Came here for bonsai bar workshop, but got a drink so I had something by me at the table while I worked. I got a small glass of some rando cider, but I think that I got charged a higher peace than what was listed on the chalkboard menu that hangs up above the cashier table. Staff was welcoming, but idk...was not feeing comfortable here. Very tight, too. Only like three stools to sit at if you decide to stay at this bar. Very cold here, too. At least the bathroom was spacious...arguably more than it had to be because would be nice to have more floor area at the front so more customers could be seated. Not much else to say except that the bonsai bar workshop was a cute experience, but also very hard to hear them because the portable heaters would be running, but gave out no heat after 30 minutes. We stop off here on almost every visit to downtown Bothell. It's located right in downtown and makes the perfect place to sit if you have been out walking or biking around and need to relax for a minute, or if you happen to be staying up the street at the Anderson school. The beer choices are pretty good, lots of interesting options which change frequently. They often have a food truck out front, but looks like this may be mostly Fridays. They tend to have a lot of events happening as well, if you are into that kind of thing. I think we came once for beer and donuts, but I do pay attention to the events I see posted on facebook and often consider this as a reason to make it out this way. The majority of seating is outside in a tent which can be a little uncomfortable in colder weather, but they do their best to try to heat it. In the summer they were able to expand to the street out front, but not certain if that was a special covid option. There's usually quite a few dogs out there too, hence the name. It can get crowded, your likely to have to share a table. I always forget they sell bottled beer as well. Everyone working has always been friendly, my partner tries to taster too many beers and they always accommodate him without issue. read more

Excellent choice of beers here! Someone in the group not into beer? Say what? There are wine options as well as ciders and delicious sours! They have a nice little patio area where you can enjoy your beverage and you are allowed to bring food from neighboring restaurants! We enjoyed a couple of rose pours here before I spotted the guava hibiscus sour from Payette brewing in Boise! So much flavor and the right amount of sour. Just how I like it! Right now they are practicing social distancing and allowing only one person in the lobby at a time with a second register at the back for ordering once you've been seated out back. There are so many good options available in this tiny footprint of space right off the main drag in Bothell. I look forward to future visits to this neat spot! read more

Now that I have a puppy, I am always on the lookout for places I can take my fur baby to. I found the Hope and Hound on Yelp and I am so glad that I did!! This place has a great beer selection (draft and can/bottle options) and the menu rotates. While they don't serve food there, there are plenty of food options near by for you to pick up and bring there OR you can take advantage of the food trucks on the weekend. There is good amount of seating outdoors that is covered and uncovered. It was slightly tricky finding a patch of grass for my puppy to go to the restroom but we were able to find one 2 blocks away! The beer selection and service is excellent but... The tent is cramped, not airy enough (mostly zipped closed) and the table dividers are too small. I felt uncomfortable Covid-wise and could not wait to escape after the first round. If you are concerned about Coronavirus I would not recommend going here. If they had larger dividers, opened the tent more and spaced out the tables I'd definitely go back. read more

Hop and Hound, located in downtown Bothell and just off SR522 is a dog friendly hop shop. They specialize in craft beers and growlers. In fact, you can even download their app on iTunes and Google Play to see what's on tap. For our first visit, I decided to try the Dragon Fruit cider. It was not too sweet or dry and perfectly solidified my decision to visit this shop again. I recommend checking out the hall of dog wall. You can even post your own picture with your canine companion. Check out the small selections of dog treats located by the counter. Though they don't have food on their menu board, there is a schedule of food trucks available on their website. Wow. Horrible experience there this past weekend. I watched the owner get intoxicated and insult the gentlemen who had brought their food truck there at his request. He was rude, volatile and obnoxious in front of all of his patrons and combative towards them. There is always at least one Imperial IPA and one Imperial Stout (my two favorite styles) among the 14 beers on tap, the proprietors are very knowledgeable and personable, and the outside patio area is a nice place to hang out - with or without dogs. The only thing I don't always like here is the music, which is always some flavor of hard rock. I like some flavors of hard rock, but some of the music played here can be pretty raucous and aurally intrusive, so I rarely stay for more than one beer. My wife and I stopped by with our dog and waited to be seated but the staff literally ignored us: (1) not moving out the way of the door to let us in to try and request a table and (2) literally walking by my wife multiple times without acknowledging her presense. I heard the beer was good but didn't get a chance to get any service. I've had to drop my review of this place. We have always had great customer service and love what Eric and Lauren have brought into Bothell. The issue I have had is each time I look at the beer selections on Facebook or in the shop they seem to be very IPA heavy. I'm not an IPA fan. Then the other selections may not be IPA's but they are super hoppy anyway. We have also had issues with ill-mannered dogs on the patio that have kinda left a sour taste in our mouths with our experience there. If you like hoppy beer and you have a dog, I will still advise you to give it a try! I wish we could go more, but given we usually can't find a beer we like or end up enjoying, we frequent other places in the Bothell region. read more

These guys have scored a fantastic location in Main Street Bothell and they are absolutely tearing it up as a specialty craft beer bar. They're right on the shoulder of how Main Street now overlooks Bothell Way, and they've made the most of a small shoebox-shaped space on a side street that links those two thoroughfares. There's tons of seating upstairs, and tons of covered seating outside in the parking lot. The outside space features several picnic tables cloaked in by tent-like walls and roofing. There's even a decent-sized flat-screen out there, usually showing the game. Inside, it feels like it barely has any footprint at all, at least when you first walk in. There are a couple of coolers with a small variety of bottles there. There are about 14 faucets pouring behind the bar, usually with very small-batch local stuff or very interesting beers from out of state--sometimes featuring kegs that are very hard to get. They're steadily building up a nice network with breweries and distributors. The prices are fair here, given the quality and scarcity of the beers on offer. The staff is small--just a younger couple and their dog. That hound seems kinda barky at first, but he's perfectly friendly and loves the company that he gets from "working" here. Evidently, the owners are fairly new to the beer world, but you'd never guess it. They're learning so fast and doing such a great job that all bases are covered. For beer lovers, there's been a pretty long geographical gap between the east side and the north end. Bothell and Kenmore had decent places to grab a pint, but nothing that really specialized in unusual stuff. These guys have turned that around completely, and now are pouring stuff that not too many other places have. Will definitely be back. read more

Wow,beers with my best friend... my dog Roscoe! Not a micro drinker, however, with the tasting cups,and knowledge from staff,was able to actually find a great beer. The staff here is so welcoming and friendly. Also had dog treats for my furry companion. Outside seating was the only area I went to,or rather my dog wanted. Cute picnic atmosphere,,water for me or dog self serve. Would suggest bringing towels or something, as there seemed to be dog hair from previous dogs all over ground where dogs lay .Would like to have staff sweep more for that reason. Ugh. I still sometimes swing in for a beer or a can to go, but ugh. The place itself is fine--albeit a bit grungy. I can handle that and in some cases like places like this because: character. The outdoor seating is really a half-assed effort though. The area is placed in the back parking lot (which is fine) but the ground slants away from the building, which is really annoying. I would have expected them to build a flat level deck, but no. The people who work there are generally okay, but there is something about them I can't put my finger on. Indifference maybe? The beer selection is also generally okay--good for Bothell (considering the complete dearth of the area), but it's not much better than very average places in Seattle. My biggest problem is the price. All the beers are at least $1.50 more than they should be--and some much more. I can handle a markup for a great view, a fantastic space or because I have no other choice, like at the airport, but this is Bothell. Rent can't be that high. If prices were normal for the types of beer Hop and Hound serve, I'd be happy to overlook the other faults, but come on. read more

Love this tiny little hole in the wall. I stopped in this past weekend, they have about 14 beers on tap. The taps weren't as diverse and interesting as I prefer, but I'm a total beer nut, it takes a lot for a tap list to surprise me. They also had a great selection of bottles and cans, one was from Everybody's Brewing which I LOVE and never see so that was super cool. They charge $2 to drink the bottles or cans on premise. Beautiful outdoor patio, that's where this place really shines, I could sit out there drinking for hours. Bring in your dog, and your own food too. Great. ...like I needed to find an amazing little local hole in the wall full of community and four legged rock stars. Why did the owners have to be all friendly and offer free sample tastings of the dozens of beers they have on tap. I like being an outcast. I'm a cat person for God's sake. Now I'm in love with the tight quarters and quirky non hipsters that hang out. And the outdoor seating? Seriously. ..did they order some perfect Seattle backdrop? I'm sure it's cold sometimes. Why couldn't it have rained? Is it seriously possible to meet friends in line while I'm told about all the amazing brewing facilities that all the incredible beers came from? What an incredible place! The quality and variety of beer selections are unmatched and that's only the starting point. Owners are nearly always on site and passionate about beer and the community they're building in this small / intimate space. Always a fun crowd of dogs for my own (blue heeler) to hang with. Good food trucks on Fridays. The small space sometimes means you hang with other folks for a few moments to place your order when it's super-busy (Friday nights), but the beers and interactions make any delay more than worth it, every time. It's the perfect "Hey let's go have a beer and catch up" place for the guys....owners are friendly, beers are delicious and reasonably priced. It almost feels like a "no rules" place...nobody seems real concerned about what's going on, minding their own business. Sitting outside having a brewskie with a friend...that's how it should be! I'd give it 3.5 if I could. I LOVE all the sweet dogs I get to meet when I'm there. I don't usually bring my dog since he gets a bit barky sometimes and I don't want him to cause a ruckus; but I like having the option to bring him, and I love meeting other dogs even when I'm there without mine. I like that they're willing to let you taste anything on tap - this has actually saved me from ordering something I really wouldn't have liked. As other reviewers have mentioned, beers here can be a little on the pricey side. I don't mind as much if it's something I really like, but I'd hate to order an expensive beer and not like it. They always have a least a few beers in the price range I'm willing to pay, so I don't feel like this place is too expensive for me overall even though some of the beers are on the expensive side. But I also don't know/care enough about beer to get really worked up about the selection or cost. As long as I can get something that's not too hoppy or expensive, I'm happy. I'm not sure if the $2 corkage fee is a legal requirement or just how they make money off the beers/ciders in the cooler. I don't love nearly doubling the cost of a can of beer just so I can drink it there, but I do understand that they have a business to run and they need to make their money somehow. The space itself isn't amazing. It's not dirty or gross by any means, it's just kind of run down feeling. The outdoor area is a tented section of the parking lot and they haven't done anything to level the ground, so prepare to feel like you're a little drunk just from sitting at a sloping table. There was only one heater going last time I was there at night so it was kind of chilly. They do have a big cooler of water out there so you can serve some for yourself or your dog, which is nice. And even when it's been a sunny, busy day I've always been able to find a seat. There's also a small loft inside the building so you don't have to sit outside if you don't want to. I saw some mixed reviews about the service. My personal experience has been fairly neutral - nothing either stellar or awful. The people behind the counter are definitely beer people, so maybe you have to be a passionate beer lover to really click with them. As I said before, I am not a beer person, so I do think the service I've received wasn't quite as friendly or engaged as I've seen some of the regulars getting. But they've never been rude to me, and since I only really interact with them for a minute as I'm getting my beer I don't feel like I need a higher level of service than I've received. Overall, I still prefer Decibel Brewing in north Bothell as a relaxed spot to hang out with friends or dogs. But Hop & Hound is a solid alternative when I don't feel like driving to Decibel, when I want a greater selection, or when I want to sit outside. I think if you're a serious beer person you'd likely have a good time here, but I also recommend it for a casual beer/cider drinker like myself who just wants to chill with a drink and maybe some dogs. read more
