About 10 minutes from the Woodenville winery. As we stepped inside, a warm and enchanting ambiance wrapped around us, filled with the harmonious sounds of clinking glasses and plates that blended in perfect harmony. The heavenly aroma of freshly prepared food wafted through the air, teasing our senses and building excitement while the cozy decor instantly elevated our mood. With an exceptional selection of wine and drinks, plus captivating indoor and outdoor seating, it seemed every whim was thoughtfully catered to. Despite arriving at 1:00 to a lively crowd, we were seated promptly, thanks to the impeccable and exceptional service. Our server's remarkable attentiveness and expertise set the tone for a truly unforgettable meal, and another staff member exceeded our expectations, sharing delightful stories about all their special events, such as Happy Hour and Wine Wednesday, and inviting us back for dinner. She shared that the biscuits we inquired about were made in-house, a testament to the restaurant's pursuit of excellence. With customer service that inspires and leaves a lasting impression, we can't wait to return and relish the experience once more. I highly recommend the Biscuits and gravy, Eggs Benedict, or the Cottage Breakfast; all were truly spectacular! This place truly deserves a spot on your must-visit list, and I highly recommend it.

However, yesterday on 6/28 when the wait was too long so I decided to choose takeout, it was the worst service I've ever experienced. I walked inside, placed the takeout order, and was told it would be ready in about 15 minutes. I went outside to the bench to wait to realize the server didn't take my name for the order. After about 20 minutes had passed, I walked back inside to look for someone. I saw another server walk over when I was lost and waiting and she ended up helping another group who walked in after me, so I was ignored. Then I initiated the conversation and asked about my order and she said "Oh please wait outside and we will come out to give you your order when it's ready." I glanced over and noticed someone bagging takeout orders, so I walked back outside. Another 25 minutes passed and no one has come out to deliver my takeout order. It was about 45 minutes since I placed the order and I was not happy. I walked back inside and asked the server behind the counter. Mind you this is the 3rd server. They asked what I ordered (since my name was not taken down when the order was placed, it made it unorganized) and one of the two takeout bags that was sitting on the counter for a good 20 minutes I noticed it was my order. When I got home, the burger buns were all soggy and the fries were soft and not crispy anymore. This is such an unfortunate situation because I've always shared positive comments about The Cottage, but with the experience I had yesterday, I will be rethinking to come back.

Service was notably much more welcoming, the interior & vibe remained on point. The College Friend and birthday celebrant went all out and had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries. Notable was that the sizable chicken filet was both buttermilk and pickle juice brined. I opted for the buttermilk pancakes with a blueberry peach compote and a side of Hempler bacon. The fruit compote was so delicious, the maple syrup was a bit of an afterthought. So contrary to my previous review, I did return albeit 6.5 years later. And props to them, compared to other greater Seattle spots that have shuttered, The Guest House seems to have staying power in Kenmore.

Apparently they "stopped doing that" in September, which was unclear from their website or Yelp reviews/pics, and it wasn't just me--the table next to me asked their server the same thing. My friend and I got brunch-y drinks (mimosa, spicy Bloody Mary), and then each got one of the only two items on the menu that had eggs (shakshuka and a breakfast sandwich). While I can't comment on the shakshuka, the breakfast sandwich had thick bread that was toasted a bit too much and wrecked the roof of my mouth. The drinks were good but the sandwich + a mimosa set me back $30 before tip so I don't think I'll be coming back again--certainly not during "brunch" time!

The restaurant is cozy and though some of the tables are a little close to one another... they've done a great job working with the space they have. The exterior seating area is covered and has heaters. Most importantly, the food is AMAZING. The staff is friendly and the coffee is good. Solid portion sizes and the chefs do a great job cooking whatever you want exactly how you want it. ALL of the service staff are very professional in appearance and friendly. I will say, it isn't cheap but you're paying for corresponding quality (and the quality is solid). This is clearly a well run and maintained restaurant and has easily earned 5-Stars from me.

This location is popular and wait times can reach past the 40 minute mark. Despite the wait time, I was fully committed and parked myself on an outdoor bench with their provided guest pager in hand. There's indoor and covered heated patio seating. Given the currently balmy weather, I opted for indoor. My wait time was around 30 minutes and I was able to secure a comfy indoor window seat. Their menu is extensive and features breakfast and lunch items. They also have mimosas and cocktails. They also offer house made pastries. I opted for the Chorizo omelet with potatoes and a side of pancakes. The omelet was decent portion and delicious. The potatoes had a lovely pan char and was also well-seasoned. The pancakes were fluffy and was the final bite that activated my food coma. Needless to say, I requested a take home box. Service was friendly and prompt. This is definitely a solid spot for brunch or lunch. Parking can be tricky especially during the weekends. There are retail parking spots in the surrounding buildings.

We first started off with one of the blueberry coffee muffin cakes. It was the perfect amount of sweet, mixed with the blueberry bit (yum). We we ordered mimosas (can't go wrong there), my wife ordered the traditional breakfast with chicken sausage, and I ordered the burrito. In both cases, the potatoes were very soft and tasty and the bread and table raspberry jam from scratch is perfect. Probably one of the best burritos I've ever had for breakfast. We got the Cuban pork hash, ham hash (from the specials menu), corned beef hash, and breakfast burrito. The potatoes were unique because they were neither crispy but they weren't mushy either and very nicely fluffy inside. Also very well seasoned! The eggs were perfectly done and oozy, the hollandaise sauce was light, more so added for extra creaminess. I'm not usually the biggest fan of hollandaise sauce as I find it sometimes too heavy but this was less rich which was nice. The breakfast burrito was tasty, nice amount of filling. I enjoyed the cubes of ham and how it wasn't overly salty. Definitely eat with hot sauce and some black pepper. I think it would get a little mundane if you were to eat the whole thing yourself but it's not bad. The banana bread donut isn't really a donut. More so a banana bread Bundt cake. It was nice, slightly sweet with what tasted like whipped browned butter.

Never even knew this area existed, but here we are. Started out with an Acid BlackBerry Cider, and it did not disappoint. This place is actually pretty big, with tons of seating and ambiance. After some chit chat, we ordered and I went with the Double Smash Burger and regular Fries. In the mighty and powerful words of Buford T. Justice... "SOMBITCH!!" Hands down the BEST Smash Burger I've had! Paired perfectly with dill pickle slices, that double American Cheese, grilled onions and whatever sauce or spread they had on it...warning... it's juicy and can get a little sloppy, but that makes a solid smash burger!!! That meal perfectly hit the spot! Could be a bit pricey on the menu, but anymore, what place isn't? Either way, you can expect some awesome grub that won't break the bank... especially if the Director is picking up the tab ;). The service was great, the conversation and team was in good form and cheer, and the meal was spot on. Hoping one day I get back out this way as an excuse to stop by again. Thanks for the experience and as always, enjoy and have a Smashing Ol' Time!

Couple of misses...something is up with the acoustics because there is a constant din that you have to yell over to be heard by your table mates. They automatically add 20% which I was fine with because service was great, but just a heads up.
