I had been battling for over a year with a lot of red tape while trying to negotiate a VERY inflated bill for a simple hospital outpatient test. I was billed $1600 for an annual physical and was asked to pay over $900 out of pocket. It was by far the most expensive physical I had ever gotten while at the same time being the shortest. It was like 10 minutes. A bunch of health history questions, a blood pressure and heart beat check and done. Then over to the lab for a blood draw. It was not much different than a health screen for a blood donation. The physician in question was pushing for X-rays and she was bitter when I refused because I knew it would come out of pocket and had no need of it,-- it was fiction. When the bill came I knew I had had a run in with another Thug Doctor. That is a person in lab coat trying to rob you and who jeopardizes your life because they don't give a fig about you or your health. I found out that medical fraud is very common and that medical billing advocates might help. The first advocate's rate was more than my bill. I called one advocate who said 'the healthcare industry today is corrupt' and that I should just pay up. Then I called Adria Gross. She took the time to look over my bill and got back to me quickly. I can't say enough about what a great medical billing advocate Adria Gross is. I had a few medical procedures done totaling $1,324.00 which were medically necessary. My insurance company did not want to pay them as they were saying they were routine procedures. I had appealed them a few times and they were always declined. I was about to appeal to a higher authority but was getting so frustrated getting all the documentation together again and having to make a lot of copies to prove the procedures were medically necessary. Following an outpatient procedure, my husband received multiple surprise bills from the hospital, including for an out of network anesthesiologist. They made him sign a form stating he had been given a list of in-network providers to choose from (though he hadn't) immediately before the surgery he desperately needed. On top of that his insurance didn't cover what they claimed they would on the actual procedure even after upgrading his policy. Like most people, we found it next to impossible to negotiate this terrible system even to just get basic questions answered. I can't speak highly enough of Adria, she's amazing! Our daughter had an emergency, out of state, that resulted in her needing surgery. I'd like to write a review on the services of Adria Goldman Gross. I'll start by saying that I'm a Board Certified Emergency Doctor and am usually on the other side of this situation. Our daughter was taken to a hospital in New York City by ambulance. She was treated in the emergency room, improved, and was discharged. She received a bill from the hospital. I read about Adria by chance in an insurance company Yelp review where she helped a client recover money the insurance company would not pay. I kept her name in mind if I ever had a medical billing problem. Well, sure enough, a couple of years later I ran into an issue where an ER doctor was trying to balance bill me for a visit my daughter had. I have an unexpected large medical bill from a surgery. The Hospital Billing Dept. is making mistakes and though they corrected a few, they are generally unresponsive. Every time I try to point out an issue, they send my bill into review.
