Burroughs Park is one of those places that makes you appreciate having great local parks nearby. It's huge and has a little bit of everything -- fishing ponds, multiple playgrounds for kids of different ages, long walking trails, and plenty of open space to just enjoy being outside. The playground areas are especially great for families because there are several scattered throughout the park, so it never feels overly crowded. The fishing ponds are also a nice touch if you want to slow things down and relax for a bit. It's a great spot for a weekend walk, letting the kids burn off some energy, or just getting some fresh air. The park is generally well maintained and there's plenty of room to spread out. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can get pretty busy on nice days and parking near the playgrounds fills up fast. But overall, it's definitely one of the better parks in the area and worth the visit. read more

Dog park win! This park is nestled away in the forest towards the back of the park. Love that it's a huge open fenced in park for the fur babies to roam. Lots of giant trees where squirrels like to play hide and seek with the dogs. Only down side is there's just one water fountain towards the front and then a couple faucets where folks bring dog bowls to put out for the dogs. There's a couple of wash stations outside of the dog park which comes in handy. read more

This is one of the coolest parks in Tomball, and all of Harris County! There are several different trails here; either paved or dirt, whichever you prefer. If you do the paved trails, it'll lead you throughout the park and around the lake. The dirt trails are at the pavilion area and lead to the Spring Creek area. The Pavilion is a covered area with numerous picnic tables if you're looking to set up for a nice meal or a gathering. There's also a playground area nearby along with the lake where you can go fishing or walk around. Did I mention the size of this park and how much ground it covers!? That's one of the best features is the exploring you can do on the trails. Hands down one of my favorite parks in Harris County! read more

I really like this park because if the different trails. It's very huge and has lots to get into. I was first introduced to this park by the Houston Women's Hiking group, they had a hike out this way and at the time I lived an hour away. The drive was long, but well worth it. We covered 5 miles of hiking through the forest. The forest trails aren't primarily flat, but has some slopes. Its covered in pine needles making the walk easier with hiking boots. Poles aren't necessary needed. When I come alone, I enjoy walking the trail around the pond admiring the trees and ducks. I also really like the trail that's alongside the residential area. It's secluded to say that there isn't a lot of foot traffic. Last week, I came here to show Sneakers the park. We initially went to the dog park. The small section is medium sized with a walking path around. The larger dog park is huge. There was no one in the smaller park when we were there so we left and went to walk the pond trail. There's restrooms onsite next to the gigantic pavilion with the electric fan. Sometimes during events, the sheriff will close the whole park. I remember the weekend before Halloween, my hiking group had a planned hike here, but we weren't allowed in. I was disappointed since I'd driven so far to get here. Also, if you're looking for lunch check out Wheel House Kitchen just 2 minutes away then come back to enjoy the park. There's activities for everyone. read more

Then here a long time ago, it has changed a lot absolutely gorgeous. Could not get over it. There are tons of pavilions and barbecue pits smokers lots of different play areas a dog to fish off of a huge running course. It would take several trips to explore the whole thing thoroughly and still, I think you might be surprised to come back and find something you'd never seen before. Love coming here! This is a huge park which is great for everyone in the family. Theres a huge pond, multiple fields, a few play grounds and the best part, a nature trail. The nature is not on pavement and gives you a true escape from the city. It feels like you're in a different town. Ive been to several parks in this area and this one is my favorite. read more

What a gorgeous and well kept park! With trees getting chopped down ever so frequently around here to build homes, it's so nice to come to a park that helps you embrace nature again and admire God's creations. The park is so large that it can accommodate so many visitors without it ever feeling packed. So nice for all of us to be able to enjoy this park without feeling like we picked a bad day to do it (Sunday). Parking was a breeze as well. There's a lovely lake for great catch and release fishing and many ducks and squirrels ready to be fed by a friendly patron. You can take a stroll, jog, or bike with a beautiful scenery on their various trails ranging from .7 to 3.23 miles long. Quite a few different playground areas for kiddies big and small, and nice grassy areas and picnics tables and benches scattered throughout. I love that there's a guy on a golf cart rolling around and making sure facilities and everything is up to par too. They have a large pavilion that can be reserved for a fee, and another gazebo area that can be used for nice gatherings/birthday parties on a first come, first serve basis. I'll definitely be coming back to relax, and maybe swing on the swings...never too old for that! read more

You know, this park does not look bad, my only problem is that it is a bit confusing. When I come here for a soccer game, it can be overwhelming to look for the right field that the games take place. Parking is also a little odd if your game is not in the very front part of the park. I wish they had a better guide on how to get to the fields without having to constantly ask. read more

This is a great and beautifully maintained park! I go here 1-2 times a week with my puppy dog and she just loves every second of it! The dog park is very large, completely fenced in and has about a half mile of track for people to walk around on. I have brought this to their attention on more than one occasion and no one seems interested in doing anything about it. Many old pine {Spanish moss usually avoids pine} and oak trees will be devastated within 5-10 years with the rate of growth and spread of the moss - which happens to be a parasite. read more

Burrough's Park combines all the best park elements into one. There's sports fields, playgrounds, a huge pavillion, a lake for fishing and miles of trails to explore. I've been here with large (150 people) and small groups and it works well for each of these occaisions. Definitely a hidden gem of the Harris County park system. They do need to work on their "hedge maze" it's pretty sparse and doesn't really work. read more

We loved it here! There's a fishing pond, plenty of playgrounds, and a huge dog oark! I was absolutely amazed! For my daughter, she loved to walk by the water. She did have fun playing on the equipment until some kids went crazy with squirt guns and water balloons, scaring my kid. The parents didn't care, either. The same kids were dumping water down the slide of the under 5 year old playground, despite being older children who really should have known better. As for the dog park, I liked the facility and the water fountains. The bathroom nearby was clean. I let my dogs go over from the under 25 pound section to the over 25, since there was one other dog in such a large space. My girls were overjoyed with the hiking sensation and exploration. While quite the drive for us, it was a fun part of our "daycation." read more

Great place with 4 parks, countless trails, and a cute little catch and release pond. Clean and safe

Let's start off to say that I'm a little biased towards this park compared to others. I had been coming here since my Mom would take me and my brother in the early 90s, and later in the mid 2000s as a teenager. Burroughs park has stayed the same for most of that time, not that I'm complaining (other than a few additions over the past 15 years) because it evokes some nostalgia. However in the past 9 years the greater Houston area has grown exponentially and as a result this park and many others have been getting PACKED. You might as well come on a weekday on Tuesday at 11-2pm if you want to be able to fully enjoy the park. Coming here with a 4-6 year old has been a chore especially on the weekend. On a typical Saturday or Sunday you can't even let your kid play on the sets because there are 30 other parents with their own kids hovering around the each of the play areas acting incredibly rude. There are a few people here and there that aren't like that but for the most part it's almost impossible to enjoy bringing children here when it is busy. Then you have the trail and paved trail, which as I stated before have been extremely busy in the past decade. You have runners, bicyclists and the casual strollers. The bicyclists are the most annoying at times, because some think they can fly by at 30 mph getting close to other people's kids. Then you have the people who decide to take up the entire width of the trail blocking most of the way instead of keeping the traffic flowing smoothly on each side. The absolute WORST are the moms here though. They are some of the rudest and snotty people I have ever seen! The dads here with their kids are the only cool people I've seen so far. As a guy bringing a kid it makes it not enjoyable at times for both of us when it comes to these people. Again, this isn't to do with the park itself but the riff-raff that tends to flock here. read more

I love the dog park here. There are some really nice regulars who bring in kiddie pools in the summer for the dogs since there are no wading areas. The only thing I wish is that people with tiny chihuahuas and dachshunds would PLEASE KEEP THEIR TINY DOGS IN THE LITTLE DOG PARK. I have two great danes. I don't want to be responsible for one of them stepping on your fur sausage and injuring them. Also the tiny dogs that don't belong there in the first place tend to be bullies and their owners just laugh. There is a small dog park ten feet away for a reason. Kthxbai. read more

Great dog park area with bathing stations. walking trails and awesome paved bike paths. Decent number of restroom facilities. A lovely local park with dozens of hidden trails. It feels a world away from the city and there is plenty of room for everyone. Playgrounds, a fishing lake, paved and unpaved trails, wildlife, tables, and several very unique free use structures. I'm a fan! For trail runners: If you are a competitive trail runner you will be interested in training yourself here for variable elevation changes, soil inconsistencies and exceptionally damp conditions during Hurricane season. Something positive to be noted is also that the muggy conditions cause a light fog to flood the forest for several hours in the morning and several hours before evening. This is an awesome park! I've been here for a birthday party two years in a row now, and it's been a great experience both times. The park has soccer fields in the front, walking trails throughout, and a large area for picnics, barbecues, etc. There are plenty of playgrounds so none get too crowded, a nice lake for throwback fishing, and plenty of space. So much to do here besides play soccer! That's the only reason i visit. The trees are tall and the lighting at night is eventful leaving for great walks along the trails and even better competition on the pitch. Fishing isn't as drab as it may seem, to my fisherman pals. If you're used to the gulf or a larger lake for your fishing enjoyment then Burroughs may not deliver in terms of size, but it will suffice a peaceable environment away from stop lights and concrete. Great for families and children, but did i mention the soccer fields? They're kept well throughout the year for excellent competition. If the trees could talk they'd tell tales as tall as they stand about the superb shots and deplorable defending from time to time. If i didn't live so far away this is where much of my outdoor time with my dog D@sh would be spent. read more

Great Dog Park, Huge area with 1/4 mile walking track around the outer edge of the park. Dogs and owners tend to walk around which is great for dogs to keep on the move and not develop a pack like at the smaller dog parks. Due to this moving group, dogs don't become so territorial and dog fights don't seem to be a problem. Water fountains and bathing stations are available. read more

Very nice park. Lots and lots of areas to play, bbq and sit by the lake! Huge soccer fields (rare in usa) several playgrounds for kids of all ages.. Big trash cans by the bbq areas (cleanliness is a plus) Had a great day there and it was worth the long drive read more

Love this park. It's a great spot for families, walking, running, and biking. It's hard to longboard here unless you're on the road which isn't safe. Rollerblading is a little easier but not much. Make sure to bring shoes you. An get REALLY dirty and LOTS of bug spray for the trails in the back. I don't recommend heading into the trails less than 4 hours before sunset Incase you get lost. They have a volleyball course, baseball and soccer fields, and a pond for fishing (catch and release. There are cops that patrol which is wonderful. Not very many well spaced trees for hammocking though. There's also a pavilion and two sets of bathrooms that stay fairly clean. I'll add pictures next time I go. read more

Very pretty park with a lake, lots of open space, trees, and some good walking paths / dog parks. There was a lot of playground space for children, and people were fishing, grilling, just hanging out, etc. This would be a great place to have a get-together, picnic, or just spend some time with family. read more
