DON'T DO IT!!! Paid $34 each way to go from Vegas to California for a family barbecue. Bus was 10 minutes late (in 107 temp.) and not a MegaBus, a very old Coach Lines Bus! Requested disability assistance as I am 6 weeks post total knee replacement surgery. 6 steps into the bus - absolutely NO ASSISTANCE OF ANY KIND. This was my second time taking Megabus. I had never heard of it before last year. Apparently, it's big on the east side of the states, but not on the west side. Then I looked it up. I found out from LA, it goes to Vegas. I'm not a party bus girl, so this fit my objective. It leaves from Union Station. Stay on the east side and you'll be ok. Their stop is conveniently located above parking. Once you arrive, you will receive a number for boarding. Leave your luggage, easy breezy boarding, on our way. From Vegas it leaves from the South Strip Terminal. Beware of the PMSing Megabus Man, Anthony, who makes everyone stand in the sun for an hour before boarding. Been going back and gorth between Vegas & L.A. 1-2 times a week for the last 2 months. Every trip but 2 have been on time. The inconsistency with boarding, depending on if its a new driver and not letting Reserved Seats board first. Thats the way it almost always is then you get a new or rebellious driver that changes it up. I pay the extra fee for a Reserved Seat just for tge convenience of boarding first. All loaders/CS agrnts need to take a lesson from the 2 employees that work L.A. Union Station on the 9:30 pm departure. They are consistent and do it right every time. Drivers need to explain to riders that the numbered seats are Reserved Seats, and not just anyone can sit there. Sone drivers do lay down the law, but very few. Thus line will be another Greyhound in a matter of months! read more

I decided to give megabus a try to give myself a break from having to drive back and forth visiting my family. I have got to say, this bus can provide so much. There is included wifi on the bus and A/C plugs for laptops. I think it's very useful for folks that have work to do. Ride does tend to go faster than expected. I got to LA 40mins before the expected arrive time. Prices do flex depending on when you decide to purchase your ticket. Overrall, I see myself using this service much much more now. Megabus was my transportation to LA a few months back. They were pretty good, too the point where I'm thinking about giving them another try. I got my tickets there and back for 15 bucks! They had a couple stops there and back, with decent waiting times to get food and go to the restroom. They had chargers on the bus and WiFi. This was pretty good. Times were a bit late but nothing wrong with that! Was a little bit cramped but that's when the breaks came in clutch & there's bathrooms on the bus as well! read more

That's when you know this is not the type of bus you should be on. Gave this company one more shot, and they lost me as a rider completely. Megabus you have earned my respect.... This second time around leaving out of Las Vegas I actually got to ride the Megabus and was very pleased with the ride aside a couple bothersome things. Even thou we where an hour early for the 7pm departure there where about 15 people ahead of us this time around. We still manage to get the seating I had wanted to for the ride home which was the lower deck of the bus with the table that seats four, it's more comfortable because you can stretch out your legs and you have the table for your drinks, phones-that are plugged into the outlets in the middle of your seats, it's closer to the restroom and usually on the way back scene is last on your mind and sleep is. It seemed like it was going to be a great ride ......................Until & I'm sorry but till 2 men got on and sat across from us, basically scaring the crap out of the very much proper Korean couple that shared their 4 area seating with table. Since this is not a flight, they don't check your luggage or are you checked so I was shocked when I saw them start to do drugs right there on the table.. at that point I made my nephew switch with me and gave my boyfriend that ( if $hit goes down, you got my back look) 2 hours into the trip and obviously the drugs kicked in one of them decided to pull out his 3 inch knife to cut off the label on his water bottle..to my surprise they where very polite when they asked me for the time and kept to themselves. Awful is the nicest way to put it. Road Megabus Friday 04-20-2018 from Las Vegas to Anaheim, CA. Received a email from Megabus about 2 hours prior to the scheduled depart time saying (I will copy and past to not misquote them) "The estimated delay time is 2 hours from:" From the time of this email? From Las Vegas? From the scheduled depart time? Called Megabus, the CSR repeated the email to me... So I asked if I should show up at noon instead of 10 AM. "You should stand by at the normal time for the bus." Arrived at the South Strip transfer terminal which is nicer then I expected but wasn't where I wanted to hang out on a Friday. The bus finally arrived at 11:40 AM. Great, We're finally on our way. NOPE. We sat there until 12:15 with the AC turned off in the bus. I guess they wanted to make sure after having us stand around the bus terminal for and hour and 40 minutes, they might as well make sure we were the full 2 hours late. Good news was the WiFi on the bus didn't work nor did the onboard entertainment system but that's okay because now we were going to hit rush hour traffic in Los Angeles as we made 3 stops (Los Angeles, Riverside then Anaheim. Received an email from Megabus about 3:00 AM Saturday morning saying they were looking into what happened and that they would make it up to me and to keep an eye out for further emails explaining how they would make it right. I usually bus to LA as it's far cheaper then flying and when NOT on Megabus only takes about 90 minutes longer when you factor in dealing with the airports. Rather than driving to california yourself, taking the megabus is a bargain! Seriously $40 trip to a $25 trip is a no brainer. I usually get a price $12 to $25 a trip within a week of booking. But if you book something in the next three months then it is possible for the $1 ticket. The place isn't too hard to miss, but it is easy to mistake it for the mccarran car rental. Just look for the buses pulling in and it's not that hard to miss. The bus itself is really clean, BUT BEWARE BRING A JACKET! IT GETS SUPER COLD. They have outlets and wifi both of which I had no problems with. Wifi is surprisingly fast. The bus operators I've were all great people too; cracking jokes in the beginning and end of the bus stop. Pro tip: Arrive early as the bus leaves promptly. Dress like its winter. read more

Absolutely awful. Is zero stars a thing yet? I reserved my ticket for the beginning of May back in February, as well as reserving a specific seat, to go from Las Vegas to LA. The confirmation e-mail said that passengers were required to be there 15 minutes before departure time, which was a little vague but whatever. Didn't think much of it. I arrived at my bus stop about 15 minutes in advance, and THE ENTIRE BUS WAS ALREADY NEARLY FULL. I told the bus driver I had a reserved seat, and he said he would get to me. By the time they got to me and a few people around me, they told us the bus was oversold and full. HOWEVER, there were two women who arrived after me who told him they had reserved seats, and they were allowed on the bus. We also found out that two people who were unable to get on their bus earlier were put on the bus as well. I reiterated to the bus driver that I also had a reserved seat, and he told me and the 6 other people to hold on while he called customer service. Ten minutes later, he returned and told us they would put us on the next bus departing at 6:30PM, which was 5 hours later (and would probably be displacing 6 other people who are actually SUPPOSED to be on that bus, aka exactly what was happening right now). We asked why people who missed their last bus got priority over people who were actually supposed to be on this bus who arrived on time, and he was incredibly dismissive and wouldn't answer us. I asked why he would put someone in MY seat that I specifically reserved, and again, was dismissive and waved me off. He repeatedly answered "call customer service" before getting on the bus and leaving. I got in touch with MegaBus, who refused to refund my ticket for not allowing me on a bus that I reserved a seat for months ago, showed up on time for, and was not allowed to board because THEY overbooked it. All they offered me was a voucher. That's it. I've never dealt with a more unprofessional, disorganized, disappointing service in my life. Totally sold on the Megabus experience! As a native Angeleno now ensconced in the 'burbs of Las Vegas - I need to get back home every once in a while. With gas prices terribly high and my car nearly 10 years old - the new Megabus service seemed like the way to go. I booked about 3 weeks in advance and got round-trip tickets for 14.00 plus a .50 service charge. UNBELIEVABLE! A friend had told me to show up early if I wanted a good seat - so I got to the Terminal about 45 minutes early. This placed me about 3rd in line. It was a little confusing to figure out which bus bay the Megabus left from (it's Bay 9 BTW) - until some of the more rough-looking denizens that hang out at the station were nice enough to tell me where to go. The bus was new and clean - the seats comfy enough for a 5-hour ride. I couldn't connect to the WiFi for some reason - but appreciated the A/C plug for my cell phone. There are eight seats on the lower level that face two tables - those are the choice seats in my opinion! The trip was non-stop (expect for a quick drop-off in Riverside) and we even got into Union Station a half-hour early! Great job Megabus! Looks like I'll be able to go home more often! read more

DON'T MISS YOUR BUS. For the sweet love of all that is delicious and good, do not miss your bus. Be there at least 15 minutes early so that if you're late, you're still on time! I missed the bus for a Vegas to LA by 5 minutes and bam, it was long gone. This meant trying to transfer my paid reservation ($5 charge, credit card only and their machine was down) and then waiting on stand by while the next bus 4 hours later was filled with customers. If it's full, you won't get on! As for the ride itself, it was like being in a clean charter bus. The chairs were a little tight but comfortable, each seat had an AC outlet that worked like a charm. The AC was good and didn't make the ride feel stuffy. I thought it was cute that the roof was see through- you can probably have a nice storm watch if it were raining. Wifi was super slow but working. Your luggage is loaded underneath the bus and tagged if there's two stops (riverside & LA, for example) but if you bring something small, you can try to fit it under your chair. I had a duffel that I kept with me and was thankful I didn't have to wait for them to unload my bag. The ride was almost 4.5 hours from Vegas to Riverside (downtown metrolink station) with no stops. Still cheaper than flying or driving on my own, so I would seriously consider taking this for future trips! Go megabus! read more

There are times I will fly into Vegas and leave my return to Los Angeles open ended (since often I will go broke early and want to return). There are Megabus and Bolt Bus which both depart from the South Transfer Terminal...and Greyhound which departs from the Plaza Hotel in Downtown. I've never taken the Greyhound because it doesn't arrive at Union Station and I would recommend that it should be avoided. Megabus was convenient because there is a 12:30AM redeye departure for LA each day (total of 4 departures a day). A cab ride to this station would cost a fortune (over $30 from the strip) so if you are not carrying heavy luggage, take the 109 or SDX bus from the strip or downtown here. Once at the terminal there is a lobby where you can stay at until 10pm and after that time a small part is open with restrooms (which are clean). Megabus departs from Bay 9 which will have an attendant present. Be there 15 minutes in advance because the bus is known to leave right on time. The bus has a separate rear compartment for luggage checkin, and then you will sit on the first or second deck. I found the upper deck to be very comfortable and slept most of the way. Much of the service you get seem to depend on the driver (some may drive too slow or too fast) but it is a viable service. Long distance bus travel is a foreign thing to Californians but it is a way of life for East Coast folks and taking the bus from LA to Vegas or LA to SF, is a convenient thing to do (when a car is not required). I never use the bathroom inside of a bus but there is one. Wifi works from time to time but would not rely on it. Just try and sleep, there is nothing fun outside to see or do, and the objective would be try and kill the 5-6 hour time on the bus. The bus will stop once in Barstow for a quick bathroom/snack break and sometimes a driver change. Both BoltBus and MegaBus cost roughly the same and depart and arrive at the same place (BoltBus is not a double decker) so pick based on time. Both services have four departures, so you have 8 to pick from. Buy the ticket(s) on your phone and then show the driver. read more

Megabus is a cheap way to get a direct bus to California. Sometimes I take it to Riverside or to Los Angeles and it gets there just about as fast as driving out in a car. I won't use Greyhound as they stop in several places (and some routes have "lunch stops" for bus routes that came from far away and through Vegas) which make it such a long ride and costs more. Prices usually have been $20ish for one way. It used to be cheaper the last time I used it and now it seems to be steady at $29. Still better than a plane ticket to my moms area which was going to be $150 this trip vs the $59. A plane only saves me about 90 of time as I have to be there early then board even though the ride itself is just 1 hour. I try to nap or get my game on so it's not even a big deal. Both trips I've gone on have been uneventful and fine so I'm happy with that trend continuing. Boring and no problems arising always would be great. Out of my trips only 1 did I need to sit next to someone as the bus was near capacity heading home to Vegas (it was close to a holiday weekend). Often I get the 2 seats to myself so I can stretch out. Out of the 4 buses only 1 did not have power outlets. The WiFi seems to work, but cellphones can have trouble as you have to physically get it to connect to its webpage, but my iPad had no problem with connecting automatically to the webpage. It's not very fast, but it's better than nothing in the desert dead zones. If you didn't pay to reserve a seat, I would try to be there early to select a seat. Of course there are your share of loud and obnoxious people so I generally try to seat far away from them. Also bring music/headphones just in case. I find normally the seats downstairs to have more quiet since they are often the reserved seats (with tables), popular with elderly and fewer seats. I hope that it stays this way as I really don't mind the bus so long as my experiences stay uneventful and the prices don't creep up. read more

If I could give NO STARS I would! My son is on this bus today and it broke down 90 minutes into the trip. They are now approaching 2 hours simply waiting with NO a/c for a replacement bus and/or mechanic. I called their corporate office and their customer service is horrid! They lied to me and said that the mechanic and replacement bus was already there. AAARRRGGHHHHH! Once exposed that I was communicating with my son on another cell, corporate would not give me ANY details regarding where the replacement bus is coming from so I can gauge for myself whether it makes sense for me to pick him up. The key to the boardibg process: get here 30 mins early and track down the mega bus luggage attendant and get a numbered card. You board the bus based on your number, which the bus driver calls out, not on your place in line which will start to form about 20 mins before your bus arrives. This gives you the chance to sit in the shade and wait it out until the bus arrives. You can hang around the front of the line and dont have to wait in line behind everyone until your number is called. If you have a reserved seat or a red card they will call you first so listen for the guy yelling. The ticket was only $14 and they had one option for a $7 ticket but it left too late/early for my schedule. read more

Love megabus! Where else can you find such cheap transportation? Every six months I book my father a bus trip out to Las Vegas from Riverside. If you book it six weeks in advance you can get it super cheap. And when I say cheap, I mean cheap. Twice I've booked him his trip out here for less than five bucks round trip. Can you believe it?! The most expensive I've ever booked it was 25 each way which ultimately cost me 50 bucks. Thats still a good price in my opinion. The double decker bus is large, has a bathroom, has free wifi, nice cold air conditioning, and heat. It's never overly crowded which tells me that its still cureently one of the best kept transportation secrets. From Las Vegas it also goes to Los Angeles. So if you would like to go there instead of riverside you can, for the same price. Give mega bus a try I can't see it being disappointing. read more

This trip was pretty bad overall. Was it cheaper than a plane ticket on a Sunday coming back from Vegas? Yes. But that's where the benefits stopped. First, I've never taken Megabus so I didn't know where exactly I needed to pick up my ticket. I asked the guy at the security counter and he seemed so disgusted at my asking a basic question that he could honestly barely get an answer out. The contempt all over his face was completely unwarranted. Great service megabus. Then, as others here have stated, this bus does not have outlets for chargers, as is advertised. So if you need to charge anything for the 6 hour ride, you're screwed. Thanks for the false advertising megabus. On to the ride. So you can turn off the overhead AC vents. However, there is a side vent above that that you can't, that just blasts air on you the whole way. 6+ hours under direct AC with no way to turn it off was lovely. I'm sure I'll be sick now because of it. To top it off, megabus had to go all the way to LA first, from the 60/57 junction instead of just going to Anaheim which was 10 min away at that point. So I had to sit on the bus while it backtracked all the way back to Anaheim from LA. What sense did this make? Oh and the bus was 45 min late arriving at Anaheim. Good job megabus. I honestly wish I would have just paid the $200+ dollars to fly after this experience. read more

It was my first time taking megabus and I don't know if I was just extremely unlucky but it was hell. I was on the Sunday 3:15 bus headed from Las Vegas to Union Station (Los Angeles) with the eta being 8:45. My husband and I arrived around 3pm, got on to a bus that was already almost completely full (77 people in total) and took our seats. It was extremely hot in the bus but I assumed it'd cool down when the bus was in motion. We started making our trip to LA but the bus didn't cool down! We were all sweating profusely- it felt like a steam sauna in there and there was no air circulation! To make things worse, there were no outlets, which were advertised to be available. Several people started complaining to the bus driver and even called the corporate offices to complain but was offered no solution. The next thing I know, we pull over to the side of the freeway when a passenger runs out of the bus and is having a panic attack of some sort and is hyperventilating. The state troopers are parked behind us by this point and are assessing the situation. One of the troopers comes into the bus and tells the bus driver that everyone needs to be disembarked because it's a safety hazard traveling in this heat! Then the bus was escorted by a state trooper to the nearest casino (41 miles away from the strip) and we were stuck there until a replacement megabus came. My husband called megabus headquarters asking for a refund but they told them they'd get back to him in thirty minutes (didn't happen). It seemed like other people had the same idea but were not successful in really talking to anyone or getting a refund. Finally a replacement bus arrived after 2 hours (still no outlets but atleast the ac was working..) and we headed back to LA. We arrived close to midnight, which was three hours later than when we were supposed to! I heard that some people missed their flights out of LAX, and other people who had connecting busses, trains, and subways to their final destination were having difficulties because the last train/subway/bus had already left. Not only that, most of us have work/school starting early Monday morning and we are going back extremely exhausted! I'm sure the majority of us chose this trip because we SHOULD have arrived before 9pm which would have been plenty of time for everyone to unpack, wash up, and get plenty of sleep before starting the week. Despite the good things I've previously heard, taking the megabus was the worst decision we made and it completely ruined an amazing weekend we had with our friends. Lesson learned, I will be shelling out a few extra bucks and fly back and forth from Vegas. I'm still waiting for my refund and will update this review once (if) we hear back from corporate. read more

Buses constantly break down, no communication about adjustments for late arrival/departure times, poor customer service both in person and online. The only pro is the somewhat cheaper price you'd get than booking a flight. But if you book a flight early enough in advance, it makes the megabus irrelevant. Skip this place. Overall I was disappointed with our experience. We took it from LA to Vegas and then back to LA again. The attendants in LA are much more organized than the ones in Vegas. In Vegas it was 116° and we had to wait in line for an hour, because the attendants didn't have tickets so we had to stand in line to save our place. They ripped my brand new suit case and didn't care when they handed it to me that way. The driver from LA was nice, the one from Vegas was grumpy. The bus was clean, wifi didn't work, A/C wasn't cold enough. The seats were kind of small, not much leg room and there were way too many people onboard. It stops through Riverside, which really extends an already long bus ride. From Vegas to LA we departed at 3:15pm and arrived at 9pm, nearly 6 hours. We totalled 8 hours of travel time from our hotel to home. This wasn't the worst experience ever, but I'll probably spend the few extra bucks next time and take Luxbus instead. read more

Edit: I lowered my rating from 3 stars to 2 after the bus ride from hell on Wednesday the 21st. You guys need to fire whatever bus driver was working the 7pm bus from Vegas to LA. This guy was driving sooooo fast, that every time he hit any type of dip on the freeway, it would cause the entire bus to lurch up and practically send the passengers flying up if their seats! He was weaving in and out of traffic and coming up behind cars and trucks so fast that I thought he would run into them. We were over an hour early due to his erratic driving. I mean, I like being early. But I don't enjoy being fearful and unsafe the entire ride!! I take megabus to Vegas once a month. Only because it was about half the price of a ticket I could find on spirit airlines. First time I took it, it was $26! Not bad. Since then, it's risen (in 3 months) to about $60. Which is the price of a cheap spirit airlines ticket. Looks like airlines are the way to go! I guess it wouldn't be so bad if the employees were nicer and there wasn't threats of fights happening by customers almost every trip. Mostly customers wanting to fight employees cause the employees at so rude!! They are a little bit nicer in LA. But when I leave Vegas it's almost a sh** show ever time. There's one lady who is always muttering insults under her breath about the customers, throwing the luggage around, arguing with customers and doesn't smile once. It's so obvious she hates her job. If you are debating between bolt and mega bus, stick with BOLT BUS. Mega bus is inefficient, has poor customer service, and is not punctual. I was on the LV-Riverside-LA track. We left LV 30 min late because the driver was resolving multiple various issues with irate customers, holding up the check in line. We stop in Barstow for a break, told to return to the bus 30 min later. That time arrives and people are still leisurely walking in. We end up taking a total of 45 min break. Unnecessary! We are running approx 2 hours late. Moreover, the wifi and outlet plugs they brag about are nonexistent. Wifi doesn't work, no outlet plugs in sight. Ridiculous! Choose another bus company! UPDATE: 9/20/16 I submitted a complaint thru the website asking for a partial refund, received a general automated response, no acknowledgement of a possible refund. I called customer service and would not let me speak to someone about a refund. They said whatever response I received on the site was the response. I will be disputing their charge. read more

Paid $31 with tax for a one way ticket from Vegas to LA. Left Vegas at 12:30am exactly and arrived at Union Station at 5:20am. The ride had two different drivers and the first driver from Vegas to Barstow was slow, but the driver from Barstow to Riverside and then on to LA was pretty fast. When you are trying to sleep the seats are not the most comfortable and with all the bumps, usually buses have a smooth ride but this was not smooth at all. I couldn't wait to get off and be home. I tried to sleep but was waking up with all the movement. Riders were from all walks of life, I didn't hear or see anyone getting into fights, we were all tired I guess. Yes the bus has outlets but why on earth would you mount them between the seats? Trying to charge my phone and get comfortable didn't go together, outlet is right at your knees... Wifi was available but it seemed ok, I truly didn't need it since I have a data plan. As for the green light above everyone... Turn them off so people can sleep! Figured they would have a dimmer or placed them in another location. Will I use it again... My last resort. read more

First Time Taking Megabus! LAS VEGAS TO LOS ANGELES Went 2 fashion show mall. Thinking I was Taking the Blue and yellow bus. Driver Was Very professional uniform dress to impress. Very helpful took our luggage and put below bus. I felt very lucky to get in a beautiful bus. Blue lights Very clean and smell good. We were lucky to have a cool Driver (Shannon) Extremely patient with the passengers. The driver was prompt on her times and got me to the union Station in Los Angeles Ca. A hour before our arrival time. I will request that driver again. Safe driver she knew how to operate this big Bus. I was very impress with a girl driver. read more

One star is way to many. We booked tickets before mid night and they canceled the trip after 6am and notified us via email instead of calling!!!! My gf and I ended up renting car from hertz to continue our journey, This company sux and I make sure I'd never use them again! read more

I had a great experience traveling from LA to Las Vegas. I had a reserved seat...cost $16 becauseI booked less than two weeks out...that was my fault. Would give five stars except the WiFi, though apparently there, provided no internet connection...then what's the point of having it? Other passengers were pleasant. One pit stop for 20 minutes in Barstow was welcome. I hope my trip back is equally as good. That reserved seat is only $6 due to my getting it two weeks in advance. read more

Think of it as a public metro bus, only you're on it forever!!! You get what you pay for... $40 can barely buy lunch, so I really shouldn't be surprised that a commute to LA at that price would be less than pleasant. I guess I'd be less disappointed if it were just called CRAPPYBUS, and there was an honest disclosure that WIFI doesn't work, and your bus may have no power outlets... And those amenities aren't guaranteed... then I'd leave at least 3 stars for honesty. read more

This company basically hires mentally unstable people who decide not to fix problems with their busses so that they 'break down' in the middle of the trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles so that the driver can get their fix of social interaction. It's been over two and a half hours with still no word on whether or not a mechanic is actually coming or whether or not the driver from Vegas left. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I took this bus It was horrible worst bus ride I have ever taken. The bus was 2 hours late which made me miss my return bus and when you call them to discuss the situation customer service just keeps hanging up in your face their customer service is worst than the bus ride. This company cares nothing about satisfiying customers at all. The tickets are cheap but people PLEASE BEWARE and read the reviews first sometimes saving $10 is just not worth it. The good: free WiFi, power outlets and decent seats . You can reserve selected seats for additional fees. The bad: not the most spacious seats The ugly: charged us $20 extra for our carry-ons since he thought they were too big to be carry-ons even though they're average carry-ons we usually put on airplanes. I guess it depends on luck though (and the guy who checks you in). read more
