There's some that…read moreare larger and some that have lower prices, but the service and knowledge at Abide A While can't be matched. When I first moved to Mount Pleasant 5 years ago, Abide A While was the first nursery that I went to. As soon as I walked in the annual section, I was met with the warmest smile by an older lady that instantly made me feel at home. I forgot her name, but after talking for a while she had mentioned she was with the company for about 40 years! Being as happy as she was with the same company for that long is definitely is a statement in itself! Unfortunately she retired not too long ago, but now I've met so many other friendly and knowledgeable people at Abide A While. Bruce and J.D.(?) are my go-tos. As for the layout, I like it a lot. Pretty much all the annuals are to the right. Houseplants are on the left, inside with the household items. (All of the household items are beautifully displayed and consist of great quality). Outside, towards the rear of the building are the perennials, trees, and some tropical plants. One of the most important things about Abide A While is every plant is labeled and the majority have full descriptions! If the description is not on the pot, it'll be on a nearby post or printed out on a card. There's nothing more that I hate than to have to do full research on the spot for a plant that catches my eye. So kudos to them for providing that information. I'll end with saying Abide A While is just beautiful, inside and out. I especially love going there after a stressful day. It's so serene, and even majestic in a way. If you haven't been there before, it's worth going for that reason alone.

They told me how to take care of it and it's sprouting lemons!! Value: you get what you pay for. It's not cheap but the product is clearly top notch.

His description and excitement over this plant's vibrant blooms-to-come were animatedly relayed so I was sure the little bush would be amazing the following spring. I love people whom are good at their jobs! Thanks nursery dude for making me happy this spring. Trust. Faith. Vision.

I needed ten, so asked her to hold them for me til I arrived within the hour. I offered to give her my credit card to "hold" them. It apparently wasn't necessary but she took the number down anyway. Later, looking at my reciept, I saw that they charged me a "CONVENIENCE FEE" of $.74 FOR USING MY CREDIT CARD - without warning me. I called and spoke to the mgr, who I told that I was NEVER informed of a "convenience fee"("convenient" for whom...?). Had I been, I would happily have pay ca$h. I requested a refund for this ridiculous, (ILLEGAL?) charge. She replied, "My employee ALWAYS tells people about the fee!" Well, in this case she did NOT. Credit card fees are a cost of doing business that the proprietor must eat, and/or adjust her prices accordingly to absorb them. She was extremely unpleasant, refused to refund this bogus charge, (which I easily could have disputed with Discover) but since the pine straw was okay I chose not too, but I will inform YOU to steer clear of this less than honest establishment. Stick with Hidden Ponds, Hyams, or Abide a While garden centers - they all understand customer service.

They are this beautiful oasis of indoor and outdoor plants. I was greeted by their friendly staff who allowed me to tour their HUGE greenhouse that just left me in Aww! I spent time looking at every plant they offered and it was such a relaxing spot. I didn't want to leave and had to talk myself out of making a purchase. I came strictly for planters, but man it was hard to resist. They have a cute little store with unique planters and other planting needs and trinkets. Brownswood is also a landscaping company and can supply you with everything to make your lawn beautiful. Everything about this place is a plant lover's dream and for anyone looking to spruce up their property should definitely check them out. Very reasonable prices, great customer service, and a knowledgeable staff to help you beautify your place indoors and out.

Despite proper sun and watering, withing several weeks one shrub started to turn brown. I brought it to the nursery when 3/4 of the bush was dead. I requested a replacement and was advised that I had over-watered the plant and it had develeped a fungus. I was further advised that they would offer a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT, AT 50% OF THE COST! This did not sit well with me but I needed another bush, so I reluctantly paid the additional cost and purchased fungal spray to have on hand. Within the next couple of weeks, another shrub as well as the replacement shrub started to turn brown. I administered the fungicide accordingly, but the plants did not respond and died. Upon calling the nursery and advising them of the situation, I was told this time that the shrubs had been UNDER-WATERED and that they only offered a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT. I have purchased many plants and shrubs over the years from other nurseries as well as at Home Depot, Lowes, and Costco, and have never experienced this deplorable level of customer service. If there is a problem, this nursery expects one to call with any issues so that they can give you the run around and BLAME YOU for the plants failure! I learned that Brownswood Nursery does not stand behind the quality of their merchandise. NEVER AGAIN!!
