My previous review for Mediacom was a 3 star as my analysis at the time was based on my personal experience at that point. My reviews for tech companies is more informed than most and especially so when as it relates to the internet piece of the of the biz of internet. I'm fact, I started up one of the first Internet Service Provider services in my Tennessee computer store back in '92 and have am entering my 5th decade of all things geek related :-) That being said I have had some funky issues with their Internet for a while and had replaced them at my cottage but kept them at my townhouse because they also provided TV here. (both services have some serious issues) I will not go into the regular trials and tribulations I've endured over the last couple of years but in the last couple months they have just become ridiculous on every front and these clowns have got to go!! Closing the local office was bad enough, but they recently did some sort of audit and without notice dropped our Internet service from 600Mbps to 60Mbps, like oops! Their explanation was it was a mistake, and BTW that's true for at least 61 of my neighbors. The only option they offered was to increase my throughout to 1gb for a discount of an additional $99 a month, wait what? There's more BS issues but I have just signed up with a very reputable local company for 1gb internet and guaranteed support 24/7 365 for the same price that I'm currently paying for 60Mbps service, and so are a bunch of my neighbors. Bottom line: Down town is ridiculous, support is very limited, offices are closing all over the place, prices and price increases are stupid and the majority of the contact people are clueless. Stay clear of these guys. It is the worst kind of con. They are flashy and have the latest equipment but the reality is they are a poorly run company with deceptive business practices. When we signed up no mention was ever made off a data cap but they have one!! The penalty rates are just as ridiculous as the cap itself. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone and impossible to see your account without creating an online portal which you cannot do without talking to someone on the phone. Even after you get that done you cannot see a billing statement without a special number that is on your statement?! Wow. The entire thing is a great big circle-jerk designed to gouge you for as much as possible before you have a chance to cancel service. The 1 and 2 star reviewers are correct. Mediacom is terrible. I haven't had issues with down time, but it took them almost three weeks to bury the cable in my yard and when I got my bill, I noticed a $15.00 charge, which I was informed was for modem rental that I wasn't told about when I set up service. I was told I could buy my own but that I wouldn't get the 'deal,' which honestly isn't much of a deal anyway. Now, I'm trying to cancel my service and their phones aren't working. Chat was no help either. There are definitely better options. Stay away from Mediacom. read more

We cancelled our Mediacom internet because we found it to be a poor value. High pricing and poor reliability are not a formula for success.

Come to PBB. We just shifted our Virginia veterans to this market and they don't stand a chance. Give PBB 1 month and you'll never look back. They are here to speed up the processes and bring down the trouble calls. All visible lines going away soon. We need them left out for different steps in the final product. Not a lack of awareness. I was told they just upgraded the entire system in our condo complex. it is now worse than ever!!!! no internet and the cable is all broken pictures, cuts out more than stays on. I took my modem in for an exchange thinking it was the issue, but it's still really bad service. read more

Service was installed Sept 4, and within 10 minutes of the tech leaving, I was "connected without internet," and the problem persisted througout the night. i contacted MediaCom the next morning and the earliest date they can send someone to fix the problem is September 17, and i was informed I might have to pay for the call if I "tampered with the equipment." As if I'd sabotage my own internet access for fun. What a welcome. What's to prevent them from saying it isn't their defective equipment and charging me anyway? It seems that if my internet went out within an hour of installation and has been that way for three days now, going in and out almost hourly, they would try harder to keep me as a new customer. At this point, I'll likely cancel and go with the slower but more reliable option in my area. I didn't sign up for two years of unreliable service and awful customer service. I was very excited when I heard Mediacom was burrying cable in our neighborhood. Once it was done, I signed up for internet. It was great!! A little pricey but it was worth the high speed since I have 4 children and they can bog us down with regular dsl. We enjoyed life with Mediacom for a while. Out of nowhere they more than DOUBLED our rate!!! And like 6 different charges per month for BS service fees. Our bill went to like 300$ a month out of nowhere. They raked in mega money from my family before my wife asked what I had done to make Mediacom so expensive. This is outrageous. While families are struggling in America, these mega telecom corps are raking in record setting profits and exploiting us. I have no choice but to cancel service. Outrageous greed is killing the country and is the reason we will have to cancel service with Mediacom. If they remedy this, I'll update my review. read more

It is ridiculous to have to take a whole day off because they will only give you a window for either the morning or the afternoon and it is now 1045 and they were supposed to be here between eight and 12. I would vote 0 stars if I could. Never touch this company unless they are the only ISP in your area.(Even then I would consider seeing if you can go without internet haha) They constantly pass around your problem until someone eventually does something and it is always a terrible job. Everyone who comes to site is clueless every time. It is almost like they never take notes and share them about the current job at hand. I have been forced to use them for home and commercial internet. My home goes out (not too often, but often enough to be annoying) and the cost is not even close to the quality, they overprice some of the worst internet I have used. Not to mention ITS METERED!! It is full of people who hardly know how to do the job, and then the supervisors are always incredibly sketchy. I was ghosted by the area's head business side ISP rep. I had a contract and everything, then out of nowhere he never picks up my calls or messages. Turns out his phone works because I used another phone to get in contact! Gotcha :). Zero Stars Hacked up my Sprinkler system, To date cannot get anyone to reply about the idiot low ball contractor they hired to bury the cable. They hacked up my sprinkler system after I offered to show them where the system was. "No sir we know what we're doing no need to show us". I called, Emailed and even stopped one the "field supervisors" in my sub division dealing with another yard complaint. He took all my info and promised he would handle personally, well maybe he died that day because I've heard nothing. Finally had to go to hardware store and buy the repair fittings & dig up my yard and fix it myself. I'm not going away... small claims court is worth it now! I'm payed myself 200.00 an hour to fix it and one six pack of some great craft beer! read more

They have terrible customer service, but the bigger problem is that the service cuts out at least once a day which causes you to have to reset the modem. Avoid this company at all costs. I hate it that I have to give them any stars at all. 0 out of 5 needs to be an option. Their cable pixelates and glitches up frequently. Their internet cuts out and stops working frequently. Netflix will play for 15 minutes then start loading before it tells me the show or movie can't be watched. Then when they were supposed to come out and fix it they asked me to wait at home from 1-5pm before they didn't even call or show up. I was warned so I should not be surprised. Others told me Media Com customer service was terrible so they switched to Century Link and Direct TV. I never got past install. Installer showed up saw that cable had not been run and decided it was going to take too long. Even suggested that since he would have to fish the cables in wall he would come back after work and charge extra. Installer left and said he would return but never did. When I contacted Customer dis-service said it was too late and next install was a week later. Good bye Mediacom. read more

My oh my it's been nothing but issues with them. The Internet is constantly going out or just plain not working. I had a tech come fix the internets inability to stream anything... And he was beyond rude and left without fixing anything. They all claim it's working fine... Well if it was "working fine" I wouldn't be complaining and I'd be able to actually use it. The prices are high too for service that isn't at all reliable or useful. I've only talked to one nice person when dealing with this terrible internet provider and she's the one who signed me up in the beginning at the local office. It's truly sad when you have an issue with a service you pay for and the service provider refuses to acknowledge the issue let alone do anything about it. read more

Mediacom is terrible. Slow Internet, always goes out, phone lines always jammed up, service guys are apperntly clueless, and nothing ever gets done in a timely convenient nature. It's pretty much a monopoly in my area so I have no choice, but when I do it will not be them. read more

This is a complaint about Media Com cable customer service. Cable service was interrupted and on April 21, I spent an hour on the telephone with a service representative who was unable to restore cable service remotely. I was informed that the problem required a service call and the next available appointment was May 2. This was eleven days out which I find to be poor customer service and unacceptable. If Media Com is this busy, it needs more employes. read more

I have been without service for 2 days, no offer for refund of services that were not provided and no estimate on when services will be available again. Not a good experience on any level!
