I had an issue with my van misfiring. I thought it was the transmission so I looked up services on Google and found Meenan. Drove in (cold call) and talked to Randy and Steve. These guys are amazing. They put their computer on my ECM and printed out all the code faults. They spent an hour explaining to me that it was not a transmission problem and what it might be. They also gave me several possible (reliable) repair shops names and #. As it turned out I had a blown head gasket. (Not their specialty but they went out of their way to help me. We took my car to Meenan after another mechanic warned us that the transmission was starting to fail. Meenan said transmission was OK but it needed other work of $1000+. We opted to get the work done. When they called to tell us they were done, they also informed us that they broke the speed sensor in the process and we would have to pay $200 for the part they broke if it wouldn't pass their road test. Needless to say, we weren't happy. Magically 30 minutes later, the sensor was fine and car was ready to go. 2 weeks later, all the dashboard warning lights related to anything to do with the brakes - ABS, AWD, Slip sensor and Traction Control - came on and the brakes weren't working correctly. Very scary to have happen with 2 kids in the car. When my husband called to ask what Meenan was going to do to make things right, the owner tried to lie that he had no idea who we were or working on our car but slipped up several times recalling details about our car. He even hung up on my husband. When he called back again, the owner was rude and condescending to my husband telling him that he had no idea what he was talking about when it came to our car. We now have to pay an additional $1000+ for the dealership to fix what Meenan broke. Use with caution. read more

After Fred Beans tried to bend me over for 8 k in repairs some of which were misdiagnosed these guys found the problem and worked with my budget. Meenan Transmissions was highly recommended to me when my van started making a strange sound. I stopped in and described my problem. Right away Steve checked the fluid, ran some sort of diagnostic and then went driving with me to hear the noise for himself. We had to drive for quite a few miles before the noise started. Steve determined the problem was with the power steering, not the transmission. I was relieved to hear that, but felt badly that I had taken so much of his time. He proceeded to check my power steering fluid level and give me some advice about getting it repaired, and acted as if it were no trouble at all. I was very impressed with the folks at Meenan Transmissions and will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs their services. read more

AAMCO told me that I needed $2800 in repair. They also said that it would last months and I didn't need to repair it immediately. After I sprung a leak in the cooler lines, I went to Meenan in Lansdale they replaced the lines, and changed all the fluids for less than $800. I took my car in to look at why it wouldn't shift into first or reverse. They first told me that they had checked with the dealership and found that my vehicle was still under powertrain warranty and that if it turned out to be an internal transmission issue they'd take it to the dealership instead of doing it themselves. They determined that it was an internal issue and so took it to the dealership as promised. I greatly appreciate the honesty and convenience they afforded me and if I ever have an out of warranty issue they'll be the first place I check with in the future. read more

I recently purchased a 2012 Lexus RX 350 with 108,000 miles on it. After a week it started to shudder between 25-40 mph. I took it to a Lexus dealer who diagnosed the problem as a faulty torque converter and told me the transmission would have to be replaced. They provided a price for a rebuilt unit and one from a junkyard. I declined both and departed. I took the vehicle to Meenan Transmission in Lansdale for a diagnosis. They took it out for a test ride with me and confirmed that the torque converter was not operating properly. After returning to their shop we discussed replacing only the torque converter or replacing the whole transmission. Steve and Randy suggested that before they do any repair they wanted to try flushing the transmission with new fluid and adding a trans fluid additive made for transmission shudder. They felt it was the most cost effective choice before removing the transmission. We set up an appointment and on that day they completed the flushing procedure. When I returned for my Lexus, Randy told me the fluid they drained from the transmission was so black and thick he was surprised the trans shifted at all. He felt confident that with the new fluid and additive the Lexus trans would work properly but it could take a few days of driving for the trans to be operating at peak performance. It was immediately obvious on my home that the trans was now functioning properly. It's been a week since the Meenan team completed the work and the Lexus transmission shifts so smoothly I can hardly feel it. It was a pleasure doing business with a honest customer focused business. Excellent service, friendly and knowledgeable employees, and thorough repair work. We brought my daughter's 2000 Honda Accord to Meenan's instead of the nearby Ardmore dealership because her car had only 66,000 miles on it when the transmission began to fail, and Honda did little to win our business nor did they offer a reasonable discount for work that should not have needed to be done at this mileage. Steve and Leo at Meenan's thoroughly explained the repair process, how much it would cost, and they and their mechanics went beyond their obligation to get my daughter's car back on the road for a very reasonable price, even making an additional non-transmission repair. My daughter and I are both very pleased, and I'd take another car there in a heartbeat if such a situation arose again. This place is an hour's drive from my home on the Main Line, but well worth every minute and mile to get there... read more

Our car was not shifting into gear you suggested one of us sit in the car and move the shift while the other looked under the hood to see if there was a cable that had come off, sure enough there was. You saved us time, aggravation and money. You could have had us bring the car in and done this yourself and charged us but instead you told us what it could be and sure enough you were right. I hate to give a bad review, but I cannot give this place a good review. The car was undrivable because of a broken shift fork. The clutch worked fine, but the car was stuck in gear. They diagnosed and fixed shift fork but somehow the clutch was then bad. They replaced the clutch and explained that they hard time getting the shift linkage correct and that you have to fidget with it to get it into reverse. I came to get my car and found my wheels scratched and dinged horrible around the lug where the tech hit the wheels with the impact wrench. I brought it to their attention and of course they denied they did the damage trying to say it was old and the paint was corroding off. Completely false. They touched up the wheels, however the damage is still visible. Picking up my car, and I couldn't get into reverse. And when I did, I couldn't get it out reverse without extreme force. I don't know how they could think this was acceptable to turn over to a customer. I was able to get the car home and reset the shift linage myself! Again, I cannot recommend a transmission shop that doesn't know how to reset the shift linkage, and damages other parts of the car. Speaking with other transmission experts, the consensus is that they damaged my clutch as well, but to be fair, I cannot prove that. I would not use them again read more
