I don't even know where to begin, came in Saturday 11-4-2 looking for a new spot. It started off good went with some my buddies and we got a few drinks, turns out the bartenders are faded as well. A chill spot in Bakersfield, I have passed this place dozens of times while out in Bakersfield for work but never stopped in til now. When I walked in there were several people at the bar chatting and hanging out. Inside was pretty unremarkable. Lots of open space and some tables as well as seats all along the bar. The second I walked into the bar I was in awe. It immediately looked like what I always picture a bar to look like. Currently for lunch they offer food by Culinary Creations. I had the Hamburger and Sweet Potato fries. I usually don't eat hamburgers unless they're home made on a grill. I'm in LOVE with the hamburger. It was amazing. I can't wait til I go back again, I would really love to try something new on the menu but I don't know if I can NOT get the hamburger it was too good! Let me say that I was very impressed with McMurphys. I drive by all the time but can't stop for a bite to eat since I'm always with the kiddos!. Today I got my chance!!! The menu had a bunch of game time foods since Sunday football is on with the exception of the McMurphys burger. It was a fresh hand made angus burger with lettuce, tomato, carmelized nions, bacon, and a jalepeno guacamole on a ciabatta type bun. I'm not sure if there was cheese but the thing was very juicy and didn't need the extra ooomph that cheese gives a burger. The burger was cooked well and I am pleased I took the bartenders recommendation. I also had a side of sweet potato fries which were the best I have ever had. They had what looked like parsley and lime seasoning which made them very good. Cooked crispy just the way I like them. I finished the meal off with a cold glass of beer which went well with the burger and fries. The service was good. The bartender didn't let me run dry and the other staff was very friendly. I would really call this pub food since it's mile beyond that. Anyone who likes burger should definitely give McMurphys a try. I will be back soon to review more of the menu!!!! read more

A beautifully little Irish bar with red brick walls and a kitchen in the back. I stopped in for lunch this week and ordered the Thanksgiving Sandwich $10 and opted to swap the salad that came with it for sweet potato fries for an additional $3. The food was very good, made with quality ingredients and a skillful hand. It's clear they have a talented cook and that food was not an after thought for this bar. Sandwich, fries, and a coke came to $16.09. Unfortunately for me, this is a bit much for a lunch time sandwich. Although, If you were out drinking and were hungry (who cares about money at this point), this would be a nice place to end up. read more

Stopped in here today for a quick lunch...was I ever surprised by the food...I ordered the special..Shepherd's Pie...kudos to the chef for a beautiful prep and presentation. The meat filling was perfectly seasoned, vegetables were al dente, mashed potatoes were covered in a delicious cheese and browned to perfection. This was served with a nice garden salad and corn bread. Makes me wish I still lived here so I could visit more often...I will definitely be back for lunch when I visit again. read more

Well I've been coming here for lunches for the last couple of months, and the quality and cosistancy of the food has been getting better and better. They run a daily special, and the quality of the fresh products the chef uses shows up on the plate and on the palate. Came here on a Saturday night. The drinks were good, not too overpriced. The bartender was nice and informative. Later in the night, they had a dj. The music was a great mix of country and random 90s hits. I love that their pool table is coin operated and only costs a buck per game! Did not get a chance to taste any of the food, or check out the outdoor area. Interesting mix of people were there. I wish they would stick to the irish theme a little more? Maybe have a drink menu with some clever twists of classic irish drinks? Maybe have more irish decor? Ditch the cheesy leprechauns, please!! Odd location, it's kind of under an overpass, but not quite. The place has been around for ages and the everything is pretty consistent. Good selection of beers on tap and apparently great food (I have yet to try). This place is insanely crowded on St. Patrick's Day (as most Irish pubs are), but try them out any other night. I've come here a handful of times and each time I've left unimpressed. Im a bartender so I 100% understand how things work in a restaurant/bar setting. BUT waiting over 10 mins each time i order a drink and am purposely ignored is ridiculous. When you have guests waiting obviously trying to get the bartenders attention yet the bartender looks at you then scans the crowd and picks someone else to serve. I literally sat there trying to get the bartenders attention just to have her walk over to someone who stepped in front of me(maybe her boyfriend? Not sure) and her poor a free shot for herself and the guy then look at me and walk away AGAIN. It's always the same older female sale haired bartender who serves my friends and i when we go in. We all work the service industry and tip well per drinks but tonight i was fed up. Were here to have fun and spend our money yet the bartenders only care about drinking on the job and paying attention to their friends/significant others. The fun dancing vibe and reasonable prices at this bar will not be enough to keep my group of friends and I coming back when there's other bars who actually care about the guests having a good time. If you rub a bar you'd think you'd want people to drink not ignore them and drink all the alcohol yourself? Very disappointed. read more
