Cool place with a ton of Garfield themed decor. There's a very limited amount of seating so most people get their orders to go. Highly recommend getting here early, because they only have one person cooking so unless you're one of the earliest customers (we were first in line), it may take a while to get your food. I definitely recommend the breakfast burrito, which they have on Saturdays. All the ingredients were such high quality (LOVE their tortillas, eggs were perfectly cooked, salsa delicious, hashbrowns added a nice crunch), it's definitely one of the better breakfast burritos I've had. My sister got the halfsmoke sausage with chili, which was also delicious with tons of flavor. Would absolutely return the next time I'm in DC, if I'm around the area.

Small quaint shop where you can get chili inspired dishes or breakfast items for dine or or to go. Pack your patience as most items take 20-30 minutes when there are other patrons in front of you. I saw that you could place an order online but most items weren't available. If you are in a rush they do have a few almost ready or grab and go items that you can get fairly quickly. They have a few low and tall stools and not so much standing room on a rainy day like today. Parking is iffy and at your own risk. The halfsmoke had a hint of spice with a slightly tough exterior and I would prefer it grilled a little longer. The chili was ok, when I tasted it by itself and I was full so I didn't get a ch ace to try the blueberry turnover but it says it's made fresh in house. Not sure I will drive back downtown for a $20 halfsmoke, fresh squeezed lemonade that was full of ice and a turnover....not knowing if my car was going to have a ticket on it.

big fan of meats and foods. great local spot with nice workers and theres about 4 seats inside, but also solid amount of outdoor seating. my breakfast sandwich was delicious and everyone I was with loved what they got. I feel like their menu has something for everyone from their chilito to their breakfast all day options. the space is tiny but warm and homey feeling.

Wouldn't say I love meats but I do love Meats and Foods! There's a lot to unpack about why this place is so great. First, the decor - plants, bobble heads, Garfield, need I say more? Second, the food itself was just what I wanted for a solid, delicious breakfast. The potatoes are fried and oh so delicious and they go great with eggs and cheese for the breakfast bowl! I didn't try the sandwich but that looked good too! Third, it's tucked away in a location where you probably won't find a ton of options otherwise. I don't think I'd ever had passed it before, so don't miss it in its tucked away location off Rhode Island! Finally, it's not too expensive or over-the-top. It's just the right amount of good food, good vibes, and good costs all around.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Go no place else for high quality comfort food. They use real butter!! (Three people said this in line.) Scott, the owner, has displayed grace and style in the whole joint. For a smaller footprint it's super clean. Food is 100% delicious. Garfield approves! IYKYK

    Bacon egg and cheese

Yes yes yes! This was so amazing! The Chillito was so good! The chilli inside was very tasty and well seasoned. As well as the bacon egg and cheese. The bacon was so crispy and delicious. It is a small place but the vibes were very and I loved their plants and Garfield collection. 10/10 I will be coming back

I really wanted to try this DC classic, the "half smoke" before I left. It did not disappoint, I only wish the bun was toasted! I recommend adding mustard.

I wanted to go to check out Dr. Dre and his unneccessarily expensive headphones, and all of his sworn enemies that he writes those raps about. Obviously I came to the wrong place. I should have gone to "Beats And Feuds." Oh well. Definitely a 5. Easily. Even based on the food alone it'd probably be a 5 for how imaginative it is. I really loved the sausages, I mean they weren't off the charts amazing, but they were tasty and juicy and different. The chorizo was prob the best, the others a bit bland perhaps by my standards (I love spicy sausages and British sausages and cute boy sausages oh wait), but they were all hot and yum. Despite this place being a hipster place, the prices are pretty good. It's kind of in a bad area, but then so are you if you're in my bedroom. Needed to buy plastic chairs. Should have gone to "Seats & Foods." Needed a new faux wood fire. Should have gone to "Heats & Foods." Wanted to be really submissive and pathetic. Should have gone to "Feets & Foods." Let's do some more. Wanted to meet Mr Sampras and Mr Townsend. Should have gone to "Petes & Foods." Wanted to get some soccer shoes. Should have gone to "Cleats & Foods." Was hoping to meet a sheep (I'm from Wales). Should have gone to "Bleats & Foods." The real star of the show here is the employees, and the service. Truly absoutely wonderful. It was close to closing time but they not only served me but gave me some extras because they were throwing them away. Including a free extra sausage. They were totally fine with serving me late (and I called ahead and they picked up and told me in advance they'd be fine with it). Some very lovely people running this place and they make some pretty good sausages. Definitely somewhere that sausage lovers should come and check out, like, asap and stuff. Oh, and: Wanted to meet Donald Trump. Should have gone to "Deceits & Foods." Wanted to meet Bill Clinton. Should have gone to "Cheats & Foods." Wanted to meet the U.S. Constitution. Should have gone to "Obsoletes & Foods."

    Half smoke with vegetarian chili
    Alice W.

Everything about this place is the ideal comfort lifestyle. Their specialty is sausage, but they also have chilis, egg and cheese sandwiches, frito pie, and breakfast burritos/chilitos/veggie-litos. There are seven options for sausages: half-smoke, chorizo, salt and pepper chicken, chickendog, garlic pork, smoked spicy chicken, and veggie sausage. You can add bacon, cheese, beef or vegetarian chili, sauerkraut, jalapenos, or a Gordy's pickle as toppings. I chose the half-smoke and topped it with vegetarian chili. Super delicious, particularly the vegetarian chili! I also was able to try their breakfast burrito, which was surprisingly tasty. In fact, my California-born and raised fiancé said that it was the best breakfast burrito he's had in the area. We were able to enjoy our half-smokes and burrito inside, which I think is the ideal situation for optimal freshness. However, I will admit that there is not much seating inside or outside. Try to come at an off-peak time! Aside from the delicious meats and foods, the decor is absolutely on point. There are tons of vintage McDonald's Garfield mugs that have been repurposed as plant holders, as well as other Garfield toys scattered everywhere. I love all the plants in the little space too.

    Sunday biscuit
    Jason C.

Sunday biscuits are the best. For $3.50 you can get a delicious sausage biscuit. The meat has a tad of spice while being complimented by a delicious jam. So good. You cannot go wrong with the sausages. Put some toppings on it for the full effect. On top of all this, you can wash it down with a cheap beer ($3 for a natty bo). If you want something cheap and delicious, this is the place.

    Beef chili with cheese
    Farhat K.

Came here for a quick bite and boy was it tasty. It's a small store with some seating inside and outside. They had some cool music playing. Luckily, I was able to snag a seat after I ordered beef chili with cheese and a halfsmoke sausage. The food was ready within 20 mins and I chowed it down. I really, really enjoyed my chili. It tasted so savory with the meaty flavor of the beef and cheese combining to form a party in my mouth. I would probably get more cheddar cheese cause I wanted it in each bite of my chili. The halfsmoke was good. I took parts of my chili and added it to the hotdog to make it taste even better. I would just order it with chili next time since I liked it so much. I guess I would like to try their Chorizo next time and the frito pie.

Not really. There's counter space to post up on. There's a picnic table outside depending on the weather. More a grab and go spot.

Let me start with the cheesesteak. I am a firm believer that an amazing cheesesteak has to nail the 3 components: 1) quality meat, 2) gooiness of the cheese, 3) freshness of the roll. Harvey's nailed the meat. The gooiness of the cheese was inconsistent but I do like their take on their own wiz. The roll was eh. Also, the onions were just thrown into the meat instead of being car elided on the flat grill. I think what really took my by surprised was the staff. The cook seemed to be on break eating while I waited for my order. Now it was a little dead in Union Market. I showed up around 5ish on a Friday night. But I was a little caught off guard when watching the staff during the making of my sandwich. Just expected a higher standard. If I lived in the area, I love the availability of getting fresh quality cuts of meat as they have available for your viewing pleasure. Their menu of sandwiches available here still look great. But now that I've tried their cheesesteak, I don't feel the need to stop for it again.

You can find everything from Michele's granola, mung beans, 3 crabs fish sauce, oat milk, Korean melon ice cream bars, and latin groceries. They've done a good job at diversifying their products to meet the needs to the yuppy-fied neighborhood and long-time residents. This is where I go for some Asian ingredients (in addition to Hana market) that can't be easily found in DC. In addition to what I mentioned above, they have plenty including dried mushrooms, msg, gojuchang paste, dried pho noodles, Kewpie mayo, and more! You can also find some good deals on produce here. Their green beans are usually really fresh and crunchy. They also carry bean sprouts and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. They used to carry Thai basil here and there, but I haven't seen it in a while. Their cilantro prices are usually also really reasonable; it was 2 bunches for $1 today! Now what makes this really special is their butcher counter (service during daytime hours, but if you call in advance, they may be able to accommodate up until 6/6:30 potentially) will actually work with you to get you what you need and it won't cost an arm and a leg. I go here to buy pork ribs bc they'll cut them lengthwise for me to cut into riblets for Vietnamese sườn kho or soup and I also order sliced meat here when I have bbqs (typically sliced pork shoulder for Vietnamese grilled pork, but they've sliced up entire pork chop hunks to my specification as well with a few days notice). There's no extra cost for butcher service either! I no longer live near this market, but I still try and go once a month bc I can't get most of this unless I go to the burbs, which is much further lol Highly recommend this local market.

Not sure if the location moves, but when I went, it was at the Emergence Community Arts Collective. A $2 fee allows access to many food & beverage vendors, almost all of which have samples. You could get full on the samples alone, but you should really buy something, and you will want to, because everything is quite good. I mainly went for one reason: Haitian pâté (patties) from Mezanmi. My understanding is that since the closing of Chez Yonyon, the DMV is sorely lacking Haitian food, and I definitely miss it (ok, crave it) from my Massachusetts days. Haitian pâté is in puff pasty and the meat is less ground up than the Jamaican version you may be familiar with. I think the Haitian version is way tastier, and these definitely were. Plus, for $1, you could add a side of pickleez. Moving on from that, there were a lot of baked goods vendors, plus vendors selling juice, empanadas, sofrito, tacos, pierogis, and various sandwiches (pork, sausage, etc.). I sampled the juice (yummy) and various sweet treats, all of which I liked. I ultimately decided to go for an ice cream sandwich: maple bacon ice cream with bacon bits between two thin waffle cookies (sort of like pizzelles, but without anise). Though melty, this was amazing. The ice cream was not overly sweet, and the cookies were still crisp, even though the item was cold. Plus, there were plenty of bacon pieces inside the ice cream. This was from a vendor called Suga Mama Sweets (you can find their products on the lobster truck during Truckeroo as well). While I liked the location because there was plenty of parking, there was minimal seating and shade, so that was a bit tough. But, I definitely can't wait until the next Grey DC.

Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

I ordered a 9 inch capicola, ham, and cheese sub on the hard roll. The roll was very good and fresh but I couldn't taste the cheese or meat in the sandwich because there wasn't enough of it. I also noticed that the they have different prices for the same type of meats. For example, they have a $29.99 per pound Capicola and one for $9.99 a pound. I asked which went on the sandwich and of course it was the cheaper one. That wasn't surprising and getting my sandwich back to the office. I decided not to eat the rest of the meatless sandwich and just take the loss. I wouldn't come back nor would I recommend a friend to try it

We had a gift certificate to Your Only Friend. Glad we did! This spot is a gem! Get here early…read morebecause the seats will fill up! The service was superb and the ambiance was awesome! All the way down to the mayo wallpaper in the restroom! As a Dukes Mayo fan, that's awesome! To the food and drink. We had a pickle soda and local sour beer. Both were great and tasty on a hot day. We had three various appetizers from the cool ranch onion rings to the Seattle fries with a mix of dope beet salad in there. All were good, the onion rings were definitely my favorite and judging by all the orders I saw around, it was everyone else's as well. The mains were the RPG and the fish special. The RPG was a bit heavy on the mayo, next time would ask for less mayo but it was still delicious as a char su pork fan. This hit the mark. The fish sandwich was tangy and spicy which made it delicious. It was a bit messy and the bun didn't hold up great but that didn't detract from the flavors. All in all this place is a gem of a sandwich shop / bar. Would recommend if you are in the area.

The food was good. The hot nug sandwich had a nice tangy taste. Not too spicy and was very manageable. I'd had lived more spicy but the flavors were still very satisfying. The fries were great too. I really enjoyed the sauces and couldn't stop eating them. I'd definitely recommend Thai place if you are looking for a good sandwich and a quick bite!
