I love that there are a variety of specialists in the office as well as my General Doctor, Dr. Freida Millhouse-Jones (Who is Awesome!)! Of course, Dr. Millhouse Jones is so knowledgeable, patient, thorough, insightful, and personable that each time I visit, it increases my trust in her very skilled abilities as my physician (which is very difficult to find these days). Dr. Scott Kleber is unfortunately a subpar doctor. He doesn't listen, rushes the appointment, has an arrogant demeanor, and is very unfriendly, a bully, and odd. He doesn't follow up with a review of test results. He double-charged the insurance company and me and refused to explain why. Beware at all costs. He simply doesn't give a darn. I would give him a '0' if the system allowed. I had to turn to another doctor, who was shocked by Kleber's inattention and lack of care. read more

Good location, construction traffic is annoying but that's everywhere! My internist Dr. Kara Pepper, The best Internet so I know! Sadly she is leaving the practice! The facility here has its challenges the one star rating it's because I waited over an hour because the reception even though I checked many times and said had said that I was checked in the back office where the doctor was never received the check in! I was directed to speak with The office manager Rose ! This is the third time this is happened to me! The office is in Midtown they do discount your parking so that you pay no more than five dollars! Which eases the pain of the outrageous parking cost! I do feel however that waiting over an hour to be seen by any physician is really quite annoying! I never know if it's because the physician's support staff is often behind, oh yeah it's just not a organized practice. I'm sure it's not reflective of Dr. Pepper's abilities! They do online check in through your phone app. But unfortunately for the last three appointments it has not saved my pre-checking in when I announce that I already checked in they cannot find that pre-check in information! I will in the future schedule my visits to the Sandy Springs location because this location definitely does not have its act together! read more

My personal opinion is that they should transition from providing medical care to being a circus because this place is a joke. It is seemingly impossible to get an appointment. I have been a long time patient. I had a major health challenge and was told by this organization to go to the emergency room. They said that they could not see me until I first went to the emergency room. I went immediately and was admitted. My critical care team instructed me to see my GP upon my discharge. The appointment was supposed to be expedited because of my condition. I called to make that appointment and that is when reindeer games started. I cant see anyone for almost a 1 1/2 weeks and even then it will be a nurse PA. They can't refer me to another dr in the practice timely because l would have to be considered a new patient. I had another family member who needed an appt to be referred for surgery. They were denied a current patient appt because their last appointment was too far in the past even though their appt was canceled due to a shooting at the midtown facility. This review is being written because this is a common occurrence, including ridiculously long wait times. In my opinion there is absolute no reassurance that patient care is of any importance. It's like the inmates are running the prison while the guards are at the beach. read more

My doctor retired several years ago- he was great and I would've given this place a 5. My experience since has been awful. The doctor I ended up with completely missed a golf ball size growth on my arm. Tried to switch to someone else and they said I had to not see a doctor for 2 years. Who does that? Its negligence. Sad state of affairs and I started w them in 2002. That's how they treat their patients. When I switched they then told me I'd have to wait 2-3 months for an appointment. I do understand that some folks don't like this practice. I have been a patient for more than 20 years and have had mostly good experiences. My doctor (Dr. Ghosh) is very responsive and his staff have been excellent caregivers as well. I have had an issue with my appointment being canceled with the rheumatologist and now have numerous billing issues. In all fairness though I recently found out the billing problems were because of my insurance not covering certain things. I do like the online check-in but I'm not a huge fan of the patient portal. It's somewhat antiquated and not terribly user friendly. The practice is definitely 5 stars -- I would highly recommend this practice. read more

I used Laureate in Sandy Springs for my sleep apnea. Took months to get an appointment. Months and several emails to get a cpap. I was contacted via text every few months about cpap supplies like filters, hoses, etc. through their supplier Resmed. Resmed contacts you as a reminder and you go through Laureate to place the order. Only thing is Laureate never contacted me to make arrangements. I went almost a year before they called and collected payment for supplies. They charged my insurance nearly $500. That was over a month and an half ago. I was told I would get my equipment in 7-10 days. I have received no supplies. I've asked for a refund of my payment and the insurance payment 3 or 4 times. Nothing. So, I've been a year without supplies that you are supposed to get monthly (or every 3 months?). I do not recommend them for anything. read more

Let's face it -- if you're going to the doctor, you're generally more likely to be upset or in a bad mood, which may explain why Laureate Medical Group has such a low rating. But I'm here to tell you that this practice is great, and if you're looking for a professional and kind doctor, you're in the right place. I was recommended Laureate by a family friend, and have been really happy with the service. I love the location in Midtown -- the office is easy to reach and parking is a breeze. The lobby is always well-maintained and I've felt safe going in during COVID. My doctor and all the nursing staff have always been very thorough, clear in their explanations, and never judgmental. I've been going to this group for years and have finally given up due to the non-stop over billing. Regardless of whether you self pay or submit an insurance claim you will be billed additional after the fact. You can contact them until you're blue in the face, but they will rarely provide a reasonable answer for the additional bills. They may lower it a bit, but still will provide no answers. read more

Laureate has grown from a highly respected Atlanta medical practice into a massive sausage machine. Patients are in the service of the machine, not the other way around. After eight years, I have finally had enough of Laureate's poor communication, billing screwups, refusal to share test results with patients (who are the owner of these results per HIPPAA) and doctors who simply check off a list, don't actually listen to patients and are especially condescending and oblivious to the humanity of older patients. Stay away from this practice. Even if your doctor is talented and dedicated, he or she will be broken down by this system. The newer hires are inexperienced with mediocre resumes. read more

I have been a patient of laureate for many many years. Dr. Scott Kleber is a great doctor and has always been very quick to respond to any issue or message I send him. Today, I called with for a sick visit, because, ya know, a patient should be able to see their doctor when sick. I was told Dr. Kleber had no availability, but that was not an issue, as I understand doctors are very busy sometimes, but usually you can get in to see another doctor or PA. The scheduler asked me if I would like that option. I said yes. She then says, oh I'm sorry there was only an appointment available an hour ago and not another one until November 27th. Today is November 1st. On what planet does it make sense to see a doctor for a sick visit a month later, and why would I stay with a practice that cannot accommodate a visit for such a long time. Partially as a result of my inability to obtain an appointment to see my doctor, I was taken to the ER as a result of chest pains. Had follow-up with Dr. Ghosh and he is great. He asked me to set up a follow-up appointment in about four weeks but I was again told by scheduler that no appointment is available with Doctor Ghosh until a later date. In my opinion, Laureate's office manager needs to be fired, and office staff need to be sensitive to patient needs and doctor directives. Went for the first time to get a physical i am 19. Doctor did not address any of my concerns - could not answer simple questions, referred me to every various doctor besides the one I was at. Was left in the room for 15+ mins after doctor examination and went to go ask nurses at the desk about what I was doing. Was laughed at when asked - was told I had blood to give without any notice from the doctor- I was treated horribly by the nurses which made me uncomfortable giving "3 vary big vials and one small vial" of blood. I've been a patient of Laureate for approximately 15 years. My doctor is wonderful, but the "corporation" or whatever this organization is has become a nightmare. You have to wait at least 3 or 4 months for an appointment. Then they give you a 15 minute window, and cancel your appointment if you're 16 minutes late, even though they've moved to a part of town that is VERY crowded and difficult to navigate. I had an appointment today at 3:30, was having trouble getting there, called at 3:28 to tell them I was in the area, had several text exchanges with them over the next few minutes -- so they knew I was very close and trying to get there, and they STILL cancelled my appointment. I am a patient at a different location, but was in Midtown and called to be seen one morning this week. I was scheduled same-day with a nurse practitioner, Lori Shapiro, and she was thorough, took time to answer any questions I had, and was professional and friendly. Laureate Midtown had my records in their system and could easily compare labs, etc. The front desk was friendly and I liked their check-in, using a tablet instead of a clip board with numerous sheets of paper. Everyone who knows me understands that I rarely write one-star reviews. In this case, I appeared for medical testing as scheduled, but due to an error in their administering of the medication (not critical, but scary) I had to be recheduled a week later for further testing. When I returned, the doctor took personal offense because I questioned his procedures. That, coupled with other avoidable administrative errors, created an experience that was not something I'd willingly repeat. I have been going to this doctor office for 5 years. However, my recent doctor's visit will be my last. The billing office was very unprofessional. Every year my job changes my health insurance. So naturally, I would check to see if my doctor at Laureate accepts my insurance. I checked online before my policy began because if your health provider was not in network there was some paper that need to be submitted. My doctor was listed as an in-network health provider. That was around early December. My first doctors visit for this year was in August because I was experiencing vertigo. Before my visit, I called to the doctor office to verify my insurance information and the copay. The next day, I checked in for my appointment and pay a copay before seeing the doctor. 2 weeks later, I was feeling worse. Went back followed same procedure. Almost 3 months later I get a call from the doctor billing department that they never accepted my insurance and I will have to pay every thing in full. I asked why was I not informed about this before going to the doctor. Their response was "coverage was not guaranteed at the time of your visit". THAT MAKES NO SENSE. The billing officer started out saying the doctor never accepted my insurance. By the way, I called my insurance company and found out the contract between my doctor and the insurance company expired January 6, 2012. I did not receive any mail or phone call. read more

Switching Physicians is never a fun thing to do. But this practice, so far at least, has been great. I recently switched Insurance from BCBS PPO to BCBS POS...and my primary care physician, Dr. Scott Parry was no longer in my network...So I went on the search. After calling lots of offices, and having a check up with a different practice (I liked it fine enough, just had some issues with insurance), I called Laureate Medical group and asked for a same day appointment. Now this was weird because I actually had a physical scheduled with the doctor that I had Insurance issues with...but Laureate nurses worked some magic, and got me in the same day for a physical with Dr. Ghosh. Dr. Ghosh was great. He was friendly, efficient, and personable. This leads me to the arrival. I arrive on time, and I'm greeted with a friendly receptionist, and given a swanky iPad to fill out all my "paperwork" (?). I was called back quickly, the nurse did her vitals (she was crazy nice too), and the doctor came in. He spent a bunch of time with me, did his exam-thingy, ordered blood tests, and recommended I get my Pneumonia vaccine, which I had already knew I wanted to get. They quickly drew my blood, did an EKG (part of my physical which was cool), gave me my vaccine, and doctor came again to read the EKG, refill my scripts, and end the visit. I was ushered to the check out line, was told my physical was covered at 100 percent, then a follow up for 4 months was scheduled. Perfect. The only bad thing is that the parking is in the Emory Midtown Hospital deck, so it is a pay lot, and they don't validate parking. read more

I like Laureate Medical Group. Granted I've only been going to them for a few years (prior to this I was still living in St. Louis and my general physician was based there), but so far so good. When I initially started, I went to the Alpharetta office as it was closest to my office, but when I changed jobs to an office in Midtown, I made an appointment with the office located at Emory Hospital in Midtown. I called to schedule a yearly check up and learned my doctor didn't service the midtown location, however, there were two other female GPs who did work there. With no problem at all, the coordinator helped me switch doctors and make an appointment about three weeks out. I remember on both visits, Laureate's very state-of-the-art when it comes to patients offering tablets to check in on, an online patient portal that's actually ease to use and digital forms of communication (like secure emails) to deliver test results much quicker than older methods like phone calls or regular mail. Aside from waiting for 10 - 15 minutes after I arrived to be signed in and taken back to meet my doctor, everything went very smoothly at the Laureate Midtown location. That day I saw Dr. Gandy - very nice lady, who went over my family history, if anything had changed medically, etc., etc. Then I had every test possible run, and my results actually came back super-fast - my doctor emailed me that night, in fact, with the results (all of which were stellar). The nurse had trouble finding a vein in my right arm to draw blood from, but even after she stuck me in both arms to get samples, I was still bruise free afterwards (a rarity for me, who bruises like a peach all the time). All in all, I was in and out in less than an hour and a half, and although I had to fast until after noon, it was an okay experience considering. Dr. Gandy even gave me a recommendation for a dermatologist to go see for yearly checkups since my skin is so fair and skin cancer could be a real risk no matter how religious I am about sunscreen. If you're in the market for a female general practitioner (harder to find than you might think), I would highly recommend Dr. Gandy and Laureate Medical Group. read more

Been going here for over a decade, and I've never had a single issue with billing staff or doctors. I like Laureate because they are a very modern office with efficient digital medical records-- for example, you check in on an iPad, a process that takes way less time than typical paperwork. They also make good use of PAs and NPs, which help with quick scheduling of appointments (they can schedule you for a next-day appointment without issue usually as long as you don't mind seeing a PA/NP, which you shouldn't because their expertise and training is excellent for nearly all medical matters). My only complaint is that you have to pay for parking because they are located at Emory Midtown, but it's not outrageously expensive for Midtown parking ($6 per day max). read more

I always book first of day appointments and never have to wait more than 5-10 minutes before I'm seen. I haven't felt this well taken care of since I arrived in Atlanta. I see 3 doctors, primary care, Dr. Scott Shulman, sleep doctor, Dr. Scott Liebowitz and Dr. Gavin Brown for headaches. They are all accessible via the patient portal, and very responsive. Plus, when I see them, I feel like I am the only patient they have to attend to that day. Because they found something during the physical, they coded it so that it wasn't covered and they charged me an additional $340. My insurance company has told them twice that routine physicals are covered and they needed to resubmit with the correct codes...but they won't do it. Nothing but problems with this group in Holly Springs. It starts with the appointment (if you can get one) Tried to get a physical appointment and couldn't even get the Dr. I wanted had to use the PAC because they were booked 8 months ahead. Got left sitting in the waiting room for an hour because the receptionist forgot to them I was there! They did my physical and included a ECG - they don't tell you but ECG/EKG is not covered at 100% - you get a bill for the routine physical that you think is covered at 100% from blue cross. Tried several times for a "sick" appointment was told they were booked it would be 2-3 days. I went to urgent care instead. Scheduled appointment for leg pain, couldn't see Dr. (no surprise) saw PAC, talked for about 10 minutes - got sent somewhere else for ultrasound and got charged $175.00 from Laureate. My husband and I are done with Laureate Medical. Find yourself a Dr. who listens, cares and has time for his patients. It's not all about making money. Laureate got too big to care about the patients. read more

I was in the ER with a TIA on 3/9/21. As instructed I called this medical group (3) days later to schedule a follow up with a Neurologist. They never called back so I called again. and spoke with Wes at Laureate Medical Group on 3/15/21; he was apologetic about nobody having called me back. He scheduled me with Dr. David Williams on 3/17 @ 9a. I advised him I would be getting dose #1 of the COVID vaccine on 3/16. He then said that as I would "have a headache and fatigue due to the Vaccine" he would "put this in my notes which would cause a COVID ALERT trigger" but that he would "call the doctor and let him know why" so as not to have my appointment cancelled. I received (3) calls on 3/16 from their office from Joan, Raquel, Marcel and/or Laquenya inquiring about the "headache and fatigue" (which I never got, by the way). After much back and forth, my appointment was confirmed for 3/17 at 9a. I arrived, parked where they told me to and followed protocol. Once on the 11th floor, Interesting to note that the girl at the front who should have been taking temperatures was reading a magazine and did not bother to take mine. I filled out paperwork, where they made sure the insurance and payment portion was complete, and sat down. Moments later I was confronted by a staff member informing me that the appt. was cancelled and to please leave. The staff member was uncomfortably close when addressing me, which was surprising seeing as how, in their opinion, I was infected with the COVID vaccine. I was treated rudely and I never received a follow up call with an explanation of offer to reschedule, as was promised at the time. Deplorable. A very bad experience. read more

Laureate Medical was once one of the best medical groups around. No more. The doctors sold out to Northside hospital, the midtown group moved to lovely new offices at 14th and West Peachtree and the service is now terrible. Trying to call the doctor's nurse today was a nightmare in "if you are a doctor, punch 1"--phone tree; every time I got to number 1 in the queue, they hung up. The nurse I finally got was not the doctor's nurse, was clue free and unhelpful. Sorry a group founded by Butch Frank and others sold out. read more

I went to this group at their Northside location for many years to see Dr. Fishman, a rheumatologist. Once I got to the back to see him, I had no complaints. He has a great bedside manner and is very thorough in his questioning and examination. He's also a great listener and doesn't rush you through your visit. I'm giving 4 stars because the front office is not nearly as efficient. Long waits, no return phone calls from the nurse, bad voicemail system, and bad attitude. This is a large practice, and it suffers from the same big business stuff as many other large businesses. It takes a long time to get in to see Dr. Fishman since he, like most rheumatologists, is very busy. But if you book early and plan to spend some time there, he's worth the wait. I was extremely disappointed when my current insurance company was not accepted there anymore. Please don't use Atlanta Magazine's Top Doctor list to find a doctor. The company they partner with, Castle Connolly, is a publishing company out to make money off these lists. You have to pay $25.00 a year to get the complete list, and the way the doctors are chosen is very misleading. The doctors all call their friends and get them to nominate them since they can't nominate themselves. That's very time consuming, so most of the really good, busy docs just don't have time to do this. Some of the docs on the list are just horrible, and Altanta Magazine and Castle Connolly are deceiving the public. They don't mention the lawsuits or complications these docs have. And many of the docs pay for additional advertising slots in the same issue. It's better to use sites like Yelp or others to find good reviews by other patients. As a doctor's wife of nearly 40 years and a native Atlantan, I have seen a lot, and we know many of these doctors personally. Please, don't use Atlanta magazine to find a good doctor. read more

Compassion? I think NOT. My husband, a patient for 4 years, asked for some pain medicine - just a 3 or 4 pills because of severe hemorrhoids for 1 - 2 days. He'd NEVER requested pain pills before. He doesn't drink, doesn't smoke and the office should have NO REASON not to prescribe some pain medicine. He just wanted something stronger than Tylenol until the suave worked. He was CRYING the pain was so bad. I've seen my husband cry twice since we been married over 15 years. Once was when his mother passed away, the other was when his brother passed away. He will not go back - the office staff showed NO COMPASSION. They said that he'd be better in a couple days - EXACTLY - HELP HIM FOR THOSE COUPLE OF DAYS! read more

Dr. Ghosh is a very caring doctor. However nursing staff is pathetic. As of today it has taken a week to get a simple request to get a different type of medication. Mind you I have been sick during this time. This has been an on-going issue with his staff. I only got a return call from another doctor's nurse. I have in the past let their laziness go, because I really like Dr. Ghosh. Well the time has come to find a new practice. Good doctors, HORRIBLE STAFF!!! I've been seeing a GP and several different doctors within the Laureate practice for a number of years now. I don't have any complaints with most of my docs -- they've all been pretty good. However, the office staff and the medical assistants are truly AWFUL. Office staff is almost universally incompetent and most of them have attitudes. They make you feel like an annoyance rather than a valued patient. I can't remember the last time I dealt with anyone who was good at their job, from front desk staff to billing to appointments. Good luck getting an appointment if you're already a patient, but forget it if you're a new patient. If you call for an appointment (even for established patients with urgent issues!), you will be put on hold for ages, then told that your doctor's next opening is in 6-9 months. I don't think this is really accurate, but it's like they don't want to give you any openings sooner than that for some inexplicable reason -- maybe they do this as a messed-up way of triaging the urgency of cases, but it really sucks when you need to see your doctor and can't because the staff is so rude and stupid that they won't try to work you in. I recently tried to refill a medication I was totally out of and they left a message insisting that I see my doc first (OK, that's reasonable I guess). I then called back to make an appointment and they "weren't able to accommodate me" for another few months (WTF?!?). I explained that I was out of a medication that I need to take daily but they didn't care, so I am just stuck waiting without my medication until the appointment. Luckily it's not a life-threatening issue, but I can only imagine how bad this would suck if it were a medication I needed to live. Their medical assistants are some of the most incompetent I've ever dealt with. I've noticed several errors on my charts that were made when I was giving my history and medications to the medical assistant before seeing the doctor. Luckily the mistakes did not endanger me, but again, what if the mistake had been costly or deadly? Reckless recordkeeping of this sort should not be tolerated. I also had a PA order the wrong tests for me, then of course I was forced to pay for her mistake. The absolute WORST is when they have to take blood. I am not a person who ever has any issues with getting my blood drawn and I don't bruise easily, but *every single time* someone at Laureate takes my blood, I am experience pain and scary bruising for days (sometimes weeks) afterwards. These people honestly do NOT know what they're doing. I don't know whether Laureate thinks it can save a little money hiring badly trained medical assistants, but that's what it seems like their strategy is (same as hiring incompetent office staff). They refer within the practice, which is annoying 1) because you still have to deal with the grossly incompetent office staff, and 2) sometimes you will get a specialist that's not great. I'd rather my doctor refer me to the best specialist there is, not the shitty one who happens to be on staff. The online patient portal that they tout is OK for getting test results and such, but it SUCKS if you are trying to get in touch with your doctor. It says you can use it for that, but when you go in, there's no way to reach your doctor. Multiple messages go unanswered by anyone, even urgent ones. Same as when you leave voicemails for staff -- they only sometimes call back, if you're lucky. There have been billing errors that I can't go into now because my head's about to explode. Other than the actual time spent with the doctor, my experience with Laureate Medical has been thoroughly terrible across the board. The staff (office and medical) are so unbelievably incompetent I don't know how this place stays in business. I hate to leave my awesome GP but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go elsewhere because I just can't take the headaches, hassles, and injuries anymore. read more
