I went into the search for a photographer with my head hanging low. I didn't think it was going to be possible to find someone meeting my description. He or she needed to love natural light, color in all it's beautiful shades, detest overly posed couples shots/ group wedding photos or at least hear my pain (no jumping! None, zero, zilch, nada), was willing to travel to Yosemite for not one, not two, but three nights, and wasn't going to completely alter the budget we'd set out for the wedding. In addition to these limiting parameters, I was looking about six months beforehand because we didn't know we needed a photographer until about 6,708 people told us that we did. In the great scheme of wedding photography, Megan is relatively new but the shots she had on her site of Hawaiian weddings and so many stunning city hall ceremonies were a great representation of her talents. Of course, it was meeting her that was the real clincher. She got my slightly crass humour (sorrymom) and was incredibly bubbly, kind, and encouraging. She wasn't going to do anything we didn't want (cake cutting...nah) but knew sometimes couples like a bit of direction. Her final presentation of all of the photographs looked stunning and she was going to send us everything in the CUTEST box- I'm a sucker for presentation. The weekend of she was the perfect accompaniment to my bridal party and to our whole crew. She was sensitive to everyone's aesthetic needs (women can be cray and we all have a "good" side) and she captured every moment without intruding. She fluttered throughout the day unnoticed unless to pause and soak the moment with me. (Can you tell I love her?) Now Monday morning is when you know she's one-of-a-kind. We got married on Saturday and had a "day of rest" on Sunday with our friends. We asked if it was okay to save our 'day after' photos for the next next day so we didn't look hungover...sad but true. Megan not only stayed through Monday afternoon but she scouted out the locations we were looking into in Yosemite Valley and beyond on Sunday AND SHE WOKE UP AT 4:30AM ON MONDAY TO CATCH THE SUNRISE WITH US. So did her boyfriend who drove us around and had snacks...SNACKS. I digress. This is really all about the photos. Really, I'll let them speak for themselves (posted here) but basically I felt like a stunner, she made my foolishly handsome husband look even more debonair in digital form and most importantly, she listened to what I wanted. Wow! Just WOW! Megan is amazing and her work is incredible. We were having such a hard time finding a photographer for our wedding this past March and then we found Megan on Instagram. I didn't reach out to her immediately because I assumed she'd be way out of our budget since that seemed to be the theme during our search. After a couple of weeks, I decided to just reach out and I'm so glad I did. Shortly after exchanging our first emails, we were on a zoom call with her. My husband and I can be pretty introverted and she immediately put as at ease, we felt so comfortable w her. I loved the fact that she truly wanted to get to know us and seemed genuinely interested in what exactly we wanted out of our wedding photographs. Half way through the zoom call we knew she'd be our photographer. She kept in touch throughout the months before our wedding. She was so helpful with recommendations and also in calming me down when I was having meltdowns over my other not so professional vendors. The day of the wedding she showed up right on time, was wonderful and down to earth. The day before the wedding my chair rental vendor completely ghosted me and I was in panic mode, luckily last minute I was able to find another vendor but unfortunately we'd have to pick up the chairs and set them up ourselves. Immediately upon hearing this, Megan volunteered to help set up and said a bride shouldn't have to do that on her wedding day. When I say she was far more than our wedding photographer, I mean it. Oh and our wedding photographs came out AMAZING!!! We are so happy and grateful to her for capturing our day the way she did. She had dinner with us and our guests and everyone loved her. We wanted some family photos while in Maui. We are fans of journalistic/lifestyle photography. We knew we didn't want photos that were unnatural or too posed, which are the type of photos you get with photographers at the resorts. Megan was amazing to work with, and she did a great job capturing our little family. Getting outdoor pictures with a little one can be a challenge, especially when they are sleepy. Megan is an incredible photographer, and my husband and I are SO glad we chose her for our engagement photos and our wedding. When we arrived to meet her for our engagement photos at the Shoreline Park in Mountain View, she told us she had gotten there ahead of time to get some ideas and had already scoped out some great spots for pictures. Megan is such a great photographer and so nice. Now living in the bay area having just moved from Hawaii I wanted to do something fun and different for our family photos. From the moment I contact Megan she was very responsive and very accomodating. I wasn't sure of the nice landscapes around the city and she gave some great suggestions. We took some photos on the Embarcadero and walked down through the financial district to get some really nice ones in the city. All of the photos came out beautifully. My husband and I planned a baby moon to Kauai and I thought it may be fun to get some professional maternity shots. I admit I was really nervous because they're often super cheesy, fake and stiff . I found Megan on Instagram and was drawn to her clean, bright images and thought she had the the perfect eye for what we were looking for. Megan was very prompt in answering all of my communications and had a lot of package options to choose from. We set a date and she followed up shortly before to make sure we were all set and to talk about where we'd shoot. Megan also went above and beyond by helping me find a last minute hairstylist- (beautybybrit on insta) who was also fantastic and came to the hotel to do my hair. The actual shoot was so much fun! It's been awhile since I've taken professional photos and Megan made it easy and relaxed and had great ideas for poses and angles to hit. We got the perfect sunset and spent about an hour in different spots. I didn't want it to end, but I was positive we got great photos. The process after the shoot was also seamless, Megan sent some preview photos that were above and beyond what we paid for and then a couple of weeks later the full image collection to pick from. There were SO many good shots, she has a wonderful eye and we had trouble picking. I hope one day we make it back to Kauai with our baby in tow to take more pics with Megan.
