First of all, the gym is big, which I like because there is plenty of room and you're not on top of one another. One side is for crossfit classes and the other side is for their olympic lifters (which this gym has an impressive amount of olympic lifters). They also have a green in the back which is always a plus for a gym to have (to push prowler's down and what not). Also, there is plenty of equipment which is nice. I've been to gyms where there isn't enough equipment to go around - the equipment is also high quality! Terry (the head trainer) is awesome too! Very kind, very inviting, knows his stuff. He really promotes working on your form and focusing on your personal goals rather than racing to beat the person next to you. His programming though, is by far some of the best programming I've ever seen. I crossfit at least 5 days / week, and I've been doing it for 2 years .... both times I have left Crossfit FAST, the workouts kicked my behind (which i love as that is why I pay for this!) I initially had a 1 year membership, and during the 11th month, I contacted the owner through email telling him I wanted to cancel my membership after the 12th month had been billed. He didn't respond, so once the 12th month of my membership came up, I followed up with another email, phone call, AND text message, no answer on ANY of my attempts. The next month, I was billed AGAIN. I sent an email politely asking what had happened, but again, no reply. Thankfully, I got things squared away (without any help from the owner of the gym.) The gym itself is fine, equipment is alright, though most of the good equipment seen there is owned by someone else and locked up in storage. (When the owner marketed that it was his own equipment.) Hopefully for future members, they are treated with proper respect as a paying member of the gym. Because the gym itself isn't bad, just the owner has some very suspect business practices.

The Westlake classes are smaller, which means you have more of a personal training experience. This would be good for those looking for smaller class sizes. They do also offer the option to be a member at both locations. At the Agora location they offer fight camp. I like to go back and forth between the two depending on what I'm looking for that day. Don't be fooled, this is way more then a gym. It's a workout community with supportive and likeminded individuals. This is an investment in your health you will never regret. My friend was a member and I belonged to another gym but after he invited me to try a class I was hooked and now there is no turning back. Hardcore fitness is a family vibe. I gained strength and confidence, while losing inches off my body. My favorite part of the 60 day challenge was the supportive community of other participants. I've been doing Orangetheory on and off for about 10 years (started at the Northridge studio), and since moving out to the area I've been coming to this location more consistently the past few years -- and I genuinely can't recommend this studio enough. Every coach I've taken here has been great, but shoutout to Koda and Julia -- they're amazing. They're not the type to just stand at the mic and call out times -- they're constantly circulating on the weight floor, helping with form, giving adjustments, and making sure you're doing movements safely and effectively. I also really appreciate that if you stop for a second (we've all been there ), they'll check in and encourage you without making it uncomfortable. It feels supportive, not pushy -- and it helps you keep going. I've also dealt with a knee injury in the past, and I really appreciate how willing the coaches are to offer options and modifications. After my knee injury and surgery, I actually started on the bike and gradually worked my way back up to the treadmill once my doctor gave me the green light. I also love that they offer the elliptical as another option -- it makes the workouts feel really adaptable no matter where you're starting from. A lot of people mention the weights may not feel "heavy enough" if you're someone who wants to lift super heavy, but for me it's more than enough. The workout is so well programmed that I still feel challenged every time. The front desk staff deserves a shoutout too -- they are SO warm and welcoming, and they're flexible and lenient when life happens and you need help with anything. It's one of those studios where people actually learn your name the more you come, and you start recognizing the same faces in class -- it ends up feeling like a little community. Logistics and amenities are also a big plus: Easy parking, super clean studio, well-maintained equipment, two single-use bathrooms, two showers (huge if you're heading to work after), and two filtered water stations. Ambience is also just... chef's kiss. Working out under the orange lights at 5:15am hits different -- it's a whole vibe. Yes, Orangetheory is an investment, but for me the unlimited membership is worth it because the more consistently I go, the more I see and feel a real transformation. I'm doing the Transformation Challenge right now (and part of it is posting a Yelp review), but I'd be saying all of this regardless -- I recommend Orangetheory Westlake Village to anyone who asks what I'm doing for workouts. This gym is community-driven. Every coach there is insanely knowledgeable and very passionate - you can truly tell they love what they do and care about helping members surpass their goals. Even in a group class setting, they still take the time to work with each individual. No matter where you're at, everyone is supportive and encouraging. The positive energy radiates through this place unlike anything I've experienced. The programming is both fun and challenging, and there are thoughtful scaling options for every workout. So everyone can safely train while being challenged. The gym itself is exceptionally maintained which directly reflects the pride the coaches and owners take in the box. CFTO also offers 1-on-1 training tailored to what you want to work on. I have had the greatest opportunity to work with Jeremy over the past few months on Olympic lifting, and those sessions have become my favorite part of the week.
