This place is something special. It has an amazing patio and a cozy Irish pub vibe that makes it feel instantly welcoming. Service was excellent, even with our group of 17--they handled us with ease. The menu is packed with fun appetizers and specialty cocktails. Definitely try the tater tots, they're a standout. Our group ordered a wide range of mains, from fish and chips to gumbo to the wild cod, which I'd highly recommend. We didn't try dessert, so I can't speak to that, but the whiskey bar was a big hit with our group. There's also a charming little shop next door that's worth a visit after your meal. read more

Visited for the first time today. "Tiki bar" theme was fun. Pool was comfortably warm; but windows were open which made being out of the pool chilly. Floats and balls are provided for fun play time with kids. Pool is large enough for patrons to have your own "area". Pool is a little "tired"; some maintenance necessary around the pool edges to re-finish/re-paint and water falls weren't working. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food and drink. A few things to know (that were unclear to me): 1. You need to bring your own padlock for the lockers; none are provided or available to buy 2. It is absolutely a waste of time to come here. We were turned away at 3:45PM because the session was full. Then we came again at 4:25, before they even started selling tickets for the 5PM session. Yet we were turned away despite being in the line that early. The staff was terrible - they would never notify the people in the long line that their quota was about to be reached, and when it was, they simply put a sign on the counter and turned back. Tiki lovers take note - this spot is a lovely respite from the IPAs of the region, no offense We appreciated the rum flight, featuring their own three rums YAY. I ordered the Missionary's downfall, which they make with muddled and strained mint, and it was delicious and refreshing. We dipped into the food menu long enough for a brownie and I do recommend this tasty treat and assume the other food is just as rewarding. Ugh I have not been happy with Mcmennamins food/service for a long time but we could always count on their tater Tots. Until now! What happened? One order of tots $15 (after tax). But these are not the tots we know and love. They smelled like funnel cake, tasted completely saltless and were pale and not their usual crunchy self. The server was very sweet but that doesn't make up for our disappointment. Couldn't even complain because we took them to go. Needless to say, even the tots are no longer worth it which is really really sad because we love coming to Mcmennamins, it's such an awesome place. But the food is a let down every time. read more

I love the North Shore Lagoon. That's because I love the pork belly bahn mi and the Tokyo Tots. The rest of my family tolerates it because the menu isn't as varied as some of the other restaurants, but when I can get them to go there with me I'm always happy. The one thing I wish they'd do is add the Tokyo Tots as a side option with an upcharge. They will usually do it if I ask, but they always have to go talk to the kitchen and get a price for me. If I'm having a full dinner, I don't want a full thing of the tots, I just want them as my side. Charge me 3-4 bucks extra and we're all good! The service can be spotty here. Though friendly enough, it seems the employees are usually running around and it seems things maybe aren't super organized here. Post-Covid that seems to be the norm everywhere but I miss the days of personalized customer service where you feel welcome for being there. Despite the negatives I will continue to make time to get to the Lagoon. The drinks here are strong, the food is great, and it's one of the few McMennamin's locations where you don't usually have to wait long to get a table. My friend and I came here to Nui Nui for happy hour. My friend was excited. She liked the decor. We thought it was a fun place. We started off with cocktails ($2.00 off during HH). I got the Original Zombie and she got the Painkiller. They were both strong drinks, and I liked that. I ordered the Cajun Tots, Aloha Bowl, and Saigon Kick Chicken Tenders off the HH menu. She ordered the Big Wave Brussel Sprouts off the HH menu and half size of Mai Tai Salad with a side of grilled shrimp. Food was good, nothing amazing. The Aloha Bowl came with mushy rice, which I'm not a fan of. The chicken tenders were a bit dry. I like the Cajun Tots, but my friend didn't like it as much as I did. I took the leftovers home and put it in the air fryer; so much better. My friend said her salad definitely needed the side of shrimp. But all the food had lots of flavor. It got pretty busy, so service was slow, but staff was very friendly. Prices are more on the pricier side for being happy hour. My drink was still $16, after the $2 off for HH. read more

Order king pao cauliflower, which was marked as vegan. It was good but heavily breaded and salty. Also was soggy. Was hoping it would be crispy. Mai Thai salad was really good, also marked as vegan. I really Loved the flavor and lightness of it. This place does have great drinks. Ordered a Dark and Stormy, probably one of the best I've had. Space is small. I came here on a Tuesday at around 6:30pm. It was tough finding a parking spot in the summer even though there are tons of spots. Eventually I parked about a 10 minute walk away close to the library. To get to the bar when you walk into the building take the stairs to your right to the second floor. What was also surprising was the view from the bar down to the pool. I loved all the tiki decorations but I also liked that it wasn't as dark as other tiki bars I've been to, but maybe it's more dim later in the night. For drinks I ordered the zombie ($15) which was obviously potent but delicious! My second drink was the jungle bird ($12) which was also a great drink. For food I ordered the pork belly bahn mi ($16.25) which was so good! The pork belly was perfectly cooked and so flavorful, and all the other toppings balanced the fattiness of the pork belly with some freshness and crunch. We also ordered the tokyo tots ($14.25) which was divine. The pork belly lardons give the flavor bomb and the crunch, and the sauces give sweetness and spiciness. Tater tots (and especially tater tots) are my kryptonite so this was the perfect dish for me. They also have happy hour from 3-6pm Monday through Friday which we had originally hoped to make but didn't get here on time. They have some pretty good deals during happy hour so I'll have to make the trip back here someday! read more

Really disappointing experience. The bartenders had a terrible attitude and flat out refused to remake our drinks, even though they tasted like they had zero alcohol in them. No garnishes like the menu photos, wrong cups, and zero effort to make things right. Honestly felt like they couldn't care less. This cozy tiki bar delivers potent cocktails and delicious food. This tropical theme pub is right on Bothell Way road (SR527) and located in the floor overlooking the community pool. The space is decked out in tikis and tropical wood. I especially love the ambient lighting and comfortable booths. The were drinks deliciously strong with a tropical twist. My first drink was the Missionary's Downfall which was a mix of rum, pear brandy, pineapple, lime, and mint. The drink was easily consumed without any issues. My second was The Original Zombie which was also rum based with absinthe, grapefruit, and paradise syrup. Absolutely delicious. The food was equally delightful. I ordered the pork belly banh mi and shishito peppers. The banh was flavorful and pork belly was tender. The shishito peppers were well-seasoned and was the perfect shareable appetizer. Service was attentive and my drinks were delivered promptly. I'm definitely keeping this spot as one of my local go-to for drinks. read more

I've been a return customer of Tavern on the Square for their outdoor area, but North Shore is a good alternative when sitting outside isn't a priority. The only weird thing about the ambiance is that it overlooks the indoor pool and it's so dark! The food itself is pretty good, and I like the options way more than the other restaurants at McMenamins. The drinks here are STRONG (not a bad thing), and I would especially give a word of caution to the "Zombie" cocktail. Overall though, I would return! read more

After being ignored across the street at the Tavern, We popped up here for maybe a little bit of service and some food. Again, We were met with an indifferent and unfriendly staff which I've emphasized in other reviews that the overall air of the employees at McMenamins leaves a lot to be desired. I don't need somebody to be a friend, but a smile at the very least, goes a long way. Everyone just seems impatient and pissed off. This Tiki Bar is very tiki barish, and there is a slight sour smell that was unpleasant, perhaps it's because of the proximity to the pool. The drinks are definitely specific to each restaurant, and don't even try to ask for another drink that you saw on another menu or you will be met with hostility, even if you're super nice about it. But at least we were given service here, even though not once in the entire couple of hours we sat there were we offered any water. The special drinks are rum based, and we chose the least sweet ones on the menu and they weren't bad but definitely not worth the $15 that they were charging for a short glass full of crushed ice. Apparently halfway through the shift of the surly bartender ended and we did get a little bit friendlier of a server who was a little bit more attentive. The food is always good. The tots with the pork we're crunching and had an interesting almost sweet sauce on top. There could have been a little bit more pork that was a little less cooked but I'd order it again. The kale salad hands down was fresh and delicious. The fish sauce and lime dressing was to die for. Calling it a kale salad was a stretch as it was mostly just a spring green salad, but it was delicious in the addition of edamame was perfect. Again, if McMenamins could figure out why the staff is so unfriendly, I could be giving four and five stars, The considering how expensive it is to go out these days I don't want to feel bad as a patron because of the general negativity. Everyone loves a friendly staff, even a neutral staff is great, but at McMenamins as a whole they are just downright grumpy. read more

She helped with some of the food choices I was contemplating. I got the Hula Fried Rice which was really good with a bit of a spicy kick. The presentation was beautiful but the food was even better. North Shore Lagoon has good food including great vegan options! I ordered a sandwich and the spiced tots. The sandwich was super yummy, I really enjoyed the bread, and the tots were phenomenal! The tots are just crunchy enough and the spice is generous but not overpowering. The decor in the place is really interesting. There is bamboo and various tropical artifacts all over the place. Cute polynesian themed pool off main street in Bothell. It is an odd length if you're a swimmer or if you are used to a 25 yard or 50 meter pool. This one feels about 30 meters long and is kind of arbitrary. There aren't flags for swimming on your back and also no lines painted in the pool lane bottoms. Don't expect to know where to begin your flip turn! The shallow end is very very shallow..like 2 feet shallow or so. The temperature hovers around 87-90 degrees (like a nice bath!) And even if you're swimming in your own lane it may be disconcerting to see groups of adults just standing around in groups chatting in this not very well ventilated indoor space. The areas where you can leave your towel and personal items are limited and you only get an hour in the water before you have to exit. They book lanes by the hour up to 10 days in advance and this must be done via phone during business hours. read more

McMenamin's Anderson School is a repurposed old junior high school in Bothell that consists of several bars/restaurants, a hotel, a theatre, and a gift shop. We went to The North Shore Lagoon, which is housed in the old school gym (complete with working swimming pool!) The restaurant sits on top and to the side of the swimming pool and looks down on it. The restaurant is kitted out in full-blown Indonesian/Polynesian wonder (I think more Indo than Polynesian though). Lots of attention was paid to the tiki-style decor and it's really a fun and atmospheric place to eat. Just a quick note about the pool before I get back to the restaurant: it's a 50m Olympic-sized pool, rare in this part of the world. They do group lessons there but also open it up to the public for lap swimming at certain times of the day. If you're a Bothell resident, you can get in free! Ok. Food-wise, we were all happy with our meals. My parents had burgers and I had the vegan hemp-patty sandwich with a side of tater tots (you can choose fries instead but I'm a 30-something-year-old child and I wanted my tater tots, OK?) The hemp sandwich was good, really hit the spot. Would be great if they had a couple more vegan options on the menu but I enjoyed what I had and would happily go back. The server was super nice, explained to us the McMenamin's concept and all the other little bars/restaurants clustered around the school complex. Pretty cool what they've done with an old school. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to file a formal complaint about an incident of discrimination that occurred at your public swimming pool in Washington, on [Friday 05/24/2024]. My friends and I, all of whom are Muslim and wear hijabs, arrived at the pool around 6:20 PM with our children, ages 3 and 1. We were accompanied by our Arab friends and their children. Despite being informed that we could stay for two hours, we were asked to leave at 7:00 PM. When we requested to stay for an additional hour, we were refused with the explanation that it was a holiday, even though the pool was not crowded and we customarily stay for the full two hours every Friday. As we were preparing to leave, my friend and I went to change clothes while our other friend, who is 21 years old, stayed with the children. When we returned, an employee accused us of leaving our children unsupervised, which was untrue. Our children were under the supervision of our friend. The employee then informed us that we were no longer welcome at the pool. This treatment made us feel unwelcome and targeted due to our religious and ethnic background. We have always followed the rules and ensured our children were supervised. We are deeply concerned about this discriminatory behavior and seek a resolution. The North Shore Lagoon is pretty cool and easy to miss if you are visiting the main complex across the parking lot. This area consists of a huge pool, an upstairs restaurant and an outdoor courtyard extension of the restaurant. I've been trying to explore my outdoor eating/drinking establishments as it is summer and covid is encouraging us to dine outside. I was very surprised on a recent visit to find that the pool was open by reservation and got super excited to check it out (in fact I am hesitant to tell others). This has always been my favorite part of the Anderson School, but it is the best on a warm summer day. The very large pool has an enclosed partially open air design, it's heated and filled with salt water. There are often lots of kids around, but the island theme helps you escape a little bit. I like to come here in a variety of weather to enjoy the rain/snow falling thru slits into the heated pool, or take advantage of the day time sunlight peeking down thru the sky opening. Looks like they are planning to have water aerobics available here sometime soon and that seems like such a great idea, or there are lanes if you just want to swim laps. Whether you come to swim or not, the upstairs restaurant also shares the island design, and provides for fun people watching if you get a seat peeking out into the pool. It's dark and makes for a fun date night. I prefer this to the other restaurants on site and it is also just a good place to stop off for a drink. If it happens to be a warm sunny afternoon and you have just finished swimming you might try the outdoor courtyard area instead. I'm happy to find that there are currently a lot of vegan options on the menu, I enjoyed both the tostones and the kung pao cauliflower. I hear the pork belly bahn mi is also tasty. I do enjoy the Ruby beer, but cocktails, wine and cider are also available. read more

Joined a party of 4 here for dinner, drinks. Have been here before and its fine, not spectacular. My meal was Halibut and Chips with one glass of wine which came to about $53.00 The fish was so-so (crap batter, small piece), the fries were just bad (poorly made) and the house red Cab, awful. It was like someone added water to the wine. Look I know we have inflation but for the sake of quality ether raise them more and provide good quality food or get out of the business. The North Shore lagoon is fantastic! Absolutely massive, heated, stunningly beautiful Polynesian themed swimming pool with attached pub above, and with a heated patio on the side. Heated to a warm, comfortable level (although my wife felt it could be a tad warmer...your mileage may vary), this massive indoor swimming pool steams invitingly due to the contrast between the warm water and the cool, winter air wafting in from the massive windows. Open to hotel guests without requiring a reservation (a nice perk!), I was able to swim a few laps and relax, floating serenely, for the first time since COVID began. It's the small pleasures that you don't realize how much you miss them until they are taken away. read more

Prices are hidden too on all of the various menus, which is never a good omen... It's really noisy in there too, speakers blaring over the tables. Maybe to drown out screaming kids in the pool below? Evening started off with the waitress delivering a tray of 4 ice waters. Not exactly sure what happened with her or the tray, but I ended up with lap full of ice water. Mistakes happen, sure, but my jeans were literally soaked in an area that was pretty awkward. Finally got moved to a different booth. Crab dip was inedible--so fishy. Returned and credited. Entrees were ok. Time to pay- I gave my waitress my CC. Moments later she comes from the register past several tables saying very loudly-This debit card doesn't work. You need to pay! Turns out I gave her my HSA card instead of my Cc (hey, they are both blue). Got it figured out, but seriously? Perhaps some discretion instead of yelling for everyone to hear that my card doesn't work? Then I got to walk out with still wet pants, looking like a person who has peed herself and has no money. We went here just for the pool. It's free for Bothell residents and $8 for adults. Our kids were under 3 so they didn't have to pay admission. For small children, this pool is perfect for many reasons: - it's indoor - the depth of the pool goes from 2'6" to less than 5' - there are a bunch of balls and toys in the pool Our toddler is just learning how to get comfortable in the water and the ability for him to be able to stand in the water gave him more confidence. The only thing is that the bathrooms/locker rooms are gross but that's what you can expect with any public place. read more
