I got a couple of nice surprises. First, I expected a little shuttle van but instead a large new coach arrived. Second, I expected the bus to be half empty, it was almost completely full. The driver, sorry I forgot his name (Tony?) kept making funny remarks, singing on the mic (sounds terrible but funny), etc. He drove safely and that's was most important to me. Lake Mead and Hoover Dam area is so beautiful. The driver let us off at Hoover Dam for about 2 hours, I think. It was plenty of time to walk across the bridge, walk through other areas crossing from NV to AZ, to see the dam from different angles. The souvenir shop and café for lunch were opened. The interior dam was not due to pandemic closures. Maybe I'll get to go inside next time. The weather (April) was beautiful. Just right - not too hot or cold but it was somewhat windy. Ran into one of your drivers outside the Carlsbad flower fields. Absolutely no regard for the law or common decency when parking illegally. The area he decided to park in is only designed for two charter buses, and he was the third. In his illegal parking, he trapped our car parked in the handicap accessible space with the back half of his bus parked across the ADA path with a giant "NO PARKING" written sign in bold on the ground under the last 6-7 feet of his bus. We asked him to move explaining that not only did he block us in, he was parked over the hash marks as well, and we wanted to get out. He immediately gets defensive and blamed the fact that a motorcycle parked in front of the space, on the other side of a cement barrier, was the reason we could not get out, not the fact that he was illegally blocking the ADA path, and parked us in. I told him repeatedly to move, he refused, claiming he could legally break a federal regulation. He continued to refuse until we got both a staff member of the flower fields and a security guard to instruct him of his illegality and force him to move forward. We will also be submitting a complaint under the ADA. Train your drivers to understand and obey the law better, not disrespect people living with a disability. read more
