I came across this salon through Instagram and was in need of a new hair colorist so decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment with Madison and filled out a questionnaire of what I was expecting for my hair and uploaded inspiration pictures along with photos of my current hair. I asked for the price and was told $265. I arrive to the appointment, (March 10, 2023) she asked me what I wanted and mentioned that I wanted to go lighter and want roots and also showed her a couple of photos of what i was wanting and went with my second choice because Madison mentioned the first photo was a process and the one we went with (inspiration photo posted) was more do-able. After a whopping 8 hours my hair was darker and no roots. I was reassured by Madison that my hair will become lighter the more I washed it and if I wasn't happy with the color I could go back in for a different shade of toner which I agreed. At check out my total came to the amount of $340 instead of the $265 previously quoted, but I didn't question the amount (because I don't like confrontation) so I paid, left $45 in tip and left. A few showers later (March 17, 2023), I contacted Madison to advise her that my hair color faded into a color that was not to my liking and that the bottom portion of my hair looked outgrown still and wanted her to go higher with lightener for more of a cohesive look rather than the harsh unblended line. Madison was understanding and scheduled me for her next available appointment, March 22, 2023. At that appointment she assessed my hair, asked me questions and proceeded with a treatment to remove any toner and/or buildup. Mentioned if the treatment didn't work she would have to go in with a different approach and would have to charge me (which I still don't understand why). The treatment worked, she blew dried my hair then started with the foils at the bottom as I requested and throughout the hair where she felt that she missed. She toned it and blew dry it to show me the final color and to show me that the bottom half of my hair looked "better". At the checkout counter Madison recommends a leave-in treatment because my hair was dry which I agreed to purchase considering the damage my hair sustained within a week and half, but mainly so I could leave a tip. My total came to $222!!! I was like what! You're charging me for a correction which she proceeds to tell me it isn't a correction because of the work she did to attempt to justify being charged again as if she just didn't do my hair the week prior and could of done the same work the first try. As mentioned, I don't like confrontations but there was NO WAY I was going to pay additional money for a CORRECTION. She calls the owner, Billy, which immediately tells me that I have to pay because it's over her 7 day policy. But I contacted Madison on the 7th day and not sooner only because I needed time to wash my hair to see if it'll lighten up like Madison mentioned it would. I showed Billy pictures of what my hair looked like before the correction and asked her if that looked like I just stepped out of the salon which didn't say yes or no but asked if I could pay at least half...Meanwhile Madison is defending her work stating that she left the bottom that way for definition and to get my hair the way I wanted is a process, regardless of her stating that she could get me to the 2nd inspirational picture I showed her at the initial consultation because the 1st inspirational picture was not doable in one sitting. She attempted to be demeaning and condescending with her 2 years of hair color experience as if I've never gotten my hair done before and not aware of how a cohesive and complete hair color looks like and how it could be done in 5 hours rather than the 14 hours spent at True Color Hair Salón to get nowhere near what was requested. After going back and forth between the three of us, Madison finally stated that it was fine that I didn't have to pay anything but not go back into their salon as if I did something wrong which didn't sit well with me so I am making sure to let any potential clients to stay away!! Especially from Madison, she has many many more years of hair and customer service experience to go. There is a reason why she has availability all day everyday, which was the red flag I should have not ignored. This is not how you run a successful hair salon and wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business treating paying customers that way. I am sooooo glad that that I didn't budge to the additional $222 they wanted to bamboozle me out of on top of the $340 already paid because my hair still looks like I need to go to the salon. No problem there. BUT the same can't be said about the front people. They were awful! After my stylist was done she told me she was putting something away and would meet me at the front. I gathered my stuff and headed to front desk, I approached the desk and said hello. I got RUDE stares and one of them a middle age lady looked at the other girl and mocked me and said "hiiii?! She came out of nowhere" not once did she speak to me, she just walked away. I was taken back. I politely stated who my service was with and that I was ready to check out. Once my stylist came up she was able to get the other girl to check me out. I still paid my service, tipped my stylist because I was happy with her service just completely disappointed and disturbed by the front desk. However this time was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with them and has played a major decision in my choice to no longer use them as my main salon. My appointment was at 12- Noon, and it started promptly, the only good thing I have to say about this endeavor. I went in for a balayage hair coloring and the colorist (who never introduced herself to me) kept asking me if I was aware of the price and was rather rough applying the bleaching treatment to my hair. She was extremely inattentive, leaving me in my heating chair far longer after the heated portion had finished. I sit down in the chair to get my hair cut when I notice that my hair looks striped like I'm a scene girl from 2009. I ask the stylist Patty to please dry my hair so I can see what the color looks like and it was not how I'd asked for it to be. I was upset beyond belief to the point of tears and Patty got my colorist for me again and she quickly (and roughly again) sent me through another treatment and another round in the heating chair (going on about 3+ hours now since I'd arrived) She washed my hair (roughly) and kept asking the other girls who'd washed my hair before the last time and in front of me said "If you do her wash again I'll give you a Star" which I assume is the rating currency they use for getting promotions/higher status in the job, which made me feel like she couldn't even finish taking the time to make sure my hair was done right herself and was happy to pass me off if it meant that she'd be rid of me. Went back to Patty again and she was gracious enough to dry my hair first so that way I could see the color and thankfully it was much better the second time around. I got a light trim and some bangs added and went to pay. Wherein I told the gal at the front counter that I'd been here since 12-Noon and that in my time of being here at Visible Changes no one had offered me any water, I never learned the name of my Colorist. (I did today when I called to dispute exactly what I was charged for: Her name is Veronica) All I got were vocalized platitudes and no offers of how to fix it or make it better. "We'll have to talk to her about that..."-From the person whom I guess is the manager there. No attempt at all to rectify anything that I went through, even after hearing I'd not been offered water in the now 4 hours I'd been there. My SIL/MIL who had also been with me at the salon at the same time had Master Stylists/Colorists got similar procedures done to their hair and ended up paying over $50 less for their treatments (before tip) than what I ended up paying for mine. Patty's Haircut: $75 (1 inch off the bottom and curtain bangs) Veronica's Balayage: $285 The way I was treated is NOT what I expect when I come to a professional Salon like Visible Changes for the prices I am paying. This was absolutely my worst experience here and it has seriously made me reconsider ever trusting them with my cuts and colors ever again. Be warned and don't trust Veronica to color your hair the right way the first time.
