Almost all of the plants that I've gotten from there have held up after planting and are still healthy and growing. I visited Brownswood Nursery for the first time and purchased several varieties of border shrubs in…read morethe spring and planted them in my well-amended garden bed. Despite proper sun and watering, withing several weeks one shrub started to turn brown. I brought it to the nursery when 3/4 of the bush was dead. I requested a replacement and was advised that I had over-watered the plant and it had develeped a fungus. I was further advised that they would offer a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT, AT 50% OF THE COST! This did not sit well with me but I needed another bush, so I reluctantly paid the additional cost and purchased fungal spray to have on hand. Within the next couple of weeks, another shrub as well as the replacement shrub started to turn brown. I administered the fungicide accordingly, but the plants did not respond and died. Upon calling the nursery and advising them of the situation, I was told this time that the shrubs had been UNDER-WATERED and that they only offered a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT. I have purchased many plants and shrubs over the years from other nurseries as well as at Home Depot, Lowes, and Costco, and have never experienced this deplorable level of customer service. If there is a problem, this nursery expects one to call with any issues so that they can give you the run around and BLAME YOU for the plants failure! I learned that Brownswood Nursery does not stand behind the quality of their merchandise. NEVER AGAIN!!

Sure I spent a decent amount of time harvesting in my grandmother's garden, but when it comes to tiling and putting seeds in soil that is not me. So whilst visiting friends in Charleston they wanted to show us their favorite spot for plants. Being a good friend, I went along for the ride. Here's what I've learned about plants, since volunteering in a community garden since my CHS visit. Plants are good for us! Of course they're good in the sense of something to eat or a herb for flavor, but I'm talking about mental health here (not to mention physical health-purer Oxygen). They help the mind rest and focus and relax. And that is exactly what happened when I walked through the door of Plant Babe. I had no idea there were that many plants (again, not my strong suit here). And the aesthetics of the exude warm colors and allow for sunlight to spill wherever it pleases. They should set up chairs and charge by the hour for "chill therapy". And the team, superb. Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. If you are anywhere near, even if you "think" you don't need a plant, stop by and I'll bet you leave with something in your hands.

I called to see if they sold pine straw, and the woman who answered the phone said they had a dozen…read morebales left. I needed ten, so asked her to hold them for me til I arrived within the hour. I offered to give her my credit card to "hold" them. It apparently wasn't necessary but she took the number down anyway. Later, looking at my reciept, I saw that they charged me a "CONVENIENCE FEE" of $.74 FOR USING MY CREDIT CARD - without warning me. I called and spoke to the mgr, who I told that I was NEVER informed of a "convenience fee"("convenient" for whom...?). Had I been, I would happily have pay ca$h. I requested a refund for this ridiculous, (ILLEGAL?) charge. She replied, "My employee ALWAYS tells people about the fee!" Well, in this case she did NOT. Credit card fees are a cost of doing business that the proprietor must eat, and/or adjust her prices accordingly to absorb them. She was extremely unpleasant, refused to refund this bogus charge, (which I easily could have disputed with Discover) but since the pine straw was okay I chose not too, but I will inform YOU to steer clear of this less than honest establishment. Stick with Hidden Ponds, Hyams, or Abide a While garden centers - they all understand customer service.
