I want to start by saying I have used them for 2 years and never had issues before today. I was dropping off my shirt (a womens tall size 4 shirt that measures 31.5 inches). They decided to charge me $20 because it was too long and considered it a dress (shirt is $15 I believe). When I realized this, I notified them and asked them what why they charged me more than a regular shirt and he just kept insisting it was too long to be a shirt. My boyfriend had dropped this shirt off for me before and have never been charged as anything other than a shirt! That's when I realized he had based that decision solely off of my short stature (The shirt is oversized on me). He was unable to give me the length at which the size was considered oversized because they had no fixed measurement. I even measured it against my boyfriend's size M shirt to see if it is "too long" like he insisted and here's the photo (blue is men's medium, white is mine). They are friendly, but I do have a problem being charged a pink tax or getting additional charges tagged on without a concrete rule. They were fine with the refund and gave my money back. I will never use them again unfortunately. They are very friendly but they did the worst job; we dropped off a lot of clothes but unacceptable. I had pickup/delivery service and had three bags for them. My clothes, my boyfriends, and our towels/sheets. When I called in I said it was three separate bags. Upon return it was ALL mixed in two bags and it was like a scavenger hunt...but the bad part is that my clothes WERE STAINED. I have several Nike sweatpants, jeans, and shirts ruined with a red/oily looking stain. I am FURIOUS. Unfortunately I did not call because it took use over a week to get the laundry sorted out (it already takes me a while when its just my clothes!) and I was hoping it was one or two items; its over 6 pieces of clothing ruined. I walked in to a store still in the holiday spirit. The friendly worker here went over the rates for each type of clothing, and the different services they offer. I left my suit in their care, and they told me that it would be done two days later. Due to my schedule in school, I was not able to come back for a week. However, once I did pick up my suit, I noticed what an outstanding job they did making my suit look pristine. Now I'll be shining bright come the next practical exam or networking event. These guys are not your ordinary dry cleaners. They are heroes. I'm not even joking. On the day of my son's bar mitzvah, we had a major crisis. Upon arrival at our synagogue, we discovered much to our horror that his suit jacket and some other very important items had been forgotten in the back of a yellow cab. Worse still, the driver had been paid in cash and we didn't even have a receipt with the medallion number on it. Given that it was the Saturday before Memorial Day, I assumed that tracking down these items was a lost cause, and we would either never see them again, or maybe they'd turn up at a taxi lost and found some time in the next month. Then my phone rang. It was my man Rolando from MCMB Cleaners, the guy who always greets me with a smile, telling me to write a number down--the number to the police precinct in Central Park--where the taxi driver had apparently just dropped off all of my kid's stuff. The suit jacket was still in the dry cleaning bag, which had their number on it, and my name was printed on the ticket. Some quick detective work had just been performed, and within minutes, I had dispatched a family member to pick up the lost items. Any ordinary dry cleaner might not have made the effort to urgently solve such a crisis, but not Rolando at MCMB Cleaners. He knew how important this event was for me and my family, and made sure to track me down right away. As long as I live in NYC, I will never use another dry cleaner. I had just moved to Harlem for my job and was in need of finding a new alterations place for my work uniforms (i'm a flight attendant for a US carrier). This place was conveniently located around the corner from my place, and i dropped off 4 sets of pants to be hemmed and tapered. The guys here were very meticulous with the job and explained to me the process and how the finished product would look when they pinned me. The job was quick (took less than a week) and the price was fair for the work that needed to be done and quality. I now only come here for any major alterations as well as any odds and ends i need done (re-threading, sewing buttons back on, etc). I could not be more pleased with the tailoring services I received - I had a Canada Goose parka with a broken double zipper that I wanted replaced with a single zipper. Rolando spent a great deal of time with me trying to figure out which zipper to use and what they could actually do for me, and was up front about the price (which although seemed high at first, upon reflection was completely reasonable given the amount of careful work it entailed). I ended up buying a replacement zipper on amazon and bringing it in and the work they did was AMAZING! And done in exactly the time they said it would be done. They do my laundry and my dry cleaning all the time, and my tailoring when I eff up some item of clothing or buy something that doesn't necessarily, actually, technically fit. Same day service, high quality, my laundry doesn't come back smelling strongly of summer rain or lavender fields, and the prices are in line with the competition. No complaints. I live a stone's throw from about five or six dry cleaners. They all do alterations too. I have been trying them one by one since we moved to the West Side. A neighbor, who grew up here, asked why was I going to anyone else besides McMB? So--I gave them a shot with this last zipper issue I had on a designer vest. I was nervous that I had really screwed it up and would defile my piece of clothing by trying to sort out the issue myself. This is my Harlem cleaners. I like my shirts to be perfectly ironed as well as my suits. everything is ready from this place as if they came from the store. I also have items altered here, pants and cuffs, all done on time and beautifully. The white shirts always have a perfect white collar as for me is very important to see the sweat stains gone. I used to schlep all of my clothes with me downtown when I worked in Midtown. Too many bad experiences with the cleaners uptown. But, that was becoming untenable. Then when I started my own business, it was just ridiculous. So, I had to find a solution. One day I was walking up 8th and saw this place. Thought it was worth a try. Welp! I will be with them until the end. They are quick, do a great job, are professional, and honest! They pick up and deliver quickly and on-time. Once there was an issue with a delivery. They said they delivered the clothes, my doorman didn't have them. The owner called and did everything he could to try to rectify the situation AFTER HOURS. Lo, and behold, there was a miscommunication between my doormen, so the clothes were here. But, I appreciated the owners desire to make things right. Having lived away from NYC for a few years, I've forgotten what a luxury it is to have such a service, and McMb does not disappoint.
