The food service was the worst service ever. I am allergic to fish and eggs. I would get pancakes and eggs or potatoes and eggs. I am also Diabetic. I would get fish for dinner, sometimes lunch too. nurses and hospital staff pay the price for leadership, dropping the ball is ridiculous. A breach in computer systems is no excuse for a patient not being able to order food or the kitchen is closed. in a building with competent kitchen staff could see the problem and implement a manual ordering system or something like it so patients can get food they can actually eat. This is a total breakdown in hospital leadership/management for a vital service, such as food. Although I didn't get pictures of every occurrence, I I will attach the pictures I do have below. for example for breakfast. I would get toast on a plate along with oatmeal or cornmeal, or something... toast!, I would also get potatoes and eggs or pancakes and eggs for breakfast, which, of course I didn't eat. It's a good thing I didn't eat that because I would still be there in the hospital if I had. You couldn't call the kitchen for items that were "always available " On September 1 I got fish for lunch, yes, fish, I complained they took it away. I complained to the nursing staff and I got three lunches that day. What is happening? in cabinet kitchen management was not aware of how to manage food services for a hospital or anywhere else for that matter. In ICU My room was 80° at least there were fans at the end of the hallway towards the end of my stay in ICU. I had a heat rash, because of this, which was itchy. along with everything else I have going on. The nurses were wonderful, very attentive, which I appreciate sincerely UPDATE: among others, The food services director of the hospital did reach out to me and asked a few Questions. We had a great conversation and he said change was coming. Along with an investigation.

What used to be St. John's. Still felt like St. John's. Still ok. Not really anything impressive. Probably wouldn't be my first choice in Hospitals.

Meatloaf was dry, but then again I didn't come for the food.

The Medical Pavilion is where the doctors have their offices and it's also where you can get lab work and various tests done such as ultrasounds and bloodwork and mammograms, bone density tests and X-rays etc.... This is also where the pharmacy is located. Back to the review after clarifying the differences.... I've had multiple experiences here as of late and each time the technicians, technologists, receptionists, nurses and doctors have all been outstanding. I had a procedure done in this pavilion and as nerve wracking as it was, each and every person that assisted in my care was outstanding, caring and kind. It's a busy waiting area with so many different tests and procedures they perform, that the only drawback is that sometimes the seating is full, but they do have folding chairs set up in the hallway for the overflow. It doesn't happen all the time, but at least they are prepared for when it does. I've never had a negative experience at this Medical Pavilion after many visits. If I did, I would let you know. So with that being said, it's run like a smooth machine to get people in and out. No complaints from me.

My dad was transferred here last August after having an emergency tracheostomy at Henry Ford Warren. He needed a feeding tube as well, and was quickly gaining strength so he could tackle cancer treatment. He was stabilized at Henry Ford and his condition was improving so much so that they felt he could be discharged to a step-down hospital for further rehabilitation. Select Specialty is a STEP DOWN INDEED! He arrived on a Saturday, on Sunday he accidently pulled out his trach tube and the "nurses and doctors" were able to replace it without much to-do. However, he developed sepsis from this procedure. His symptoms were completely ignored by staff! He began exhibiting signs of altered mental state, which nurses told me were "hospital delirium," his pulse and oxygen rates were dropping, and his blood pressure was skyrocketing. This was a man who never had high blood pressure a day in his life! These symptoms were ignored for a full day. On Monday, he began expelling blood from his trach and feeding tubes, these symptoms were "noted" on his chart, but also ignored! Upon visiting him after work at 5:00PM, I witnessed him expelling blood through his trach and when I went to grab a nurse , I was told that he was doing that all day and that was "normal." In return, I replied, it is absolutely NOT normal because he wasn't doing that since he had originally been admitted to the hospital three weeks earlier. Later that night after visiting hours were over, I received a call from the nurse on call that my dad's health had rapidly declined and he was continuously expelling blood and they assumed he was bleeding internally. They sent him to Henry Ford Macomb to get a CT scan to see where he was bleeding from. After Henry Ford refused to admit him, he was then transferred to McClaren where he had declined too much and they were unable to help him. He passed from hemorrhagic shock very early Tuesday morning. When I returned to Select Specialty later that day, they already had his personal effects thrown in a garbage bag not even knowing that he had passed. There was an utter lack of care and empathy at this hospital and I feel pity for anyone who is a patient there, or has a loved one get admitted there. Unfortunately, filing a formal complaint against them with the State did nothing because the State didn't even investigate the actual complaint. They simply said the hospital was compliant with Medicare standards. Those standards must be pretty low! Now I'll always have to wonder whether or not my dad would have lived a bit longer if he didn't get sent to this hellhole!

My dad was transferred here and immediately after his health started declining. In fact, they let him die here. Horrible place to go for treatment. Everyone involved in my dad's death will be held responsible for it. Any doctor, practitioner, nurse involved will be held accountable for their poor negligence. They did not follow proper protocols, and because of that my dad died. Justice will be served.

I finally decided to take her to this Urgent care to get the job done. We were greeted warmly by the receptionist. I had several questions as to how 'urgent care' worked when using mom's BCBS and Medicare, the front desk young woman, Ishani, answered all my questions clearly and was very helpful in putting me at ease that we did indeed come to the right place to get what we needed accomplished. Several patients were ahead of us and yet we did not have to wait very long before we could see the Dr. The patient room was very clean. The Medical Assistant, Mahllide, was understanding when I said mom needed to sit in a chair with a back vs sitting atop the bed. She checked mom's vitals and treated her with kindness and respect. My mom is 86, has Parkinson's and slight dementia. We did not have to wait long for the Nurse Practitioner to arrive. The Nurse Practitioner, Jessica, was very kind, professional and understanding. She took out mom's 5 stitches on her head with very little pain inflicted on my mom. She spoke to mom to reassure her what she was doing and to let mom know when she was nearing the end. Before we knew it we were walking out without stitches in mom's head...and we didn't have to wait 7 weeks to get it done! There is plenty of parking out front. The waiting room is pretty bare bones but the chairs are really cozy and comfy.
