I fell and broke my ankle while walking on my college campus last September 2022 and needed surgery if I ever wanted to walk again. As soon as I arrived to Medical City's ER in Denton I was immediately met with probably the rudest group of staff members I have ever encountered in my entire life. The front desk receptionist (I'd say in her mid 40's to 50's) was extremely rude to me as soon as I walked in. She had an attitude the entire time and acted as if she was mad or annoyed at me for "bothering" her with my injury. The nurse (mid 20's to early 30's with dirty blonde/brown hair) who checked me in/started triage was EVEN RUDER than the front desk lady, which I honestly didn't think was possible. She also acted as if she was annoyed at me coming in and "bothering" her, as if this isn't her job that she went through years of school for and CHOSE to do. I was in severe pain as I had just suffered a very bad break and obviously wasn't able to walk. Before I left the ER, the nurse gave me crutches to use to get around until the day of my surgery the next week. I have never had to use crutches up until then as this was my first time ever breaking a bone. I immediately had trouble using the crutches and lost my balance while trying to walk. The nurse told me to stand up and try to walk with them and then walked away to do something. As soon as I took my first step I immediately lost my balance and fell. The ONLY reason why I didn't fall all the way to the ground was because my boyfriend was able to catch me at the last minute. When this happened the front desk lady turned around and very angrily SCREAMED "YOU NEED TO GET UP AND BE MORE CAREFUL RIGHT NOW!!!". This was pretty much my breaking point with this ER as I OBVIOUSLY was being careful and would not just choose to fall on purpose. It's absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary to SCREAM at a person for not being able to use crutches after just suffering a severe ankle break. The last thing you want to deal when you are at your worst are rude staff members. These 2 women made my experience so miserable that I now refuse to ever go back to Medical City's ER in Denton when it used to be my go to ER for years. If you need to go to an ER I recommend going to a stand alone ER or just any ER other than Medical City's ER in Denton. I have had great experiences with other stand alone ER's located throughout the Denton/Flower Mound area. Despite this, I do want to mention one of the male staff members in particular. He was the X-ray technician (male, probably in his mid 20's to early 30's) and was the best ever. He was so so kind to me and just absolutely wonderful the entire time. He definitely made my shitty experience with the nurse and receptionist a little bit better and just my injury in general. read more

On some days they are great . But this last trip it was awful. I broke my ankle at work and my boss took me to the ER. The Dr comes in yanks my sock off my foot sending me into a crying fit, they took X-rays looked at me and said " just a bad Sprain here is some crutches, ace wrap and you can go " called my workers comp people and they send me to another Dr and my ankle was broken in 2 places. read more

Micheal DeSandro PA Supplied me absolutely terrible service! I went to the ER with extreme back and leg pain. The ER doctor didn't even listen to me when I described my pain. His professional opinion was to hang from a bar like a monkey to stretch out my spine and take a hot shower. He gave me one pain pill and a prescription. When I asked if we could do an X-ray or MRI, he said no because "nothing is broken." Fast forward One weeks to a real doctor, and they found two masses--one on my spine and another on my kidney. I would have expected better treatment, especially since no one else was in the ER. Within 15 minutes, I was in and out, but they made sure to get payment before I could even step out of the ER. I've called the hospital several times to discuss the bill and my treatment, but no one will return my calls. I even contacted the Patient Advocate Department, and still, no response. The medical profession needs to do better. Listen to your patients. Don't just collect the co-pay and push them out the door. Filling a patient full of pain meds is not medical treatment! ER: Clean, friendly and relatively expedient, (not busy) but some fundamental inaccuracy concerns me: entered my name incorrectly in the system which caused delays and confusion with followup physicians. asked me about vitals (height, weight, etc) but then entered them incorrectly into the system. (still there). patient copy of injury docs are so vague and generalized that they are worthless. A better, more thorough description is online but 24hours later and no x-rays available. Just don't feel secure in their competency, like they don't have me covered. Could sadly be the state of healthcare in the US. read more

Well, back to the ED again with Hubs - this time cellulitis of the arm - moving quickly up the arm - were taken right in - seen right away ( they were already busy) he had his x-rays, ultrasound and lab work done, IV antibiotics given - Doc sent us home with oral antibiotics, everything was great - they have the BEST nurses and Staff!!! As you look around you can tell they do love what they do!! Thank you all!!!! read more

My mother died May 28, 2025. My mother arrived the day before. The ER staff was outstanding. They were very informative and very direct. My mother suffered a "catastrophic" brain hemorrhage. When they moved her from the ER to the ICU.... the ICU staff was EXCELLENT! Lindsey was caring and very helpful. The next day our family opted to cease life support. They pulled the intubation tube. Now for the negative review: When they pulled the intubation tube my mother continued to breathe on her own. They moved her to the 4th floor. It was like checking out of a 5 star Hilton hotel and checking in to a Motel 6. The rooms were different.....both in appearance and cleanliness. The staff was different....way different. My mother let out a long gasping sigh...and stopped breathing. I went to the nurses station and asked for help. A nurse - Nike - followed me to the room. Nike checked her pulse at her wrist, her inner elbow....her wrist again...checked her other arm.... held two fingers to my mother's mouth and finally said, "She still has a pulse" while pointing to a bobbing vein near the IV portal. She left the room. Dumbfounded, we stared at the vein for a few minutes...and eventually...it also stopped moving. I rushed back to the nurses station...frantic...and said I think my mother died. Nike comes into the room....does the whole feel the wrist, elbow, other wrist, elbow again....until a wonderful nurse Kathy enters the room. She asked if we needed anything....and...almost in tears I said I think my mother died. Nike was still fumbling....when ...Kathy checks my mother. She said she doesn't feel a pulse. She asked Nike if she had her stethoscope.. Nike said it was at the station....that she was calling the doctor. Kathy INSISTED she get her stethoscope.... Nike left, came back in ....used the scope to check my mother's wrist, chest, wrist, other side of her chest....a little lower on her chest.... and finally ...after what seemed like an eternity.... removes the stethoscope....and without a word... reaches into her pocket and opens an alcohol packet....cleans the stethoscope ear buds and.... silently hands the stethoscope to Kathy. Kathy does a quick check and says my mother passed.... My mother passed away May 28th. It is June 19th and my heart still races thinking about Nike and her ineptness, lack of concern, and almost defiant reaction to being checked by her peer - Kathy. The ER staff was top notch! The ICU staff was better than top notch! Nike on the fourth floor..... nothing but bad feelings and disdain .... especially that floor knowing why my mother was being sent there.... in all reality.... a death watch. I went here was told my hcg levels went from low to 0 within a week and they wouldn't do an ultrasound but yet my hcg levels before were at a 1 when they did an ultrasound and i was 4-5 weeks pregnant. I do not recommend this hospital at all read more

Went in ambulance for spine broke 3 places could not get the doctor to send home any pain meds they know the pain was excruciating and can barely handle the pain and they refuse to send pain meds. They sent a muscle relaxer. Blood sugar has been 300 plus they oudnt give higher dose insulin to bring it down they suck then when asking for pain meds they act like we want to get high which isn't the case at all its ridiculous read more

Spent over 30 years in the Medical Industry doing various things and at one time was the co-owner and practice manager for a practice. Honestly shocked regarding what seeming is poor organization and sloppy training of the staff. Almost felt like I was watching an old time silent movie where the flat bed truck loaded with people stops, they all get off and run circles around the truck, they try and get on, the truck leaves and half fall off. There were things that were good, and there were things: " you got to be kidding me." Without writing a book and describing detail, it was not my best experience nor do I have a good impression. In the beginning of my career, as a surgical rep I have probably been in almost every hospital in N. Texas and OK. I have zero intent of walking though their door again. This was my first time at this hospital. I had to have surgery and I was there for taking to the day surgery unit. I must say everybody there was so nice and so professional and so caring. I called and asked about Medicaid and the person I spoke to was very kind and to the point and offered me over the phone consultation as to not waste my time. Once I went in just to get tested for covid everyone of the staff working were very kind and listened to what was going on. The nurse who helped me was named Ally and after noticing something was off about me she took the time to get on my level and talk to me about what was happening. I've been homeless a few times and was having problems at my new place with my roommates. She brought me tissues and a blanket and stayed with me while I cried even though I could tell how busy she was. I wish zero stars was an option! I have been here over 8 hours on a transfer from a different Emergency care clinic. I was taken in by my nurse on the 5th floor, Lacy, she was very friendly and eventually apologetic for the lack of care that I was receiving. The specialist if you can call him that, which I was told that I would see when I got to my room, and then the charge nurse just now tells me that the specialist doctors are usually not seen until the next day! Get your stuff together!! I am reporting this instance to the state medical board and my insurance company, because all that I received in 8 hours was 2 IV bags, some insulin, and 3 cups of ice chips. I checked myself out against doctor's orders, which is laughable since I never saw him and probably had a nice dinner with his family while I was laid up in hospital starving. I would abandon attempts to collect on any outstanding balance owed, because I am a stone throw from reporting your Hospital to the State of Texas Medical review board for unethical treatment of patients and billing practices! read more

I am leaving 2 stars because the nursing staff here is friendly and effective, but the quality of this place stops there. My elderly father was admitted for fluid build-up in his abdomen and for blood in his urine, and the doctors here treated his symptoms, didn't define the root cause, and discharged him to a rehab facility without notifying his family before doing so. Since the rehab couldn't treat him he ended up back at this hospital, but they again discharged him too early and never identified nor resolved the issues. Also, their elevator has been broken for months so plan some wait time to get anywhere beyond the 1st floor. Save yourself some grief and do not end up here if you can help it. My dad is now at Presbyterian Denton, a MUCH better place. read more

Would you like to know why people have no faith in our healthcare community? I'm a nurse and I have ZERO faith in anyone myself. I went to medical city Denton because they have an excellent reputation with their EV lab. I had hip surgery and went to work the following week. 3 weeks post op on a Friday, my foot became dusky and cold, with a cap refill of greater than 6 seconds. I sought care by this facility the following after monitoring myself for approximately 12 hours and restarted aspirin. I went in to the ED at Denton. The triage nurses took me straight back stating they could see the significant color change while standing. Of course they always get vital signs first which where approximately 190/110 with also some tachycardia. From there the visit was over. I showed my home videos of refill. Then someone came and said not to do anything else. Not a single study done. No labs, no scan, no ultrasound. I DIDN'T EVEN CHANGE MY CLOTHES. The ED physician came in. Idiotically stated my brace was too tight. I've lost 7 pounds while in it and it barely fits. I'm not a moron. I know how to place a brace to avoid vascular compromise. He sent me out. The registration part took the longest. I had to wait for that to be discharged. The majority of that was an oral consultation for fillers after I told the registrar where I worked. Is that worth my $500 copay? Oh still no answers, a note that says I can go back to work Monday with a purple foot, and to follow up with my OB/GYN instead of my Ortho Surgeon. I was having heart palpitations and chest pain and went to the emergency room, as soon as I told the lady at the front desk she brought me to a room right away and the hooked me up to the ekg, and the vitals machine. My blood was taken and the guy did such a great job I could barely feel it. Everyone was so friendly and I was in and about in about an hour with 4 different tests done. Unfortunately, I recently had a family member spend over 2 weeks at Medical City, Denton. About half that time was in the ICU, and half in a regular room. I visited her every single day she was there, and having spent that much time there, I feel I have a pretty good feel for the hospital and its staff. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. In both the ICU and the regular floor, the nurses, doctors, and all staff were exceptional. I always felt that they actually cared about the patient and they were doing all they could for her to make her well physically, and to make her as comfortable as possible. I strongly believe that our health care professionals, especially in these trying times, are unsung heroes. Thanks to all of their work and dedication, I'm happy to say my family member is making a full recovery. I will be forever grateful to everyone at Medical City for this. It's weird leaving a review for a hospital, because nobody ever wants to go to a hospital, or have a loved one go to one. But if you ever need to go to a hospital, and you have a choice, I would highly recommend Medical City, Denton. read more

Down right negligent treatment. I'm in the worst pain I've experienced in my entire life, constant unbearable 24/7 pain for over a week now. CT confirmed I have a herniated disc and severe sciatic nerve pain. Went into the ER twice now drenched in cold sweats, physically shaking with pain, and was sent packing with nothing more than glorified Tylenol. Doctors were incredibly dismissive, exiting my station before I could even get in a word. I feel I'm at a physical breaking point and their indifference couldn't possibly be clearer. read more

ent in with extreme abdominal pain and throwing up. got into a room quickly, but the doctors were only addressing the throwing up, and not my pain (which was the main issue). they gave me a cat scan but no ultrasounds or sonograms. they ended up saying i had a stomach bug and gave me medication for that. ended up having to go to a different er the very next day with the same issues, then was told there i had an ovarian cyst that had ruptured and that's what was causing all the pain AND throwing up. will NEVER be back to this hospital again. read more

I am giving 5 stars for a few reasons. The main one is the nurses. From the ER to the general rooms to the ICU. Top notch care from the nurses. The situations in which I have been there are not with me as the patient, but someone close to me. However, I have to say Medical City Denton's Rapid Response Team and ICU team are amazing. They treat their patients with respect, do what needs to be done to give phenomenal care, and make sure the family is included and knowledgeable. The ICU and critical care team are to be applauded. While my family member was in the ICU, patients families gather in the waiting room and often talk. I never heard one person say anything but the amazing care their family member and/or friend received in the ICU at Medical City. Once my family member was down in a general room, the nurses are incredibly busy (higher patient to nurse ratio), but still very attentive. One of my family member's nurses (whom she had for three nights), came down to check on her because she was the one able to help calm the panic attacks. She didn't have to go out of her way, but she did. The doctors were also very good in the ICU, but especially in the ER and ICU, as were the physical therapists. The general room doctor wasn't bad but not anything to brag about. The respiratory therapists in the progressive unit and ICU were great. However, the ones in the general rooms were nice, but would often contradict the RNs and doctors. Overall, this is the best rapid response, ER, and ICU I have seen. read more

I wish to recognize Ms. Kristyn Sutton, Director of Patient Access at Medical city Denton (MCD). Medical City has always been a premier provider of health services to our community. Recently, I had several billing issues regarding questions of whether my insurance had paid for my treatments. Aetna, my provider, had records of payments and check numbers, but MCD HQ offices disputed receiving the payments despite cancelled checks and several 3 way phone conversation with MCD corporate finance offices and Aetna. This turned into what was about to become a legal entanglement...which I did not want to pursue...I just wanted it resolved. I spent hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue. As a last ditch effort , I went directly to MCD and was put in touch with Ms, Sutton. We sat in her office and I explained the entire problem with documentation in hand...within 2 hours all the issues went away and the problem turned out to be a coding issue at MCDs home offices. Without Ms. Suttons and her professional attentiveness, this whole matter could have been a legal issue with the associate saber rattling, which was not needed and could have escalated. Sometimes call center personnel, who must maintain a ridged script, combined with threatening collection letters, just make matters worse and then all communications fail. Hats off to Ms. Sutton...OUTSTANDONG PERFORMANCE AND THANK YOU! read more

A family member and I had come into the emergency room this morning for her having severe stabbing pains. And while everyone else was very sweet (which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars, otherwise this experience was 1 star), the nurse was absolutely terrible. She put the IV in, blood gushed everywhere. All over the patient's arm, the bed, the floor. Next, we were waiting for pain meds. Understandably, they were controlled and would take a minute to get to us. However, she was in excruciating pain, bawling, rolling around, hyperventilating, and the nurse had a terrible attitude. Instead of saying "I do apologize, I'm working on getting meds for you as quickly as possible. Is there anything else you need in the meantime?" or something helpful, she said, "Well, I have to walk across the hospital to get it so you'll have to wait like 10-15 minutes" And when the patient said "I don't know if I can wait that long, I feel like I'm going to pass out," her response was, "Good thing youre in a bed so it doesn't matter if you pass out, you can't go anywhere." At the end of the ER trip, the nurse gave the patient some meds and said we'll keep you here another 15 minutes to make sure you don't have a reaction to them. 30 minutes later she comes back and the patient asks her to please discard the vomit bag and that she had thrown it up immediately. The nurse quite literally did not even acknowledge she said anything, so I took the bag from her and threw it away. As we were leaving, she just says "Okay, you're good to go," and left the room. We walked out aimlessly, having no idea how to get back to the lobby. Thankfully, another staff member helped us to the exit. I think some people don't realize that compassion and kindness are part of the job in the medical field. It was very disappointing, we both left upset. Even if most the staff are amazing, the thought of having someone like that take care of me when I'm not in good health is enough for me to make the drive to another hospital rather than returning here. read more

I tested positive for COVID! Was not feeling any better. Walked in to the hospital and I was quick priority. Staff was great and quick to get me help. I'm in ICU getting the help and treatment that I need. Nursing staff and Dr. have been checking on me and making sure my breathing is doing great seeing improvement. This is not a joke so many people say it's a hoax a lie but COVID is out there. read more

Had a planned biopsy. The preregistration financial call was a joke. The woman was completely wrong. I ended up owing far more, so I don't think they really called the insurance. And it was a waste of time...20 minutes of giving them info and when I checked in, I had to do it all again. Kudos to the great staff on the 4th floor of Medical City Denton. Their jobs are extremely difficult yet I never saw a nurse or any medical personnel with bad attitudes or condescending natures. They came when I buzzed, made me feel like I was important to them, and were very compassionate and caring. The nurses made fun of me, falsified my medical records, disorganized my medical records, did not inform me of health issues that I also had that they found when I was there for Covid and pneumonia. These ED nurses must hate their jobs and the patients and should not be working there. Also if you arrive by ambulance and don't have a ride home, don't you DARE make a phone call from your room to family about getting home because the ED nurses will send in a security guard ALONE into your room hurt you. Thankfully, I caught what he did to me on 911 audio that I have a copy of when I called for help from him. I had to call for police to help me from the security guard. Horrible ED nurses that were supposed to be in charge of my CARE. If you happen to be unfortunate to go here be SURE to get a copy of your medical records and your bill to your insurance! I came in on the 30th to get some abdominal pain checked out, three people came in and started taking my vitals, urine, etc. and this other nurse or dr was feeling around my arm to look for a good IV entrance but had to stop a few times to make sure it wasn't a tendon. After putting the needle in, he continues to moves around a bit because he can't find it. He finally gets it in and leaves it there for a while, I was very uncomfortable. A doctor came in to check for any tenderness and I clearly showed signed off it, but they pushed it off, gave me water, asked me if I was able to hold it down, and then had me stay there for hours for them to come and tell me that they are sending me home without any kind of sonogram or ultrasound ?????? A joke of a hospital. A waste of time. A waste of money. Laziest motherfuckers out here. read more
