We first visited Kro Bar about six months ago, and since then we've been back nearly two dozen times! The menu changes seasonally, and they host special events once or twice a month with unique fixed food and drink pairings-so there's always something new to try (and the events are a blast). A huge part of what keeps us coming back is the staff. The servers are friendly and attentive (and a lot of fun to chat with if it gets slow). And if you sit at the bar (highly recommend!), Cameron and Michael take it to another level. They're both talented, passionate and a lot of fun. They're always happy to make something off-menu or surprise us with bartender's choice. They've definitely turned us into cocktail snobs lol. And the food absolutely holds its own. We originally came for the cocktails on another bartender's recommendation, but we were blown away by how good everything has been. The ribeye is easily as good (or better than) steaks I've paid twice as much for elsewhere. The burger and fries are among the best around-and these days, one of the best deals anywhere if you go during happy hour. Similar can be said for everything else on the menu; we've had every appetizer, entree and side dish at least twice :P And since we're usually posted up at the bar, when there's a lull we sometimes get to chat w/ the kitchen, and it's clear they take real pride in what they do. A very small joint, but got some great flavors when it comes to the food and drinks. I ordered the Steak and Frites since that looked the most appetizing and filling next to the porkchop. The burger also sounded really good too. But after hearing my friends talk about the burger, I think I made the better choice still since the peppercorn sauce that came with it were really good. Also, the frites were really solid too with the seasoning and shape. Not to say the burger wasn't bad though, it was still good, but in comparison, it did not match the steak and the peppercorn sauce. I definitely want to go back to try out the porkchop and the burger. So I have a couple more trips to Kro Bar that I need to make it seems. The service was fairly good. the wait staff was good at tending to our table and there were no issues that I could point out. Bang up job! As I stated in the beginning, place is pretty small and definitely feels more like a French bar like Bastille that used to be in Ballard. Same vibe if you know. I came in to celebrate my friends engagement and of course I had to have my drink the Aqua Ardens Vol. 16, ugh its so so good I cannot recommend it enough. I also had the What We Found in the Jungle... and... YES! For food I had the Steak Frites and I'm so sorry to say that it just wasn't good, for the price point and just how well they do everything else, I expected better, the cut just didn't do it for me and they use different fries for this and it wasn't nearly as good as their happy hour fries, add to the fact that the sauce was miniscule. Guys if you can't slather your Frites then we have a problem. I will say though there was so many new items on there that I would love to try, so one dish is not going to stop me from coming and again our servers were awesome. Hidden little gem in downtown Bothell! It gives spooky but sexy vibes so perfect for a date night. Only ordered their happy hour fries with the curry seasoning and it was pretty good. The fries are similar to McDonald's and crispy! For $6 it was super tasty and filling. Our server was very attentive and communicative. Every drink was fabulous, and the ambience was just as great. The light bites were also excellent; we tried the Kennebec Shoestring Fries and the Pike Place Nut Trio. Visited here on a Friday night, it's a smaller space and highly recommended reservations, or it may be up to a 2hr wait for walk-in. This is a great restaurant with a dark, macabre vibe. They have a very creative cocktail menu, I had the Silent Cry which was very tasty. The Burrata appetizer was unique and yummy balance of flavors, and the Desert Rose Brussels Sprouts were superb! Went to get some drinks and apps, and was very pleased! It's a small, almost, hole in the wall place, with dark lighting and warm lights. Our server was very nice and was very helpful in explaining everything! She helped me pick out a drink which came in this super cool glass and was delicious. We also got the Burrata and the Winter Bread service as our appetizers. They were both very yummy, the burrata I could've licked the plate clean. I do wish the sizes were a bit larger, or we could've gotten more bread/crostini so there was enough for the amount of spreads. Again, we come a year later for a little date night thinking it's been a few months. I learned that for me personally, coming here for drinks only is not worth it. I love their food more than anything. However, dessert not included. This was the third attempt to try their dessert and im done...no more. Despite the beautiful presentation and great ingredients and individually things tasting good, the dessert lacks cohesion. Things just don't go well together and do not compliment each other. The citrus tart with Italian Swiss meringue served with ginger ice cream: The tart shell was a bit too tough but tasty, the curd was tart and delicious but too liquid, the Swiss meringue is delicious and I guess went well with the tartness of the curd. And then there's the ginger ice cream... I don't get it. To be fair I don't think I like ginger flavored ice cream on its own. But I thought maybe it compliments the tart and tried a spoon together. IT DOESN'T! At least not for me. Anyway! Drinks are probably awesome for alcohol lovers. The presentation is superb! The bartender captivates his audience for sure. But I hate the taste of everything I tried here. My husband also did not like his turtle demon. I tried the aqua ardens, which I ordered purely for the bubble effect. Bartender tried to make it sweet for me but I should have replaced Hennessy with vodka. Again, that's a "me" problem... Fun place! Great atmosphere and service. Kro Bar is a great addition to Bothell! It's a small, intimate and eclectic place that has some of the best cocktails in the area as well as great food. The space is small and narrow, so it's for parties of 4 or fewer. The cocktail menu is divided into a classics section as well as their own. I would definitely go for their take on a Manhattan or Old Fashioned. They can also make any cocktail to order, and i had a really solid Martinez. We started off with the coppa and a brie cheese like cheese which was well done. Our table ordered duck, salmon and pork, and each protein was done really well. Genuinely can't believe I've never been here before! This place is dark and moody with a fun crow aesthetic, representative of Bothell. I thought the interior was so fun and couldn't believe we have something so trendy and cool on the Eastside. I went on a Tuesday night and the place was poppin, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. My first drink came with a smoke bubble on top, which I loved! The drinks are so creative and you can tell that the bartender is an expert at pairing flavors and making unique drinks. What a hidden gem in Bothell! Came here for drinks and bites with some girlfriends and we had a great time. From the outside it's a bit hidden/incognito but once you get in it has a very unique vibe. Our server was fantastic and had great recommendations and was so friendly. We ordered a round of cocktails to start and oysters to share. The oysters come with their own sauce ( a cucumber mignonette), but she also brought us a hot sauce dropper and a spritzer bottle of peaty scotch spray which was super interesting to accompany the oysters. My first cocktail came with a big smoke bubble that she made table side. Everyone loved their cocktails, with the exception of the Fortune and Glory which my friend found to be a bit syrupy. A tiny little spot in Bothell that gives you a combination of speakeasy and New York cocktail bar. It is very small and most often requires a reservation to get in. Going inside feels like walking into an old library or theatre, staff handing receipts to you in old editions of books and a black and white film playing on the back wall above the bar. They have an extensive cocktail menu, a dramatic way of plating the food and presenting the drinks. The menu is very brief and offers a few appetizers, three entrees, two desserts, and a specialty menu. Prices are above average. For me the food was exceptional and had a great depth of flavor and rustic notes with sweet and savory combinations. The only thing that was a miss for me was the cook on the beans and duck. The other thing is the service can be quite slow here. So be prepared to have a longer dining experience. read more

Love the decor, the ambiance & best of all the food. I got the buratta which was very different from other buratta I've had before but still exceptional. My cocktail was really good too. And at the point they finally brought out my Gnochi I thought they had forgotten it. I was pretty much full at that point anyway so I took most of it home. Parking is hard to get in this neighborhood so you'll probably have to park a few blocks away. The bar itself is pretty small so youll want to make a reservation even if you're just coming for drinks. And make sure to check out the mouthwash dispenser in the washroom (or just check out the video I posted), it's super cute! read more

First off, it took 20 minutes to get our drinks served. Then it took 50 minutes to get our food (a bruschetta rigatoni) which arrived cold for three out of four of us, so we had to send it back. The fourth member of our group waited even longer for a simple burger. The rigatoni was average, and a happy hour outing turned out to be two hours of average food and slow service. The waitress deducted the three rigatoni's from our bill, but we will never go back. For real food to table and better service, go to Deru in Kirkland. read more

The cheese bites were nice in texture and flavor (soft and moist with slightly crunchy exterior), but the butter was the star of the show. Hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. This is now my favorite restaurant and it's not even close. My wife and I enjoyed it so much we decided to go back the following week. The restaurant is small and cozy, there aren't many tables so do make a reservation. The first time we sat at a table as a walk in. Tonight we sat at the bar. Both were great but if you love cocktails try to sit at the bar. The cocktail program is best in class. Every cocktail was so well made and such a variety of options. Even better, the bartender will help you decide making your whatever you want. Sitting at the bar was a great experience and i highly recommend it. The food is unbelievable! Last week my wife had the gnocchi and I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes. The gnocchi were amazing and my pork chop was sooooo freaking good. It's the best pork chop I've ever had! I can still taste it a week later. Tonight I had the chorizo cavatelli and my wife had the duck. The pasta was good but over shadowed by the meat. I am currently enjoying a delicious pork chop entree with a side of mashed potatoes and a small plate of gem lettuce from Kro Bar for my late dinner tonight. I called in a to-go order earlier tonight. This food is outstanding. The pork chop is huge, and it has a nice crispy, salty outside with some lean parts and some fatty parts on the inside. I'm not a huge fan of the fatty parts, but my portion is more than enough without eating those. I can taste the honey in the pork chop, but I cannot really taste the garlic (the pork chop is honey-garlic glazed), but then again I like to eat enough garlic with my meals for about 7 people. Ha. The gem lettuce is very crisp and fresh. The dressing that came with it is an excellent compliment to it flavor-wise. Service was friendly. The ambience at Kro Bar is awesome and unique, but I got there far too late tonight for me to stay there and eat in. I've been spending most of today (and much of last week as well) cleaning and organizing my garage, and this delicious late dinner from Kro Bar tonight is a wonderful reward for all of my hard work. My partner and I are playing a quick game of Trivial Pursuit while I am eating this dinner. I'm terrible at Trivia so he is feeling good about himself. Ha. He already ate dinner earlier tonight, so he didn't want anything from Kro Bar. I got some amazing fingerling potatoes from Kro Bar a year or two ago on a different take out order. I didn't write a review back then, but I still remember how tasty those potatoes were. The side of mashed potatoes that I am eating with my dinner tonight are very good, but those fingerling potatoes from Kro Bar were amazing! I also got scallops back then as well, which were good too. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a while so we stopped by for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but the host gave us the option to sit at the bar or at one of the tiny tables in the center of the room. We chose the table. We waited 15 minutes for our server to greet us. He was friendly and told us about their fresh sheet and then walked away. Came back another 15 minutes later and took our drink order but walked away before we could order food. He brought our drinks and took our food order. We ordered the focaccia bread, the summer salad, chicken karaage, and the risotto Pomona. The focaccia bread came out 30 minutes later and it was dry and crunchy. Then the salad came out and was ok. The chicken had too much breading on it and barely any chicken inside and the risotto was not edible. They used the wrong rice for their risotto and it was crunchy and undercooked when you chewed it. That ambiance is fun, service was very slow, and the food was nothing special and took for ever. As far as the service, it almost seemed like since we didnt have a reservation they didn't want to be bothered with serving us. The server taking our order and the food actually coming out took so long that we were there for almost 2 hours. We love trying new places but this place was definitely a let down. A hidden gem in Bothell. An elevated small bar that has a solid drink and food program. You can make a reservation but chances are you can just sit at the bar which is what I did. They have an impressive assortment of spirits for a smaller bar and offer great service and are very friendly. They even let me order a dish I wanted from the happy hour menu even though it was after happy hour. I got one of the menu cocktails and then an off menu one and both were good. To eat, I had broccolini and a short rib brioche dish (happy hour item) which were both good. Pricing is very fair and if I lived here this would be a go to regular spot for me. Tender beef/pork, you get 3 golf ball sized meatballs. Delicious and hot out of the oven. - Caponata toast- flavorful crostini with eggplant deliciousness and an anchovy like garnish on top. Different from what you find in the area, which speaks my language and the anchovy type fish on top was the perfect pairing to add flair and flavor. -The daiquiri and margarita on the hh list were top notch. This is not your basic cocktail. Truly a gift here. -White cheddar Gougeres - kind of like a mini-muffin. Points for being different, more bread-like than I wanted. Tasty but would skip next time. The seasonal butter it's served with is bomb! - nuts and bolts - good for a bitesized crunchy snack. No fancy seasoning. Perfect bc we ordered to take home to snack on the next day!
