I loved the autonomy of having my own room, but still had the family feeling of being part of a bigger group, so that if something went sideways on my color and I was stumped I could run to a friend and say, "Help! This person's color tricked me. What should I do?" The management was generous to the point that it was humbling. When the Covid shutdown happened and the whole state shutdown, my fellow Salons by JC family and I are the only booth renters that I know that didn't have to pay my rent. What a blessing. And I can't say enough nice things about the concierge, Travis. If I'm slammed and can't get my towels folded, he's there for me. He shows my clients to my room, reaches high things (I'm short) for me, lifts heavy things for me, and over-all takes care of things and helps things go just a little more smoothly. I'm making a career change or I probably would have stayed there forever. If you're considering a suite experience, look no further. Salons by JC is the place for you!

I moved to CO a few years ago from…read morethe NYC area was really nervous about finding a new stylist and was so very lucky to find Shanette and won't let anyone else cut my hair! She is super talented, creative and an excellent listener and interpreter of your hair needs. I've had times when I was trying to explain what I wanted and did not want as I've changed my cut up a bit here and there (it's also daunting when you have curls and can't as easily predict how they will play within different shapes) and she is amazing at helping you work out exactly what you want and ensuring you are both on the same page--nothing is worse than thinking your stylist gets what you are looking for to only miss the boat...never the case with Shanette! The cuts are very thorough and she really takes her time to make sure you're happy and she provides honest feedback about what will work best for you which I find really important (some stylists will just do whatever and not tell you if maybe a tweak of your request will enhance the look etc.). More recently I entrusted Shanette to take my very long hair to a funky asymmetrical lob after having long hair my entire life--that's how much a trust and respect Shanette (my hair could have came out crazy and she made it work and then some)! Aside from doing beautiful cuts and great color she uses really quality, healthy products (no SLS, parabens or any of the bad ingredients so many products out there have) and helps our planet by sending off all hair clippings to aid in soaking up oil spills in the ocean. You can literally leave not only feeling like a new human with gorgeous locks but also feeling good knowing you don't have scary chemicals in your hair. It's not a deal breaker for me in terms of working with a stylist, but an added bonus is that Whim Mill has a super cute relaxing atmosphere and Shanette herself is really funny and I genuinely enjoy hanging out while I get hair done. It's like being in a little happy pink botanical boho cloud with the touches of greenery, mendhi inspired wall painting, etc. If you are even on the fence, just stop it--Shanette is the BEST and if you have to wait to see her (she's awesome so she really does book up and it take a while to get your first appointment) know that it is worth it!

In this one-man (for now) shop, Joseph works his magic. I have been going to him for close to 10 years now and he is just brilliant with cut and color. And he is a truly fantastic human being as well! I have recommended him to many, many people and everyone has been so pleased with his work! UPDATED 5/12: I still wholeheartedly recommend Joseph and The Mix! He is no-longer a one-man show, and has moved into a larger, light, modern space next door to his old shop, where he employs several other stylists -- whom I haven't tried personally, because I will not let anyone other than Joseph touch my hair! Subsequently, my hair was turning darker and darker with the root color process. Jess suggested we try a "Color Correction" to see if we could get my hair back to a closer version of my natural color. After discussing the process, we scheduled the appointment!
