They together discussed that my labor charge was excessive and together decided to cut my labor allowance in HALF. I provided the layout, design, truck, tools, demolition, all supplies (the money was stuck in probate, so I bank rolled the project, got rid of debris (condo association would not let us use there dumpsters, removed wallpaper, scrubbed glue off walls, patched holes and painted the entire condo 2 coats of base paint. I initially got MANY estimates to rehab the place, however the quotes were sky high. This is when we decided to diy. I also provided my coworker. Mr Tobin you may be a lawyer, however you are not a cost estimater. Keep your big mouth out of are family. You have caused great strife in my family over this matter. You have no idea how many hours I put into this job, but I am going to give you that number. Two employees from my corporation for 10 days equals 200 hours. Also another 100 hours of off-site consulting. You suggested to cut my labor to $3500. My money for materials and the discounted labor still have not been paid.

It involved some partial rollovers into qualified plan from IRA preceding the conversion. I had done a bit of research but wanted an expert to validate the specifics of my situation. While other attorneys I've met with in the past on other topics have a free consultation to validate they are in a position to help; Eric charges $250 for the initial conversation which is an in person meeting. He doesn't offer a first 5-10 minute phone discussion to ensure he is a fit or the need. After about a week, he called to say what I was specifically trying to do wouldn't work. I requested him to send any specific reference to the law section; IRS publication; or articles as his evaluation was contrary to what I was finding myself. He said he would send me something, but never got back to me. There was some additional up and back with questions as I sent him some IRS material after he never got back to me per above. Eric is not responsive, going weeks without a reply. He emailed me on Nov 9th apologizing that he'd been on a big project, and would reply soon. It is now Dec 2nd and still not heard. My perception is that my question was not in Eric's wheelhouse, familiarity with current rulings regarding rollovers to qualified plans from an IRA of earnings, leaving the basis behind in an IRA. In the end I felt like I wasted time and $250 without clarity. To his credit, at least he never asked for more than the initial consultation fee. But regardless I still feel as though I don't have a solid answer and would he would have been better for him to simply decline to engage on the topic during the initial meeting if this wasn't the type of thing he could get to resolve quickly or he didn't have bandwidth.

Bottom line, he knows his stuff, he's competent, and it's apparent to me that folks in the court system (Judges, Bailiffs, State prosecutors, other attorneys, even police officers) in Montgomery County know him and respect him and his opinions. Mr. Leibowitz represented me in a legal malpractice claim (handling of my custody and divorce case…read moreas well as the amounts billed) against two family law practitioners at a large firm. Prior to being referred to Mr. Leibowitz, one legal malpractice attorney I contacted answered almost every question I had with an esoteric question - sometimes days later, and stated that thousands of dollars of professional "assessment fees" would be incurred in addition to his legal fees. Another legal malpractice attorney I contacted and had exchanged emails with sent me a retainer agreement that went far above and beyond the scope of what was discussed in our email exchanges, and even contradicted statements in our email, and the retainer alone was more than I wished to spend. When I inquired about this and referenced the emails, he stated he didn't get into any retainer agreement discussions, and since I had questions about what he sent, he would not represent me. Thus, I wasn't feeling very hopeful when I was referred to Mr. Leibowitz. I was very pleasantly surprised! Mr. Leibowitz immediately understood the legal issues and what was needed, as well as the best way to logistically handle the matter. In addition, he was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about resolving my situation fairly, expeditiously, and efficiently. He could not have delivered more! He stuck to and was even slightly under budget! He had a letter to the opposing party drafted in less time than other attorneys return phone calls, and the entire matter was resolved in approximately 3 weeks, in which Mr. Leibowitz settled the matter for $16,000 off my legal bill. He handled the negotiation as a tough advocate for me, kept me informed every step of the way, timely consulted with me, and patiently and thoroughly explained things.
