    Wide selection of sleeping bags
    Andrea W.

MEC in the south side! what else we can ask for! All the products that we love are here! Definitely there are few differences between this brand new store and the one in downtown. Bigger, brighter, tons of parking space, nice bathrooms, tons of things on display! Staff was really nice and helpful. One of the guys assisted me while I was checking the sleeping pads, I feel very satisfied with my purchase, there were so many options, I'm so happy he was around. They have a good selection of tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, hiking and camping gear in general. Before coming you can also check their website and find out if the item you are looking for is available at the store. The store is located really close to Cineplex, so maybe you can either stop by on your way to the movies or after :) I'm sure I'll be visiting this store quite often!

We stopped in to pick up a pair of toddler sized ear protection mufflers on our way to Nitro Jam with the fam. We were happy with both the selection and availability of staff for questions. The store was GORGEOUS and made me want to come back just to wander and look at everything. I had heard that Cabelas was famour for their fudge but really quite taken aback by the vast array of sugary delights and sweet treats they had in stock. I didn't expect an outdoor store to have a section of candy rivaling any grocery store! My toddler loved all the animals about the store - almost like walking a Smithsonian! Okay, maybe not that many but you get the idea. They even had a fudge counter where you could watch pastry chefs making fresh batches of fudge! We didn't partake in any sweet treats on this visit but rest assured... We will be back! The only negative comment I have heard from my hunting/fishing circle of friends is that they need to carry a better array of fish lures that are appropriate to the fish that can be caught both locally and throughout Alberta. My understanding is that they carried more lures for fish not found locally than found locally; but then again, what do I know?

We had seen via the website that the store sold snowshoes that my kid would enjoy and we got to try them on in the store to make sure they would work. They have been a great success! Additionally the kid found a great new water bottle and I found some great clearance sandals among other things. I liked the amount of staff who were available to answer questions, the good amount of space but no clutter and the great selection of items. We debated getting many things but are happy with our final purchases. We might not camp much but it's great to have such an excellent snowshoe source and a great place to find other things for the outdoors!

Staff know their stuff and if they don't they will tell you up front so you don't get less than useful advice. I was shopping for boots today, and the first gent was straight that his specialty was softer goods at the front of the store, directed me to the lovely gal at the back in boots and she was on the money. Knowledgeable about the different fits and insulating values, even called the West store for me & put my size on hold. Three day hold too! I wear a non-athletic clothing size so sometimes I luck out on the clearance racks. It's not the most low budget prices place, but they do carry some unique products. Parking is great, just outside the door, and access is sweet from Gateway Blvd. or Calgary Trail. They had a great online sale, and delivery to the store is free. Will update my review since they didn't have any of my item in stock to look at before ordering. Price was fantastic, so we'll see.

I was surprised they sell the car attachment tent structures because I've been looking at these online. It's good to see them in person to see if it's actually the fit you'd like to use. Lots of staff nearby to help which is great. Parking here is very small for a large shop. However, I'm not sure many people are aware of this store. This would definitely be a store I'd come to if I couldn't find gear and equipment near my retail stores. Recommended for anyone looking to get camping, hiking, or outdoor gear.

Prices are high, like all other outdoor stores in Edmonton (seriously, what is with that?) but the service cannot be beat. Don't get me wrong. I also like M.E.C. & Cabela's but the attention to detail and customer assistance at Campers Billage cannot be beat! Whether you're looking for some base layer clothing or the perfect cast iron pan/griddle, you will find it here! I really like their children's section for winter wear & mitts (though my heart belongs to Cabela's for their waterproof Muck boots). This is also my family's go to store for great quality waterproof sandals. The hubs & I just picked up a pair each of Keen'a covered toe sandals for our trips this summer. Dave (in shoes) couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgeable. If you've ever show shopped at Nordstrom's in the states, Dave is that quality of a salesperson. See you soon Camper's Village (well, as soon as my wallet lets me).
