I have had Mediacom for well over 15 years and I love them. Sure I've had some outages from time to time but that's to be expected with a huge cable network. Any time I've had installations or service the technicians have be quick and professional. Now I would like to see my bill a little lower but this is the real world and nothing is going down in cost. I have had nothing but problems with consistency in my internet service. They are my only high speed internet option in the area I live. I have had them since I moved here. I have the 1gig service but the for the first year of having them I called multiple times telling them I wasn't getting the 1gig Service I was paying for. I am very busy with my job and cannot afford to miss work to have a tech out over and over. Finally one of the days a tech came out he decided to do more checks than the previous techs and the new tech found that my mediacom router was set to the lowest service option. He corrected the issue. Since then my service speed is fine except when my service drops randomly. I have had techs out off and on and finally they ran all new lines but still same problems. The last time a tech was out he recommended get a new router but it was the end of his day and he had used up all the routers he had on his truck that day. Since I am busy I haven't had a chance to go to the local office and get it swapped out as he recommended. Also after all this I have never gotten anything to make up for all the problems but a 1 month discounted bill. Not even a free month. read more

Overpriced and many hidden fees. They actually make you pay for 7 more days of service when you want to close your account. You can get twice as much for a lot less with Comcast. I found myself staying for a few months in Fairhope AL. We were going to stay in this lovely community for longer, but sadly we can't because we depend on reliable connectivity for our company. So we're moving on to Florida, with deep regrets, because we loved the Fairhope community. Which that brings me to the point of my review - the Fairhope community: Every single resident we have met here in the last month does the exact same thing when we mention 'Mediacom'. It's an eye-roll and a look of disgust, or hate. It must be horrible to work for a company that is So Universally Hated. Unless you're Rocco Commisso pocketing a 6 billion fortune by creating local internet monopolies to take advantage of small communities who have no-one else to turn to (while posturing he does so to 'help' them - which is evil), it has to be a miserable experience to have to come to work at this company every day knowing that communities like Fairhope, Alabama hate you with a Passion. Having experienced the lack of service, lack of care and dismissive 'can't do' attitude of absolutely everyone I've connected with at Mediacom, I'm not at all surprised that the community is mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore. I'm sure that the misery and loneliness of a community that cannot connect with the world because of your company's indifference means nothing to you. Because if it did, you'd have fixed it years ago - and taken 5 minutes to address your reputation online. But you haven't. You don't even respond to upset customers here on Yelp. That is almost Unheard of. You have One staff member who has responded to One reviewer in 10 years. A 'Travis C' replied to a customer. Once. You can't even see that online, unless you check the 'filtered reviews' by clicking the 'non-recommended reviews section' at the bottom of the page here. So one reply. In 10 years. Which no-one ever saw. Yelp exists for companies like yourself. Because maybe, just maybe, as your reputation continues to tank, your shareholder value starts to tank too, and finally, at that point, shareholders begin to care just a little bit about the communities their company abuses, like the Grinch's heart growing a half-size larger, just for one moment. But until the share price tanks, the misery of the community inflicted upon them by you, means Nothing to you, does it? But what may Not mean Nothing to you is that the community is becoming organized. The opinion is - and the data supports it - that your company behaves in an awful manner because you have a Monopoly in the area. Which is not just awful. It is in fact Unlawful. Because Monopolies ARE something that communities like Fairhope CAN do something about - and that process has started. Your lawyers will be very busy in Washington DC as a result, and Rocco Commisso's net worth will slide from 6 BN, to 2BN. And when that happens, the last remaining person at your company who used to turn up to work happy, won't be. And that's a good thing. Because at that point perhaps you'll stop abusing the members of this lovely community, which we're going to have to leave: Because of you. In the meantime, if you're a business considering moving here, don't until anti-trust action has run these crooks out of town. It is rare that I come back and do a 2nd or a third review. Mediacom is a joke. I scrimped and saved all the money I possibly could during this horrendous time to finally get rid of their trashnet. My last review update was on November 11/26. First of all, the guy that was working to get money back to me for damages done to my home never answered his e-mails, voicemails, or text messages. My damages still not paid for by Mediasuck. It wasn't until Feb 23rd that I learned that Mediacom has been suckering me out of money each month. I went from Feb 23rd until this week 5/26/2020 on HOTSPOT from my cellphone provider because Mediacom wouldn't work. Doesn't work and decided that they weren't reliable for the amount of money they have ripped me off. For 183$ I get 60mbps. Oh right, let me mention that its capped. For a fraction of the money Mediacom has charged me I can get 1000mbps for way way less! They still want to charge me roughly 50$ and refuse to pay me back 183$ for disasters that and FROM THEIR COMPANY "Oh no! The requests for maint where never recieved" For nearly 8 months I've been struggling with their internet only to be told that it was never fixed from the get go. Goodbye Mediacom. Yeah they're pretty bad I was moving from the 36695 area to the 36609 area and was told I would be able to have service for his cable and internet and all I had to do was repay the remaining balance I paid the balance and come to find out they cannot provide me with service in this area which I feel like you know they were just out just to get their money you know I didn't have a problem paying the bill but you know just to say you can get that money at that time. To anyone looking to use this company don't they need a complete overhaul I will say go with Xfinity or AT&t which is better than Mediacom. read more

Unfortunately where I live Mediacom has what I would think is a monopoly on phone/internet/cable so I have no choice but to deal with the incompetence of these idiots. I do not get choice of services. If you do ...go with whoever the other company is. Mediacom sucks. Mediacom just went up on rates again! They are by far taught how to scam elderly disabled out of there money- locked in on plan for yrs. Lady called trying to tell me if I didn't switch plans go to there highest plan they would charge me every month 10.00 or more on overage use- barely going over- so they got me off my locked in rate plan kept charging me 10.00 extra assured me that it would be best for me. Knowing I'm disabled had multiple surgery on my spine- broke back- and osperpoiosis neck surgery- lied to me over over about internet- WRONG! granted I'm having live off 1000.00 month no choice of my own! The send me a box to ship my equipment back which I did on the 11/29... then on 11/3 they take $130 out of my account because they "forgot" to stop autopay. Worst reliability ever! I have their internet service and tv service. I signed up for the tv before hurricane season last year thinking it would be more reliable than satellite. How wrong! It's actually worse. Every day, every single day,multiple stations experience signal loss, audio and video. When complete signal loss occurs the internet goes as well. I never would think satellite would be more reliable since signal loss can occur whenever a cloud floats by but then I got Mediacom. I'll be changing back to sat service quickly as possible. For those who are considering Mediacom, save your money, you'll need it for anger management classes. read more

I have lived in several cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Alaska. This company is by far the very worst cable company ever and I have no other competing companies available to me, in this area. I could not get reliable internet service for the first six months of service, but that's only the beginning. They would send someone out, say they have fixed it, leave and then I had problems getting online. This happened over and over and over again. One of them came out and actually had the audacity to accuse me of stealing cable from the neighbor. As it turned out, I have two cable boxes because we have an addition to the house. They (all of them) were completely ignoring the huge cable box that was located on the very same side of the house as the other one. The jerk who made the accusation even went so far as to drill a hole through my wall right beside my front door to "rewire" it, which wasn't necessary. A FREAKING HOLE!!!! I know this wasn't necessary because when I asked him about that second box, he literally said, "That's not ours." I then asked him why it said Mediacom in HUGE FREAKING LETTERS on the box. I could actually see the blood drain from his face, but did he even apologize? No. The moron freaking drilled a hole in the wall because he didn't even bother looking at the other box!!! Then let us discuss, for a moment, how I nearly got fired because of Mediacom. I had problems again and they said they'd send a tech out on a certain day. There was no tech, he was a no show. I missed an entire day of work for that. Oh, but we're only getting started here! When I called them they assured me that the next day they would come. They didn't. I was livid when I called back again. It took them 4 freaking days... FOUR... to finally show up. I missed FOUR days of work because of these people and nearly lost my job. Then there was the problem with sending out the wrong tech person. They would send out an indoor tech, who would tell me that I needed an outdoor tech. I would call to schedule the outdoor tech, telling them that this is what the tech said that day. They would send me another freaking indoor tech. This went on several times as well. When I called the final time and I insisted that it had better be an outdoor tech, he actually said to me, "No, you need an indoor tech. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about." I then launched into a tirade. No company has ever made me so angry! I didn't cuss, but I was freaking pissed off. The service reps weren't even bothering to READ THE FREAKING HISTORY OF MY ACCOUNT, WHERE TECHS WERE LOGGING IN WHAT I REALLY NEEDED!!! Now today, here I am, once again, with a spotty connection. I had three Mediacom employees tell me that outdoor lines need replacing every 2-3 years. It's been 5. Well, 4 really if you count how long it took them to realize that you insert line A into slot A. This is something a 3-year-old would have known. I just called them and no surprise, they are sending an indoor tech, refusing (even after I spoke to the supervisor) to send me what I am requesting. That's right, the customer is NEVER right according to Mediacom's policies because they have a "protocol" to follow which doesn't include making the customer happy. If you Google my user name with the keyword "reviews", you'll see that I've written tons of reviews all over. Not once have I ever said, "don't use these people" or "don't buy it". I won't break that rule, but I am giving you fair warning here. You will be VERY sorry if you decide to go with this company. Their history is not just a one time problem. This has been going on for years. If you decide to use Mediacom, prepare for damage to your house, missed days at work and to be treated very VERY badly and disrespectfully. Waited 2 days for someone to come and install the wifi. Only to be told I install it myself. I did. Getting their service to actually work took hours of being on the phone with the company. I am now 4 hours or so into service (cannot connect more than my laptop) and now they're saying there is a service outage in my area. This is the worst experience I've had with an internet provider. Mediacom was out today because my internet was not up to par. Service tech walked in and did three speed test. The first two were dismal but the third said I was getting 30mgps and he stated my internet was working just fine. The first test was on Okley, the second test was on Googl, the third was on Xfinity guess who owns Xfinity. Being a dummy I asked why I was paying for 60mgps and thirty was just fine. His response "no body guarantees what they advertise, we promised you up to 60mgps and you are close at 30mgps" He went on to tell me my service was good enough to do anything I wanted to do. I didn't know he was a mind reader, how else would he know what I need to do. I have two internet services because I must have a connection for my job and medical care. If I could afford the only other service provider available in the area Mediacom would be a past night mare. I recommend Mediacom only if no other internet provider is available and then I wouldn't count on their service for any thing important. read more

You have NO IDEA how frustrating working with this company is!!! It took three weeks to get a date for installation, and then they show up without the tools to do the job! We waited seven hours the first day, and the next day they were late again. He still didn't have the correct tools, and once his supervisor showed up and finally got the outside line connected, they just left. They didn't bother to call and activate the modem as they were supposed to, so we did it ourselves. It worked for about ten minutes then wouldn't connect. We called back, and they determined we'd need a tech to service what they said was a bad line. Fine. The next day the awful service techs that 'installed' our service came back to collect their installation fee because they had forgotten it the previous day. My husband told the man that they hadn't done their job and the internet wouldn't connect. He shrugged and demanded the money and threatened to disconnect our service. My husband paid him and immediately contacted mediacom. After telling them the whole story, they refunded the fee and gave us a $20 credit because the technician was so late and did his job so poorly. We were satisfied with that and decided to go ahead and wait for them to repair the faulty line. Fast forward three weeks, and here I am with no internet connection. They've sent two additional repair men, and the internet will work for a couple of hours after they leave, and then disconnect repeatedly. We have not had one day of uninterrupted service. It goes down 15-20 times per day. No exaggeration. Another thing they don't tell you is that it's possible to exceed your data usage, and people like us who stream from Netflix and Amazon can go over our limit and face astronomical charges. Check your plan and data usage frequently! If you choose this company, good luck to you. We've had the worst customer service experience that I've ever received from any company. Do yourself a favor and run in the opposite direction. read more

If I could give medicom zero stars I would. I should have known at installation it was going to be a pain in the rear end. Install- guy shows up late, with no company uniform or vehicle and proceeds to try to enter my house without any ID. I had to ask him to identify himself. The television service and Internet itself were alright, channels would intermittently go out a couple times a month. However... Here's the bait and switch. They raised my bill $25.61 a month, without notification. When I called, they said it was a standard one year increase and they were unwilling to budge. So... I'm not paying $140 a month for cable and Internet, so I asked them to disconnect the cable portion and leave the Internet; which they told me was $45/ month & for me to call back closer to the end of my billing cycle (ended on the 23rd, so was advised to call on the 21st) So I did just that, and they tried to say they needed 7 day notice and that only the Internet would be $70/ month plus taxes and fees. Nope. So I rage quit all mediacom service. Here's the funny part: as I'm turning in my equipment; they call me to offer a "new discounted" price. No mediacom. It's not worth it to deal with your horrific customer service. Never. Again. Buyer beware. read more

Just as we settled in to watch our favorite football game, our service went out. After 2 hours on phone, nothing was resolved!! We were disconnected 5 times!! "It started back on July 18th, 2014. I called to terminate ALL service with cable company mediacom. I WAS in a 2 year contract which expired on July 13th 2014 and I had received the bill to pay FOR SERVICE TO COME FOR THE MONTH of August (it says that on my bill). The representative got rude with me when I called to disconnect service, telling me I have to give them a 10 day notice to terminate service,,,, (When I had called a month or so prior and asked for date on which my contract would be up so I could explore other alternatives, as they were charging more and more every month for the past few month and taking away channels, programming, regularly at that time, the customer service rep I talked to told me to wait til after the date to call in to disconnect service but before my next bill was due), I have never seen any information about it in anything, look for yourself, it isn't even in their TOS or received anything in the mail about it, (I have all my information and bills since I got the service) I looked it up extensively, I expressed how tired and just mentally drained with dealing with them I have been, and for a while and please turn all services off, I no longer want to do business with mediacom! Internet and cable tv always going out, I lost a work at home job because my cable went out a lot while I would be in the middle of taking calls as a customer service rep myself. You call mediacom to set up appointments for a technician to come out in the past year no one has ever showed up, even tho I waited many days on them at home all day! You call and are automatically in some automated system and can not even speak with a representative, now that ones just dirty! Every time I wanted to get into my email account with them I had to call because they always locked me out of my own account (I always keep track of usernames/passwords, and mediacom rep would always feed me some excuse of updates), talked to me like I was stupid, so I hung up on her, I tried going online to chat with a representative and after about an hour of trying, didn't get anyone to chat, so I called again, got another more "appearing to be" an accommodating representative who explained to me about bringing in the equipment and that I had to pay $78.33, for what? I do not know, (actually if they turned it off when I asked them to they should have owed me money), as the bill is for what your going to use, not what you've used, but I paid it with a credit card just to be through with it and brought the equipment in July 21, 2014 and the office representative told me right then that the service had been turned off that morning,(but it hadn't been turned off, I found out when I got home) I have the dated receipts, phone log and can prove everything I am telling you! So then I get a bill from them for $215.09, and it says on this bill to terminate service I have to give them a 7 day notice, please keep in mind, this 10 day, 7 day notice was never revealed 10 day or 7 day from WHEN/WHAT!! I got so upset and emailing letting Everyone know, I have tried everything I can think of and in my research they do this to many others and continue to bill them even tho you want the service totally disconnected and if you do not pay, turn it over to a collection agency, now I am not a lawyer but even I know this has to be illegal some how, but regardless of that, if you see my documentation I've kept, it really just doesn't make sense how they can be doing this, and I did not know how to get them to just turn the service off they were not listening to me, doing what I wanted, and they blatantly lied to me over and over, please if you can help me or know someone who can please contact me by email/message any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!" read more

Some of the worst customer service and technicians I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. We had a lighting strike the power pole the cable runs from the other day. It fried the modem and a few other things. Well we hooked an old modem, that had been giving us problems since it was new, up because we have a disabled veteran who can't do anything but games on the computer. We called em they said they'd send a technician out with THE SAME model modem that got fried by lightning and replace it. We gave them model numbers and everything. So fast forward a few days and the technician gets here. First he's rude when he first walks up and doesn't day anything except I'm showing yall have internet. We explained he was like well, Let me look. Walks in looks at the modem and says there's nothing wrong with it why don't you want to keep it? Well only one computer will work with it we need another one of these that's compatible with all of the computers in the house. Well we don't carry those. We got it from yall. Well those aren't on our trucks. We said well they were supposed to send one with you. Well we don't carry those. I said fine. He said well do you want me to hook it up or not? You can go to a walk in place and see if they have that ine. We asked where they were. He told us one. We asked if they dont have it there then where else can we go? Hes like i know where they are duh. Excuse me we just asked a question. I say to him never mind. We don't need a sarcastic answer to a question we will call and deal with a higher up. So he takes the old router that was shit out and is outside in his van. Comes back in hooks up the router and puts a one into 3 line splitter RIGHT BEHIND THE MODEM. There's no purpose to that and it slows the internet down. One of their own technicians told us this in the past. And come to find out it was the same router we had before he showed up that he hooked back up. I know because I marked the old router so it wasn't thrown away.. so he came out, didn't test any lines, didn't replace anything and hooked up the same shit that was here not working already and actually left our system running worse. So we call customer service and they contact the local dispatch and then come back and say well he did his job and we will mail you a router. If it's not the same one then you'll have to find one in your area. I'm sorry but we pay for this service... your supposed to do your best at keeping it running and doing your job and you failed. This is inexcusable. And to habe a sarcastic technician that had an attitude the entire time and doesn't know how to do his job and then to say well he did his job? Nope. As soon as we get a new provider lined up we will cancel this account and make sure no one ever gets them again. Mediacom is the absolute worst company. read more
