The trail guides and patient horses deserve 5 stars. My saddle was comfortable and adjusted well, as was my husbands. My husband is a horse trainer who has ridden all over the country, but I've never ridden anywhere that wasn't flat, so this was a treat. GO for the sweeping views of the area. It's the most wonderful way to see the country. BUT (and this has nothing to do with the business) IF YIU ARE SCARED OF HEIGHTS AND HORSES...please don't go. LOL. I'm sort of joking, but there was a woman in my group that was near screaming at any given moment, she'd never ridden and was on the fetal position almost the entire time. She held up the back of the group so often...it was annoying. I'm not mad about it, but it was just sort of cumbersome. That being said, the horses are DARLING and a guide rode parallel to the scaredy cat the entire time, comforted her, and helped her relax. By the time we were done, the lady WAS able to enjoy herself. My suggestion to avoid that situation is to cough up the cash for a private trail ride. If you're an experienced rider, it really is a good idea to pay the extra money to take the 2 hour ride with you and whomever is in your group. This is a wonderful group of people with EXCELLENT horses. (Mine had ridden the night before at Medora! The Musical!) Blitzen (my horse) was unshakeable. I offered to buy him on the spot! I need a horse like him at home. I can't wait to return and pony up for a private ride!

This little gem of a park was listed on our ND 12 months/12 hikes list & we decided it was the perfect time to give it a try. It's located just outside of Roosevelt National Park & the terrain is very similar. We hiked out through badlands and grasslands vegetation. At times, the overgrowth was chest deep & there are several thorny plants covering the trails, as well as cacti. My legs were pretty well shredded. Be sure to load a map prior to heading out, as there is very limited cell service & we hit quite a few spots where the trail split with no signs / areas where there was no visible trail split, but you needed to walk a few feet over from the trail you were on to get on the trail you need to be on - very frustrating to have to double back to find it, when not actively tracking progress. Mosquitoes are almost as thick as the grasshoppers and there's a lot of open area- bring bug repellent if they find you tasty & sun protection, along with plenty of water. Watch for washouts/ trail closure signs. You'll likely see deer & cows, possibly snakes. The views are magnificent at times, especially at the start/finish. Fabulous sunset on the way out too! Before we left, we filled our bottles with nice, cold water from the fill station.

After a long drive from Yellowstone, this was a great place to stop and rest up. Facilities were super clean, sites were spacious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Showers were especially clean (possibly cleaner than my home shower ) and are free to registered campers! Be sure to catch Ranger Shawn while you're around. He had some great insight on good trails and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay and a good time while at the park.

Solid memories of my two stops in here while I was in town…read more The pizza here is locally famous, so I'd heard it about it from coworkers long before I got to town for work. Someone from a company we work with in the area had been in town for months and become a regular here, so my 2nd visit was even better. Grab a Cold Smoke Scotch Ale on tap for an excellent Montana-local beer on tap. Other good beers on tap are available if you want to stray from there. On my 1st visit, someone recommended the tenderloin steak tips, so I decided to save the famous pizza for the 2nd visit. Good call - the steak tips were solid. Wish I could remember what else I ordered. On 2nd visit (with regular leading the way), we went with the cheeseburger pizza, which sounded kinda weird, yet... gotta try something new, soooo... we did! And it was awesome. So good - never had anything like it before. Got cheese curds on the side, which were also stellar. Dined in both times, enhancing the piping hot and fresh experience vs taking something back to the room. Not sure if dining with a regular got me a 5-star experience or if it's always that awesome, but I've thought about this bar several times since I went... so that merits a solid review. I'll definitely be back when I'm back in town.

There were pickle buckets that had what looked like black mold on them. The ice buckets were rarely cleaned, and I personally saw a bug in the ice that was being kept for serving drinks. There were also constantly flies around the bar and other areas of the building. There were rodent traps around the building that, from what I saw, weren't being checked regularly. At one point, a dead rodent was left in a trap long enough that it started to decompose and caused a noticeable smell in the building. I understand that no bar is going to be perfect and that bugs or mice can happen, but these weren't just one time things from what I saw. Seeing these issues continue without being properly dealt with was concerning to me. I'm not writing this to be spiteful or to get anyone in trouble. I just think customers deserve to know what I personally witnessed while I worked there. Hopefully management takes the cleaning and pest issues more seriously.
