I did not eat in the restaurant, so I didn't rate it a 5 for atmosphere. Tried my first gyro tonight. It was better tasting than Pita Jungle in my opinion. So far I have had there Greek Fries ( with a side of Tzatziki), Mozzarella sticks, Dolma, and Chicken Shawarma. And now their namesake Gyro. Dolma is an acquired taste, but I liked it. So, you might or might not like it based on your preference. My goal is to sample every non-duplicative menu item in the next couple weeks, and give a fuller review. I almost exclusively come here for the gyros. I must say that it's better this time than the last but the menu has completely changed. Gone are Niros roots of Chicago fare like hot dogs or beef sandwiches. The menu is almost exclusively kebabs and schwarma. read more

We've always wanted to stop in here and finally did. If you want some Greek food in Ahwatukee this is a good option. Service was quick and polite. Restaurant was clean and bright. Gyro had generous amounts of onion and tzatziki (I personally prefer a little less-- but others might like this feature). Meat was packed high in front and low in back (maybe to fit in the paper wrapper?) Self serve drinks and ketchup packets. read more

We went in to order to go! While waiting we noticed it was a nice and modern ambiance with dim lighting. We really liked it!! Others were coming and ordering also! This place seems to be family owned. Only 2 people working at the time we went. They were nice. The food was delish!! It hit the spot. Very filling. We were very happy with the service we received. We ordered ahead, Food was ready on time and hot. Everything was well packaged in easy to eat from containers. The sauces were delicious. It's actually been a few years since we've been to Niro's but we wanted to revisit and specifically have for Gyros. Everything was the same at this visit in terms of the restaurant, maybe a bit tired but mostly clean. We were the only people in the restaurant and as we finished another person entered and ordered. We noticed only one person working, taking orders and preparing the food. Curious about that. Back to the "mostly clean"...They have a set up in the corner where you can get napkins, silverware (plastic), and catsup. The napkin holders were covered in old, dried sprayed catsup which was a turn off and I wonder if Environmental Services would have an issue? I'm always suspicious of soda machines so I typically bring my own water so I'm not getting water from the soda machines...don't drink soda. Anyway, on to the actual food...The counter was full of containers of baklava which was so tempting so I picked up one with two pieces. We both ordered the Gyro Pita Wrap, which is served on a pita, with tomato and I had no onion, wife had onion, and there was some tzatziki sauce spread on it. The sandwich was "ok"...nothing spectacular unfortunately. The sauce didn't really have a strong typical taste of garlic and cucumbers, the meat was ok although some had drier edges. Again, it was ok. Wife wanted the Greek fries and I wanted plain initially we were rung up as all separate items and when I said something about the price of a meal, which was a tad cheaper, the gentleman made the change in price. So I got the meal deal minus the drink. We paid an extra $2 for the Greek fries. The baklava was not good...found it to be dry and flavorless and actually a tad old tasting. We actually ended up tossing them at home once we each had a bite. Ok experience and will go elsewhere when the Gyro bug hits us again. read more

I sought this place out after looking over the menu and hunting for a Phoenix area gyro joint. I ventured off the beaten path and targeted the Chipotle or Mexican Style Gyro. Overall - pretty darn good! It was a heavy lunch and it just felt odd eating a "gyro" in burrito form instead of a pita. I liked it but may have built it up too much in my imagination before trying it. I could have used a little more spice/hot sauce. The lack of tzatziki also contributed to me feeling like I was just eating a burrito! Cool concept that absolutely hit the spot. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and the comforting aroma of fresh herbs, grilled meats, and warm pita bread. We love the chicken shawarma and greek fries! Honestly the best I've ever had. My husband loves the gyro plate. It is filled with tons of meat, hummus, rice, and a Greek salad. Definitely two meals worthy of food. The falafel wrap is just so-so. The menu items inside don't match what's online per what the contents are. The owner or manager is always seemingly annoyed with any customization, even when simple, and never smiles. A lot of people indicated this was great Mediterranean food, so perhaps other meals are great. The hummus was runny and the falafel would have been better in a pita rather than tortilla. Have been back now for a couple of years. This place now absolutely rocks. I always buy the schwarma or the Mediterrainian salad with schwarma, and it is amazing. I don't know what the schwarma sauce is, but it is amazing. Now I never eat here, since I usually pick up several orders. The people running this place are awesome and super nice. The ladies bathroom was not clean. That should have told us right there this wasn't going to be good. The double gyros plate which we split was a joke. The meat was tiny scraps that looked like they scraped the bottom of the pan, very pale tasteless tomatoes and onions. The tazeike had NO flavor at all. I've lived in Ahwatukee my entire life and this was my first time coming to Niro's. Our experience tasted better than any mediterranean places I've been to in Ahwatukee. The service was quick and the environment was cozy and serene. As for the food, you can not go wrong with their deliciously tender and flavorful gyro meat.
