The bus stopped at Kingston, at first they said only 15 mins then turned into 45 mins delay. And later it's an hour and then 3 hours delay at Kingston. Everyone was so upset and all they said were the next driver is on the way? On the way for 3 hours? Under this hot summer weather, we felt like we are dying, dehydrated. I would like to file a complaint with the company Megabus where the bus station in Montreal was impossible to find. There was no signs anywhere indicating how to get to the bus station from the metro. The signs should be large and have the same font style as the company logo so it's easy for anyone (nurotypical or atypical) can find the location. I used megabus several times, and this one travel I had created wasn't the correct station. Therefore I simply changed trips. Doing so, led to somehow creating a brand new ticket charging my credit card again. I called Customer Service and respondsMegabus said they will escalate to management which only respond through emails. The agent responds stating they will be in contact with me in 3-5 business days. I waited over a week and did not receive an email from management. I call back the following week and the agent is making up all sorts of nonsense comments such as the line was cut with the previous agent last week, there was no ticket made and no email has been sent out to management. They had wasted not only my time, but they are stealing 200$ from me. I had not used the Megabus on the dates I had booked it to avoid problems. I call back the following week to demand my refund and they said they cannot refund or give me another ticket for another trip on both trips. People keep referring to the single washroom in the Megabus waiting room and the lack of food options. What are you doing? Don't wait in line to use the sad little washroom here. Don't go hungry! Do yourself a favor and go up to Atrium Le 1000. Turn left on your way out the door (ie where the buses arrive and depart from) and there are revolving doors on the corner. There's an escalator that will take you to a wonderland of clean, abundant washrooms, free wifi, abundant seating, and tons of food court options. Also, the metro and an ice skating rink, because welcome to Canada. There's another food court and an underground mall connecting this to the main train station, but it's easy to get lost in the maze of underground shops. The Megabus waiting room itself is perfectly fine. It has a few plugs and a charging station. There are seats like the saddest waiting room you've ever encountered. There is a roof, heat, air conditioning. It beats waiting outside like in NYC. If you have extra time, go loiter upstairs. There is no reason to be in this waiting room any longer than you need to. Get here 30 minutes before your bus to give yourself ample time to line up inside the waiting room. Make the mistake of waiting outside and you'll find yourself boarding last. read more

So it's your waiting area for the Megabus. By the way, you can't wait outside at the bus stop, the lineup actually starts in the building. If you aren't aware of that, you'd be forced to the back of the line. I took the 9:00pm bus last night heading back to Toronto, and surprisingly only about 20 people on board. Definitely a lot more comfortable than the 12:30am midnight bus from Toronto, which was full right to every single seat. I do agree with Jennifer K., which is that there's not a lot of amenities around the waiting area. For around $30 one way, you really can't ask for much, they generally leave and arrive on time, and I never really had an issue with them. Some tips I would suggest.. 1. Arrive at least 30 mins before departure, they sometimes oversell the bus and you would be left waiting for the next one. 2. sit in the upper deck, I find there is more leg room there. 3. Buy your own food before you go 4. Use the toilet before you board the bus and during the stop over at Kingston if possible, the toilet on the bus is pretty bad. 5. This is the most important... I had a short vacation in Toronto and decided to try the recommended Megabus bus service for the trip back to Montreal via Toronto-Kingston-Montreal on Sept 1st, 2018. The bus was on time but I was not notified of which bus to take and had to take my own initiative to figure out which bus was the one I was supposed to be on. The bus left the terminal and we all were complaining about how hot it was. The bus driver pulled over after about 10 minutes and notified us that the air condition was not working. It must have been at least 40+ degrees Celsius on the bus and was uncomfortably hot. Everyone was complaining. It had a glass roof and it was a scorching hot and humid sunny day, the bus probably sat in the sun all day heating up and turning it into a sauna. There were no windows or doors that could be opened and I was on the upper deck under a glass roof. We made a detour in Scarborough to switch to a new bus even though that was not a planned stop. Because I was in such a hurry to leave this sauna of a bus I forgot my cherished 900$ smartphone in the fishnet holder on the seat in front. We boarded the second bus and when I saw the old bus pull away, I got a sense of dread as I realized I forgot my phone on it. I immediately told the driver what happened and exactly where I left the phone, and he contacted dispatch. He told me to contact them tomorrow about my lost item. We made it back to Montreal an hour and a half later than expected due to the detour. The next day I contacted customer service and spoke to someone who told me that customer service agents via the customer service phone number have no visibility on lost and found items, and routed me to a line that was only connected to an answering machine, and that there was no way to speak to a real person about lost items. The only way to submit an inquiry about lost items is to send an email or leave an answering machine message of which "someone will get around to it eventually". So far I left two email and two voicemail messages to Megabus Canada, and even contacted Megabus USA who created a customer issue order and sent it to Megabus Canada to be looked at. I've not heard one peep from them at all after more than 2 months. The funny thing is that I tracked my phone the next day after losing it and it went straight from the Scarborough station to a place called "Nap Station Toronto YYZ" which is, as far as I know, a place on the airport property. Also funny, the device was turned off after arriving so I know it was found and turned off. I gave up on getting the device back and I have no idea where it is now. Unfortunately Toronto police don't take reports for lost smartphones and my service provider can't track the device through IMEI. On the plus side, the fares are cheap, the seats are moderately comfy and there is free WiFi and movies on the ride. Bus driver was helpful but did not seem to speak fluent English. Will I use the service again? Maybe, but I will make damn sure I don't forget any items. read more

Booked a trip from Niagara falls to Toronto for 2 adults and 2 grand kids. When I founded out that we had no seats assignment, I called and was told to go to the Bus station earlier and see If the driver can do something for us. That option was not acceptable for our 7 and 9 years old kids and they started to panic thinking they might not be sitting with us. We had to find another option and I sent an email to megabus and I receive a form letter reply which has nothing to do with my situation and they refuse to refound me. What to say, well, I've traveled with both megabus and greyhound recently and I got to say, they're like polar opposites, except that they don't attract each other! So, I think megabus has a very user friendly website. It's quite easy to navigate and booking's very fast. Although, I must admit I was a little confused at the reserved seat part, but I figured it out. No big deal! The waiting space was ok. Not the cleanest chairs, but hey, im not going to start nit picking! The bus ride is what really killed me! My legs were sore and there were no feet rest. Called 800 number and the attendant was so unpolite to the point of turn off the phone because I requested him to give me a guaranty that my complain would be passed on to a supervisor or his manager. Tried to be reimbursed in order to use another transportation for my return trip due to the need I had for internet for this specific trip, but the attendant said: Since its free there is no way to refund 0 dollar. Their website mention that the wi-fi is available but its not the case, so regardless free or not they should refund at least a percentage. Extremely unprofessional young staff on a power trip. Today and last time I took mega bus about two weeks ago at this same Montreal branch... This young girl with short curly hair was yelling at everyone to stand up and get in line. Very dirty waiting areas. Very dirty bathrooms. Only a single bathroom for men and woman. No water fountain, pop machine, or anything. Then as loading into the bus after my partner showed the driver (bald guy) our tickets... He started yelling at him because he needed another number on the ticket which he was shown but didn't look at it. Then he started yelling at me because I was carrying my partners carry Inna onto the bus in which I actually had to calm him down so I could tell him that it was my partners bag. I tried purchasing some tickets to toronto with megabus but it kept rejecting my card. I have taken megabus 2wice and i have never had this issue. it kept saying the order could not be completed and my account was not charged. i tried a couple more times as i have already called my bank and they said nothing was wrong with the purchase. Alas, i opened my transaction only to discover megabus has taken. $500 from my account 4 times. My brother and I just returned from 3 days in Montreal and I took the Megabus both ways (he met me there because he had flown in from Miami--yeah, he is a lucky butt!) The drive to Montreal from Toronto was great. I left at 9am on Tuesday morning from Toronto and the bus was only half-full. This was great because it allowed me to take up two seats and spread myself out (I am pretty small so I could make myself into a ball and I slept the whole way). The return was a whole different story. It has been 2 yrs since I have taken the Megabus to Montreal and the last time I was there, the stop was located indoors. On our way home last night I made the mistake of not double-checking the address, and I ended up getting my brother and I lost. It turns out that even though you still get to wait indoors for the bus, you still need to go through the outside to get to the entrance of the new stop. This was not the case before. The stop itself is sparse and there is nothing around. Since my brother and I were taking the 12:15am bus to Toronto, the area looked even more sketchy (imagine dark, dead and gloomy). My brother and I were the first to get on the bus and we went straight to the 2nd floor and snagged the row in the back hoping that we would be able to sleep using up an extra chair each. Wrong. The bus got packed really quickly and we had to give up the extra chairs. I know, it's not cool to try to take up extra chairs, but come on, you can't tell me you have not tried to avoid having someone sit next to you! So, we lost the middle seats to 2 gentlemen and my brother and I got comfortable in each of our corners. Right before we left the station, a man with 2 dogs got on the bus. The man did not exactly smell great, so many people moved from the back of the bus where the man had chosen to sit with his dogs, to the front or bottom of the bus. The 2 gentleman sitting between my brother and I tried to cover their noses, but after 20 minutes or so, they gave up and left their seats. So yeh! For getting the extra seats for my brother and I to stretch on, but neh for having a pretty smelly ride home. Here is my advice: *As soon as you arrive, get in line (sit on the chairs against the wall by the window) *If taking a bus after 9pm, buy food in advance *After they open the line, you need to walk to the bus located on the street--sometimes not in front of the waiting area. My boyfriend and I do distance so I have taken my fair share of Megabus between Toronto-Montreal. This is advice from a veteran Megabuser then... AVOID MEGABUS LIKE THE PLAGUE. They have the single WORST customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. We've taken upwards of a collective 40 round trips (it's often more affordable) and the experience has been negative more than positive. It's gotten to the point where I'd really rather pay more for other options than deal with their bullshit any longer. Consistently late, with drivers who lack any sense of customer service or generally wherewith-all. Wifi doesn't work more often than it does. Recently, my boyfriend had a ticket for a bus. The ticket clearly said the bus departure time was 8:30. So, he showed up early for the 8:30 bus. Unfortunately, Megabus had made a mistake with the ticket so that he was actually signed up with a reservation code at a different time (7:30). The driver did not let him on the 8:30 bus. What's more, they made him PAY 109$ for a ticket to the 9:30 bus, even though it WAS THEIR MISTAKE that the ticket was misprinted. This meant he MISSED a connecting bus in Toronto and had to pay for a new ticket there too. This is ONE bad experience of MANY. I can't deal with their incompetence or lack of customer service any longer. Make the decisions you have to make based on affordability etc - but be warned, it might not be so affordable in the end when they decide to screw you over. read more

I am new Yelp and I decided to check out Megabus reviews. I'm actually astonished by all these terrible reviews. I've been using Megabus for a few years and although there is the occasional delay, I feel that they're all reasonable (snowstorms, accidents, traffic, construction, long holiday weekend with busy 401) I usually take the 6pm leaving from Montreal (Avoid the 5pm bus to Toronto if you're going downtown, it is NOT a direct trip, the 5pm makes about 5-6 stops along the 401 before arriving in Toronto) and the 6:30/7:30am leaving from Toronto. When there is something going on at the Bell Center (practically right next door to their new location - 997 Saint Antoine West in Montreal) it's a little difficult to get out of the city but obviously that's out of their control. Some bus drivers will try to take an alternative route but being someone who's from Montreal... You can never escape traffic lol The Toronto bus at 7:30am is by far my favorite. However please be aware that it does make a stop in Cornwall and Kirkland before arriving in Montreal. Nonetheless, our scheduled arrival is 1:50pm and sometimes we get there a little earlier depending on the weather conditions and traffic. Montreal terminal is a little small, considering there's nothing IN the actually terminal. But if you go upstairs, where the skating rink is, there is a little foodcourt and also the train station is close by with a convenient store, McDonald's and Tim-Hortons. I would just recommend getting your snacks/water beforehand. Unlike Toronto, the line is made INSIDE & Trust me, if it's -40 outside, you really appreciate this. When they're ready to board, one of the employees will come to call out your departure time and open the gate. There's not a lot of seats available so the young lady at the counter usually tries to get everyone to move forward in the line so all the seats can be used. She also makes speeches (I guess they don't have a recorded message or PA system) when/if the bus is delayed for some reason (usually traffic due to the bell center or rush hour, lol) Toronto is right in the heart of downtown. It's close to everything. It's really convenient. However it's really busy, considering they have greyhound there as well. The first time I went, I wasn't sure where to wait in line. The line is actually outside at one of the gates. When it's cold... You obviously prefer to wait inside and when you see they're starting to board, you run outside so you're not the last to board lol Most of the bus drivers will tell you the stops on the intercom/microphone and also mention that there is no break at Kingston. Sometimes you can stretch your legs but I noticed that the time spent there is mostly for the drivers to change shifts. I've seen people running after the bus because they decided to go to Tim Hortons down the street, you really don't have the time. Make sure you have everything with you before traveling. As for wifi, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't really go on the bus for the wifi so I can't complain about it. I just use Megabus as a way of getting from point A to point B at a pretty cheap rate (buy your tickets in advance, if you buy last minute, it's almost double the price) - It's the fastest and cheapest rate to get to Toronto since Greyhound goes by Ottawa and Via Rail isn't always affordable. In all, I had to give them a 5-star because I've never had a problem with employees, they're always very kind and accommodating. One of the employees, a tall young man, even helped me bring my suitcases to the bus (I had two. SIDENOTE - you have to pay for your extra suitcase, since you're only permitted one of 50lbs) Their transportation is affordable despite the wifi and delays. I hope this new review allows customers to be a little more understanding of the Megabus policies and also the road conditions when traveling. read more

I've been using megabus to travel between montreal and toronto for the past 2 months. I've made 5 trips back and forth. Ticket price has ranged from $22 to $80. I give megabus 2 stars for three reasons. Number one, it's never reached the destination on time. It's been 25min to 3 hours late!!! Albeit it took 3 hours extra to reach toronto once because of construction on 401. However I am displeased that even with no traffic and no problems on the road (when I take 6am or arriving at 3am buses), we have never managed to reach on time. I'm lucky if I reach my destination 25min late. The average delay is 45min. I traveled in August and September, so weather was not a reason for the delays. Second reason for 2 stars, their washrooms are terrible. Clean to begin with but very uncomfortable for females. Very cramped and disgusting. I just avoid drinking water or anything before and during my megabus ride, and try my best to avoid the washroom for the 7 hours or so it takes. 3rd reason is that the WiFi is weak and not reliable. Aside from this, seats are ok. The buses have always been clean. Having charging points for each seat was great. read more

I keep using Megabus because the tickets are just so cheap - when purchased far in advance - that it's hard to compare with any other form of transit. Having said that, it's really not a pleasant experience. This Montreal station, in particular, is bare-bones. It offers a few uncomfortable seats and a washroom, that's it. Not so much as a vending machine or water fountain, so if you're parched or starving, you're outta luck. This "station" is relatively clean, at least, and the staff are helpful and friendly enough. But this is definitely not a place where you want to spend more than a minute unless necessary. read more

Today I read an article that a Megabus collided with a truck on the highway in eastern Ontario - and frankly I was thankful it wasn't the bus I was just on 2 nights earlier, on the same exact route. Now, I admittedly don't know the circumstances of the crash I read about, but if the skills of the driver we had could be any allusion - I wouldn't be surprised. If you're in Montreal, check out the stop light where Viger ends at Robert Bourassa. Our driver tore off the traffic signal cover over the lights, clean off, as he drove too close to the curb. He drove right up the backs of countless civilian vehicles on a wet and slippery freeway at numerous points - something my girl and I witnessed tensely as we sat by the front on the second level. It was raining - SLOW DOWN! The driver's announcements of destinations were also curt and unintelligible. His manners to passengers asking simple questions were rude and insincere, as if he were annoyed or agitated. You don't even want to ask a question to a guy like that. We arrived in Montreal alive. That's as much as I can say. The lack of leg room is near torturous because I'm not five. They skipped the safety video, because, who needs safety? These guys are rude, and nearly destructive in their driving habits. They better start buckling down on these drivers and their road ethics before tragedies accumulate at their hand. read more

I use megabus all the time to back and forth from school. Its usually unpleasant (extended travel times, smelly, nauseating, fake wifi) but whatever i could deal. But this last time was the last straw. I was on the redeye bus from Montreal to Toronto, it was around 3am that a man 2 seats behind/across from me began to masterbate. Im pretty sure I was the only one awake, I was too scared to get up and tell the bus driver (didnt want to get closer to him). Eventually I was just like okay this is happening, and I think I fell asleep. The bus drivers switched at Kingston and the drive took almost 10 hours so by the time we got to Toronto I wanted to get the fuck out of there. I emailed megabus about it and they didnt do anything. They said when you take the bus you agree to travel with the public which may sometimes be unpleasant. LIKE BRUH, what the man did was illegal. They offered 0 compensation or anything, not to mention it was a $20 ride and I am 19 year old girl. what a horrible company, I had a negative experience almost a week ago, called to discuss it, was sent to a voicemail, called back to follow up and had an incredibly rude customer service rep tell me I would just have to wait and that they would get to me. I live tweeted the entire horrible ride I had. I paid for a megabus (double decker with space between seats) that is the only kind of bus I ride, I do not ride greyhounds as they are uncomfortable and too cramped, they sent a Coach Canada bus which is essentially the same as a Greyhound with no warning and the bus was twenty minutes late on one of the coldest days so far this winter. The ride in this horrible bus was also my return trip and double the price of my ride in. I had to ride 5.5 hours in a seat where I had a neighbour brushing up against me because the seats were that close. There wasn't even space to take off my jacket. Not their fault but my neighbour smelled strongly of smoke as well. This would not have been as big a deal if there were any space between the seats. They have a strict no refund policy so when they send a bus that isn't what was advertised you are essentially held hostage and they have zero accountability once they have your money. read more
