We were lucky enough to come when a FIFA game was on. There was plenty of seating on a Monday night and we got a great view of the game on the tv. There were a few groups sitting in the back and in the backyard patio. The back area offers various beer-brewing books and board games for your entertainment. They offer their own in-house brewed beers and seltzers. I usually drink seltzers to be "healthier" but usually don't like how tart or bubbly most places make them. I tried a special walnut seltzer here that was just a one-off experiment the brewer made. It was AMAZING. I went back for seconds and would love to take a growler home. I think my husband enjoyed his beers too, but he drinks IPAs and that's not my jam. The two guys working that day were very friendly. One of them was the brewer (head brewer?) and we learned a lot about the place's history and what they do. This brewery has been here for years and I didn't know. I thought they were newly opened, similar to Radnor's next door, but they actually rebranded last year or so, so it made it seem like they were a new business. The guys explained that they used to be called something else that made people think they were a place to buy beer brewing equipment and classes rather than a place to drink beer, so they changed their name and it really helped bring more people in. They still offer brewing classes at a great price. It sounds like such a cool experience for the solo beer enthusiast or for a team building event. They also host open mic nights and other community events. I had such a good time here that I would love to come back and continue to try out more of their beers, learn about the beer brewing process, and take in the fun and casual environment.

I might have waited to visit when they had more than one beer I was interested in. It was a bit of a drive for me to get there. This is actual brewery so they sell their beer can packs to go, as well as some Merch (apparels etc). Newest second location (Narrows Tasting Room) recently opened on Proctor district as well. If I were to get crazy picky, tasting of 1.0oz beer is still going to cost you a dollar. There's no "taking a sip" to see if you wanna commit to ordering a full pint, so just keep that in mind. My favorite here is Narrows Lager and Summer Lager is great too, and if you're an IPA drinker, Tempest IPA is a good option. They also do not prep food here so they got a Chex Mix + Pub Mix snack for $4.00 for about a small bowl, and some charcuterie boards. You can order some food downstairs/next door from Boathouse19 and or bring a small snack bag to nibble on. Parking is ample but can get filled very quickly, especially during Summer time when lots of wedding and other events are happening at the Narrows Marina warehouse, and I also see some food trucks parked by exclusively for those events from time to time. Lastly, they have non-alcoholic beers too! It's not their own, but I've seen them pour "Bero" canned non-alcoholic beer, so you do not need to be a beer drinker to enjoy the space here, but this place is 21+ only, which is another reason I love it here. Oh and last but not least, they have several rooms for event rentals, so I've seen many retirement, birthday parties and other events hosted in those rooms. Pretty cool! The room next to the bar area can be a bit noisy because of the exhaust fan running that is connected to the brewery room. All in all, a great brewery tucked in on the Narrows Marina that's worth a visit if you're in the area, and you might find me here too, just hanging out on a Summer evening : )

You'll feel like you're at a big rowdy backyard cookout (don't you DARE call it a BBQ unless yer smokin' meats) that you just stumbled into. The man running the taps, who I can only assume is the owner, is boisterous, friendly, and ON TOP OF THINGS. He'll ask you what you normally drink, give you some samples, and hook you up with the right beer. I tried to give him a card and he just said "just let me know how many you've had before you leave, I trust you!". You really feel like you're at some sort of family get together. Oh, and the views of Rainier from the patio are stellar! Unlike almost all other breweries in the PacNW, this one is not stocked chock full of insufferable, apathetic, hipster and post-hipster types. The crowd here is largely blue collar: truckers and farmers, Carhart and coveralls, construction workers and men-at-work signs. Which, again, is refreshing for a brewery. Beer is for everyone, not just beardos at coffeeshops with macbook pros that "work in tech". My only qualm is that I feel like the beer is just OK. It wasn't bad or anything, but it also didn't blow me away. Most of the beers were a little too much on the sweet and malty side (even the IPA) for what I usually like to drink. I believe the bar tender was also the owner or one of them? Very friendly and helpful with the selections. Taking time to answer questions, even on a surprisingly busy Thursday afternoon. Lots of seating throughout the inside and on the patio area. They specialize in unfiltered brews, which I like, as it gives a full flavor to most beers you may not get, if they're over filtered, another one of those balancing acts that those workers of brewing magic deal with. I started off with a Amber lager, full tasting with the crispness of a lager, a flavorful change from the usual amber ales. The place had a cool old dudes vibes due to all the memorabilia and the old van in the shop, but definitely wasn't just an old dudes place, as a few of the younger crowd was enjoying a brew while working remote. Plan on a return trip on a weekend to check out the weekend vibe, try the food truck, and more of their tasty unfiltered beers. This brewery is over by Lake Tapps but even though you can't get a view of the lake from where the tasting room is it's still a lot of fun. We went and ordered in a modular structure and then enjoyed our beer outside but with lots and sturdy canopies in case it rained. I had two beers here. One was the Thrasher IPA which had a nice bite to it but nothing too "off the chain". Dark Days was the other beer I had which was a fine brown ale that I ordered which proved to be enjoyable. This brewery is a little way out of Bonney Lake but the outing is worth it!

You will see beers that have familiar names from the Gig Harbor Brewing days like Dead Man's Island IPA for example but a lot of them are also brand new and offer something new from the predecessor. The Dock Street location is pretty great and a significant improvement over the previous Tacoma location as it is right off of Thea Foss Waterway, the marina there and the walkway. There is a drawback here if you are the type of person that isn't a fan of paid parking and more than likely that is what you will need to is is pay to park which you didn't have to at the previous location unless you want a long walk ahead of you which isn't necessarily a bad thing. One good thing with doing paid parking here in Tacoma is that the rates are fairly inexpensive and you can get quite a bit of meter time for a small cost. I had no issues with service like another Yelper experienced and was served in a prompt manner the two times I have been to the Dock Street location. The beers are fairly tasty and refreshing and it's a nice place to chill. If it's nice outside they have a nice space for outdoor seating and the inside isn't bad either. Between the two seating spaces one could seat quite a few people here. But onto the beers and what I thought about them thus far. Dead Man's Island is an IPA that I really enjoyed and rated quite high on Untappd. This very appealing IPA has a tropical flavor to it and is smooth in body and is Light Bodied. Harry Henderson was another one of the beers I have had recently and I liked this one fairly well. With this Brown Ale the flavor highlights in this beer are maltiness, nuttiness, bitterness and a clean finish. 4 Forest was another beer that I really liked and also rated highly on Untappd. This is a Wheat Beer which I do enjoy getting due to the biscuity or breadiness that these beers have going on. No exception to here with this beer. It's light bodied and perfect for enjoying on a warm summer day. Grand Glacier was another beer we got to try. This one is a Porter and it was good one. The roastiness as well as presence of chocolate and some coffee is all right there and we enjoyed this one considerably. After that moved into IPA territory again in which I got the Imperial IPA on two occasions... the Hop Valley IPA. This IPA also has a tropical personality as well as piney and hoppiness going on. It's a nice, smooth beer for sure. We feel like we did a well rounded experience with the beer types the brewery offers and have been quite pleased. I often walk a ways after work and a frequent destination walk is the Thea Foss area when the weather is at least somewhat cooperative so if time allows I can see myself slipping in here during my outing for a beer. I have already indulged on this temptation once and I am sure more of these after work visits will pop up again from time to time.

They allow outside food and there are a handful of options in walking distance that will do that for you. The beertender was friendly and efficient. Not a bad choice if you're in the area!
