Service Requested: was not fulfilled; Quality: was not exhibited from the attorney I met with; and Value: the fee was a rip off and misleading. Matt Hertz spoke with me over the phone; he told he could not obtain the WILL I wanted reviewed. The fact is he could obtain a copy of the WILL, which was presented by Leslie during the meeting, she already had determined the WILL was not contestable, yet Matt had said to me that "he would always be upfront and honest". Therefore, since his coworker (Leslie, even though I took time to make copies for Matt) obtained the WILL and predetermined it was not contestable, that is a finding Matt or she could have communicated to me over the phone instead. He arranged for me to come into his office just so that he could charge me a $500.00 fee. I realized the next day; I had been scammed. This firm purported that they are experienced in WILLS filed in Maryland. They could not answer two (2) simple Maryland WILL Inheritance law questions. But I could and when I gave the answer to Leslie she replied' "really". I said yes. Therefore, I feel now that I have the right to ask Matt for a refund of the $500.00 I paid. When I asked for a refund, His response to me was "I am sorry I cannot assuage your concerns and I wish you well". I would not recommend this law firm based on my unfortunate experience with both Matt and Leslie. When I reached out to Leslie within hours of me leaving the firm's office, her out of office email response stated she was on vacation. What honest, caring, and ethical lawyer does not disclose that to a potential client who was told she would get the answers for me, which I anticipated would be within the same day. There are many facts to this unfortunate experience, but I have highlighted the worse of the dishonesty and unethical behaviors, "the scam" I was put through by this firm. This experience occurs 6/28/24. My last contact with Matt was 7/7/24. To date I have not heard from this firm regarding my refund. DO NO USE this firm. You will be sorry just as I am. I trusted Matt. I researched firm for my specific needs, and I trusted him based on him saying "he would be honest and UPFRONT". Leslie Peters is a Super Star! She was hired by our 27 year old daughter seeking full legal custody of our 2 year old grandson. She's not married to the birthfather and they have a very hostile relationship. I wish there were more stars because 5 doesn't seem enough. I met Matt at the lowest point in my marriage. What started as a conversation and precursor of a consult turned into 2 years of getting me out of the marriage, and I've never been happier. I do not think of Matt & Leslie as just lawyers. They were and still are, my partners. Every part of the process was explained to me, and I was given the choice on what to do and the variable pros and cons of those decisions. We strategized together. Matt is realistic. He doesn't over promise or sugar coat things. He helps you prioritize what you want to fight for but encourages collaboration with the 'other side' to come to an agreement reserves leaning in to strike to when it's absolutely necessary. Matt is responsive and communicative. He answers questions and concerns quickly, and manages expectations throughout that time (i.e. if he's going into Court and won't have an answer immediately). He & Leslie are on top of getting things done quickly and smoothly. I would get reminders on paperwork to review, things to send and court dates to prep for. I distinctly remember Matt's integrity and ethics as a standout. The other lawyer involved in our case tried to negotiate for more money that was in violation of the nature of their contract with my former spouse. It was Matt that recognized this. It was Matt that held them accountable. In the end, Matt was able to get me all the things I wanted out of the process and continues to help with advice.
