Was here a week ago on a snowy Saturday. Was with a party of five and we each got a flight. First off the setting and seating amazing. Comfortable yet modern, great setting for a tasting. We came in when they opened and was greeted with an unfriendly employee. Sir seemed very uninterested in her job and what we were ordering. Lastly and the most disappointing aspect was the wine. You could definitely tell some of it had been corked and was tasting bad. Many of the flights tasted very unpleasant. Would not return or waste time going. read more

I've been wanting to visit Twine for a while and finally was able to stop by recently. The space is chic and sleek, with a selfie area and cozy seating. They have a lot of different wines and are known for their wine slushies. I decided on a wine slushy flight with all 5 of the flavors: sangria, green apple, blue raspberry, strawberry, and tropical. The colors are super vibrant and made me think of a 7-11 slurpee. They were all very flavorful without a super artificial taste and quite sweet. If you don't like really sweet wines, you might not like the slushies, but they do have some drier options available. They also have wine cocktails, which look really fun and unique. They have a small menu with cheese and charcuterie, a couple salads, spinach artichoke dip, and a few other snacks. Coming in as one, wasn't a problem but I walked in and was served at the counter so be sure to get reservations or it's quite possible to sit out on the patio.  Food for one is just one item that I can see. That's ok not here for that. I was attended two by two lovely people and they had a birthday party and about 4 other groups to deal with, yet I got conversation and even information about the wines. I stepped up for a tasting, it was six wines and not a one was bad.  Capriccio- I cycled back to this as I didn't notice the description. Not big on high tannins, the tannin dryness is subtle but still too much for me. I can see using this for steaks and Italian. Not overtly in your face for a red which is a winner for me. Pinot Gris- nice and light not as dry as a chardonnay. Beautifully delicate Roche Rose-more fruity than a normal rose. Very nice to go with any fish or chicken but also, nice casual drinking wine. Briarwood- delightful red finishing wine. Sweet but nice to have near dessert. Green apple sangria- this sweet fruit has a forward sweet (grape?) with a tart finish (oooo, that green apple is tasty) and becareful, you'll want more than just a taste and you might finish a bottle.  Peach Mango- wow..the peach is strong and the mango is hinted which is perfect if you aren't into a flowery taste (too much mango tasted like flowers). I can that although the green apple sangria is right next to it, this is a totally different taste. Definitely nice dessert wine or even can be a good spritzer. This business has a backdrop that even has a ring set of lights so you can get a good picture of everyone. One of the people apologized for the busy nature and told her that being busy says a lot for the business. If you're in the area, looking for some tastings of good wine and even a good charcuterie board or cheese and wine pairing...this is a great place. This is my first time here. It is one of the most beautiful places in Kalamazoo ! I don't drink alcohol at all. But I would come for the non-alcoholic drinks and the place to chill ! One disappointment was the no kids. I had 2 friends meeting me there. I told them not to bother. Nice atmosphere when we walked in. Decorated looked nice. A brand new winery recently opened up in Kalamazoo. Twine Urban Winery is a boutique winery owned and operated by Nicole Triplett, Michigan's first Black female licensed winemaker. I have been trying for a few weeks to make a reservation and finally was able to visit on Sunday afternoon. The facility is modern and inviting - dark painted walls, great lighting, and four top tables scattered throughout. There is also a bar-standing option available. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. We were greeted by their lovely staff and served promptly. I opted for the 4 2oz wine flight. I was very impressed with their Merlot, Chardonnay, Rose, and Cipricco D tried their Bordeaux and Meritage. He liked them so much he bought a bottle of each. We topped off our tasting with their delicious creamy spinach artichoke dip. A really cool feature is a debit card you reload to purchase your wine. The winery is cashless and once you swipe your card you can choose your wine. Nicole stopped by our table and we had such a lovely time speaking with her. She was so kind to be in our photo in front of their cute photo background. A patio is being just about ready to be open for the summer. I can't wait to return and sit outside and enjoy a glass of Twine's wonderful wines. Kalamazoo is so lucky to have Twine Urban Winery as a part of our community. read more

I don't even know where to start. This place is amazing. The atmosphere is so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. I love the building and the decorate. It's so nice. Since it is a smaller space it can get louder though. Cleanliness: very clean, organized, and had a selfie area to take pictures. They had a sanitizer area. COVID precautions: taking temperature when you arrive and asking for your name. We made a reservation online. Tables are distanced. Cost: I did attach a menu to this review. As you can see the different bottle range from $12 to $28 dollars. The tasting was $15 and came with 4 different samples. We also got the meat and cheese board and it was kind of pricey but the meat was fresh, cheese was good and it came with other little snacks. And we had to try one of the wine slushees and it was delicious! Overall: the food was good but the wine was amazing! It was all made in house so I love that. Had such a lovely ladies night here recently. This biz would be a great compromise for a wine lover and a newbie to the wine scene since there's lots of sweet concoction options for those who aren't full-on wine lovers. One of our group had ordered the wine hot chocolate before I arrived come come on and that sounded really intriguing so I tried it. The wine flavor wasn't particularly prevalent come out but it was a rich and magical drink. Apparently they use oat milk for the milk so you could get it as a non-dairy/vegan option, but it generally comes with a huge portion of a cream on top, which I recommend if you aren't vegan. They also sprinkle white chocolate shavings on top of the whipped cream. What a decadent treat -- perfect for the winter months. They also offer slushies, which you can also order to-go, which Is offer a refreshing light option for the summer months. They have some light appetizers and Some seasonal specials. They had just launched just launched a new soup on our visit I went to my friends ordered it and enjoyed it very much. Another member of our party loved her avocado toast come on and we all enjoyed nibbling on the charcuterie. Service was attentive but not overbearing, And we really loved the vibe of the Pandora station this station they were playing (lots of Erykah Badu!) It's been awesome seeing so many black owned businesses thrive in this Edison neighborhood block -- It sure would be nice if the city would finally complete the the road construction that's made it so difficult to access these businesses for so many months. Pro tip: approach the business from the East on Washington, and turn left into the alleyway right before Portage Street ton acres Twine's parking lot. Our group also Is really enjoyed a conversation starter game that was on our table. My husband and I love going to wine tasting rooms. Here in Kalamazoo, we found this place. We were the first customers of the day and were greeted by a young lady with a big smile and a friendly hello and a nice welcome. We chose the 4 glass flight and fell in love with two them. For eats we got the charcuterie board and it was perfect with the wines. Found out that this woman is the daughter of the owner! The interior was clean and not crowded with a lot of tables. We tried this fine establishment on a whim on a night everything else we had planned closed early due to the weather. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady when we walked in. We also walked into a fully packed venue. We were immediately accommodated at the tasting bar. And hosted by the amazing owner/wine maker herself. I wish I would have asked her name. She was also the one to welcome us into her venue. Everything we tasted was better than the one prior. And she even promotes other local entrepreneurs. Like Huey D's Goodies. The turtle cheesecake we had was, quoting our youngest son, "was demicious"! I'm so happy our day turned out the way it did, and we ended up at your awesome winery. We will definitely be back.
