Whenever I am in town, back home, I go to Mega Bev because they are the best! Such a great selection of Michigan Ciders b/c MI has the best ciders in the US. Don't even try to argue, I have had them from all over being a gluten free allergy person. The staff is super helpful! I wanted one type of cider, they didn't have a true six pack, he told me I could create my own six pack and then get 10% off my entire purchase! Including the normal 6 packs I had. They have a solid selection of all alcohol, including liquor, local beers, mainstream beers etc. Worth a shot if you prefer local alcohol. read more

This is a dangerous place for me to shop, more so than target my husband says. They offer SO MANY OPTIONS and I love the build your own 6 pack set up. Craft beer can be quite pricey so we like to do flights and tastings at home and review beers before buying a full pack of most. Great store wish there were locations up north. read more

Mega Bev's method of dealing with special release beer and whiskey is ridiculous and borders on sadistic. Instead of posting when bottles hit the floor like most stores in the area do, they would rather announce in advance that it will be a certain morning, forcing people to get there very early and, generally, freeze their asses off for an hour or two in hopes of getting a bottle that is very limited because they are spreading across so many stores. I waited in line for over an hour one freezing morning only to find out there were 4 bottles of Four Roses available. They are doing it again this weekend when the temperature is going to be 20 degrees. Learn from your competitors and have a little more respect for your customers. read more

This place is the BOMB! They have several locations with the flagship store at 9th street and M-43 right across from Meijer. Other locations are in Marshall, Battle Creek across from the mall, and portage, on Oakland near Centre. The selection can't be beat and the prices are great. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The liquor is priced at the lowest allowed by the state!! Can't beat that!! Overall I come here often and can't say enough about this place. Whether you want a six pack of Miller lite or a specialty microbrew and not to mention the extensive wine and liquor selection, they have it all and then some. I went to the beer & donut festival over the weekend and tried an amazing pineapple cider for the first time. They didn't have it for purchase at the festival but I got multiple recommendations to go to Mega Bev to find it. Thus I ended up at Mega Bev, and I found it! I went in on a mission and after I found it I decided to take a look around. I have to say they have a WIDE selection. I went looking for a cider but I ended up finding so many flavors of different alcohol that I'd never even seen. I'm so glad I was recommended this place. I have a lot of friends that love craft beer who I can take here and they even have a wide selection of rare wines. I'll have to take another trip here when I come to Kalamazoo next! Come on Mega-Bev! Where were you when I was in college? Sure, my tastes were simpler back then, but you could have taught me so much. It's okay, I forgive you. My liver, however, does now. I pull into your parking lot and it screams for its life knowing it's about to take a beating. But it's okay, because you're worth it. I'm a fan of Mega-bev. Their whisky/scotch/bourbon selection is a full shelf larger compared to most other for most other stores around. They are also probably one of the cheapest and cleanest stores with pretty friendly staff. One downside is that they occassionally/often have damaged containers. Due to state laws, they can not offer you a discount - so if you're into collecting or if you want the box/case that is included with a bottle of liquor, you might have to settle for a smashed canister. Often, they will only have one and as soon as you buy the last smashed one, they will re-order and get a ton of fresh new undamaged ones. This has happened to me twice. However, if the container doesn't matter to you, then this place is probably the best option without the 10-20% upcharge that some places like Tiffanies might charge. The only other major downside is the deafening squealing noise activated by the door opening, so whenever someone comes in or out - there's a maddening siren that goes off and at busy hours of the day it sounds like a non-stop swarm of hummingbirds going into a blender. read more

When I first drove by Mega-Bev, I was curious if the area really needed a liquor store that was that large. After shopping there I realize, yes it does. They have an excellent selection of beer, wine and the hard stuff along with mixers. But what I really appreciate is the insight of the employees. If you want to try a new bourbon, tell them your price range and they will find one you will love. Their staff are truly experts. They also do not mark up their liquor above state min like other specialty beer and wine stores do which is nice considering how high the MI alcohol tax is. No matter what you choose to wet your whistle, you will find it at the Mega Bev at a fair price. read more

Best place to buy beer, liquor, wine. Such a wide variety. They also have an excellent deli and great made to order sandwiches. Forget Subway. These sandwiches are fresh, made to order, better meat choices, and less expensive than Big Box subs. read more

Went to this place at suggestion of a co-worker. Wow is all I can say! Every conceivable beer wine and liquor is under this roof. From inexpensive to top shelf stuff! If you can't find what you need here you don't need it. Staff was super helpful even though I was there about 30 minutes prior to closing. Holy alcohol heaven! I stopped in for the first time this week to finish up some Christmas shopping. If you are coming here without a plan, give yourself plenty of time. There is a very large and impressive selection of beer, wine and spirits. There were a couple aisles of single bottles of beer. I was able to make a sampler of IPAs brewed around the state for my brother-in-law. The staff was helpful and knowledgable. I will be returning when I have more time to browse! read more

I was told a week before they released KBS that it would be released at noon on Sunday, that it would be one 4-pack per person for $20.99, and that it was first come first serve (which I thought meant if you are the last in the door you won't get beer if it runs out). I showed up the day of at 9:00 AM and was told it would be one 4-pack per person and it was first come first serve. I waited at the front of the line for three hours, and from about 11:30-11:45 AM around 15-20 new people strolled in. One minute before noon they announced they were changing it to a TWO bottle limit to accommodate all of the people confused by the meaning of "first come first serve." Those of us who were there since 9:00 AM were pretty annoyed, but it got worse when we purchased our TWO bottles for $18 as opposed to the FOUR we were promised for $21. It was blatantly obvious the owner saw an opportunity to price gouge us. I wouldn't have had an issue if they had at least charged a fair price after flip flopping on their word. The manager was just following direction, but the owner is clearly an un-trustworthy scammer. I will be taking my business back to Tiffany's and Drake's. read more

I am new to the area, and of course one of the first things I set out to do was identify and locate a new liquor store! I passed Mega-Bev on my way to Meijer one weekend, and instantly became intrigued. I did some online research to see what they had, and took a trip to the store. The place is very large, filled with all the types of liquor that you could imagine! I felt like I was in Heaven! It took me about a half hour to finally decide what I wanted. I became accustomed to the smaller, corner joints in my last city, but they often times had a limited selection. So needless to say, this was a new experience for me! I'm excited to broaden my palate with different local brews. And the prices seem to be the standard for the type of liquor you purchase (though it's easy to go over budget here given the selection, so be careful!) read more

Today this store lost my business forever. I was in last night for some Bourbon, and one of the clerks recommended a bottle that they had on special, and I loved it! Today, I went back in with my girlfriend to buy another bottle before they sold out, and the clerk (different guy) asked for both of our ID's, but she didn't have hers. He then informed me that I couldn't purchase the Bourbon, and that was that. I asked if I just needed to leave and come back without her, and he said "nope, I can't sell you anything". In disbelief, I went out to my car, sat there for a minute and got a little more pissed. Ultimately, I went back in and confirmed with this guy something that I thought was craziness, "do I have to leave the premises and return without her, period?" I asked. His response was, "as long as I'm working here today, we will not sell you alcohol because I saw her." That lost them my business forever. I'll support any other liquor store in Kalamazoo before going back there, and will steer everyone I meet clear of them. read more

I seriously enjoy going to this place. I will go out of my way to take a look at this giant warehouse full of booze. They definitely capitalize on pretty much everything. I just enjoy going there to look around, browse the selection and pick something out totally new each and every time. Wine, liquor, beer, craft beer, soda, mixers and just fun accessories tailored to the drinker at heart. This place HUGE and I was told by one of the workers that there is only about 5 warehouses that I like this location. I think another perk I enjoy is that you can create your own 6 pack to make it our own personal unique sixer. I haven't done that as of yet, but it is on my bucket list. The one thing I could criticize are SOME of the employees. There are all really knowledgeable about the questions you ask about their products, overall, but I just desire the extra friendliness when it comes to answering the questions. We took Zach's sister and husband to this place on their visit to Kalamazoo, and they were in heaven. I could not agree more. I'm sure I will be back soon. read more

We have shopped at this location A LOT since they opened in Kalamazoo. We have purchased everything from sparkling juice for our kids to all kinds of beer and wine to high end bourbon. We have always been happy with their selection and the expertise of the staff. So when we wanted a beer and root beer kegs for my daughter's graduation party I didn't think about ordering it from anywhere else. When I ordered the kegs the lady on the phone told me they didn't rent the taps and I'd have to buy one for $20 which is far more sanitary she told me. I thought that was a little strange since we'd always rented taps in the past but I didn't have a problem with it and trusted that Mega-Bev would provide us with a good product. My husband picked up the kegs and taps the day of the party and got home over an hour before the start of the party. He and my father fought with those cheap pony taps for over an hour. The beer literally trickled out so slowly it would have taken 10 minutes to fill a cup and the root beer wouldn't work at all. Our guests started arriving for the party and one of them was a bartender with a lot of experience tapping kegs. She couldn't get them to work either. So 20 minutes into the party on an 85 degree day we had no drinks (except water) to offer our guests so we started calling around desperately trying to find a real tap to rent. The closest place was Stillwater's in Texas Corners. The man there told me they didn't usually rent taps but rather just provided them when the kegs were purchased. I explained our situation and thankfully he said to come on in and he'd take care of us. Luckily we have a great neighbor who ran out to get them for us so we didn't have to leave our guests. Stillwater's gave us the taps for just a 100% refundable deposit and 1/2 hour later we had the kegs tapped and our guests were happy. The adults enjoyed the beer and the kids loved making root beer floats on the hot day. The day after the party my husband returned the kegs to Mega-Bev. He explained that the taps they insisted we buy were complete junk, hadn't worked, and nearly ruined our party. He asked for a refund. The lady refused stating all sales were final and even suggested that it was our fault they didn't work. She claimed they never get any complaints about those taps. My husband then got upset and demanded to talk to the manager. He was given the manager's name and went out to his car to call him. After making multiple phone calls to other Mega-Bev locations trying unsuccessfully to find the manager or the owner he finally talked to a lady who admitted they get many, many complaints about those pony taps and told my husband to go back into the store and they would give him a refund. He went in and was given a refund - but not without attitude! We are so disillusioned with this experience that I doubt we will shop there again. From now on Stillwater's definitely has our business! read more
