There are volunteers that are helpful and can answer any questions you have about the park. There are signs outside that share more about Theodore Roosevelt. There is a 36 mile loop that you can drive around and take in the scenic landscape views and views of the wildlife. There are trails you can take in addition if you are feeling more adventurous. The visitor center has plenty of parking, bathrooms are in good condition, and it has a water station near the restroom so you can fill up your refillable water bottle if you are running low on water.

The Scenic Loop, Drive is 36 miles around although miles of the road are closed,so we could not loop we had to backtrack. The visitor center has information, a theater and a museum with natural history displays and some of Theodore Roosevelt personal items. In this section of the park is a dude ranch from the 1920s that was the headquarters of the WPA. Previously there were guided horseback rides from here. There is a wilderness section of the south unit and a petrified forest. These sections of the park cannot be reached by paved roads. The gravel dirt roads are difficult for vehicle vehicles.

We only saw the North Unit on our visit so we will definitely have to visit more at a later date. While visiting I felt so at peace and love that it's not overcrowded like other National Parks and that you really feel surrounded by nature and wildlife. We enjoyed driving along the scenic path and soaking in the stunning views! We saw cannonball concretions, stunning views from the overlooks along the way, and saw lots of bison. There are lots of hiking trails to explore and we saw deer. We look forward to coming back and hopefully seeing wild horses and prairie dogs. The park is large with so much to see and do. An absolutely gorgeous place to visit that is so underrated! Highly recommend visiting this place!

No over-crowding, decent rustic camping, lots of wildlife & plenty of space to roam. South Unit loop has a lot of construction going right now, which makes it an out & back va a loop. We spotted plenty of bison, horses, prairie dogs, deer & such. There was a pretty thick layer of smoke lingering, no fault of the park but it did make for a rough outdoor time & lousy landscape photos. I've been a lot of places and have to see a better sunset than I've seen here. It's a great place to unplug & reconnect with nature.

The small lake is right next to the highway, and offers birdwatching, non-motorized boating, primitive camping, and fishing. While not a premier fishing lake, Camel's Hump can offer an angler a variety of species in a single day: largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, catfish, and walleye are all found here. Most fish are small, but there's a few lunkers in there I'm sure. The shoreline wrapped in cattails, redwing blackbirds, wading birds and waterfowl make this a good spot to have a quick picnic along the side of the highway. There are lots and lots of small lakes and reservoirs in NoDak like this one, but that doesn't make it any less nice to stop in and take an hour or two to slow down.

Piper was very personable and kept up steady conversation. The horses are well mannered, all with their own little quirks. It was nice that our wrangler knows the individual horses well enough to give us a heads up. For example, at the end of the ride there's a wide short bush that the horse I had insists on walking through. It wasn't dangerous, and it's just his preference and gives him a little joy, he scratches his belly on it. Piper knew the horses well enough she gave me a heads up so I wasn't surprised. Beautiful views.

The staff are very friendly, supportive and professional. Safety is a priority and they emphasize the directions on guiding your horse and the proper ways to mount and dismount. Now, the greens are closed and your playing to a cup and a flag in the fareway. No greens at all. It is a disaster out here. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They have poured so much fertilizer to it the entire course is scorched or dead. I don't know who the greens keeper is but they don't have a clue and have ruined this entire golf course in a single season. When I spoke to them at the clubhouse they are simply unapologetic about the situation. I will not be returning to this course for atleast 2-3 years because that's how long it's going to take to fix it IF they shut it completely down and have a professional company come in that specializes in golf courses and hand them an open checkbook. Yes, it's this bad, truly. I have to update my review and drop my rating to 2 stars and that's pushing it. This course is a disaster this year as the grounds are in absolutely horrible condition. A ton of weeds, Dead grass everywhere. All but two of the greens are completely unplayable, covered with sand and what's not covered in sand is covered in weeds. So Sad to see what was once a perfectly manicured course fall into such a state. Ave your money, you will be highly dissatisfied if you god this course this year.
