Dr. Patterson and his staff are the best! Amazing care and a brand new office with excellent physical therapy!

This office requires you to keep a credit card on file so they can charge you for missed appointments. Requires it. To make an appointment. With rampant identity theft and credit card fraud, no one should leave credit card information anywhere, much less a doctor's office. We've had random charges appear when we've allowed this in another doctor's office. I think Dr. Patterson is great. But the three people in my family who would go to him will no longer. read more

The doctor was attentive, he listened, he had answers, he gave recommendations... I left equipped with solutions and clear next steps. I was able to get the X-Rays I needed. Wait time was minimal. I rarely write reviews but I feel so grateful for Dr. Patterson that I felt compelled to share. I have been going to Dr. Patterson for over 10 years now. I used to be an avid, high level tennis player (4.5 USTA rated) and had chronic episodes of tennis elbow as well as golfer's elbow. I was referred to him by a very high level tennis player friend of mine so I trusted his experience. I went to Dr. Patterson because I wanted to avoid steroids for my tennis elbow and had heard of a procedure called PRP (platelet rich plasma) which is a natural therapeutic for tendinitis. My results were exactly what I had hoped for and without use of steroids. I'm not only impressed with his knowledge and bedside manner, but also for his integrity......with subsequent injuries I had, Dr. Patterson had actually turned me away because he felt I could heal on my own and didn't need PRP. I also love that he does not exploit patients financially. Other doctors on the westside charge 3 x the amount Dr. Patterson charges. He takes his time to explains things and answers all my questions - he doesn't ever seem like he is in a rush even though he is super busy and popular. I also love that he is an athlete himself and an avid racket sportsman. His staff is super efficient too! I HIGHLY recommend him, and I am a patient of both Cedars and Providence, so I have seen "the best" but he is one of the best of the best doctors! read more

I have been a patient with this office for many years. I have always gone to the Tarzana office. My most recent visit was to the Agoura office, which has been the worst experience. They are unresponsive, do not keep up to date medical records, do not return phone calls and treat their patients like trash. My insurance company stayed on hold for 45 minutes trying to set up a peer to peer appointment. We left voice messages, sent emails..Not only did they not call back, respond to emails, when I eventually got hold of them. they said they were too busy to do the peer to peer today. My appointment is tomorrow. They don't care!!! read more

Ryan was phenomenal working with my son on his collarbone. I can't recommend him highly enough. And I appreciated the way they set expectations for care and costs. I would really recommend this office, and I am glad that we were referred here. My only complaint was the way the office handled my son's preferred name as opposed to the name on the insurance. No matter how many times I asked, they used the wrong name when calling him in and doing the intake. That was really really frustrating, and caused unnecessary anxiety. My 7 year old son badly broke his arm and Dr. Patterson got the alert while on his way to a performance with his family. I went to see Dr Patterson because of bilateral knee pain. X-rays were done. He performed a hands-on assessment and located the problem areas on each knee. He evaluated past history of knee injuries and pain. I was very impressed with his examination of my knees, diagnosis, and plan of treatment. Dr Patterson patiently explained everything to me and included my future wishes in the plan of treatment. I received knee injections via image guidance. This was an excellent technique because it is precise. I am very happy and positive about my ortho experience. The staff was polite, respectful, and skilled. Dr Patterson was kind, courteous, and extremely experienced. I recommend Dr Patterson to everyone with orthopedic problems. read more

Dr. Patterson breaks the mold of the stereotypical white coated stethoscope around your neck country M.D. or put in modern terms - A Doc Hollywood. He is a dapper, blue jean wearing "Real Deal" physician who practices an intelligent form of medicine. By intelligent, I mean, he speaks with an authority you believe and with logical and astute diagnosis's that make sense. I really like him, but way more importantly, I trust him! What else could you ask for when dealing with your health. Also, his office runs like a well oiled machine. Each department whether it's scheduling, x-ray, treatment, billing, or follow-up, they all work in unison. That's part of the "trust" thing I mentioned above. He was lovely, but it took me 90 minutes to be seen. I was 20 minutes early. I waited 90 minutes from my appointment time, so basically I was in his office for two hours. There was no apology for the lateness and they didn't even offer to cover the valet (they don't validate). Because he was running so late, he spent 10 minutes with me at the most and I still had questions but felt he was rushing to get to his next appointment (although he did take time to listen to a few of my questions...he was heading out the door before I realized our appointment was over). I literally spent more time with the intake nurse than with the doctor. I understand that the state of the country our healthcare is poor, but I was stunned that I had to wait so long and with no apology or explanation as to why. A little ridiculous. read more

I cannot get to Agoura to see Dr. and am now under the care of this young man who is patient and listens and responds in language I can understand. He is a valuable asset to this practice. This office is the best! I went to this doctor for my kid when he had a nursemaid's elbow, when he was located in the same building as our pediatrician. Years later, found him again by accident and found out he treated adults. I've seen him and also his P.A., Ryan, and the whole joint is classy, knowledgeable and effective. 3 injuries later, this is the only orthopedist I go to. I have nothing negative to say about this office. The staff is amazing. Park across the street on the meters or at the end of the block, since the parking lot's not the best - but if that's the worst thing I can say, you know it means this is a great office! read more

Dr. Byron Patterson is the most kind, caring, thorough, patient, knowledgeable and brilliant orthopedic sports medicine doctor that you can ever wish to go to! I have known him for 20 years and he has helped me and my family countless times all with great success. 2 years ago I went to him for a second opinion with a broken wrist. My HMO doctor told me I needed surgery. Dr Patterson told me my wrist was intact and I didn't need surgery and he just put on a cast. My wrist is fully healed without surgery! I had chronic Achilles tendinitis and had been going for physical therapy for nearly a year. Dr Patterson did PRP on my ankle and I am completely healed! 2 weeks ago I saw Dr Patterson with a toe injury for another 2nd opinion. I dropped a very sharp chefs knife on my big toe. Even though I didn't have an appointment he spent on and off about an hour with me! After an ultrasound he then called in his surgeon and they did another ultrasound of my toe. I trust his opinion implicitly and am now going to have surgery on my toe. In my opinion he is the top orthopedic doctor of the century and I can't recommend him enough! Absolutely amazing doctors and staff. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is that we always have to wait about an hour to be seen.

I visited Dr Patterson after a fall during a trip to the UK on business and he spent all of 3 minutes with me and said, "let's get you some physical therapy". I was given a list of physical therapy places and told to "pick one". I did so but noted to the DR's office that as I travel a great deal i could not be consistent. The physical therapy actually made my right hand (which is still swollen after 4 months+) and my left shoulder, worse. I called Dr. Patterson's office and was told that I had to see one of his "Assistants" not, him. I did so and the person said, "gee we hate to see people getting worse, let's get an MRI of your shoulder". I did so and the assistant told me that it showed osteoarthritis and a minor tear in the rotator cuff. No help with the hand. My impression is that this is a mill to provide physical therapists with a job and no doubt Dr. Patterson's office gets a percentage. The care that I got was obviously of no use as I am currently worse than the first visit to Dr. Patterson. I am now seeing another Doctor who does, seem to care! Dr Patterson has so far billed Medicare $370.00, $125.00 and the physical therapist for 4 visits billed $510. The MRI was $1,180 so a tidy $2,000+ to get worse! I advise avoiding this place like the plague! read more

Very impress by the professionalism of the office, and how great is Doctor Patterson. My 10 year old is a soccer player and have been having a lot of pain in her knee for over a week, I couldn't find the right place to take her too, Then Our coach referred us to Dr Patterson and I am so thankful for that. Both ladies at the front office are awesome, Kim was so helpful and also fit my daughter in the schedule as it was a very busy day for them. Then Dr Patterson was very patient very explaining and did all the necessary tests to make sure that first my daughter was okay and then went over all the results and her condition in details. He is really really good with little ones and he made sure my daughter was comfortable and understand everything. He doesn't rush you like most of my previous experience at doctors office. After diagnosed, not only did the staff repeatedly fail to pass along messages to the doctor indicating that my pain had worsened, scheduled me with his assistant (who was incompetent) rather than the doctor, and gave me no choice but to show up unannounced to retrieve my test results (which resulted in my condition worsening to the point of requiring surgery - with another doctor), Dr. Patterson also disclosed my condition to his gossiping baby-mama WITHOUT MY PERMISSION who then CAME TO MY JOB to rub my CONFIDENTIAL condition in my face. If you can find anyone else, don't trust this doctor to provide compassionate care or keep privileged information to himself. read more

When a body part gives out and your hurting, what you want is relief. You also want someone who knows their stuff and can quickly diagnose, deliver treatment so you end up with pain free results. Just go to Primary Sports, See either Dr. Patterson or Dr. Scott, both doctors helped me find relief with a multitude of sports and other other injuries. Both have a unique and caring bedside manner that aids the healing process. Wonderful staff who you will end up loving. The goal is not to see these guys, but if stuff happens, there's no better place to get the get that healing feeling. read more

Dr. Patterson and his staff were wonderful to my daughter. Shortly before Thanksgiving, my daughter developed an MRSA infection in her knee. It was a painful experience for her but thankfully with Dr. Patterson's meticulous care she avoided a hospital stay. For two weeks, he saw her almost everyday and even came in on a Saturday to check her progress. His nurse, Elena, was very kind and considerate as well. Just moved to LA and started having issues with my shoulder, yet again. The pain has been somewhat chronic for a while. Although I've sought medical care from one other Orthopedic doctor, my experience, with Dr. Patterson, was truly unique and helped me restore my faith in this profession. First and foremost, his ability to articulate, in simple and easy to understand terms, was simply amazing. Second, the amount of time in which he took to answer every question, with patience and care, was again very refreshing and obviously much appreciated. Lastly, he also encouraged me to call him if I had thought of anything that I hadn't already ask of him. For the first time since injuring my shoulder I am on a recovery path that doesn't include surgery. And for that I am extremely grateful to Dr. Patterson, his staff as well as their PT department.
