Left a foot wide blunt end of a very thick 10 foot branch, saying it would grow new life. That didn't even make common sense to me at the time, because the branch was basically already dead. So, I had him put in writing that he would come back if it failed to grow anything. Sure enough, after waiting for months, and nothing growing, I left two phone messages and one email to please come back and cut the branch to the trunk, as he already indicated in both words and writing that he would. Our huge c. 70 yr old Brazilian Pepper tree dropped some big branches last week, smashing our yard. I called around for a few opinions and went with McMartin based on a recommendation from a neighbor, their knowledge as arborists, and their competitive quote. Unfortunately, our beautiful tree was deemed hazardous based on their expertise, so we opted to have it removed, including the stump. John M. (the owner) and his crew showed up on time and by the end of the day, our tree was reduced to a mound of wood chips. They used ropes to lower cut branches safely to the ground and hauled the rest away. Very professional. I'm a bit heartbroken over the loss of such a beautiful tree, so I don't really know what else to say other than that they did the work I hired them to do safely and efficiently, and John P. who gave me my estimate kept in touch throughout. John M. stayed on site the whole day to direct his crew.
