When people think about comic shops, the first thing they think of is a dark, dank, environment with boxes toppling over one another. This is not the case with Heroes World. Heroes World is a well lit, clean, shop - with friendly and knowledgeable staff. You will not find the sarcastic comic book store guy behind the counter here. Instead, you'll find people who can recommend the best titles that came out on Wednesday. Or, you might glean some information about a new board game. Not only does Heroes World sell comic books, but they also have a range of board games, and figures, and clothing. If you want to indulge your inner-geek on an extensive shopping spree, or just play a couple rounds of Magic: The Gathering, there is no place better. read more

I drive all the way from toronto to Markham for this place! Love the staff here--all of them are super friendly and nice guys, and know just how to make you feel welcome and keep you coming back. They hold tons of regular events (I.e. 40k skirmishes, street fighter tournaments etc) as well as special events (the most recent being the launch for Elektra where mike del mundo came in for signing). If there's anything I ever need to preorder or order in, these guys will definitely have you covered and do the best they can to get you what you want. I've called in asking to set something aside for a few days, and they've happily accommodated me (no hint of annoyance or cattiness you get from some other comic shops). They check their Facebook page really often too, so if a phone call isn't an option, they reply well within a day if you leave a comment, post or message. I've had a few things saved for me in this way and I always love how quickly they get back to you and how happy they are to help you. There's very few comic shops out there that I like, and heroes world is easily my first choice to give my business to. These guys truly deserve it the most. read more

Love this damn place! Small, cozy and friendly staff. I started to visit Heroes World when they were still located at Hwy 7 and Kennedy. Nothing has changed since the move - still a great place to hang out and get caught up with Heroes stuff, y'all know? It's not a super big place like the stores downtown with 2 levels of comics and toys, but it's sufficient for the casual enthusiasts! Comic selection isn't huge, but they got all the goodies, so I can't complain! Enough selection of toys, especially now they have Funko Pop vinyl figures. At the back, there's room for groups to cast their Magic Cards and whatnot. Overall a great place... Did I mention the staff are uber friendly and helpful? :) Good job guys, keep it up! read more

Heroes World is a small store in the plaza on the north-east corner of Warden and Highway 7. They have a ton of nerd-like things including trading cards, figures, comic books, board games, t-shirts, etc etc. When you walk in, you can instantly see what type of store this is and if you're one of those people, you'll love it. They have everything in a given spot and every shelf is organized neatly and the store in general is extremely clean. The staff in particular are extremely friendly and are very knowledgeable. My girlfriend went there to find a board game and one of the staff members were able to list out two or three that he thought would be good for her and listed out the reasons why. The staff also make sure to ask you if you're looking for something, help you and don't pressure you into buying something you may or may not want. There's something here for everyone. My personal favourite shelf is where the Pop! Vinyl figures are. They have a large shelf dedicated to these alone. I'm not a comic book person but if you are, I highly recommend checking this place out as they have walls upon walls of them. I also recommend this place for anyone looking for TCG cards (Magic, Pokémon, etc) as they tend to be cheaper here than anywhere else I've been to. They also have a huge selection of board games that you can check out too. They also hold weekly tournaments and get-togethers there for several games and TCGs including Magic and Dungeons and Dragons. They have a schedule right inside the store (when you walk in, it's literally right in front of you). I've never been to any of them so I can't really vouch on how good they are. All in all, I highly recommend this place for just about anyone. I've brought a few friends here and they've all loved it here. Go and satisfy your inner-nerd here! read more

Been coming here since high school, this is still one of my favourite comic book shops. They carry a wide array of comics, from older graphic novels to the newest singles. Anything that they don't have can easily be checked and ordered for you, they'll call you once it arrives. Aside from the comics, they carry a ton of games. They also host different game nights throughout the week, so serious and casual gamers alike can come together and enjoy. If you're looking for some collectables, whether it be for yourself or as a gift, Heroes World has a little something for everyone, from high end statutes to POP figurines. Side from inventory, what they have is amazing service. Every single guy in there is genuine and friendly, they're not trying to up sell you or pressure you to buy something you don't like or need. Located at the corner of Hwy 7 and Warden, I have frequented Heroes World a couple of times now and can say I enjoy this place. There are very few board game/gaming stores in Markham so if I need a quick pick up for small items, this is the place to go. While their prices are a little higher than other places, I find the convenience and their service makes up for that. I pick up items such as card sleeves and dice, but they also offer a decent selection of board games, comics, funko pop, and an area to play and lots of items for... I think it's Warhammer? (I could be wrong) I believe they also offer events and nights to bring gamers together. Anywho, service is very accommodating and welcoming. Some places have an elitist vibe but I've never experienced it when I was here and you can tell how they treat their customers because they have a lot of regulars. One of the employees even let me open a package to try to see if my card fit in it. He was very nice. In conclusion, if you're looking for anything related to this category, this place is a very good choice if you're in the area. 4.5/5. read more

THIS STORE IS SO BADASS! Its like my nerdiness exploded and perfectly shelved all its contents! I had read some awesome reviews and heard that they had some POP! Vinyls, so went to check it out. An awesome little store with all the nerd gear you could possibly want! Comics and manga, to board games and figurines! Definitely a go-to place if you're looking for any of that kind of stuff! Was really happy to see they had the library versions of Avatar: The Last Airbender (though I already have them). My friend wanted to see if they had any Futurama comics, but unfortunately they didn't. Had quite a few Vinyls in stock, but none that I was currently looking for. Not a big deal! Overall super friendly staff, very attentive and willing to help you however they can. A bit odd to me personally that majority of the stuff in store didn't have price tags, but you can always just ask. read more

I started going to this place a few months ago, and immediately took to it. I go once a week after work to play Warhammer 40k and have done a Friday Night Magic. The staff know their stuff and treat customers like valued friends. This is a great place to go for long time players and people looking to get into a game. Staff have zero geek-snobbery and the store's regulars are friendly and welcoming. Fair prices, and a great selection of Magic and other trading card games, Warhammer 40k models, boardgames, comics and related gear. read more

This place is a real gem. It's a small store located in the No Frills Plaza at Warden and Hwy 7. It has a lot to offer though, from board games, hard core comics, and the light fun archies, to collectible toys. When you think of a comic book store this is exactly what it feels like when walking in. The guys who run the store get an A+ for customer service all the time. I go here to get gifts for some of my nerdier friends and I do not mind paying a bit more than what I would have spent at Chapters. I much rather support this business than a big one that doesn't care about you. If you have any questions about anything you can ask one of the guys and they can talk your ear off about it, they are so passionate about everything. I once had a question about dungeons and dragons for an assignment they told me to speak to their dungeon master who runs weekly dungeons and dragons events there! He spent at least half an hour answer my questions and didn't even pressure me to buy anything. Everyone there just simply loves being there and the culture and it shows. If you are looking for a certain volume in a series and they are out of stock they will happily order one for you and call you when it arrives. They don't ask for payment beforehand either. They are always getting new stuff in so I recommend going in to check out the stock. They also host events different nights of the week which everyone can join in. read more

While not as big as some of the downtown stores Heroes World more than makes up for it with the folks that work there. Andre, John and the rest of the crew really know their stuff. I've been going there for a couple of years now and it's still my favourite comic/games store in the GTA. They take the time to get to know their customers. This is what a comic book store should look like. All too often comic stores are located in long narrow store units with shelves that are far too close to each other, making for tight aisles and congested spaces. I have seen comic shops that look like someone's basement. Product just everywhere, no organization, store looks in the midst of "renovation" for 6 years and counting. Comic fans don't necessarily make good store owners. However Andre and Jon definitely make good owners. They know what they want out of their store, and they have pushed forward with their plan. Nicely laid out, open area, not cramped at all. Inviting and well lit. Lots of comics, games, warhammer, and multiple events going on throughout the week. The owners know their stuff, ask them about the latest comics, or a popular board game, and they can answer most questions. Prices for most items are on par with other stores, or slightly higher on some products. However I would never say that they are "over-priced". They have a good customer base and welcome new people to comics, or games opening and can help you get up to speed on how to play warhammer, what is going on in Marvel or DC comics, what are the current hot trade paperbacks, or what are good entry level board games to get. I highly recommend checking the store out when you are in Markham. read more
