This shop is next to my workplace, so I thought this would be an easy way to get an oil change. Drop the car off at 8am and pick it up at 5. Easy enough I thought. I leave work at 5:30pm and hear a scraping sound, I hit the highway and it gets louder, I pull over at the first exit and discover that they didn't attach my skid plate. Thankfully I had AAA, called them and they had to send out two trucks since the first one couldn't repair it. They were going to tow my car until the serviceman was able to do a quick fix on the side of the road. By this time, I had spent over 2 1/2 hours on the side of the road in 90-degree heat on a Friday night where I had dinner plans (these plans were obviously missed). I get home at 8:30pm, a normal 30-minute drive taking 3 hours. I send them an e-mail detailing how they forgot to bolt on my skid plate. Monday they call and I'm told that as long as they have an open bay available, they should be able to get my car in. "What?!" You botch the job and then you're not even guaranteeing that you'll be able to get it fixed the next time I bring it in? They have on their site that they will pick your car up and return it to you, they do not offer me this service. They don't offer a refund, discount or anything, I don't even get an apology in person. The only apology I ever received was via text after they secured my plate. That apology was preceded by the sentence, "There doesn't appear to be GREAT damage to your skidplate". Oh cool, your shop's incompetence damaged my car, but at least it's not "Great" damage. They give you a 20-point inspection when you get an oil change, 6 of those items are "undercar", but apparently nobody noticed a loose skid plate! Which pretty much makes this whole inspection completely worthless as I don't trust it. To put your family name on this business and offer such a crap service is unfathomable to me. [As of 6 January 2022] Meckfessel's Tre and Auto...Since 1927. That is over 90 years! I am only a third of that. I'm just trying to say that 90 years is a long time of service. And there has been no interruption since the beginning! I was in desperate need of new tires and I was having difficulties getting some b/c of the aftermarket modifications to my car. Nonetheless, Meckfessel was the answer to my problem. After one phone call, I was dropping my car off in less than 24 hours. Mr. Bob's customer service was the same over the phone as it was in person: the best! Within minutes of checking in, Ben was servicing my vehicle. Total service time to a little over an hour. I was surprised to see they don't use floor covers to protect the car from any debris. Being able to find a local FAMILY business like this is great! While returning to Virginia from St. Louis for a Mother's Day get together, the tire on my vehicle blew out on the highway near Belleville and was totally shredded. It was my good luck to contact Meckfessel Tire & Auto who were able to fit me in for a replacement tire on a busy Monday morning. Their friendly and efficient team quickly got the replacement tire in place and we were back on the road in no time, and at a good value as well. I love this place! They are way less expensive on some things than the dealer I was taking my car to. As an example I needed a belt changed. My dealer was going to charge over $200. Meckfessel did it for less than $90. They give a discount for AAA members plus they have a rewards program so you can accrue credit towards future repair jobs or maintenance work. They are always courteous and very respectful. I never feel like I'm being talked down to like some repair places can make a woman feel. read more

I'm prejudiced about this place for a family member works there and he is the greatest. But all the from front desk to garage guys are great. All are very helpful and pleasant. All seemed to be truthful even if you don't want to hear it about the repairs etc. They are up to date on make and model and find the parts etc. It is a good choice to try out for great mechanics and ask your questions. Even the owner might be on hand. It is a family business. No, my family member is not part of this family business. I don't think you be sorry if you try them. Probably be glad you did. I took a tire to Meckfessel to mount and balance. Not only were they super friendly and happily mounted and balanced my tire (even without me purchasing them there), they also were super fast, accommodating, called to verify information, and were so reasonable! Their hours are fantastic (7:30 AM - 5:30 PM) so it makes it beyond easy for me to drop off and retrieve my tire, car, whatever. I had my car repaired here a few months ago and when I got my car back, there were still some issues with it and they insisted that it was nothing that they did. I ended up having to take my car to another repair shop and sure enough, the job they did and charged for was bogus. This is the second time I have been to Meckfessel and each time they have been great. I recently bought some tires from Tire Rack and had them shipped there to install the tires. I also asked them to check the alignment. After they completed the work the sales person came out and showed me the alignment paperwork and said it was borderline out of limits and he didn't think it would be worth to spend the money to do the small tweaks he would have to do. He suggested we drive the car and if we notice it is pulling to bring it in and he will do the alignment. He could have easily told me it needed an alignment and I wouldn't of known.
