I would agree with the rest of the reviews. Pretty standard McMenamin's stuff. Funky atmosphere, friendly people, decent food, good beer. The lousy rating was for the service that was really lacking on the one day I went to the Monroe location. It was a beautiful Friday and perhaps most of the staff called in sick but the service was totally lame. read more

I'm not sure why there are bad reviews on this place. My Wife and I have been coming here for over twenty years, and we've always enjoyed ourselves! The Stuffed Burger, and the High Pasta are awesome, as well a the beer! Nice to sit in the bar by the fireplace. read more

McMenamins is always hit and miss. This one was good when I visited. Their beers always good, and you can't go wrong with the Cajun tots. I had a Dungeon burger (Swiss cheese & grilled mushrooms) and added bacon, it was very tasty. It wasn't crowded when I visited. read more

Their nemo burger is pretty good. I just know what makes this place pop out, what is it that makes me want to come back? It's not the flair of the place, although nice, the food menu lacks with the charm of the restaurant. The limited menu that has food similar to others isn't going to do it. read more

This was my first time to a McMenamins. We decided to go here for dinner. I was not feeling overly hungry when we arrived due to a late lunch, so I opted for the soup (clam chowder) and salad. The price was good for what I got. I wasn't a huge fan of the chowder as it was gritty. I know there is always a risk of this with chowder, but I won't be ordering it again here. Everyone else was very happy with their orders and I would like to go back and try some of the other fare. Service was most excellent and the atmosphere was perfect. read more

I like the service, the seating, the décor, clam chowder Fridays, the spinach artichoke dip, and the selection of cocktails. I have had several good experiences here; I just wish it were more conveniently located with more parking, but oh well. read more

Love this location! It's a super cozy and comfortable setting. We had a great flight of beer, a Bloody Mary, cheese soup, and a burger with tots! Everything was super tasty and the service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back! read more

Cozy. Funny. Welcoming. These things all describe this place and the people who work there. It's the first McMenamins I visited (1993) and still one of my favorite places in Corvallis. I routinely try different things on the menu, and so far they've all been good. I especially love the cajun tots as a side. Hammerhead is still one of my favorite beers, even with all the great brews available from around the Willamette and Oregon in general. A waiter named Steven is not only hilarious (and fabulously knowledgeable about music) but quite good at what he does with great knowledge of the food and beer menus. Not to put too sentimental a point on it, but going to this place often feels like going over to a friend's house for a meal. read more

5 stars for the voodoo wings! Never had a wing come even close to them. They are spicy and deep and yet don't hammer your palate so much that you can't taste their awesome flavor. Went to lunch with my wife. She didn't care too much where we went, just as long as it was warm. So we went to McMenamins and I sat her by the fireplace, and the server threw another log on the fire. She was happy! Had a nice lunch... Bowl of soup, a Communication Breakdown garden burger (Garden Commie), and split fries. Real nice lunch! read more

Very hot today, and as we had family with us from out of town, we thought we might take them for a refreshing drink and something tasty to eat! Naturally, we headed to McMenamins! The food today was pretty tasty, the Portland Dip was so flavorful, the black and bleu steak bites were tender and juicy! The fish and chips were left in the fryer far too long! But all in all, it was not bad. The service on the other hand was AWFUL! I have never met a waiter that rude ever. It was clear that he did not want to be waiting on us, let alone be at work at all today! Our family commenters on the service and asked if it was "normal". The service was so bad, that it actually ruined our entire meal! We will never bring family or friends to this McMenamins again, I am sad to say! read more

I have lived here for 25 years and they seem to hire only the grumpiest, snarkiest, out of touch with customer service employees I've ever seen. consistently. There have been a few long term employees there that were amazing. Late night happy hour people? Not so much. They act like you are just a big fat pain in the rear they have to deal with. Resting bitch face perfected. I've been in the industry for many many years, and these people really need to step up the game. It's pretty consistent with other mcmenamins I have visited in other towns as well. Except the one on Monroe. ALWAYS had great service there. read more

I have been a big fan of Mcmenamins for a long time but I have to say there menu is getting very stale. I love the place but I would like a more varied food selection. I feel like their menu has been unchanged for the past twenty years. Also, I feel the pricing is out stripping the quality and quantity. $15.00 for a chicken salad seemed way too much when I could have gotten a prime rib dinner with all the trimmings for the same price at another restaurant in town. The food is ok, but grossly overpriced. I was with a large group and tried all the beers they brew and they were pretty bad (except for the terminator, but who wants to drink a stout when it is warm out?), tasted watered down and flavorless. Incredibly disappointing, especially for $4.50 a pint for beer that tastes like flavored keystone light. The service is usually bad, but on this last visit it was really good (and they were busy no less). Still, I don't care how good the service is if the product is no good. The service is about like any other McM's. Not tip-top, but nice enough when they do arrive at your table. Food takes a bit, but is typically tasty pub fare. Happy hour specials are good and their seasonal beers worth a taste (and perhaps even a whole taster tray or pint, if meets your hankering). A good enough establishment to warrant a visit from time to time when in the McM's mood. I like the happy hour salad or hummus and son likes the burger and fries. The food is good, but there are very few options. By that I mean there is a one-sided, one page menu that is primarily sandwiches with a few burgers tossed in and a couple salads. However, that's not the issue I have with the place. The issue I have is that the service is TERRIBLE. Most of the servers are not very personable, and some of them are downright cold. More importantly, my friend and I went in there during a VERY slow time (there were about three other groups of 2-3 in there) and it took them 45 minutes to get my sandwich and her soup out of the kitchen!!! read more

Average pub food but at an above-average price. I hardly ever go here as I prefer greasier pub food (a la Squirrels and the RIP Fox and Firkin). I do prefer the 3rd St location for the atmosphere as opposed to the Monroe location. If I were more of a beer drinker I'd probably go to McMenamins more. read more

I had to laugh when I read Mandy L.'s review, which in its entirety states "This one has better service than Monroe." Yup, that about covers it. The atmosphere here is cozy and not as visually entertaining as the Monroe location. I've had very good experiences with waitstaff, and other times less so. Stopped in for a beer and a snack after weathering the weather. Our order was not right (beers and food) initially and we finally got it right in the end. Food was fine once we got it straightened out. Beer was fine. We were on the bar side with three other tables so I hope the restaurant side was swamped because our service was slow the order was jumbled. read more

This is my favorite McMennamins. Generally McMennamins is known for its mediocre and often crap service. I have never had bad service nor bad food at this place. And I've came here off and on for ten years. If I couldn't get the same beverages here; I would swear I was not at McMennamins. Bonus, the crowd is usually made up of locals. read more

A typical McMenamins -- if you've been to one, you've been to them all! However service here is better than at most I've been to. Warm, darkish atmosphere. I love the High Pasta (although they skimp on the parmesan, I ask for extra) and the hamburgers and fries are always good.
