By far the worst experience we've ever had with a photographer. We spent significant time preparing for our daughter's 3-month session, including sending detailed examples and doing a 30-minute Zoom planning call. We were clear that we didn't expect exact replicas, just photos in the same spirit. Despite this, Meena completely disregarded everything we discussed and executed an entirely different vision based solely on her own preferences. Our most important request, a simple family shot on a shag rug, was repeatedly emphasized but inexplicably pushed to the very end, when our baby was overtired and upset, making the shot impossible. This was predictable and avoidable and made it clear that our priorities did not matter to her. Out of a nearly $900 session, we received only a handful of usable images, nowhere near the ~20 quality photos we expected (based on the milestones package we purchased). Many looked like casual phone pictures, not professional work. When we raised our concerns, Meena initially offered a token $100 discount, which felt insulting given how little we received. When we suggested a proportional adjustment, her tone turned defensive and hostile. She sent contract excerpts stating she was under no obligation to capture specific images despite having assured us beforehand that we would get the basic shots we wanted. I was genuinely concerned she might withhold our photos based on her tone alone. Attempts to resolve things by phone were ignored; she would only communicate via email. What should have been a meaningful milestone became stressful and upsetting due to Meena's dismissive, intimidating, and deeply unprofessional behavior. I strongly advise families to look elsewhere. We have worked with many photographers in Boston and San Diego, and this experience was in a league of its own, in the absolute worst way. Update: Meena then replied to this review with comments insinuating that we would prioritize pictures over the well being of our child. As a physician AND a mother I find this insulting and pathetic. If you suck at your job, own it and improve. Don't try to shift blame elsewhere. Taking a look at other reviews, it seems we are not the only family to have had an unsavory experience with Meena (a pattern is clearly emerging here). I worked with Meena for my daughter's newborn photo shoot. From the very start, Meena was kind, professional and flexible with what i needed and was looking for. Her online booking system made everything easy and after i booked it, i didn't need to worry about anything until the day of! The day of the photo shoot was so hectic for me. My daughter is my second, so getting myself and my toddler ready was no easy feat. I was so nervous about how he would do. The minute i walked into Meena's studio though, she put all my worries at ease. I forgot a few things and she was there with back up stuff. She had extra snacks for my extremely difficult toddler to calm him down. And she was SO PATIENT with me and both my babies during the entire photo shoot. I honestly can not recommend Meena enough. I was happy to book with Meena Studio for my newborns picture based on the pictures I saw from her Instagram. I was so excited! However my experience turned into a disappointment after the shoot. What was good about the service: she has a professional website with almost all details you need, she is quick to respond, and most importantly she took her time with the baby during the photoshoot. I liked that Meena asked what ideas I had for the pictures and also asked me to pick colors and outfits for the baby. I chose light lavender color and an orange. She told my husband and I to just sit and relax and not mind her while she took the picture. I trusted her work based on her Instagram so we did as instructed. However I wish now that I was hands on during the photoshoot and that I gave specific directions of the ideas of pictures I wanted. She took over 50 pictures with different props and I kept telling her how I'm more likely to order a lot more than the package I chose which was $500 for ONLY 10 edited images. What leads me to write a poor review is the experience after the shoot. When the pictures came, I noticed for the first time that she had wrapped my baby in dark purple color which I never asked for as my baby is dark complexion so most of the pictures looked dark. I had no idea she was changing the colors of wraps while I was there sitting and trusting her work based on my selection. If I post the picture she took of my baby it's night and day to her pics on Instagram. So I told myself that the pictures she sent are not yet edited so I emailed her and expressed that I had not selected dark colors and asked if she could change 2 out of the 10 pictures with the darkest wraps to lighter colors. I know one is able to do that in photoshop easily from my experience in photos. Once I asked she gave me serval excuses as to why it's hard for her to change the colors in photoshop, but she managed to change one of the pictures only and when I asked again about the second picture she would not respond to that request. Once I picked my top 10 pictures, I waited for the final edited versions and she sent me back all the pictures looking as if they were not even edited. The edits (if any) she made were unnoticeable. I know she takes so many nice pictures on her Instagram with creative editing skills in photoshop using props, lighting, flowers etc. but both my husband and I were super disappointed that the end result looked like something we could have taken on our own iPhones. $500 for 10 images is not cheap, but we were happy to pay it because we though we were going to get similar editing quality as posted on her Instagram. I showed the pictures to our family and friends and NO ONE could believe that most were "professional" pics and out of the 50+ images we can honestly say in the end we only liked 2-3 of them. She knew I was disappointed so she sent me 1 image of my baby's face cropped into a fake butterfly image to "makeup" but if I posted that pictures I feel like more people will be annoyed and angry. Literally no one believes that the picture quality is what we paid for including other photographers we used in the past. I didn't want to leave a negative review so I decided to even give her a second shot when she advertised she wants mother and baby models, I expressed interest she sent me a follow up email saying I had been chosen as one of her models and when I asked follow up questions she responded saying that she had many interests and she would let me know if I am her pick for a model and gave me a lame excuse. I was actually looking forward to seeing how she might be able to turn my negative experience to a positive one but I feel more disappointed with her lack of professionalism and customer service. I will not be recommending Meena to anyone. I tried to give her a shot and she was just a disappointment for a second time. If you can't do something at least be honest instead of giving excuses. I noticed she takes care of more of her Indian clients and it's sad she is not inclusive in her service to all. read more
