Huge selection of games. This is just one of multiple rows

Hidden at a basement in Chinatown, this place can easily be missed. There is a small signboard that says Meeple Mart above the entrance to what seems to lead to offices space. You go down the stairs and behind closed doors with a peephole is Meeple Mart!! This place is huge. About half of the store dedicated to boardgames and the other half game pieces and other stuff. They also have a special clearence section. Not a lot of would normally buy but look what I found: Puerto Rico - one of my favorite strategy games. It was $5 off or original price of $37.95 so I decided to buy it. Didn't get to browse much of their selection of games as they were closing but will definitely come back again.

Good selection of games and even better prices! The girl is also pretty easy on the eyes.

I discovered this store three or four years ago and it's been my go-to store for board games ever since.

I doubt my review will say anything that hasn't already been said in the 15+ years worth of reviews…read morethis place has gotten. Wasn't thrilled about the 'no bag' policy, but I understand. It had to go on a small table off to the side from the checkout though. I was kind of hoping it'd at least be kept behind the counter? Only one employee worked the day we visited. They were nice. I also understand that they had work to do, specifically involving unpacking boxes & climbing ladders to put items away. But who is exactly is watching our bags now? My friend and I had to take turns staying near the table with our belongings and alternate looking/going deeper into the store. TLDR for the next: You're guaranteed to overspend. Please check the price ranges online & compare them before you buy something here. Everything is triple the price. Figures at GameStop that are $35 can be found here for $70+. Nendoroids with frequent rereleases cost more here than what you'd pay if you were to get them directly from the retailer with shipping. Scale figures that have binned and can be bought for under $100 are priced here at $250-$300. A figure available for preorder at this very moment in time retailing at $313 online is $999 on the AnimeXtreme website. The list goes on. The list CAN go on. I give AnimeXtreme 2 stars: one for having a decent manga section, and another for having enough to look at to kill time before our dinner reservation. Would never buy a figurine from here though.

I would recommend no one to ever visit this store until they get better staff.

This is a hidden gem in downtown Toronto and kudos to all the adventurers who stumble upon this bookstore on their own without the help of the internetz or a GPS. It's located inside the 401 Richmond building, which has mini art galleries inside, a cafe and a tiny music museum. The interior inside is very pretty so while you make a trip to Swipe, embrace the sounds of the squeaking floors and the feel of the building. This bookstore has a lot of books (not just design books), toys, stationary items and cute unique boutique-like items within the store. It's an awesome place to get some cool gifts for friends or family or for yourself.

The owner told me yes and then gave me this whole story on how it was priced over $100 before Christmas and he has been bringing down the price to this super good price of $59.99. Further promoting the story that the pieces are glass and the game has a higher value. I bought it and when I got home I discovered the pieces are not glass. One of them even had some excess plastic on it from the mould that I had to break off and sand. I looked up this company and the suggested retail is $49.00. I understand small business usually charge more, and I would have been more than happy to support a local merchant by paying a little more. However, I cannot excuse the lie, especially one with a full story to make me believe it. There are many small businesses in Toronto to support. This is not one of them.

It completely dampened my experience. After having spent some time at a couple of stores in the neighbourhood, I saw this store and had to go in. I love plushies, so it was natural for me to enter this store. I walked in. There were two staff members: an older Caucasian male and an older Chinese female. They both stared at me like hawks as I looked at the cute plushies. I settled for a strawberry plushie that sat perfectly in the palm of my hand. It brought me great joy. The man approached me and asked if I needed any help. I said that I was good -- that I had found what I wanted. I thanked him for offering to help and I continued to browse. He left me alone. One hawk down. One more to go. The woman did not leave me alone. She continued to circle me as if I were prey. Practically every aisle that I was in, she was there. At one point, we looked directly at each other in an aisle. We had this exchange: Her: Did you need any help? Me: Nope, I have what I want. Did you want to pass by? Her: (she moves past me) Me: Thanks. She was blocking my path browsing. If you are going to make me and every customer uncomfortable browsing in your store, I have no problem dishing it back at you politely. Walk away. I will not make you make me feel like a criminal for being a customer who likes to browse and is about to buy a plushie from your store. She stopped circling me after this exchange. I shouldn't have to politely tell you to stop being a jerk. You should know better as an adult. There are a couple of signs that say to not take photos. I didn't care. I took some. I didn't get a talking to about that, which I think was wise for them to not do that to a paying customer or one that was about to make a purchase. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and the transaction went through successfully. I placed my plushie in my paper bag. I thanked the man and left the store. I love my plushie. It's adorable and perfect. Sadly, it doesn't match my distain for staff that made my experience a rather unpleasant one. I'd rather go to a store and feel welcomed than setting foot here again. (475)
