Wedding photos are great but wedding videos provide an entire new dimension to your wedding memory. No, I'm not talking about a music video where it's just a bunch of wedding shots meshed w/ some tacky wedding music. I'm talking about a REAL wedding video that tells a STORY about the couple through creative arts. I'm talking about something that your family can watch in 10 years and still be just as meaningful and memorable. If u want to preserve a story and not just a video, give Media Blend a serious look. After all, every relationship is a unique story. My wife and I are kind of OCD when it comes to organization/planning so we looked at over 20 videography companies around the DFW area. And when I say "looked at", I mean actually watching through 80% of each company's portfolio. In the end, Media Blend won us over due to their: 1. personalization to each couple through attention to small details 2. unique story-telling style of film making (not a cookie cutter "wedding video") 3. knowledge about filming and the use of high-end equipment 4. ability to ask the right questions to really get to know the couple These are by no means their only qualities, just the ones that separated them from the rest of the pack. And the end result? A M A Z I N G ! ! ! My wife and I can't even begin describing how happy we are with our videos. It's mindblowing how well the shots were combined and edited to tell our story. It's not just any love story. It's OUR love story. Even with just the highlight film, it was enough to wow all our guests. Our asian parents (who are super picky and rarely give compliments) loved the videos so much that they would play the disk during holiday parties and other events at their place. Media Blend is a young company. Chris, the lead videographer, is also young. But he's got some serious skills. The company might be young but they produce like high-end companies that charge over $8000. Just check out their videos on Vimeo. Their work speaks for itself. For those that are interested, here's a rundown of our experience with Media Blend. PRE-WEDDING 8 months before our wedding, we met up with Chris and Michael to learn about Media Blend's style and vision. They showed us more of their work (ones that are not posted on Vimeo) and explained their story-telling philosophy. After 2 weeks of deliberation, we decided to get their 8-hr package. We kept in touch through emails and they gave us a detailed questionnaire to fill out about ourselves. A month before our wedding, we met up with Chris and Shawn (our on-the-day videographers) to talk about... pretty much everything, from specific shots we want to on-the-day schedule. They really wanted to know us well in person. Also, even though we paid for the 8-hr package, they had no problem extending it to 10 hours (for free) in order to fit our wedding day schedule. WEDDING DAY Their on-the-day execution was FLAWLESS. Everyone dressed up professionally, all black, and ready to go. They brought their fancy equipments and had multiple backups of everything. Even though our package only included 2 videographers and 3 cameras, 3 people came with at least 4 or 5 cameras, some for special shots like time-lapses. They worked really well with our photographers by coordinating shots and not getting into each other's ways. On top of that, they were good at staying hidden, like ninjas, and helping us feel natural. To be honest, we didn't even realize they were there most of the times. We've been to quite a lot of weddings over the past 2 years and none of the videographers even came close to Media Blend's level of professionalism. And unfortunately, the professionalism factor often gets overlooked when couples are choosing videographers. Camera in your face in the middle of the chapel? Sitting in the middle of the dance floor looking bored? Cussing? My cousin who's a "video enthusiast"? Yeah... I don't think so. You know you have the right people when your guests are raving about your videographers even before any videos were made. POST-WEDDING They kept to our initial time table and there weren't any surprises. We got married in Dec 2012. We got to see our highlight trailer in Jan 2013 (1 month) and our final film in May 2013 (5 months) on Vimeo. The final Blu-ray disks, which include the 2 videos and the raw footage of both the ceremony and the reception, came in June 2013 (6 months). We requested for the soft copy of the 2 videos (so that we can watch it on our computers w/o a disk) and they mailed it to us on an USB stick for free. They even edited the "raw" footages so that they're actually interesting to watch. Most of the other raw wedding footage I've seen before were literally unwatchable. Overall, my wife and I are sooooo glad that Media Blend was able to capture our special day with such quality and professionalism. In my previous review you can tell that i was quite satisfied with Media Blend Studios and have been waiting to give a final review once we received the finished DVD, HERE IS THAT REVIEW...... Pros: When you first start working with them you get timely replies via email or phone calls. Upon initial meet & greet, your amazed by their previous work and blown away by how they seem to know where exactly to be on your special day to capture all the moments. Day of the wedding your still impressed by how professional and friendly the staff is. The crew seem to be everywhere so how would they miss anything??! So once we got the snippet we were blown away by the quality and how well they pieced it together! Really couldn't wait for the finished DVD now!! So the wedding was May 25th and now its October,...This is what has happened since then...We received a email mid September from them asking did we want our video in HD or regular. WOW how excited wifey was to finally hear its ready!! So she replied immediately and ask if there was any way we could have it overnighted and we would pay for it!!? 1 week went by no response,..2 wks went by no response, 3 WEEKS no reply, so you have gotten our hopes up for nothing and won't even reply to our MANY emails and phone calls! After 5 weeks of no reply and checking mail box every day WE WERE A LIL PISSED TO SAY THE LEAST.....what kept us calm was the snippet trailer they sent a Lil after the wedding so we just used our imagination and the DVD i made at home with the pics and videos(THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD AND I'M NOT JUST SAYING IT CAUSE I MADE IT, I MADE COPIES FOR SOME OF OUR FAMILY AND THEY ENJOYED IT TOO!!) Finally a response!! We were told it would be shipped out and should arrive Mon @ 12noon. It arrived!!! we were overwhelmed with joyyyy....until we watched it :( We payed a nice amount of money and not one frontal shot of my wife coming down the ISLE!! Being a man new to this I didn't understand the importance of it but the tears in my baby's eyes helped me understand that ITS VERY VERY IMPORTANT THE CAMERA GETS A FRONTAL SHOT OF BRIDE COMING DOWN!!... Other things we didn't like was the music selection but I guess we should have picked more then just one song so no foul but there were extended moments where the camera was blurry and stayed blurry for Min's!! Why didn't they edit those out and just add some other footage? There was NO video of people on the dance floor, it skipped from cake cutting to us leaving WTF!!!!?? On my garter dance most of me you can only see from the neck down or head up no full shots....sigh...and i was doing the damn thing son! So we informed them Media Blends of the corrections we wanted and was told they were getting to work on a new dvd and we should receive it shortly. Of course once again we went thru the whole not able to reach them issues or even receive a call back but we sucked it up in hopes that our redone product was being worked on to our standard... IT IS NOW FEB 2013! AND WE HAVE JUST NOW GOTTEN OUR WEDDING VIDEO!! AND ITS STILL WRONG! THERE ARE NO FRONTAL SHOTS OF MY WIFE COMING DOWN THE ISLE, AND EVEN THOUGH WE SENT A LIST OF SONGS WE WANTED ON THE DVD, NONE OF THEM WERE ON THERE!. It was worse then the original. Its upsetting more so cause wifey and I worked our A** off planning for our wedding and spared no expense for what we thought was quality and now we feel shafted by the finish product...for them to have done weddings before and even be in the wedding video business they should have known about the importance of catching the bride coming down the isle! Its hard to point out the good things when that major part is missing....i am at a lost for words and desperately trying to console my wife every time she thinks or watches the video...NOT COOL!! A wedding video is a priceless time capsule you can watch over and over again that should bring memories of joy,...our wedding was really AWESOME thank God for the ability to just remember cause this dvd will be a bitter sweet memory every time we watch it due to the no frontal film of her coming down... :( Thanks Media Blends for the stress of waiting not once but TWICE for our wedding dvd and for making my wife cry TWICE both times she watched it! read more
