Burroughs Park is one of those places that makes you appreciate having great local parks nearby…read more It's huge and has a little bit of everything -- fishing ponds, multiple playgrounds for kids of different ages, long walking trails, and plenty of open space to just enjoy being outside. The playground areas are especially great for families because there are several scattered throughout the park, so it never feels overly crowded. The fishing ponds are also a nice touch if you want to slow things down and relax for a bit. It's a great spot for a weekend walk, letting the kids burn off some energy, or just getting some fresh air. The park is generally well maintained and there's plenty of room to spread out. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can get pretty busy on nice days and parking near the playgrounds fills up fast. But overall, it's definitely one of the better parks in the area and worth the visit.

Dog park win! This park is nestled away in the forest…read moretowards the back of the park. Love that it's a huge open fenced in park for the fur babies to roam. Lots of giant trees where squirrels like to play hide and seek with the dogs. Only down side is there's just one water fountain towards the front and then a couple faucets where folks bring dog bowls to put out for the dogs. There's a couple of wash stations outside of the dog park which comes in handy.

Oh Yeah, serenity abounds in this beautiful Woodlands Park…read more There are over 110 parks in The Woodlands but this one is special to me. This one has a beautiful lake with a waterfall which cascades over a bridge walkway. The meandering shape of the lake is just so graceful and relaxing to look upon. Some cool features are the fact you can walk down to the waters edge and just take in the beauty of the water gently splashing up on the grassy shores with big Texas shade trees and baby ducks sleeping in the grassy areas. Sit on the walkway wall right above the waterfall and watch the waterfall as you drift away daydreaming mindlessly without a care in the world. There's a couple of picnic tables to bring a snack and just hang out with a total 360 view of the lake. Picturesque for photos. Nicely manicured grass areas and natural grassy terrain - you choose. Catch and release fishing. You can ride your bike up to the waters edge or drive your car and just park on the side. There use to be many large wild ducks and geese which would walk across Cochrans Crossing and hold up traffic. Don't seem to see the big wild ones anymore. If you do and are new to this park don't feed them. They'll come running fast after you and will ATTACK. I've been chased out by them snapping at the bottom of my jeans. I even had to throw pine cones on the ground to deter them letting them think it was food to escape. Anyway it seems like the LARGE WILD ATTACK DUCKS have moved on and the park is back to a more ZEN feeling.

Great to see them helping out injured birds that could not survive in the wild. Exhibits are educational and the staff are very helpful and willing to answer any questions. The trails themselves are nice. You have the bluegill lake and then wooded trails. The trails are different lengths so you can choose how far you want to explore. A hidden gem in the spring area.

Been here so long ago for a walk and didn't know there was an actual center for visitors to walk in and it's free to explore. My first family visit here, we went on a walk around the trails, where we saw wild blue berry bushes and lots of turtles In the pond. We took some amazing photos. Then I kept telling people about the trails and the ponds and my nature experience. Some days I'd go here and just sit for a while listening to the sounds of the wild. Then one day I went just me and my daughter and saw parents and there kids going and coming from the building and I decided to go see what's there. It was the best idea ever. For the hot days it's so nice to be in nature but still indoors and learn about cool rocks animals and even see and real insects and animals. My daughter loves this place just as much as I do. Great for homeschoolers who wants to learn about science. There are all different types of insects you can view under microscope and some to see in real life, there is a reading nook, building blocks to resemble habitats, aquatic animals and birds. There's also some reptiles that I love to take pics of. It's like a hidden gem. So much to explore, even if you can't make it in time for the nature center which closes at 4pm Tuesday to Saturdays, you can walk or bike around the ponds and see the trail maps for different routes. There is also a kids park.
