I would not bring my dog to McLaren. I truly believe they were responsible for my brothers death. They kept on releasing him to the rehab center on 23 mile road and within 2 days he was rushed ack to the hospital. He passed away on December 30th. He went through hell. Certain characteristics displayed by patients can motivate a very tense exchange. However, the patients are not employees. They don't get paid to provide a service. Staff should not match negative energy, not provoke up. A nurse yelling at a patient to "shut- up" should call under a zero tolerance policy. Employees should not be using profanity. Employees using profanity toward, with, or within ear shot of patients should be prohibited. Profanity is offensive and should not be the "normal" behavior within any place of business, especially where children are present, and people are ill. I've never been a part of an organization with this level of unprofessionalism. read more

I had 3 procedures done and all of them were minimum of 3 hours delayed and I suffered. their office visit is always 15-40 minutes late regardless. From what I know and understand, the medical care for my brother's recent illness was a valient effort. Considering he waited way too long to let anyone know he was ill, they moved quickly to try to save his life, which they could not do, not for lack of trying. He was only in for a little over a day, and told me he liked both his doctor and one of the male nurses that took care of him. He was upset about something shortly before he died, but from what I can understand both by talking to him and others, the planned care was to take care of him better and increase his odds of surviving, which, being bull headed he did not seem to understand. I would like to give the security team a zero score, and could not find a way to do that at this time. The stars are for the medical personal only. I was not authorized to collect his items as an oversight by the sibling that had extensive medical experience and stayed with him until he was stable. The security guard told me I could not collect his phone and wallet the day after he died, and that it would be sent with the funeral home, which it was not. When his son tried to collect them later in the week, the hospital said they lost them. I do not understand how that happened. I take it that they had them secured the day after he died, but lost them in a couple days. I think those items are personal identification and a shame that they were so carelessly accounted for. Perhaps they were thrown in the laundry, washed and ruined, or stolen, like he didn't matter. I believe there is possibly a chance he died with his phone in his hand because he called 911 shortly before he died. I know hospital policy is that they aren't responsible, but I do not know how a dead man can take care of his items. It doesn't matter to me that he could put his information on the cloud, he didn't, and there isn't a law he has to. He left in the ambulance with his phone in his hand and asked for his wallet for his id and insurance card, which the hospital requires. It's not like they do this stuff for free. read more

The emergency department gave me immediate care. However, outpatient regimen & Diagnostic Imaging have no person to assist you. They took those employees away, I'm sure to save money. So, patients become confused when there is no human to assist them. Also, because they take stat inpatients before scheduled outpatients, you may have up to a 2 hour wait, seriously. read more

To start with, my Involuntary Admission to McLaren General, as a Psychotic was illegal. I had a head-on collision on June 28, 2023, and am a 76 yr old man with no history of mental illness. In fact, for 10yrs, I was a Social Worker at the Wayne Count Jail, and interviewed thousands of prisoners there, in part to check for mental illness and suicidal tendencies. After about 2 days, I was transferred to the Psych Unit, which had a long, euphemistic name. A psychiatrist named Basivi Baddigam made my stay a horrific nightmare. With all the illegal denial of phone access, internet access, etc. The most horrifying scenario occurred at night. We all take for granted the experience of sleeping w/o danger and disturbance. Baddigam forced me to endure the inspection of myself and my room every two hours every night. If the attendant caught me awake, he would report that to Baddigam, who would make me take more tranquilizing, and possibly harmful medications. Practically the only questions he ever asked, the only statements he ever made to me, were negatively oriented and concerned my alleged sleeping problem. His final reports to the Wayne County Probate Judge Freddie Burton and those of a Social Worker named McCoy, listed my condition as still Psychotic and not improved, even at the time of my release on July 20th. The Probate Ct. file on me, as a Psychotic, stated that this information was sent to the MI LEIN database, and apparently is still there, for everyone with access to see. For reasons too complicated to explain, the 180dy Statute of Limitations on legal filings started to run on December 5, of 2025. I'm determined to do everything I can, to have my Insanity/Psychotic status rescinded, and removed from all the Police and Medical databases. If any of you have been, or know anyone else who has been fraudulently diagnosed as Psychotic at a McLaren Macomb hospital, get in touch with me, and we'll pool our $ resources, and maybe do something on a class action basis against these Unconstitutional miscreants. read more

Recently went through an angiogram at the McLaren Macomb and from the very first person who did my check in I felt as though the people cared and were interested in my well being. The Prep personnel took care of me, and kept me warm and informed as to when I would be next to be in the procedure. All the people were polite and many were humorous and tried to lighten my mood. It was very welcomed. When rolled into the procedure room it was almost overwhelming, however again, the personnel displayed professionalism and humor which I again welcomed. They even played my favorite music for me. All together, the experience was a little scary, but the people were incredible. If I could give 10 stars I would. Have been coming here quite frequently since my grandmother has been sick. Nurse Abby in the ER was extremely kind and caring. She went above and beyond to answer questions and help not only the patient, but family as well. Very attentive. The surgical team is extremely amazing as well. I moved back into the area and I am relatively close and thought I'd see what the location was like. The area was kept very clean had just been remodeled, beautifully done. The food service was the worst service ever. I am allergic to fish and eggs. I would get pancakes and eggs or potatoes and eggs. I am also Diabetic. I would get fish for dinner, sometimes lunch too. nurses and hospital staff pay the price for leadership, dropping the ball is ridiculous. A breach in computer systems is no excuse for a patient not being able to order food or the kitchen is closed. in a building with competent kitchen staff could see the problem and implement a manual ordering system or something like it so patients can get food they can actually eat. This is a total breakdown in hospital leadership/management for a vital service, such as food. Although I didn't get pictures of every occurrence, I I will attach the pictures I do have below. for example for breakfast. I would get toast on a plate along with oatmeal or cornmeal, or something... toast!, I would also get potatoes and eggs or pancakes and eggs for breakfast, which, of course I didn't eat. It's a good thing I didn't eat that because I would still be there in the hospital if I had. You couldn't call the kitchen for items that were "always available " On September 1 I got fish for lunch, yes, fish, I complained they took it away. I complained to the nursing staff and I got three lunches that day. What is happening? in cabinet kitchen management was not aware of how to manage food services for a hospital or anywhere else for that matter. In ICU My room was 80° at least there were fans at the end of the hallway towards the end of my stay in ICU. I had a heat rash, because of this, which was itchy. along with everything else I have going on. The nurses were wonderful, very attentive, which I appreciate sincerely UPDATE: among others, The food services director of the hospital did reach out to me and asked a few Questions. My nurse were caring but I feel stressed I was in the emergency room for extreme abdominal pain. They were pretty good at getting test done Dr Flahlately(?) was caring got me diagnosed said they were admitting me had a bed just waiting for transport. 4 hours sitting in the hall waiting for transport to my room. No one in the room but me till later they brought in an elderly lady who'd broken her shoulder. Very friendly with staff"love your name , your blouse is so pretty yada yada. It became apparent that she had dementia of some type she got very agitated over time. They got her settled I thought then I heard her shuffling around as I had my eyes shut I realized she had stopped opened my eyes to find her right by the side of my bed staring at me then yell at me about her clothes and snatched my blanket off. They finally moved me to another room but the peace was short lived as a patient came in with a whole group of family/friends KFC subs(this is about 8:30pm). They stayed till midnight eating and having a gabfest(stated visiting hours are 8am to 8pm 2 visitors per patient no one under 12) obviously these are a joke. They are back today came while having breakfast and they are still here it's 1 pm. So much for resting and healing read more

This review is for the Medical Auditorium: This will be my third day coming to the auditorium for a training in a classroom. I must say that it was a bit confusing to get around and find where the auditorium was located. The hospital itself is very clean. My first day I came in on the wrong side. I saw the food area and a lovely help desk. The auditorium has a few classrooms and a cafe nearby. The classrooms are huge! Plenty of walking space. Two large screens that pull down. Also, there is a plus. They have left handed desks on the far right!! There is at least one in each row which is a start. Usually, in meetings I have no left handed desk. Its a cute little compartment that flips up to make a desk, great for notes. It gets a bit cold in here for some, but I loved the temperature. It felt great to me. read more

Worst planned surgical procedure I've ever seen. We were instructed to arrive at 8:30 am for morning surgery. At 5:15 pm the patient was finally taken back for surgery. Unbelievable. Claimed Dr had 2 emergency surgeries come in, even though we were a scheduled surgery. A nine hour delay is unacceptable. They are completely understaffed and Ill prepared to to handle customers/family & patients. We are now into our 11th hour here and still waiting for the surgeon to come talk to us. Avoid this hospital if possible. I sure hope orthopedic surgeon Dr. Wagner is alert enough during my family members surgery. read more

I checked in on a Saturday late afternoon, thinking I was having a heart attack. It took them nearly 10 hours before discovering that I had shingles. I am a bit unhappy with how long that process took, and even more unhappy that I had to pay the deductible on a bunch of heart related tests, which could have been avoided had they checked my naked back. That aside, the staff was polite, so that brings them back up. The food, for a hospital, was also very good. Hospital visits are never "good," but this one was better than some, and worse than others. I'd give them another shot though. read more

Dr. Cuppari is a vascular surgeon there and he is wonderful! Very competent and compassionate. He also works in the wound care clinic and has helped me through a lot of problems. It's not his first choice but he helps out because he's needed. His staff is also very well trained and deserve recognition where it is very much appreciated. They are probably one of the best things McLaren Macomb has to offer. read more

I took my wife here when she accidentally took too many iron tablets. This might not sound like a big deal, but iron poisoning can be serious, and even fatal. Fortunately, McLaren is only a few miles from our house. There's a complimentary valet service at the E.R., so we were able to get her in quickly. Admissions was also quick. In a matter of minutes, she was brought to a hallway cart. This doesn't sound like much, but she was treated the way you'd expect for someone in a room. Again, it wasn't long before her blood was drawn and an EKG was taken. The nurses were concerned about how much she had ingested. She didn't want to spend the night in the hospital, but the doctor insisted that she stay overnight so she could be observed. An iron overdose can cause the blood to become acidic, and they weren't going to take any chances. Hospitals are never fun, but the experience here was such that I will certainly return if there's an emergency. I really feel like she's in good hands. The down side of her care was that they told her more than once that she was going to be released "soon", and it began to feel like it would never happen. Is her excellent insurance the reason why they took her blood and ran additional tests after telling her that she could be released? Hmmm. read more

Absolutely horrible. My boyfriend went there for an allergy treatment and broke out in hives all over his back. The hospital did not give him any medication to help with the reaction after the treatment was done. My boyfriend then had to experience hives all over his back because they are too lazy to give him some medicine. Absolutely ridiculous. They then told him to just deal with the pain. How would you like hives all over your back? Don't go here unless you're a witch who can curse my boyfriend's doctor to be covered in hives. read more

I would happily give NO STARS! EMS took me there because of a fall in St. Clair Shores. I asked several times to be transferred to either hospital in Ann Arbor (where I live) and was ignored. I was bed ridden and asked for several other things - also ignored. "Bathroom accidents" were not handled in a hygienic manner. They took me down for emergency surgery and had the wrong chart, and nurses thought they were operating on a different body part. Also tried to take my blood pressure on my (obviously) broken arm, which now may or may not need to have another surgery to correct what was done at McLaren. Waiting for CT scan results to find out. They also incorrectly entered my insurance information, something that's taken me 9 months to get straightened out. read more

A few angels work there, but MANAGEMENT is heartless. My husband of 56 years was in hospice dying. Our 28 year old grandson, drove 3 hours from the other side of the State, to say his last good-bye. They would not let him in the room to say goodbye. They actually called Security, WITH DOGS, because he begged to get in the room to say good-bye. My sweetheart died in a room without his family. HEARTLESS Hospital. One of the "angels" brought me a chair. A nurse who was not even in that unit, took the chair back. She stated that she needed the chair for a patient, so i gave up the chair. I had a one one day surgery at McClaren Hospital on 9-16-2022. Great, starting with registering, then to pre-surgery expierence, which was great, the nurses and staff was great, they were well organized and kept me relaxed (I was nervious) and finally the operation staff and Doctor Hoff were great. I would highly recommend McClaren Hospital. Nicole and Danielle are just two of the nurses that made the expierence calming and professionally friendly. (3-9-23) I have been trying to get Dr. Craig Brown's office staff (Portland, MI) to send a referral to the same type of specialist for months. I met with the doctor in January and his staff was supposed to send a referral out for me to a specialist I needed. -- After not hearing anything from his office, I called the office on Jan 24. I also provided them with the correct FAX number to the specialist's office. They told me they would FAX the referral the same day. February 23rd rolls around (one month later) and I called the specialist's office and they told me they had never received any kind of referral from Dr. Brown's staff. Sp I had to call Dr. Brown's staff AGAIN, and give them the FAX number AGAIN... 2 weeks later and I still have not heard from the specialist. -- Pardon me, but Dr. Brown is the captain of the ship. New doc time. I cannot trust his staff has my best interests in mind. It is not the first time this staff has dropped the ball about referrals. It will be the last ... Go somewhere else. No beds available? Or no staff available? My husband was taken by ambulance to the ER, where he was admitted - to a hallway. When I called his nurse to ask why he was still in a hallway she hung up on me. Day 2 he is still in the hallway and it looks like that is where he will stay for the duration of his treatment for Pancreatitis. Each time his medication is due I have to go to the nurses station to ask for his meds (where they look and speak as if incredibly insulted that I dared approach). The ER is always a very very loud area, but the hallways are chaos. Loud sceaming patients that are completely ignored. One woman named Carol kept calling out her name and begging for help. All day. One man was forcibly tied down because he wanted to go home. Another man roamed the hall stark naked trying on various things (one looked like a vomit bag) on his penis. I went to the nurses station and got that lovely 'How dare you?" look, explained the situation, and nothing. Eventually a security man spots him heading our way and tells him to go to the bathroom. He eventually goes in, and several minutes later must have opened the door but remained inside, when a nurse spotted him and started yelling loudly for security. Several staff members slowly make their way over and watch the commotion. Security arrives, he is taken away, and the bathroom is locked until housekeeping can sanitize whatever he has done to the room. A teenager who is also kept in the hallway has to use the facilities, but oh well. Never, ever again. Every single visit to McLaren is this way. I leave feeling like the plague has engulfed me. read more

The ER was so bad. We came in at 10pm and left around 3am, going 4/5 hours without any medicine for a 102° fever. He came in with a 98.8° temp and after all that time I had to argue with the nurses to retake his vitals because he felt so hot. We kept telling the nurses how much pain he was in and they treated him like an opioid addict. Then, the doctor wasn't able to really tell us what he had but prescribed antibiotics. The doctor was kind, we just struggled with the nurse who was in a hurry and treated him like an inconvenience (asking over and over for a blanket, nausea medicine for puking, and pain relief for the body aches). Unsympathetic hospital that doesn't care about patients. I told him from the start we needed to go to another hospital but McLaren is close and convenient. Proceed at your own risk. read more

To be fair, I have had very positive experiences at this hospital in the past. However, that does not make up for the dismal, lack of care I received during my last visit there. The workers who admitted me and took my information were professional and very friendly, and did their jobs exceptionally well. But the doctor who eventually saw me? Let's put it this way: If in a few days I heard a story about a guy breaking into the hospital, stealing a lab coat and impersonating a doctor, I'd have a good laugh and think, "Oh!...Well that explains it"! It was an absolute farce and a waste of my insurance company's money. He should be absolutely ashamed to call himself a doctor. He shook my hand, asked me a few questions, gave me a script to go back to my primary car physician (which is an entire 5 days away); letting me get wheeled out with 100% as much excruciating pain as when I went in.
