When it came time for a new car for me, Chevrolet was not even on my radar. I was looking at more expensive luxury SUVs. I came accross an ad for McLaughlin Chevrolet in Whitman and several SUVs caught my eye. I called to arrange a test drive and David Seckinger took the call. I found him to be a very genuine and helpful person. I'm in sales myself and I hate pushy, sales people. David was very patient and took time to allow me to test drive several surprisingly (to me) high quality, beautifully designed SUVs! The selection on the lot is great. I was particularly interested in safety features and gas mileage. I was so impressed with the standard safety optoions and 30+ mpg! I also wanted a sporty look with extras like remote starter, heated seats, touch screen bluetooth capabilities and WI-FI. David and the team at McLaughlin handled the pricing, leasing and financing options honestly & openly. Being a savvy consumer, I took the time to visit other Chevrolet dealerships for pricing and service. Very little haggling was necessary with David and the management team at McLaughlin. The down to earth service and the way all of my concerns and needs were addressed helped to confirm in my mind that I was buying the right car at the right dealership! When I picked up my new car last week, David went above and beyond great service. Although he had other customers waiting, he went over everything about the vehicle and how to use all the features. Did anyone else get the Money Carlo ticket scam? It said I won $5,000. After calling the dealership it was confirmed that I did in fact win, or I could put the money towards the purchase of a car. I wen down there to meet David, whose personality was more frosty than the Blizzard of 78'. He tossed my ID across the table as opposed to handing it me the way I handed it to him. That was extremely and intentionally rude. That unprofessional gesture and attitude immediately determined I would never make a purchase here ever! After reminding him why I came down there, he led me to a board that had 4 numbers. That's how they "determined" I really got $100 in online only gift cards I have to submit an application for. I mean to lie to people to get a $1.00 is awful. Maybe business wouldn't be so bad if they were honest. Would highly NOT recommend. read more

Was told they didn't have a business manager so they couldn't take it. This was a big inconvenience. Horrible place to do business I brought my car in because of loud ac pump they had my car in the shop for hours waited around in the dingy waiting area the one guy at the service desk could have cared less finely right before they closed they said it was all fixed no charge because my car was under warranty when I asked what they replaced he said nothing we just had to disconnect the battery for one hour to reset the compressor one mile down the road and the car is squealing bloody murder so I took my car to another Chevrolet dealer in Hingam and they found the problem in 15 min on a Saturday ordered a part and dropped it off on Tuesday and they even gave me a free rental car wow what a difference car sounds great. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They are SCAM artists. Received a notice in the mail with a peel off ticket that shows if the shapes match you've won a large prize. In this case $5000. Of course my first thought is that this is too good to be true. After reading every word of fine print, I called the number on the McLaughlin Chevrolet website and talked to an employee. I questioned if this was a real promotion and if I had won the $5000. I was assured that it was real and I had won the money and I just had to go to the dealership to claim it. We felt like just because we couldn't purchase the one truck that we liked there, there was no effort on trying to find and locate another truck because the payments would not be in our budget. Unfortunately, I cannot reference McLaughlin to anyone who is looking for a vehicle. Though you may find the quality of vehicle that your looking for, you will not find any integrity in their staff (with exception to Keith). Your best interests are not heard or relevant to them. They will weasel you... I purchased a 2016 vehicle in 12/2016. Last month the front light assembly went out. I took the vehicle to a manufacturer garage as it were still under warranty for essentially everything. I quickly found out the car had been in an accident prior, and was paid in cash to avoid a bad report. You couldn't tell as the grill needed to be taken off to see the wiring. The dodge mechanic noted that aftermarket items and jury-rigged wiring voided the warranty as the car wasn't in factory settings. McLaughlin did not inform me of the history, nor was anything shown on the car fax or seen by the mechanic I brought to check the vitals before purchasing. Through common sense and threat of legal counsel, McLaughlin eventually paid for the repair. They fought tooth and nail about this issue, and eventually took responsibility as they should have. Always be thorough with them, as they will be the opposite with you. read more

Any time someone laughs at the idea of getting your car fixed at a dealership, this is the shop they're referring to. I had bought my used car from McLaughlin, and my parents had bought both their cars from them for years. I thought maybe that meant they might value my business. Multiple times I came to them with a problem that was obvious to everyone in the world that the alternator needed to be replaced. I don't know what their problem was but they wouldn't fix it. The first time they trashed my BRAND NEW battery, and replaced it with their own battery at double the cost of what I had paid for one at Sears a month prior. That didn't fix it. New battery + diagnostics + a considerable labor charge for putting in a battery. The next time I had my car towed there, and spent a solid 5 minutes explaining what happened and begged them to just change the alternator this time. The woman at the desk wrote "Car not working." as the only notes on my order. New diagnostics charge + labor + a $50 car cleaning that I absolutely never asked for. Nothing fixed. Brought it to them one more time for the same thing. Explained that all I wanted was the alternator changed. No diagnostics. Just do it. The guy at the desk didn't listen to a word I said, and kept trying to butt into someone else's obviously more interesting conversation. He assured me that my two prior diagnostics that had supposedly found nothing would be credited to my account. That was a flat out lie. Again, nothing was actually fixed. Yet another new super special diagnostics charge (that no one could actually explain)+ they kept my car for 4 days + labor (because hey, the car had been there for 4 days, they had to charge me something) + an empty tank of gas when I had dropped it off with a full tank + a slap in the face quote for a $500 (not a typo) radiator flush (lolz, yeah) that had nothing to do with anything but they felt I was due for. I told them to get the hell away from my car and don't do another thing that would cost me money. DIY-ed the alternator and the belt: $150-ish. DIY-ed the radiator flush: $30, and the car was fine afterwards. There is no other way to put it than McLaughlin Chevy lied and stole my money, because obviously a college kid with a 10 year old used car has money to burn. Every single person I dealt with from buying the car to fixing it was unhelpful and clueless to the point where I thought I was going insane. Buy a car from literally anyone else. Make a Flinstones car out of found objects. Do whatever you want. Just don't come here. read more

They choose to market their company by sending out fake scratch tickets with fake prizes just to get you in the door. When you call them and ask about it they say legally they can't talk about it over the phone and you have to ask for Mr.Green once you get there for your "appointment". Are you seriously putting your company name on a marketing scam that has been already done across the country and currently has a pending legal investigation against it?! One simple google search gives you thousands of hits of how it's fake and misleading and you're willing to put your stamp on that?! I just purchased a used 2012 Chevy Cruz from the team at McLaughlin Chevrolet. I say team, because that is exactly what they are. From our sales person Steve, to Keith in the business office, to the General Manger Frank, this place actually makes buying a car a pleasure. I never felt rushed or pressured. Steve encouraged my husband and I to take our time, test drive whatever we wanted. He asked me questions about work, and my commute and made a solid recommendation on a car I love so much, driving to work everyday will be fun! I must admit that my credit is not stellar. That did not seem to matter these gentleman. I was not a credit score number, I was a person, and at McLaughlin, with Steve, we felt like VIP's. I really cannot understate what a wonderful experience we had at McLaughlin. I heartily recommend this dealership and Steve in particular. My only warning is... if you get really excited... and spontaneously hug him... he may hug your husband too. :) One of the reasons I love living in Whitman is the small town, human interaction at the local businesses. Let me start off by saying i figured out the other day, i have bought 22 cars in the past 38 years partly for business, partly pleasure. I know how to shop and the games played verse genuine sales people. Recently, I read a review of McLaughlin by John N, that was total misinformation. Most all of us understand business departments are closed on Sunday. Sadly, somebody's ignorance should not be a reason to blame others. I have been dealing with Ed and his staff each time I hunt for my next car for about 10 years now. McLaughlin service n parts department are only surpassed by their sales team. Informative, low pressure, competitive price wise. I remember one time when a competitor had a special offer or under priced a pre-owned car that could not be beat, I was told to jump at that car, that day, before somebody else bought it. Clearly Ed, knew he could not beat something mis-priced. Being such a great relationship builder Ed knew by sharing honest advise, I would be back next year looking once again. Ironically, the next year i traded that car into McLaughlin to buy a newer one. Ed has even helped me shop multiple lots to ensure i found just right car fit for my needs, regardless of brand. At McLaughlin they unselfishly share their time, give honest information, and make it their job to know the GM product line. McLaughlin sales team clearly understands the importance of being positioned to not only sell the car your looking at, but to sell you the next car too. I have to say I was greeted nicely by one particular salesman but not happy at the end as I turned in a fully loaded car 2008 and the fender had to be replaced other then that it was in new condition and clean. And I had four quotes on that bumper three were 1500.00 and one 1400.00 That was my first mistake. I did owe 4000.00 left on car but had the other seven to put down and car is due to be turned in as it is a lease so where is my money. The car has no equity. Two dealers said car is worth 15000.00 and I owe 17000.00 go figure and he want me to come back no way I will suffer it out and buy a car as I am wondering if this leasing is worth the bull. So two dealers I will never go back to and one is in Raynham. So sad that we have so many dishonest people. Do right by them and they will come back. read more

Called about a used car that I was interested in and was told that it was still available I spoke with Doreen and told her I would be out in the next half hour to see it and wanted to make sure it was there Doreen advise me that the car was there. So I got my neighbor to babysit and drove 30 minutes out there when I got there Doreen told me that the car had been taken home by another employee and can I come back tomorrow. She said that the employees all drive the used cars. So I would advise if you're interested in a used car from this dealership to have them double and triple check that the car is actually there before you waste your time and gas. I can understand that she just assumed it was there but I was especially annoyed because I gave her my number and she could have called me to let me know as soon as she knew that it wasn't there but never did. read more

My wife wanted to trade in her SUV. I suggested this dealership because it is close to where we live. I had assumed they would handle us like the other Chevy dealership had when I purchased my sedan. That was not the case. Some of this was timing. Which was explained to us. They did not even know suggested retail of the vehicle for sale due to some audit that was happening. After about a week, they did put together a deal, I was actually thinking we were going to sign. The only issue was the new SUV was missing AWD. I guess they felt I would be happy with it and settle with a FWD or there was a communication breakdown between the sales person and the business manager. In the end we spent about a week trying to get this done. Last I heard they were calling us back. I think that was code for, We are never calling you back. I did not deserve that kind of treatment. That was 3 days ago. In the end we spent a week and a half trying to purchase a SUV and we have nothing to show for it. I hope your experience is better if you go. Never buy a vehicle from them if you want good customer service after the purchase!! They sold us a truck without an operable spare key. My husband lost the working key when he was over 3 hours from home. Drove him the spare only to find out McLaughlin never programmed it. We had to leave the truck and drive home until we could get in touch with someone at McLaughlin for help. They offered nothing to help us pay the costs due to their negligence. The were going to make us pay to tow the truck an additional 30 miles to the closest dealer and that they would only pay to get the key programmed. Something that should have been done when we bought it!! The owner Paul McLaughlin even had the audacity to tell me he isn't helping pay for any other costs since it wasn't his fault my husband lost the working key in the first place and asked me why I don't have AAA. What a DISGRACE! Who sells someone a vehicle with a key that doesn't work?? Then not even apologize or offer to help with the inconvenience! BAD BUSINESS! read more

I wish I could give them negative reviews, I really do. I bought a baseline 2010 Malibu with 13,000 miles from them a couple of years ago. The price was kind of steep, but I needed a car, so I decided to buy it. I went in to meet the finance guy and start signing the paperwork and happened to notice that there was a $1300 warranty in the itemized list of charges. I hadn't asked for a warranty and had not been offered one, so I asked the finance guy what the charge was for. He said "5 years 100,000mi wrap around warranty" So I said ok and went on my way. It seemed really sneaky to begin with, but I just bought a car and said whatever. I went to get my car inspected and the brakes didn't pass. I had to call the service department and ARGUE with them to repair the brakes because they said that the brakes were considered a "normal wear and tear thing". I had just bought the car a few days prior and there was absolutely no way it could have been a wear and tear thing. I argued and they finally agreed to take care of the problem. I had thought maybe the bad service was just the person I had talked to and decided to sweep that under the rug. Then I began having other issues with my car. Small things here and there, but issues none the less. It turns out, the dealership doesn't have convenient service hours. Yes, they are open on Saturdays, but only for oil changes, nothing fancy. Not to mention my warranty was only good at that dealership. Because I couldn't make the time to go there (as I work a full time and a part time job) and because they didn't provide driver cars while your vehicle is being worked on, I didn't get the things repaired that needed to be. It was aggravating, but I also swept that under the rug. A couple months ago, I went to another dealership to trade in the car just because I felt like it wasn't the right vehicle for me. The dealership I bought the new car from informed me that I could go to McGlaughlin and get the remainder of my warranty back because I traded in the car and obviously didn't need the coverage anymore. I went to Mcglauglin and spoke, again, to that sleezy finance guy and come to find out, my warranty EXPIRED. I asked how that could be and he said "well it was 5 years from the date it was manufactured". So apparently, I purchased a warranty FOR $1300 that was only good for 18 months. He did not explain that to me when I purchased the car (if he had I NEVER would have agreed to that because it's STUPID), and I felt like I was really taken for everything I had. I tried to call and speak with the head of the dealership but he was never "in" or "had just left for the day". I will never go there again and honestly, I don't know how they are still in business after 100 years. SCUM bags! read more

Such a good dealership!! They are so kind even from the start they will help you find the right car without haggling you. I bought my car from Bobby five years ago and I haven't had a problem with the car since. He's a super nice guy which I know for a fact because my grandfather worked with him years ago. I did end up buying an extended warranty which I think was totally worth it. Not many things have broken but whenever anything has they will fix it and I don't have to worry about something costly happening to my car. Most people know that dealerships service shops are usually the worse (i.e. Tracy cadillac, Best Chevy) but these guys are great they make it all worth it. The service guys are always nice to you and take you seriously. They are never bothered by any sort of weird requests and aren't rude they will help you in any way they can. I drive right by the other Chevy dealerships just to get my car serviced in Whitman their attitude makes all the difference. Good work by all over at McLaughlin Chevrolet!!
