I just bought a 2026 Ford Explorer from Mckie. It started overheating immediately. They made zero effort to get me into the shop. Best they could do was "two weeks". They won't offer a loaner. They won't help you try to get into a nearby shop ie. Sturgis, Spearfish. This lemon has 600 miles on it. And Mckie just doesn't care. Garbage customer service. read more

Mckie ford sold me a 2019 Honda passport that had an issue with a sensor that their "blue star certification " should have caught in the first place and I had to twist their arm to cover it. then I take my car to the Honda dealer and find out it's 3000 dollars behind in routine maintenance including needing the timing belt and water pump replaced .. what a scam blue certified is! what a cooked bunch! be ware .. watch your wallet !! read more

We have driven from Florida to SD and still need to go back to FL. Our alarm keeps going off, so we need our battery checked. They said that they would help us in 3 weeks when an appointment was available! Very disappointing! My husband just purchased a new battery, and put it in himself. Ironic because another person said that they were on the same situation and were helped. I guess it just depends on who is working that day. :/ Update: While I am disappointed in the response below, John was wonderful. After my husband removed the battery, John tested it. This is one of those reviews with one star only because zero stars is not an option. I am also going to try to keep this somewhat comic, because, hey, sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying in these situations. So, I found myself stranded in Rapid City when my 2019 Explorer's sending unit failed. I had good luck, in that I had been touring very remote areas of western So Dakota for a while but the Explorer gave up the ghost right in front of a nice hotel. I found there was a big Ford dealer/service department, McKie, just two miles away. Had the Explorer towed in the evening and called McKie first thing the next morning. That's when the fun started. Me (on phone): My Explorer broke down last night and is on your lot. I am a tourist and need to get home asap. McKie: We can help. In two weeks. Me: No. Wait. I'm stranded here. My life, family and obligations are far away. McKie (by now, a robot, I think): Two weeks. No exceptions. Me: No, really, I have a life far away. You know, daughter's wedding, son's deployment, that sort of thing. I need to get home. McKie Robot: These are weak human needs we are not trained to consider. We are trained only to say, Two weeks, no exceptions. Me (now shamelessly desperate): Wait. I'm a disabled vet. There are Purple Heart plates on my car. Does that cut any ice?? McKie Robot: No. Two weeks, no exceptions. Me: Is there a human there I might plead my case to? McKie Robot: No. There are no humans here. Only robots programmed to say, Two weeks. No exceptions. I'm not making this up. Well, okay, maybe the robot part. I don't know that they are robots there, but they might as well be. By the end, I was thinking, this could be a great Twilight Zone episode. I own a 2019 F-350 King Ranch Diesel Dually. On Saturday I opened my sunroof. It would not close. I called Mckie Ford service center on Monday. I was told they could get to my Vehicle on October 24, Three week from now. I told him we are traveling and only had one vehicle and NO garage to put my truck in. He had NO suggestions on what I could do or where I could go the get my Truck Roof Closed. He stated he had no room for "Emergency" Repairs. Last week I contacted another Ford dealership to Order a 2022 F-350 Limited...Because of the "Service" Not provided by this dealership; I will Never purchase another FORD! I want to start out by saying that my sales representative Sean Antoon was great, my review has absolutely nothing to do with him. I have always sworn that I wouldn't buy a vehicle from McKie in Rapid City, however last Friday I saw a beautiful black convertible Beetle sitting in the lot and was instantly in love. Took a test drive and I was sold. Started out doing paperwork, evaluated my current convertible Beetle and was offered full payoff credit. Everything is cooking along, and I did offer a substantial (in my mind) down payment of $1,000 IN ADDITION to my car as a trade in. Seemed like everything was going well until we get to the business office, and feeling good about everything until Ty Evans comes out and states that they need $3200 down. WTF?! Seriously?! Never in my LIFE have I needed a down payment like that. I understand that the car sales industry is in dire need, and they are probably trying to recover from all of the hail damage incurred over the last few seasons. But clearly they don't really want to sell a vehicle. I will not be gouged because of an industry's misfortunes. Don't tell me that it's what the lenders are requiring, that's complete BS! Your dealership has had this type of reputation for as long as I can remember, and now it has solidified my opinion of you. Selfish, greedy and unethical. Total lack of concern for customer and thier safety. Completely unprofessional. Zero stars My family is in from out of town on vacation, we noticed a unusual noise on our Ford Taurus so we stop in with safety concern, on a Monday morning, and I was told the earliest they could even look at it was Friday. If this dealship had and vaules, care or concern for their customers safety they could've at least tried to find a way to at very least look at my car and decide if it's safe or not to drive. I wasn't demanding they look at it right now or on the spot, but thier total lack of concern for my family's safety is concerning. If you value your family and safety or if you're in town on vacation please find a different place that will work with you to get you back on the road safely. Used quick lane for a tire change/swap. Watched the service completed through the window and placed outside in 40 min. Awesome...but Took another 45 just to write up paperwork and get me checked out? I probably would not have thought much of it if I didn't see the work so speedily accomplished and 5 employees hanging out around the cash out desk while I was cleaning old twice just a few more min. My husband and I were in Rapid City for a one-night stop on our thirteen day road-trip. On our way to Rapid City, I needed an oil change but, more rattling to me, my engine light came on and went off twice. Further, the air wasn't cooling the cabin correctly. Being a "Dealership Snob," I called McKie Ford Dealership. They stated that they could take care of the oil change but to diagnose the problem with the car, I'd need to schedule one appointment for that - and then another appointment for the actual repair. I was devastated and the woman on the line clearly didn't care about our situation. We needed our car fixed within the day. I hopped on Yelp and noticed other reviews by vacationers who mentioned the Belly Brothers as being a great shop. I called them and they told me to bring my car in first thing in the morning. My husband and is got a hotel near their shop and brought the car in 20 minutes before they opened. Within 2 hours they'd completed the oil changed and discovered what was making the sensors go off - and fixed it (FREE OF CHARGE). They went a step further and cleaned out the interior of the engine compartment and air filter after noticing a mouse's nest was lodged inside.. again, all free of charge. I was back on the road in no time having only paid $60! I can't say anything good about McKie - but I can point you to Belly Brothers as the best place in town. read more

Use extreme caution dealing with this company. I was working a deal to trade in my car on a new truck, they offered me "market value" for my car - which turned out to be ~25% less than NADA trade in. After telling the sales person no way was I doing that and walked out the door he stopped on the sidewalk with a printout from his sales manager showing me a autotrader listing of same year and animated about how I wasn't being reasonable and thumping the printout with his finger showing me how his manager circled days on market (250+), sale price what I was asking for, and it had 1/2 the miles as my car, like I was completely unreasonable. I walked away from him saying no way. The next day I looked the car he had the printout from and on the portion of the printout he didn't show me was their compatible had a SAVAGE title!!! I called the sales rep back and asked if there was confusion if my was savage or did they leave that off for a reason. Dean said he called me back, 5 minutes later he called and said they didn't see that on it but they were going to stick with their trade in value. McKie Ford is that dealership people warn others about. Ford - great product, find a different dealer. McKie Ford: your Local Certified Lemon Dealer Early September 2021, I went car shopping. Why!? Because my daily driver had officially exceeded its value in repairs, and as a young woman I decided it's my time to build some credit and buy something reliable. Oh how wrong I was to go to McKie. Their only concern is getting positive reviews, which is awesome. As someone who runs a retail store and is the face of it, I totally understand the importance of doing this. My stipulation with this, is that that seems to be their only concern, not selling cars that actually run. I bought a car off of their pre-owned lot, "McKie Certified Preowned" is literally the name of it although they run through the same office. They were very upfront with me, saying they don't do full inspections on cars over 100,000 miles. Fair to say, and an accurate statement, they definitely do NOT do inspections. If they had done literally ANYTHING to the vehicle that I purchased, then they would have instantly seen everything that was wrong with it. In my perspective, I don't know much about cars, I know where the oil goes and the gas goes, call me a bad car owner I don't care. They told me they do oil changes and check fluids, EXTREMELY BASIC THINGS, even I can do that. Not only did the sales management say this, but the mechanic on site had told me that the last owners had it for 5-6 years and that it runs fantastic. Isn't that great? That's what I thought too! I was like wow, they took such good care of it! An hour after taking it home, I started getting a funny smell, something I was all too familiar with: coolant. Why me? That's all I could think and two months later that's all I still think. I took it back, told them what I suspected and they set up an appointment to get it checked out. I sat there for over three hours, on a day that I was supposed to work but had to call in, I told them that I think the water pump is out, and I noticed the brake line looks like it has a leak. THREE HOURS LATER: the dealership told me the same thing I had already self diagnosed it with. They didn't charge me for the diagnostic, which honestly if they tried to, I would have thrown a fit. I decided, since it's an import vehicle I would take it to a specialist, whom said that it was in their shop a month ago for the same issues! On a side note, the mechanic (at McKie) came up to me and goes, "Are you the owner's daughter by chance?" I'm definitely not. I responded with, "I wish I was, because there's no way he would let his daughter drive a car with brakes that don't work." The hierarchy and absolute disrespect the owner has for its customers and employees is unbelievable. I would have never given them my business if I had known that things were gonna end up the way they were. McKie told me that it was gonna cost me an additional $1,300 to get the water pump fixed, and probably another thousand to fix the brakes. That's whatever if you're an adult with decent credit and a good paying job, but the only thing I am is an adult. I reexplained my situation to my salesman, who transferred me to the manager. The manager told me there was nothing he could do until it was registered in my name. Fine. Cool. They said they would help pay for that. He also explained to me that I should have known I was buying a "project car." So I paid for the registration, $754 that I didn't have. McKie did not help, considering I spent every cent I had getting that loathsome thing in the shop. I got to the point where I didn't even wanna deal with them because they were being so difficult. I don't know who goes to a dealership to buy a so called "project car" but it's not me. I would have went to Facebook Marketplace, and a stranger on that would have had the decency to make sure I was satisfied. I did end up talking to the owner, who was so extremely disrespectful, he wouldn't even hear what I had to say. He acted so conceited like what I was going through was my fault and not the fact that he was OK with selling a vehicle that had so many issues that my life was at risk. He said, "there's nothing we can do, you bought it you fix it." I walked out mid conversation. Now, financially, I'm not exactly a prodigy, I'm very young and wanted something reliable. He did not deliver. I cannot stress enough how terribly I was treated. I will be telling everyone I talk to what I went through, and how awful my experience was. In sales, customer service and customer experience falls hand in hand, neither was good for me and wasn't improved. All of this happened over the course of 45 days, and even longer now. Someone really wanted their pockets full. Good for you. Hope you got what you wanted because I didn't. I am a full time RV'er and was only in town for a few days. I drove in for an oil change and before I could get comfortable in the waiting area the service agent tapped me on the shoulder and told me that they were done. This was truly the fastest oil change I have had on my F-350 I have ever had. The service area looks brand new and the waiting area is the most clean and comfortable I have ever been in. My daughter's Ford Focus would not start. On Sunday, we took the battery down and had it tested and found it was bad. The gentlemen at #Autozone was really nice. He noticed that the battery was under warranty from Ford and advised us to take it to them to replace it. I went to #mckieford this morning to get a new one. I was told that it needed to be in the car. Okay, not happy, I went back and put the battery back in her car and was luckily able to get it jumped. We drove back to McKie Ford and I explained the situation. The person there told me I needed a receipt for the battery. I don't have the receipt because the battery is original to when I purchased the car. I have never asked a car dealership for a receipt for a battery when I made a purchase. #mckieford refused to honor the 100-month warranty on an OEM part from Ford Motor Company. So, the next time you buy a new car from any Ford Dealership, make sure to get a receipt for all the parts that may be under warranty, because they will not honor their warranty without it. Dealt with Matt, a little high pressure but good enough. We came to an understanding that he "had to run past his sales manager." We all know that is a certain amount of BS but it is the game. Anyway the sales manager said for that price, 30k for a 2011 Ford 350 would have to be done today and they would not even inspect it. Well, I call BS on this also as I found it on the website afterwards. I stated I would not sign anything until it was looked at. The sales manager said he wanted to talk to me, fine. He starts out, snarky I should add, "I'll run it into my shop and sell it for 32 k tomorrow." OK, I start walking away because that's what he said and I wasn't going to waste anymore time here. The manager then starts yelling at me and says he was only trying to talk to me. This is still South Dakota right? He stated what he was going to do, but meant something else? Wow, I was halfway to the door and against my better judgement I turned and asked what was the problem? He's mad because I believed him? I said I was not trying to start a fight, I was going by what he said. Then the excuses, again snarky, start but to be honest I wasn't hearing them very well. I could feel the blood start to boil and headed toward the door again. Told Matt the sales manager cost a customer. Matt apologized. Fast forward, about an hour later I start feeling guilty that I may have snapped at Matt so I texted him saying it wasn't him I was mad at. He responded that the general manager wanted to make it right. The manager, Brad then called me but I let it go to voice mail as I really was fearful I might be less nice than I should. The voicemail was they were sorry and if I wanted they would work it out. OK. I stewed on this overnight trying to understand everyone can have a bad day. I contacted them today, left a message for Brad and called Matt. Matt stated all management was in a meeting but he would call back when he had an answer. He asked would you still be interested at the 30k. I said yes. I then received a call about an hour later from Matt. He stated that the pickup was in the shop and needed about $2,000.00 dollars of work, parts needed to be ordered and the "manager" , general? sales? stated the price would have to go up to 32 k. He stated he would call me when it was done. WHAT? Agree on a price then raise it? Again the time line doesn't make sense, they had it on the website, it had been on their lot for between 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. They had to know there was an issue and it would require $2,000.00 in repair but they wanted to pass it on to the customer while still asking full price. BTW, small point but it had an extra owner, I was told two previous but there were three as I did a bit of research. Important? Maybe not or does it follow a pattern of untruths? If anyone ever buys anything from McKie I would recommend a super thorough inspection, which might be hard with the "sign this purchase agreement first" attitude. You probably should take a certified mechanic, a pit bull and a lawyer with you. But even the jack and factory tire changing tools were missing. I would have bought better anyway but it would have been interesting to find this out about midnight on the side of a road. Well, this is the first time I have felt the need or have done a online review but in good conscience I felt I needed to do this. I fear for the young family starting out and trusting McKie to be honest when it comes to buying a vehicle they could barely afford, or the elderly lady who needs to sell or trade her husbands pickup for something she feels comfortable driving. The high pressure and "untruthfulness" may lead them to a financial ruinous decision. Maybe if everybody stayed away in droves there might be some South Dakota values that would resurface. I just recently purchased a vehicle from these guys. I paid cash for it upfront. They stated that they replaced some major components in this car, only to find out that there were further underlying issues that they wouldn't back up. I have had this vehicle at several shops now, only to find out that several components should have been caught in their most recent inspection, and were clearly missed. After replacing wheel bearings, their shop should have conducted an alignment. I had the alignment checked and both control arms in the front of the car were out, including the bushings in each. This will be a $1500 repair. I won't visit this establishment again in the future. read more

Wow! A++ I went to McKie Ford for an oil change (1st one for my Mustang) expecting them to be like most dealers I've dealt with in the past. I braced myself to deal with the typical horrible service and unfriendly people usually associated with dealers - Maryland Ford dealers, specifically Lindsay Ford of Wheaton,left a REALLY BAD impression- McKie could not have been better. They got my car in immediately, treated it with care and got me out of there in a very timely manner. I just may keep going to them even after my warranty expires. read more

Took my 2016 Toyota 4Runner to the Toyota dealers express lane across the street for an oil change. We are from Denver and it needed to be done before we headed back. They told me the first available date was Monday. Today is Wednesday. Regardless if the situation we were in, an oil change could not be done. Unacceptable. All dealers have an express lane where you can drop in without an appointment for basic services. I saw the Ford Quicklane as I pulled out. They were happy to change our oil without an appointment, they did it quick and they did it with a smile. Thank you! Side note, everyone was super nice. The waiting room kept the kiddos occupied while we waited. The video game and soda fountain was a nice touch. read more

Ok people I'm venting right now.. Never buy a used vehicle (no warranty) from McKie Ford Lincoln, when I purchased the vehicle back in April I had asked the sales woman (VERY NICE LADY, but no longer employed there) if the vehicle had been thoroughly inspected, "yes, and everything is running good" (lie). The Jeep had just little over 107,000 miles on it, I had purchased it as is no warranty. I know vehicles with that many miles will not always be perfect. I expected to later on down the road to have to change out brakes, rotors, spark plugs, filters, etc.. Not even 2 weeks after purchasing this vehicle, not even 600 miles had been put on it BOOM transmission went out on it. I give McKie a round of applause for the tow home (over 200 miles), but after that an additional $2500 for the transmission, front axle bearing and other things and labor. *sigh* What a headache, they couldn't do anything more for me. All 4 tires are needing to be replaced. I have been trying to stay positive, I put a smile on (but OUCH) What I had put into this vehicle could've helped with the tires and left of that wedding expenses. I apologize, my vent is over. I stopped in today to look at cars again. It is raining cats and dogs. And once again they only have three cars in their showroom. I commented about this and they said it was a requirement of the Ford Motor Company that they only have three cars inside the showroom. Why require your dealerships to build big massive showrooms when you won't let them put cars in it to see? Given the choice of getting in my car and leaving or walking out in the rain to see the cars parked outside, I decided to leave. I guess I would have to say it Ford dealerships are just fair-weather dealerships, don't come when the weather is bad. read more

I recently purchased a Ford Escape from McKie Ford. I set out my parameters for a vehicle, made my money expectations clear, and away we went. Tom Anderson and Matt Day were amazing. They walked me out to the lot to vehicles that fit within all my guidelines. Asked me what colors I didn't like and liked. Their numbers were reasonable, and I ended up financing through Ford because they made me a deal I couldn't beat. I did shop a couple dealerships seriously and this one was by far the best. Everyone was friendly, the showroom wasn't overpacked or cluttered, and they didn't keep me waiting forever and a day. Overall, it was a great experience and I love my Escape. read more

Had warranty work done on my Lincoln. Ryan was quick to take care of us and get us a rental car during the process. They updated me on the progress when parts took longer than anticipated because of a winter storm. Clean facilities, excellent customer service. One issue, which is NOT a reflection on McKie, but rather Lincoln themselves...when you have warranty work done and need a rental...they will only cover the use of another Lincoln. If the rental car agencies here don't have a Lincoln, you're SOL. Luckily for us, one was available and all went smoothly. read more

If at all possible I would stay away from this dealership at all cost. My check engine light came on while in the area on vacation so I went there to see what the problem was since I was about a thousand miles from home and didn't want to drive the vehicle back home in that condition. I was told that the transmission needed a new torque converter. The dealership said that the service was performed and that a new filter was installed, the lines flushed and new fluid was added. As soon as I got home I took the vehicle to the dealership where I purchased it new to have normal oil and filter change done and during that service they checked all the fluids and found that the transmission fluid was very dark brown, burnt and contaminated instead of red in color like new fluid would be. They had to use 46 quarts of fluid to totally flush the system and refill the transmission with new fluid. I personally saw the burnt fluid that was removed from the transmission and it was horrible looking plus I trust this dealership since I have know the owner and his family for quite a few years. I called the dealership in Rapid City and talked to the service manager that I dealt with there and told him about this and he said they did the service that was required by the book. They had to know the fluid was burnt and at the least should have told me about it instead of putting a vehicle back on the road with burnt fluid. If I could give Mckie Ford 0 stars I would. I went in fully intending to leave with a brand new car, but after a test drive with Greg I have decided to never do business with Mckie Ford in Rapid. Not only did the salesmen not know about the car, he also took a phone call while on the test drive completely ignoring me. The dealership lacked knowledge in their own products and did not have any basic customer service. I was insulted by the staff and plan to never return. read more

Hello, my name is Kathrine. The friends I have been living with, have recommended me this dealership. They have bought three used vehicles through McKIE Ford and have never encountered any problems or inconveniences. One of those vehicles happened to be a Santa FE that they had for a few years, and those facets have definitely led me to be more trusting towards the dealership and the vehicle I was interested in. Both the service and the staff were helpful; I am especially grateful to have been assisted by Wayne Rider. I am not an experienced driver and this was my first time financing a vehicle and he has definitely guided myself through all aspects in regards to making this decision. For me, it's crucial that I don't get pushed and/or rushed into something I'm not knowledgeable about or quite sure if it's the right thing to do. I thought the vehicle was amazing judging by the looks and mechanical aspects online but boy, it certainly was calling my name, once I saw it parked at the McKIE Ford dealership. From that point onward, I knew it was destiny. I have never made such an easy going, comfortable, and convenient commitment. Not only would I recommend this dealership, but also the individual who showed a great deal of - assistance, patience, flexibility, and honesty. It's always nice to see a person who remains genuine despite of his/her job. He didn't play the role of the cheesy dealership guy who was stretching his Hollywood smile, but rather someone who is just another person like you and me. It felt as if I were communicating with a friend who can relate to me and my situation rather than a person who only cared about his sales.
