We booked an engagement session with Jenna on our first trip together to Hawaii. Jenna knew that this was an engagement session redo for us, because we'd told her we were really disappointed with the first set of photos we took in San Francisco, and she really blew us away with the images she captured for us. I couldn't stop smiling as I looked through the photos because there were SO many good ones to choose from. We are definitely replacing the current photos we have around the house with these new ones from Jenna! When I had the initial consultation call with Jenna, I told her that we - as a couple - were super awkward in front of the camera, and would need a ton of direction. She went above and beyond in this sense, and not only did she put us at ease in front of the camera, but she provided great instructions and tips to help us look natural while she was shooting. My husband and I hired Jenna Lee Pictures a year ago today to curate our wedding in Kauai. Initially, Zach Dancel and I thought we wanted a large blow-out wedding. However, we soon realized that we weren't planning a wedding for ourselves. We were constantly trying to please everyone else and meet their needs. After attending weddings of friends and family, we could see how so many couples just become consumed trying to make sure every guest has fun which often deprives the newlyweds from enjoying THEIR own day. That is when we decided to keep it simple and elope. We contacted Jenna with less than 6 months notice, and not only did she make the process EXTREMELY easy from the beginning, but she constantly recommended vendors, new places, and shoot ideas for my husband and I to have the perfect day. When we visualized our wedding, all we truly wanted was to keep it stress-free so we could just focus on what really mattered: our marriage and commitment to one another, and Jenna made sure of this. We loved her work and passion for her profession so much that we actually decided to do a TWO day shoot with her. Our two-day adventure elopement took us to an amazing and remote location in Kaua'i that involved hiking for several hours into a gorgeous and private coastal area. We saw blow holes, turtles, and endangered monk seals along the way that Jenna had spotted. Our fearless photographer who did not care getting rained on, muddy, and even letting me borrow her SHOES so I would not slip, ensured our special day would be nothing short of PERFECT- and the pictures she took will prove it! We loved the symbolism of hiking for a couple hours before committing to one another, just traveling hand-in-hand, helping helping each other along the way. On the second day, we started our hike at 3:30am to venture to the opposite side of the island on Oahu's North Shore. As we were planning our wedding in Hawaii, a number of our family and friends advised us to choose a wedding photographer very carefully, as the images that the photographer captures will be images that encapsulates one of the most pivotal experiences of a person's, and indeed a couple's, lifetime. Therefore, of all the things to get right, hiring the right photographer is of the utmost importance. With all the pressure of that comes with that advice, so began our research into wedding photographers. Initially, our wedding venue, the Moana Surfrider, and our wedding coordinator, Lauren from Aloha Bridal Connections (ABC), gave us two separate lists of "preferred vendors." From there, we began cross-referencing the vendors with their respective reviews online. Based on those reviews, we then looked at each photographers' portfolio and decided if their work aligns with the aesthetic that we had in mind for our wedding photos. Of all the vendors we evaluated, Jenna Lee Pictures, a recommendation from ABC, was at the very top of our list. Not only were her reviews five-stars across the board, but her photos are consistently amazing. Just have a look at her gallery for yourself, and you will see what I mean. On the day of our wedding, Jenna Lee perfectly captured every crucial moment, every emotion, and every detail imaginable. However, after the ceremony, that didn't stop my wife, Jenna Lee, and subsequently me from braving the elements to capture some pretty epic shots on the beach. Jenna Lee and her team had no problems with getting wet. She might have even sacrificed some of her equipment that day, but that didn't stop Jenna Lee. I cannot take credit for finding Jenna Lee and her amazing photography skills. My friend from Hawaii was actually the one who found Jenna Lee Photography on Instagram. She sent me the link to the pictures from the wedding shoot Jenna Lee did of the couple at the Hawaii Volcano Park and our minds were blown. My husband and I are Tibetan and if any of you know Tibetans you know we like to do weddings big. Our parents wanted a big Fat Tibetan wedding, but we had always wanted something different. Then Covid hit and whatever small planning we had done with our wedding went out the window. We used to joke about eloping because it would save us money and make it intimate, but we didn't seriously start considering it until last year. Then, one day in conversation with one of my best friends who is from Hawaii, she suggested Hawaii for an elopement site. Because, neither my husband nor I had been to any of the Hawaiian Islands but always wanted to travel there, we started considering Oahu for our marriage. After seeing all the beautiful locations on the island that we could exchange our vows from the pictures my friend sent and from Jenna Lee's website, we decided to seriously plan on making it happen. Jenna Lee and I started corresponding via email last year when we had initially planned on the elopement. But then covid hit and then the world as we knew it came to a halt. When we cancelled our flights and time lines for the wedding, Jenna Lee was very understanding. Actually, most of the email correspondence was with Jerry who is Jenna's father but helps with the emailing. Jerry has been the sweetest. In fact, I feel like I owe Jerry a lot for making all the dates and pricing work within our timelines and budgets. The day before our wedding, Jenna Lee made sure to call us to talk over the details and make sure we knew where to park and the little details. I think it's evident in the way Jenna made sure to keep us updated that shows she really cared about us as individuals and not just as customers. For our big day, we had told Jenna we wanted to do Lanikai beach for our vows for a sunrise shoot, and Jenna and Sean made sure to meet us extra early to make that happen. But as expected, the beach was already busy with people. Jenna promptly came up with a plan to do the first look on Lanikai but then move to Sherwood beach which was completely empty and the views were just as nice. One of the things that had changed with our plans for elopement was some of my family members had joined us because they did not want to miss the big day for anything, so even though it was not originally part of the plan, Jenna accommodated all of us easily and helped curate some of the most beautiful memories of my life. She even extended the hours we had initially agreed for the shoot to ensure we got to do a shoot in our traditional Tibetan clothing at the Hoomaluhia Botanial gardens. While Jenna is the main person making sure everything is happening, we cannot forget Sean, who is the videographer. Sean is Jenna's right hand man who helps with the shoots. We loved the Cinematic video of our day that Sean made. Even though we were the first Tibetan couple they had ever shot for a wedding, Jenna and Sean seemed to know exactly how to capture the details. I think their innate respect for other cultures and their love for their craft is what made the pictures come out so well. I am honestly in love with all the pictures and video we got from our wedding and I cannot thank Jenna Lee and Sean enough for helping us make these beautiful memories. It meant so much to us that you took the time out of your busy day to take the time to know us and really tell our story. After losing our son in July 2016, this photoshoot was very emotional for us. We wanted to include our son in the photos without putting his pictures and you had the best ideas to include him. We bought balloons and wrote messages to our son and future daughter and we released them to send our messages to them (we pretended because we didn't want it to fall in the ocean). It was such a great idea and really made the photoshoot perfect! The balloons made the rainbow theme so ideal and really illuminated the photoshoot. We woke up really early to catch the sunrise and it was sooo worth it. You were so patient with us and so comfortable to work with. We felt like you've known us forever even though you just met us. If there was one item of utmost importance for my fiance (now husband!) and I, it was the photographer. I knew I wanted the absolute best of the best and did SO much research in photographers to ensure no stone was left unturned. Then one day, Jenna Lee graced my Instagram feed and I knew I had to have her just from her photos alone. I spoke with maybe over 10 wedding planners before picking one, but Jenna Lee was the first and only photographer I spoke with; I booked her right after we got off the phone. I knew she was what we wanted because 1) her packages are seriously AMAZING and impossible to turn down. 2) Not only is she THE sweetest person to talk to on the phone, but she is so professional about her business. 3) She has so much knowledge about the island and the industry that she became helpful in other aspects other than photography! 4) Her energy is so uplifting that I knew my shoot was going to be fun and unique. I don't photograph well, but she ensured us that she would be able to direct us when needed and guide us into flattering poses. On the wedding day itself, I could not have asked for a more perfect day. She arrived on time and with so much energy! She was SUPER attentive to detail and kept right on track with the schedule she was given. She had time to take pictures of me and then go to the groom's house for shots of him getting ready. After the ceremony she was able to take some really creative and unique shots that I never thought to ask, such as taking a picture from the altar while she shot facing the crowd and photos of my grandma and I that I never knew I needed until I saw them. During the reception she kept working so hard, even catching us to take photos when it sprinkled for 5 minutes because IT'S COOL. Everyone loved the candid shots she took of them! She had so many creative shot ideas and I love how excited she was the entire day. The shoot didn't end there, as we scheduled our adventure session for the sunrise after the wedding. She texted me that morning and was ready to go! The adventure session was JUST as amazing as the wedding day and I could not be more thankful to Jenna Lee, Shaun, and Jagger. I tried to keep this review short but honestly there are not enough words to describe just how amazing Jenna Lee and her team are. I know this isn't normal, but she gave us sneak peek pictures one day after our wedding day! I don't expect this to happen with every shoot, but my goodness, she really went above and beyond and everyone who I've shown the pictures to have fallen in love with her work as well. We met a lot of photographers before we finally met Jenna. We loved her and her gorgeous work right away! She's super sweet, and so fun to work with!. Jenna has a great eye, and produces beautiful shots. My husband and I aren't really comfortable in front of a camera, but one of the great things about Jenna is that she isn't all about posed shots. She wants your pictures to look natural. She is as creative and adventurous as you want to be - whatever you're comfortable with. My advice is to try some of the ideas she tosses your way - even if you think it sounds weird. Chances are you'll end up with some great shots. She's also very open to your ideas, and you can tell she really loves what she does and wants to make sure you're happy with her work. We've gotten lots of compliments on how fun our engagement pictures are, and how they're a true reflection of our personalities. I booked a boudoir session with Jenna before the wedding to surprise my groom, and those turned out amazing (I seriously had no idea I could look so good)!! We haven't gotten all of our wedding pictures back yet (but we have a sneak peak!), and already I've had people say that these are some of the nicest wedding pics they've seen. Jenna is everything that i had hoped and dream for when it comes to having someone be a part of our biggest day. This woman comes in and everything changes from good to even better. Her presence makes the day feel at ease because she is so warm and kind and knows exactly what to do. Our coordinators had some areas to work on but Jenna stepped up and worked her magic. She got along with all of the vendors and the most important part, not only did she make the day go by smooth, once the sneak peak picture came in i felt as ease. I don't even know where to start. DESTINATION bride is what some would call me. When I decide to have my dream wedding in Hawaii finding the perfect photographer was top on my list. There were many many MANY to choose from. One day I came across Jenna's work and was taken away. I literally stalked her Instagram for weeks. When I received notification back that she was available for my date It literally meant the world to me. I knew with out a doubt that I was in good hands. Through out the entire process of planning she kept an open line of communication to ensure every piece of detail I wanted captured would be given. I wanted to take a day before the wedding to have photos taken at the beach with my family. With everything planned out and ready to go I had to change those plans due to my flight being delayed and other unforeseen issues. In my past photoshoots, I've had to struggle to choose 3-4 photos to be edited. I always thought it was my problem: that I was awkward and unphotogenic. I learned from my engagement photoshoot with Jenna that it is possible for me to look amazing in 320 photos. I've never downloaded so many photos of myself in my life. I was so concerned because I was freezing and stiff during the photoshoot; but Jenna was still able to capture me in my most natural and happy smiles. When we first started planning our wedding in Hawaii, I was doing a ton of research and came across Jenna Lee. I fell in love IMMEDIATELY with her work and knew I wanted her for our wedding. The more planning I did, the more I got away from the small ceremony idea we wanted originally. We made the choice to keep it simple and went with a wedding package that came with photography. I told my parents the only gift we needed was an adventure session with Jenna, and I am so glad they came through! The weather didn't comply with our original location, so she found areas that would be less rainy/windy just a few hours before the shoot. The second we got out of the car at the first stop- HEAVY RAIN, wind- all of it. We shot anyway and Jenna turned my rats nest hair and our soaking wet clothes into straight up ART. She and Sean were so fun and give off the best energy, it was immediately comfortable and she provided excellent guidance on how to look or stand or move, so that even someone as awkward as I am could be at ease. My husband has said I'm not allowed to print them all and turn the house into a shrine of our wedding, but... we'll see.
