I've been living here for 9 months, and my husband for over a year. When he first moved in, there…read morewas a roach infestation. Management said it would be resolved before move-in, yet to this day, we still have roaches despite "pest control" coming monthly. We've also dealt with recurring black mold issues in our vents, in the shower (even after it was 'cleaned' and re-caulked), and now around a leaking water heater that has caused the surrounding floor and wall to begin rotting (also covered in black mold). In every instance, management has failed to properly address or remove the mold. So definitely be aware of that before moving in.
Another issue I've reported: our next-door neighbor's boyfriend smokes cigarettes directly outside our door while sitting on the steps, then flicks the butts onto the ground. There are dozens of cigarette butts littering the walkway, steps, grass, gravel, and even near the condenser units. It's disgusting, smells terrible, and makes the property look neglected and unsanitary.
We were only informed of our rent increase at the exact time we signed our lease renewal. This notice also included the removal of flat-rate utilities, which are now charged based on the building's total usage and not by each individual unit. We were given no time to plan or explore other housing options. The rent increase was 9%, nearly triple the national average. When we voiced our concerns, we were spoken to in a condescending and dismissive manner.
The biggest issue, though, is our other neighboring unit. It appears to be rented to a group of teenagers (oldest looks about 19) who constantly throw parties involving Alcohol and other things that last from 8 PM until 6 or 7 AM, sometimes multiple nights in a row. These parties involve loud, bass-heavy music, shouting, vomiting in our shared walkway, and non-residents taking up all the parking. I've called the police numerous times, submitted videos, photos, and even copies of the police reports to Parawest Management. Yet nothing has changed. As soon as the police leave, the music and chaos start right back up.
I understand people wanting to have fun once in a while, but this is a chronic disturbance that makes it impossible to sleep or enjoy our home. There are noise ordinances for a reason, yet Parawest Management has done nothing to enforce them or protect their paying residents' peace and safety.
I've tried repeatedly to address these issues privately with management, but at this point, the lack of response has left me no choice but to share my experience publicly. Residents shouldn't have to beg for basic respect, cleanliness, and peace where they live.
