As a young women shopping for my first car, not knowing much, their respect and kindness blew me away. Everyone who worked here struck me as honest and genuine people who weren't trying to pass one over on me, they were so helpful and patient, charming and welcoming but not so much so that you can tell it's fake. The Y2K car I bought was in excellent condition, I've put 2k+ miles on it in the first month of having it and it's holding up great.... as it should. The buying a car experience went very well. Very no pressure sales, Vinnie was easy to deal with through the whole process. My only complaint is I bought the car in February only to find out that the AC blows hot when it was needed in June. AC is extremely important to me when buying a car. So beware when buying a used car in the winter. There was an issue with a bad battery in the car months after I purchased it and Vinnie did replace it at no charge. Overall I would recommend Winthrop Motors when looking for a used car, as they make the buying process very stress free. read more

More importantly, they're honestly trying to get you the car you want. When a car I bought from them turned out to have some serious problems (they came out during inspection), they took it back without any questions. I cannot recommend this dealer more highly. I've bought two cars at Winthrop St. Motors. Both were good deals and smooth transactions. Chris and Vinny (brothers) are straight shooters. Not the sunglasses-wearing salesman types. For the first car, they helped me get financing (Crescent Credit Union in Brockton), which worked out great. I also got a pre-purchase inspection on that first car, and told them about a few hundred dollars' worth of minor repairs that the third-party mechanic pointed out. They took care of them without any hassle. Both times I went in knowing exactly which car I wanted. (I will only drive stick-shifts, so I'm picky that way.) So I can't opine on what it's like to "shop around" there. But both of my experiences were great, with no surprises. read more

Best car buying experience I think I have ever had. I spent 2 weeks looking through 100's of used vehicles, Corolla, Hyundai, Honda, Ford Focus, you name it I drove it, looking for the perfect used car for my college going daughter. With a price range of 9 to 11,000 and low miles I had my work cut out. When I drove through the lot of Winthrop St Motors I was pleasantly surprised at the selection. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the prices compared to the prices at other dealerships. So I found a 2013 Elantra Limited with less than 50k on it and under $11,000 in excellent condition and fully loaded, with Leather. Chris came out to great me and immediately provided me a dealer plate and off I went. It drove like a champ so put a deposit to hold it until I could get my daughters approval. No pressure and no stupid degrading sales pitches. A couple of days later I brought my daughter to the dealership and Chris's cousin Vinnie was there who took great care of us. Chris was at an auction picking up more gems. Anyway, we took it for a drive and she fell in love with it. It was the perfect car, perfect color, perfect features, exactly what she was looking for. We pulled up, told him we wanted it and off it went for a bath. From the time we told Vinnie to write it up, to the time we drove the car away was less than 30 minutes, a record for buying a car in my book. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my daughter signing the docs and saw only a singe fee added to the price.. $20 Doc fee was it. We came up from RI so we knew we needed to go to DMV ourselves to transfer tags and pay taxes but not a big deal since we saved all that money on the purchase. From past experiences with previous purchases at other dealerships those extra fees usually would add up to 5 or $600 plus the taxes and then you get the sales pitch to purchase additional coverage. This was just an all around great experience and am looking forward to going back the next time I'm in the market for a car. I can't believe I just said that about a car dealership but they really are that good. Easiest buying experience I've ever had. Having been jerked around by another dealer,I went to see these guys and found exactly what I wanted.Having my own financing, I gave Vinny a deposit on Wed. He worked with me on the price and I had the truck on Friday. Wow. After an inspection turned up some issues, I called Vinny, he had me bring it back,and everything was fixed with out question. I want to start off on how good the owner and his wife are !!! When I went and looked at the car I fell in love with the car I put a down payment on it ! They where not pushy at all I got the 2011 Ford Fusion s I want start off by saying they cleaned out the car very good he gave me a oil change then my dad had pointed out it needed breaks and 2 back tires the owner went and did all of that. Before o picked up my car witch was very nice that same day I went and picked up the car a check engine light came on for a few things they replaced it no questions asked took care of the codes for me witch was nice then I went and got a sticker they rejected me said that my ball joints where bad so I called them back and I have to schedule my appointment to get them replaced I'll put a update in later on how that went but so far Kim and her husband are very good on taking care of there customers! Just wasted my time. I called about a VW Beetle 5-speed. From the pics on the Internet the car looked great. Low miles, nice condition of body and clearly detailed interior. It was silver with light gray interior. Nice and clean. Called and it was available so I took a drive there-and I don't live close by either. Well, the vin matched up but the car was in poor condition. And the interior was black, worn, and had holes. Outside had dings, scrapes, and was clearly not the same. Owner (didn't catch his name) looked at the pics I had on my iPhone. First he said that the gray interior showed up darker on my phone. Then he blamed it on photographer. I pointed out the differences between the photos and the car. Clearly they were pics of that car. And he had no other 5-speed Beetle on the lot. Old bait and switch. And the price he wanted was for excellent condition. read more

I remember I went to this place to look for a used car, and I saw one I was interested in and asked him questions about the car and he was totally cold, dismissive, uninviting and was behaving like I was disgusting and shouldn't have been there. He answered with very short non-answers as he was folding his arms and giving me a glare. I ended up just leaving with him still glaring at me without a word. I do not know what issue he had with me but I can guess why. I've never gone there ever again. read more

Buyers beware the used cars may look nice at first glance but their imperfections are covered In rust, and most likely painted over to mask the rust and or scratches on the paint. The cars will look nearly perfect because they paint over the imperfections to make it look perfect. I bought from Winthrop motors last year and purchased a hyundai tiburon and not even a year later I found 2 cracks in my wheels one of which was welded over and I also found paint of a different color smudged underneath the white paint which was revealed by the rust. In summary do not buy based on looks take some serious time and take the car to a dealer and lift it up to make sure they didn't take a short cut for repairs to try to practically steal your money. read more

These people are absolutely horrible . They got me interested in purchasing a Volkswagen that I really wanted and told me they would hold it for me and when I went down there they said that they had just sold it.. Then they showed me a few other cars and I decided to purchase a 2000 Pontiac grand am with 100k on it it seemed like a fine car until a few months later and it is becoming a money pit quickly.. Brake lines, air conditioning , engine cooling , all have to be replaced now a the radio stopped working, and the electrical is acting up. I paid $ 3000 for a car with this many problems and when they sold me the vehicle it had a few minor issues they assured me they were going to fix upon purchasing the vehicle ...the passenger window they said they where going to fix for me they glued shut...these guys are the lowest of the low for used car sales. Also, when I came to pickup the car a purchased from them they had the car I originally wanted hidden in the back of the lot...out right liars read more

If I could give zero stars to this place I would. We purchased our car at this place a little over 2 years ago, and have had NOTHING but problems with this car. We should have known it was going to be a problem ridden car when the car failed inspection TWICE after leaving the lot (we had to bring the car back to the dealership twice since they guaranteed it would pass inspection and it didn't...TWICE!!). They were less than helpful when trying to schedule a time for us to come back in to have the car fixed (which should have been fine to begin with), and then they said they "fixed" the problem, and turns out they didn't!! When looking for a car and at the pictures online they cleverly left off pictures of the damaged parts of the car and where parts of the car was missing pieces (there was a piece missing on the inside covering the fuses). We were told that this car was in great condition, yet I seriously don't think we have gone 6 months without this car having an issue in the 2 years we've owned it. I would NEVER go to this place again and I specifically tell people to NEVER look there. read more
