She does my highlights and base color and really listens to what I want and helps me make decisions. She styles both straight or curly hair, but her expertise is knowing how to treat curls. I found Yelena when I was searching for a temporary hair stylist after my hairdresser of 7 years had rotator cuff surgery. I was quite nervous to go to someone whom I didn't know nor had ever met. I knew from her website that she was Deva Curl certified which is what I was looking for. I made the appointment and will say that Yelena was so incredible that I told my original hairdresser that I would no longer be coming to her. What is it that I like about Yelena? First she completely examined my hair in relationship to my face and body. She looked at the texture and the wave pattern and then lastly she created a color that was rich, glossy and complimented my skin tone. The Deva Cut was perfect and brought my layers back to frame my face in just the softest way. I googled this salon and took a chance that my booked appointment would be positive. I arrive to my appointment and the salon was actually her home which wasn't addressed to me prior, I arrive and was told that she could perform highlights on my dark colored hair. I was also told that I needed a trim because of my ends. My hair is long and while I didn't want it cut I trusted that she was a professional after all she did tell me she has "16" years experience. After the highlight "attempt" was done she touched up my roots and began to rinse my hair she quickly added more color to tone it down?! She says! Once I was able to look in the mirror I didn't see what I asked for, it was some lighter areas in my hair but very faded in coloryou would actually have to be in the sunlight to see any color. She then performed a "blowout" keep in mind I'm half African American half Hispanic so my hair is very fine. I couldn't believe that she had the nerve to charge well over $200 for this epic fail and a trim? (Not cut) was $70.00 by itself. This lady is not a professional she is money chasing woman who really could care less about your hair as long as you pay her at top prices. I had a good experience here, and wanted to share 7 helpful points - especially for first timers. To note, this is from the perspective of a guy, and I know everyone has different opinions/experiences. 1) the shop is actually in her basement, which is kinda cool/interesting. It looks professional though. 2) she washes your hair before and after the cut so that's a nice bonus 3) her consultation give you time to discuss what you want. So overall, it's a pretty great experience. 4) Except for the fact that you're paying $45 for a haircut - which is one of the most expensive I've seen. Although the cut was good, I wouldn't consider it stellar...and I can't justify a repeat $45 price tag. 5) If you do end up going, however, note that there's a 15% discount for all services if you're new. 6) Make your appointment online through the convenient portal. 7) Also there are a variety of payment methods. Let me start by saying that I'm incredibly picky about my hair. When I have to find a new hair stylist, it's quite stressful. I've always gone to high end salons in the hope that they've had more advanced haircutting training; however, it's certainly not a guaranty of finding someone good. My last guy was really good at cutting, but he didn't listen to what I wanted and scalped me... twice! I found Yelena on Google, and something told me to give her a go. Wost place i ever been to as of costumer service . Not for women hair . I came in last minute . I showed the hairstylist a picture of a haircut i want and she said she cant do it , because i have to have detailed pictures of back and all ankles ? What this the first time a hairstylist told me that . If i know all ankles and details i would just cut it myself lol . So i ask her if she do this part time or she have more job and she hot so offensive she would not stop talking about it . She said i need treatment for 30$ and so i said ok thinking i would get some treatment for my hair but no , she literally just rinse my hair and put some "treatment" on and rinse back like in 2 minutes lol no wait or anything . I could just have go to wash my hair myself would be longer then that . But the worst worst part is she would stop and start calling like 5 times , like let say the whole thing took 1hour she would be on the phone for 30minutes . The haircut looks like i put a boil on my head and cut it , and if i say to fix something she would be unhappy and say like u said u didnt want a bang . At the end no spray or treatment my hair smell like nothing , like even a cheap shampoo would smell like something !. So i was scared to even ask for anything else so i just say yeh i like it its ok and left . My god u really bad for 100$ haircut . I sagest u just cut men's hair and styling braids . Zero stars would be better! About a month and a half ago I came to this lady to get my hair done. I asked her how long she had been doing hair she claimed that 15 years so I assumed she knew what she was doing. I was awfully wrong not only did she have me help her cut the foils but she damaged my hair because she didn't ask many questions about my prior hair treatments until after she had processed my hair with bleach and she noticed all the damage. I saw her face in shock when she noticed. She kept insisting that I needed some hair products to treat my hair for the damage and to moisturize it. I eventually agreed and had me pay for it in advance claiming that it should arrive no later than 3 days from that day. A week pass by and she never reached out to let me know that she had given "my products" to some other customer of hers. When I messaged her that I wanted a refund because I had done some research on her products and that they didn't have good reviews and it was causing hair loss she stated that she could not do that because she had already ordered the product. Keep in mind she had stated that it was supposed to arrive within three days. Magically the products arrived that same day at that time that I was talking to her. I've tried to reach her ever since and she doesn't answer phone calls or texts. So if you want your hair done professionally do not go with her. I have submitted an official complaint to the state board about her. read more
