I was looking for a tailor in the area and based on the other reviews I read, this place jumped out at me. I am SO glad I gave this place a chance because I was more than impressed! I took a very delicate lace skirt that was almost 2 sizes too big on me and needed to have it taken in. Urek was FANTASTIC! He took the skirt in on both sides and in the waist as well and the end result = it fits like a glove! You cannot even tell that it's been tailored...it's like I bought it in the perfect size to fit like it was made for me! He was able to have it done in less than a week too which is impressive! I live around the corner from this shop so when my fiancé needed his suit altered we wanted to give it a try. Their store opens at 10:00am and so we showed up and waited, and waited, and waited until the owner/tailor arrived 15 minutes late with not even the slightest as an apology. He then proceeded to tell us that it would take 2 weeks to shorten the hem on his suit pants and shorten the length of the sleeve. I asked if there was any way, even with a rush fee if we can have it sooner. His response, "I just told you it would be two weeks". He is rude and extraordinary unpleasant to have a conversation with. Will never refer this place, will never give this place business, will never walk into this store ever again. read more

I used to go to this tailor when he was on Dearborn, then he moved, I forgot where he went and was forced to get my tailoring at various cleaners and other tailors around the city. Recently a friend was talking about a tailor they found and low and behold it was my old tailor. Mega Tailor is the best. He's honest, can do magic on anything, and prices are reasonable. Certainly you can bring your jeans for original hem, but he's really the guy you want to bring your coat to for a new lining, shortening and refitting your suits and dresses, and reconstructing old to make it new again. He works on leather, fur and all the rest (Sorry PETA folks). read more

I took pants to be hemmed. They were returned with a hem that dragged on the floor. I thought perhaps I had worn the wrong flat soles shoes, so I took them back. The owner offered to split the cost of rehemming with me. My husband picked them up for me. Owner wanted to charge full price. I wanted to wear them to an event but can't because they are the same as before with buckling material at my ankles and the hem dragging on the floor when I am wearing heels. I'll never go back and neither should you. I have to take them someplace else and pay a third time to have them hemmed. I would have been better off doing it myself and it would have been quicker. read more

Not the most polite man, acts as if he doesn't want to be there. I took a skirt that needed just a tiny bit off of the sides. After a week of waiting I picked it up and was surprised it cost $25. For the little I had done I thought $15 at the most. Normally the tailor offers me the opportunity to try it on to make sure it was done to my liking. He just gave it to me and mumbled $25. I had to ask him to repeat because I had no idea what he said. Also, it would have been nice if when I left my skirt there he let me know that he does not take credit cards. I will be looking for another tailor because $25 for the tiny 5 sec work my skirt needed was too much money. read more

I have been working with Urek for years now, simply because he does wonderful work and charges fair prices. I have had him work on just about everything you can think of in terms of men's apparel. I've had him alter leather and suede jackets, suits, shirts, you name it. He has done some pretty complicated work including converting pleated pants on an Oxxford suit to flat fronts. If you have ever seen how Oxxford constructs their pants, you would understand how much work that is (the pockets are sewn in to an internal waistband that is then stitched to the outer waistband for the actual trousers). I pretty much bring everything to him now, even things I buy that fit well, I take to him and have him touch up slightly, and they end up looking much better for a small investment. He has a great guy, and a very nice way about him. Highly recommended. read more

I just attempted to use Mega Tailor to have a dress altered. I had gone into the shop several days earlier to set up an appointment for the weekend, so I was looking forward to it. The older man at the desk was a little rough around the edges when I first went in but I thought perhaps it had been a long day, etc. I am in customer service so I understand that clients can be difficult and can lead to difficult, long days. Thus I did not hold it against him. When I went in today, I had my dress and asked him to take a look at it and give me an estimate to see if it was worth tailoring or if it was too difficult to work with because of the style and fabric. This man scoffed at me once I had the dress on, was rude when he asked me what exactly I was looking for, told me it was a horrible dress because it would be horrible to work with and then, when I asked for a written estimate, he told me that I was being irrational and asking stupid questions and overtly rolled his eyes at me. Needless to say, I will never be going back there again and I will do my best to share this experience with anyone who is looking for a tailor. Obviously, Mega Tailors Inc does not need any more customers. read more

First and foremost Uriek was not a friendly person. But nasty attitude alone should not result in a bad review. I needed two slacks shortened and even brought in a page from GQ showing exactly what I wanted and wore the dress shoes I would be using to get an accurate length. I tried on the first pair and showed him the magazine page, while he was making the adjustments he threw the page on the couch and said, " I've been doing this a long time, trust me". I then commented they were still too long and he became irate and said, "you have to let me do my job'. Very well Uriek! I figured he knew what he was doing and gave him the benefit of the doubt. A week later I picked up my slacks, paid the man and get the same ugly attitude. Needless to say, it was not what i asked for when i tried them on at home. Shame on me for trying a new tailor and believing in his skill. Only good thing about Mega Tailors is the stitching on the hem of the pant..Too many tailors in the city such as The Tailor Shop on LaSalle with much better customer service and skill. Why didn't I try them on while I picked them up? well he threw them in the dry cleaning plastic bag once I told him what i was picking up and with that unpleasant attitude, I just wanted to get out of there. If he didnt listen the first time, why would I allow him to keep messing up my slacks. read more

Urek didn't know if he was going to be able to make it fit, but sure enough, it fits like a glove. He was able to do it quickly for me and was very fair with the price. I have been going to Urek for years. I don't know what other tailors charge and I don't care. Urek does superb work. He has shortened sleeves on my cashmere sweaters by taking the entire sleeve off, shortening it at the shoulder, and sewing it back on so the cuff is the original cuff. Magic. It looks like it was made that way, no bulk no indication that it was shortened. Whatever he does is top notch sewing. People call him and ask for a estimate on the phone. They are shopping for bargains. This is not a bargain shop. This is a quality shop. Bring anything here to be mended, shortened, lengthened or taken in. Called to get a price for a gown hemming and he was extremely rude! He laughed and said he doesn't know how much it would be because he has to see the dress. Most places can tell you a price range and some places have set alteration prices. This is unacceptable and no one has to do business with a rude ass! There isn't anyone better in the city. I have been using Mega Tailors since Urik first opened the business on Dearborn. Urik is very talented, he does wonders with my clothes when I need them refitted......you know lose a few ......gain a few or my favorite, buy a dress that you love that doesn't fit and somehow he works his magic and it fits. I feel violated after picking up my alterations from this place! While the work he did was nice, and I can forgive his rude demeanor (I don't need the warm and fuzzies), I cannot forgive the price tag! I just picked up two pieces of clothing that he had altered, one dress and one jumpsuit. All he did was hem both pieces, and stitched up a V neck to make it a little more work appropriate. for $75! $25 for each alteration/hem. If you need something basic, like a hem or stitch, I wouldn't waste your time here, unless you like being totally ripped off. read more
