Microwave, Mini Frig, T.V with Cable. Small coffee pot set up. A desk, table 2 chairs. Hangers and luggage rack. There is a great Pool which is a big perk. Unfortunately, this year was to cold to swim. We had swam last year and it was great! There is a Supermarket across the street and the beach not far at all. The motel provides an informative binder. The town center is actually within walking distance for most people about 1/4 to 1/2 miles away. Becareful though, the road in front of the property, at the traffic lights gets very busy. We witnessed a bad car accident while waiting to cross the street, the 1st year. A Continental Breakfast with delicious homemade muffins is served every morning. To be totally transparent and give a 100% honest review these next things were a few minor issues that only happened our last visit. The water pressure in the shower was very slow. No shower liner, (not the problem) the fabric curtian got soaking wet and wet the whole floor, causing a slipping hazzard. The soap and shampoo/conditioners weren't filled. We were supposed to be given a second key that was never dropped off. Had the T.V. shut off at about 10pm while we were watching, out of nowhere. I called the office to let the staff know and got a NOT my problem response, that I wasn't excepting. This year we had tried to book 2 days again, but only one was available. We decide to take the 1 night and pay more then we would have elsewhere. No sure about next year.

The grass is real and the bats are wood. The players are incredibly talented and driven as this is one place where MLB scouts swarm to find talent. This is legit, high quality baseball in an incredibly inviting and casual setting. Former players I've seen include Nomar Garciaparra, Marcus Stroman, Kolten Wong, and many others who have come through Orleans. Other former Cape Leaguers are Jason Varitek, Aaron Bleepin' Boone (Orleans), Frank Thomas (Orleans), Jonathan Papelbon, Chase Utley, Jackie Bradley, Jr., Andrew Benintendi, Mark Bellhorn, Bill Mueller, Kevin Millar, and a bunch of other dudes you would know. The players live with host families, and many work summer jobs in addition to playing ball. The team hosts youth baseball camps in the mornings, with the players and coaches instructing. Some players are available to private lessons (these are incredible). The home field is Eldredge Park on the middle school grounds at the corner of Rt. 28 and Eldredge Parkway. Home games are played in the evenings, with first pitch at 7 pm. Bring your own chairs or blankets, and set up in any open space. Get a free roster with up-to-date stats, and grab a team program that your kids can get autographed after the game. The kids can also run the bases, sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, play on the playground beyond the left field fence, track down some foul balls, and otherwise have good, clean fun. It's free, but take the opportunity to play the 50/50 raffle or donate when the hat is passed around. Say hi to George the Firebird when you see him. He'll be wearing a red bird costume and is really loud.

On the bay side of the cape, this beach has relatively calm and shallow waters, perfect for families or those who don't typically enjoy rough waves. High tide leaves a narrow but lengthy stretch of sand to stake out. Low tide reveals a massive sandbar, perfect for sand castles and lounging around. A bit rocky when you are first wading in but take the time and find the paths through the rocks that people create and you'll reach the rest of the sand in no time. Small parking lot for town permit holders. An overflow lot (where Massachusetts State Park pass holders can pull in as well) is available a couple minutes walk up the road. Port-a-potties are available in-lot during the summer months. Both days I visited, an ice cream truck made an appearance. Otherwise, the beach is basic without additional amenities. Not too crowded on the mid-summer weekdays that I visited. Great beach option for your Cape getaway. Next time I'm down, I'll definitely return.

Beautiful, clear torquise water, fine sand, and a cool breeze will make you forget about the…read morecrowded and expensive beaches in Cape Cod. This is a little slice of paradise and a hidden gem. The beach is perfect for families with little ones. The sand is soft and there is plenty of shade from trees. The rope off swimming area is perfect for toddlers to walk around in because you don't have to worry about waves. It only costs $8 to access the park. You can pay by credit card so no sweating bringing cash with you. There is plenty of parking in a parking lot that is next to the beach. Handy cap parking is also available right next to the beach entrance by the bathroom. A clean bathroom is also available in addition to a rental place to get paddle boards and kayaks. If you get tired of the water, you have access to plenty of trails. If you need snacks or lunch there is a general store not too far from the park entrance. We got a bit turned around trying to find the main beach and parking area. If you are looking on Google maps, it's on the Southeast side of the pond and you want to turn onto Flax Pond Road to get to it. My wife used to hate going to lakes and this pond has completely changed her mind. Now she can't stop talking about it!!

The home of a New Bedford whaling captain built in the mid 1800s, the Penniman House has been preserved as a National Historic site on the Cape Code National Seashore, and the house is just beautiful. We couldn't find info on hours or tours on the website, so we headed out to the Cape hoping that we'd get lucky, but apparently the house is only open T-Th from 1-4, with guided tours on Saturdays. Nevertheless, it was a fascinating visit. The grounds are tiny, though, so don't go expecting some vast tract of land and giant house a la Tory Row in Boston. This was very minimalist as far as European style was concerned, but for a house on the Cape, it's pretty amazing. All of the original details on the moldings are still intact, and peering through the windows, we saw that the old floors and wallpaper had been also preserved. There is also a beautiful carriage house. The most awesome thing about this house has to be the whale jawbone entry gate when you first walk up to it from the parking lot. It's a real sperm whale jawbone painted white and affixed to posts of wood to act as an archway. Minus one star for the weird hours plus scant information on the weird hours online. The Cape Code National Seashore site is confusing as it is; I really think they should maybe look at redesigning their site to make it more accessible. But I definitely recommend the Penniman House as a short stop if you're on Route 6 on your way up the Cape. It's a nice 15 minute break and a great photo op.
